Definitions
- the present invention relates to a novel photochromic compound, a novel photochromic curable composition containing the photochromic compound, and an optical article.
- Photochromic compounds represented by chromene compounds, fulgide compounds, spirooxazine compounds, etc., change color quickly when irradiated with light containing ultraviolet rays such as sunlight or light from mercury lamps. It has the property of returning to its original color (photochromic property), and is used for various uses, particularly for optical materials, taking advantage of this property.
- photochromic eyeglass lenses that have been provided with photochromic properties through the use of photochromic compounds can quickly color and function as sunglasses outdoors exposed to light containing ultraviolet rays such as sunlight. Indoors where there is no color, it functions as normal glasses that fade and become transparent, and in recent years, its demand has increased.
- photochromic compounds are generally used in combination with plastic materials. Specifically, the following means are known.
- C Bonding two optical sheets with an adhesive layer formed of an adhesive resin in which a photochromic compound is dispersed. This method is called a binder method.
- optical materials such as optical articles to which photochromic properties are imparted.
- the coloring degree initial coloring in the visible light region before irradiation with ultraviolet rays is low.
- the coloring degree color density when irradiated with ultraviolet rays is high.
- the speed fading speed from when the irradiation of ultraviolet rays is stopped until it returns to the original state is high.
- V High storage stability.
- VI It must be easy to mold into various shapes.
- the polymer photochromic compound exhibits high photochromic properties in each matrix.
- the polymer photochromic compound aggregates during curing, but it is known that the resulting photochromic cured product becomes cloudy.
- a low-molecular photochromic compound having no oligomer chain group does not aggregate in a solid matrix, and a transparent photochromic cured product is obtained.
- the matrix dependency is high, and the fading speed or the like sometimes becomes a problem in the solid matrix.
- both the polymer and the low-molecular photochromic compound are rapidly dissolved in the monomer composition serving as the substrate of the optical article from the viewpoint of manufacturing a photochromic cured product.
- photochromic properties can be developed without depending on the matrix, it has excellent solubility in the monomer composition as the base material of the optical article, and it does not aggregate during the optical base material molding process (during curing). Development of photochromic compounds that exist stably dispersed has been desired.
- an object of the present invention is to provide a photochromic compound having the above effects.
- the present inventors have intensively studied to solve the above problems. Then, introduction of various substituents was examined so that the polymer photochromic compound exhibiting excellent photochromic characteristics in the solid matrix can be highly dispersed in the matrix. As a result, it has been found that a polymer photochromic compound having an alkenyl group having 10 to 30 carbon atoms is useful for solving the above problems. That is, by introducing an alkenyl group having 10 to 30 carbon atoms into a polymer photochromic compound, it maintains photochromic properties in a solid matrix and at the same time exhibits excellent solubility in the monomer composition and is cured. It has been found that the aggregation of the water can be suppressed, and the present invention has been completed.

- the fourth aspect of the present invention is a polymer molded body in which the photochromic compound of the first aspect of the present invention is dispersed.
- the fifth invention is an optical article coated with a polymer film in which the photochromic compound of the first invention is dispersed.
