- the value of the current flowing through the load 132 can be determined using the value of the voltage applied to the resistor 212 acquired by the sensor 112 D and the known resistance value R shunt of the resistor 212. Since the total value of the resistance values of the resistor 212 and the load 132 can be obtained based on the output voltage Vout of the conversion unit 208 and the current value, the known resistance value R shunt is subtracted from the total value. The resistance value R HTR of the load 132 can be determined.

- the output voltage of the conversion unit 208 may be a predetermined target voltage. These voltages are voltages applied to the entire circuit.
- Resistance R HTR load 132 when the temperature of the load 132 is T HTR can be expressed as follows.
- R HTR (T HTR ) (V HTR ⁇ R shunt ) / (V Batt -V HTR )
- V Batt is a voltage applied to the entire circuit.
- V Batt is an output voltage of the power supply 110.
- V Batt corresponds to the target voltage of the conversion unit 208.
- VHTR is a voltage applied to the heater. Instead of VHTR , a voltage applied to the shunt resistor 212 may be used.
- the control unit 106 determines the value (hereinafter referred to as “first voltage value”) of the voltage (the output voltage of the power supply 110 or the target voltage of the conversion unit 208) applied to the entire circuit. (Hereinafter also referred to as “second voltage value”) (hereinafter also referred to as “the second voltage value”) applied to a portion of the circuit where the voltage applied by the temperature change of the load 132 changes. It can be determined whether the source of aerosol that can be supplied from the reservoir 116A (or the source of aerosol carried by the aerosol base 116B) is insufficient. According to the present embodiment, it is possible to determine whether or not the aerosol source is insufficient only by adding a minimum sensor to the configuration of the conventional aerosol generation device.
- the parameters to be acquired from the sensor 112 in the above equation for determining the resistance value R HTR of the load 132 are only the voltage applied to the heater or the voltage applied to the shunt resistor 212
- the other values may be stored in the memory 114 as constants. Therefore, the influence of the error of the sensor 112 on the resistance value R HTR of the load 132 can be reduced to the utmost limit, so that the determination accuracy as to whether or not an unintended behavior occurs can be greatly improved.

- the control unit 106 will be described as performing all the steps. However, it should be noted that some steps may be performed by other components of the aerosol generating device 100.
- step 302 the control unit 106 determines whether suction by a user is detected based on information obtained from a pressure sensor, a flow rate sensor, and the like. For example, when the output values of these sensors change continuously, the control unit 106 may determine that suction by the user has been detected. Alternatively, the control unit 106 may determine that suction by the user is detected based on pressing of a button for starting generation of aerosol, or the like.
- step 302 If suction is not detected (“N” in step 302), the process of step 302 is repeated.
- step 304 the control unit 106 determines whether the current count value is equal to or greater than a predetermined count threshold (for example, 3).
- a predetermined count threshold for example, 3
- the count value indicates the number of times the first condition (or the second condition) determined in step 314 described later is satisfied.
- the count value may be stored in the memory 114.
- step 306 the control unit 106 determines that the aerosol source (or the aerosol source supported by the aerosol base 116B) that can be supplied from the reservoir 116A is insufficient.
- step 308 the control unit 106 performs control for notifying the user of an abnormality (lack of aerosol source).
- the control unit 106 operates the notification unit 108 to perform light emission, display, vocalization, vibration and the like for notifying the user of an abnormality.
- step 308 the process ends.
- the cartridge 104A or the aerosol generating article 104B may be replaced, or the reservoir 116A or the aerosol base 116B may be refilled with the aerosol source, or the like. is necessary.
- step 310 the control unit 106 turns on the switch Q1 to make the first circuit 202 function. As a result, power is supplied to the load 132 and the aerosol source is atomized to generate an aerosol.

- the control unit 106 may measure the value of the voltage applied to the shunt resistor 212 using the sensor 112D. Since the electrical resistance value of the load 132 changes with temperature, when the temperature of the load 132 changes, the voltage applied to the load 132 and the voltage applied to the shunt resistor 212 change.
- step 314 the control unit 106 compares the voltage value measured in step 312 with a predetermined threshold (for example, V 1 ) to determine whether the measured voltage value is V 1 or more.
- V 1 can be a voltage value applied to the load 132 when the temperature of the load 132 becomes a predetermined temperature higher than the boiling point of the aerosol source.
- the voltage V HTR applied to the load 132 when the temperature of the load 132 is T HTR can be expressed as follows.
- V HTR (T HTR ) I HTR (T HTR ) ⁇ R HTR (T HTR )
- I HTR (T HTR ) is a current flowing through the load 132 when the temperature of the load 132 is T HTR .
- the control unit may compare the voltage applied to the shunt resistor 212 with the predetermined threshold in step 314. It should be noted that when comparing the voltage applied to the shunt resistor 212 with a predetermined threshold, it is necessary to determine whether the voltage applied to the shunt resistor 212 is less than or equal to the predetermined threshold. is there. This can be described as follows. First, the voltage V shunt the temperature of the load 132 is applied to the shunt resistor 212 when a T HTR can be expressed as follows.
- V shunt (T HTR ) V Batt -V HTR (T HTR ) If the voltage V HTR applied to the load 132 when the temperature of the load 132 described above is T HTR is substituted for this equation, this equation can be transformed as follows.
- the voltage applied to the shunt resistor 212 is predetermined. It is necessary to determine whether it is less than or equal to the threshold.
- step 314 the control unit 106 controls the second voltage value (the value of the voltage applied to the load 132) while the first voltage value (the value of the voltage applied to the entire circuit) is controlled to be constant. Alternatively, it may be determined whether or not the value of the voltage applied to the shunt resistor 212 satisfies the first condition.
- the first condition in the case of using the value of the voltage applied to the load 132 to the second voltage value is in whether or not V 1 or more, is applied to the shunt resistor 212 to the second voltage value that the first condition in the case of using the value of the voltage is whether or not V 1 or less.
- control unit 106 determines whether or not the electric resistance value of the load 132 derived from the first voltage value and the second voltage value satisfies the second condition (equal to or higher than a predetermined resistance value R 1 ). May be If the first condition or the second condition is satisfied multiple times, the process may proceed to step 306 after step 304 and it may be determined that the aerosol source is insufficient. According to this configuration, when the predetermined condition is satisfied a plurality of times, it is determined that the aerosol source is insufficient.
- the controller 106 controls the converter 208 so that the output voltage of the power supply 110 is converted and the converted output voltage is applied to the entire circuit. Do.
- the control unit 106 controls the conversion unit 208 so as to output a constant voltage.
- the first condition may be determined in step 314. That is, only the second voltage value may be used to determine whether the aerosol source is insufficient.
- the second condition may be determined in step 314.
- the control unit 106 determines whether the aerosol source is insufficient based on the first voltage value, which is the value of the constant voltage, and the second voltage value output from the sensor 112B or 112D.
- the control unit 106 may determine whether the aerosol source is insufficient based on the comparison between the second voltage value output from the sensor 112B or 112D and the predetermined threshold value. In this case, since only the second voltage needs to be detected, the room for noise is reduced, and the detection accuracy is improved.
- Sensor 112B may be configured to output a second voltage value based on a comparison between the reference voltage and the voltage applied to the amplified load 132. For example, the sensor 112B takes a difference (analog value) between a reference voltage which is an analog value and an amplified value of a voltage applied to the load 132 which is an analog value, and converts the difference into a digital value. Good. The digital value may be used as the second voltage value described above.
- the first voltage value may be stored in memory 114.
- the control unit 106 may obtain the first voltage value and the second voltage value from the memory 114 and the sensor 112B or 112D, respectively.
- the first voltage value and the second voltage value are respectively output using the sensor 112A and the sensor 112B or the sensor 112D.
- the control unit 106 determines whether or not the aerosol source is insufficient based on the comparison between the electrical resistance value of the load 132 derived from the output values obtained from these sensors and a predetermined threshold value. Good.
- step 316 the control unit 106 may reset the count value. For example, the control unit 106 may return the count value to the initial value.
- control unit 106 may return the count value to the initial value (for example, zero) when the first condition is not satisfied or the second condition is not satisfied. Thereby, even when the condition is satisfied only once due to temporary drying of the holding unit 130, the subsequent detection accuracy can be secured.
- the initial value for example, zero
- step 318 the control unit 106 notifies of the high temperature warning.
- the control unit 106 may notify the warning by operating the notification unit 108 in a predetermined mode.
- step 320 the control unit 106 prohibits or stops power supply to the load 132.
- step 322 the control unit 106 increases the count value. For example, the control unit 106 increments the count value by one. After step 322, processing returns to before step 302. Steps 318 and 320 can be omitted.
- control unit 106 runs out of the aerosol source when the first condition is continuously satisfied a plurality of times or when the second condition is continuously satisfied a plurality of times. It may be determined that This further improves the accuracy of detection of the shortage of the aerosol source. Note that the determination in step 304 may be performed without waiting for detection of suction by the user in step 302 after step 322.
- the first voltage value which is the value of the voltage applied to the whole of the circuit, and the value of the voltage applied to the part of the circuit where the voltage applied by the temperature change of the load 132 changes.

- step 419 the control unit 106 determines whether the voltage value applied to the load 132 measured in step 412 is equal to or higher than a predetermined threshold (V 2 ).
- V 2 may be the temperature of the load 132 is a voltage applied to the load 132 when a predetermined temperature higher than V 1.
- V 2 is smaller than V 1, is applied to the shunt resistance 212 the voltage value it should be noted that determining whether a V 2 less.
- step 419 If the measured voltage value is greater than or equal to V 2 (“Y” in step 419), the process proceeds to steps 406 and 408 and then ends.
- step 404 If the measured voltage value is less than V 2 (“N” in step 419), the process proceeds to step 420. For example, the control unit 106 may perform the determination by comparing the measured suction pattern with a normal suction pattern stored in the memory 114. Normal suction patterns may include various patterns known to those skilled in the art, such as Gaussian distribution. The control unit 106 separates the height of the measured suction pattern, the length of the foot, the interval between suction and the next suction, etc. by a predetermined threshold value from the normal value in the normal suction pattern. - the second embodiment of the present disclosure solves this additional problem, and provides an aerosol generating device with further improved detection accuracy regarding whether or not the aerosol source is insufficient.
- the basic configuration of the aerosol generation device 100 according to the present embodiment is the same as the configuration of the aerosol generation device 100 shown in FIGS. 1A and 1B and the circuit 200 shown in FIG.
- the aerosol generating apparatus 100 atomizes the aerosol source by power generation 110, heat generation by power supply from the power supply 110, and a load 132 whose electric resistance value changes according to temperature is used for atomizing the aerosol source
- the first circuit 202 is used to detect a voltage that changes due to a temperature change of the load 132, and is connected in parallel with the first circuit 202, and has a larger electric resistance than the first circuit 202.
- An acquisition unit that acquires the value of the voltage applied to the load 132 and the load 132, and a sensor 112B or 112D that outputs the value of the voltage that changes with the temperature change of the load 132.
- the aerosol generation device 100 may or may not have the converter 208 such as a switching converter.
- the resistance value of the load (heater) 132 can be expressed by the following equation.
- R HTR is the electrical resistance value of the load 132
- T HTR is the temperature of the load 132
- V HTR is the value of the voltage applied to the load 132
- R shunt is the electrical resistance value of the shunt resistor 212
- V Batt is the power supply 110
- the output voltage of V shunt is the value of the voltage applied to the shunt resistor 212.
- V Batt is an output voltage of the conversion unit 208. Since the electrical resistance value of the load 132 changes according to the temperature change of the load 132, the value of the voltage applied to the load 132 also changes according to the temperature change of the load 132. Therefore, the value of the voltage applied to shunt resistor 212 also changes in response to the temperature change of load 132.
- the above-described acquisition unit may be the sensor 112A that detects the output voltage of the power supply 110.
- the setting value of the output voltage of the conversion unit 208 controlled to be constant may be stored in the memory 114.
- the acquisition unit may be a reader that reads the setting value from the memory 114.
- the second circuit 204 includes a shunt resistor 212, which has a known electrical resistance value.
- the shunt resistor 212 is connected in series with the load 132.
- the sensor 112 B and the sensor 112 D respectively output the value of the voltage applied to the load 132 and the shunt resistor 212 as the value of the voltage that changes according to the temperature change of the load 132.
- the voltage value applied to the load 132 or shunt resistor 212 can be used to determine if the aerosol source is lacking.
- the second circuit 204 used to obtain the voltage value has a shunt resistor 212 and thus has a larger electrical resistance than the first circuit 202 used to generate the aerosol.
- the shunt resistor 212 preferably has a larger electrical resistance than the load 132.
- the aerosol generating device 100 measures the value of the voltage applied to the load 132 using the sensor 112B. Then, based on the comparison between the value of the reference voltage and the value of the voltage applied to the amplified load 132, the value of the voltage that changes with the temperature change of the load 132 is determined.
- description will be made based on a specific example.
- the normal temperature is 25 ° C.
- the boiling point of the aerosol source is 200 ° C.
- the temperature of the load 132 when it is determined that the aerosol source is insufficient (superheated state) is 350 ° C.
- the switch Q2 is in the ON state and the second circuit 204 is functioning, the current value flowing through the shunt resistor 212 included in the second circuit 204 flows through the load 132 connected in series with the shunt resistor 212. Equal to the current value.
- the current value IQ2 at this time can be expressed as follows.
- I Q2 V out / (R HTR (T HTR ) + R Shunt )
- V out is the value of the voltage applied to the combined resistance formed by the shunt resistor 212 and the load 132 connected in series with each other.
- V out corresponds to the output voltage of the power supply 110.
- V out corresponds to the output voltage of the conversion unit 208.
- R HTR (T R.T. ) is the resistance value of the load 132 at room temperature
- R HTR (T delep. ) Is the resistance value of the load 132 in the overheated state.
- V out 2.0 V
- R HTR (T R.T. ) 1 ⁇
- R HTR (T delep. ) 2 ⁇
- R Shunt 199 ⁇
- ⁇ I Q2 0.05 mA.
- V Shunt. (T delep. ) 1980.05 mV.
- 9.95 mV
- 9.90 mV.
- FIG. 7 illustrates a circuit configuration for determining the value of a voltage that changes with a temperature change of load 132, according to one embodiment.
- the circuit 700 shown in FIG. 7 is in addition to the first circuit 202, the second circuit 204, the switches Q1 and Q2, the shunt resistor 212, the load 132, and the sensors 112B and 112D which form a part of the circuit 200 shown in FIG.
- a comparator 702 an analog / digital converter 704, amplifiers 706 and 708, and a power supply 710 for reference voltage.
- the circuit 700 does not have to include both the sensors 112B and 112D, and may have either one.
- the circuit 700 does not have to include both of the amplifiers 706 and 708, and may have one or the other.
- the reference voltage V ref (analog value) output from the power supply 710 and the shunt resistor 212 or the load 132
- the difference (analog value) between the applied voltage (analog value) is obtained by the comparator 702.
- the reference voltage V ref can be about 5.0V.
- the amplification factor possible for comparison with the reference voltage is about twice. Therefore, the difference 9.95 mV between the applied voltage in the normal temperature state and the applied voltage in the overheated state is also amplified only about twice.
- the voltage applied to the load 132 is 10.00 mV to 19.90 mV
- the amplification factor possible for comparison with the reference voltage is about 200 times. Therefore, the difference 9.90 mV between the applied voltage in the normal temperature state and the applied voltage in the overheated state can also be amplified by about 200 times.
- the accuracy of distinguishing between the normal temperature state and the overheated state is higher than when measuring the applied voltage of the shunt resistor 212. Therefore, measuring the applied voltage of the load 132 improves the detection accuracy of the shortage of the aerosol source.
- the aerosol generation device 100 includes a conversion unit 208 that converts the output voltage of the power supply 110 and applies the converted output voltage to the second circuit 204 and the load 132.
- the acquisition unit may acquire the target value of the output voltage of the conversion unit 208 while the current flows through the second circuit 204.
- the acquisition unit may acquire the target value stored in the memory 114. According to this configuration, it is not necessary to measure the voltage applied to the entire circuit by the sensor.
- the conversion unit 208 is connected between the power supply 110 and a node on the high voltage side among the nodes to which the first circuit 202 and the second circuit 204 are connected. Thereby, the conversion unit 208 is disposed upstream of the first circuit 202 for aerosol generation and the second circuit 204 for voltage measurement. Therefore, also at the time of aerosol generation, the voltage applied to the load 132 can be highly controlled, so that the flavor and taste components and the like contained in the aerosol generated by the aerosol generation device 100 are stabilized.
- the conversion unit 208 is a switching regulator (buck converter) capable of stepping down and outputting an input voltage.
- buck converter switching regulator
- the use of a switching regulator improves the efficiency of voltage conversion. Furthermore, the application of overvoltage to the circuit can be suppressed.
- the control unit 106 converts the conversion unit 208 so that the switching regulator, which is the conversion unit 208, stops switching and outputs the input voltage without conversion. May be controlled.
- the conversion unit 208 in the so-called direct connection mode, the transition loss and the switching loss in the conversion unit 208 are eliminated, so that the utilization efficiency of the power stored in the power supply 110 is improved.
- the reservoir 116A that stores the aerosol source and the load 132 may be included in the cartridge 104A that is removable to the aerosol generating device 100 via the connection.
- the sensor 112B may not be included in the cartridge 104A, but may be included in the main body 102. That is, the sensor 112 ⁇ / b> B may be configured to output the value of the voltage applied to the load 132 and the connection as the value of the voltage that changes according to the temperature change of the load 132. This can reduce the cost of the disposable cartridge 104A.
- an aerosol substrate 116 B holding an aerosol source may be included in an aerosol generating article 104 B that can be inserted into and removed from the aerosol generating device 100.
- the sensor 112 ⁇ / b> B may not be included in the aerosol generating article 104 ⁇ / b> B and may be included in the main body 102. This can reduce the cost of the disposable aerosol generating article 104B.
- the electrical resistance value of the shunt resistor 212 is too large, it becomes difficult for current to flow when measuring the voltage value or resistance value of the load 132 or the shunt resistor 212. As a result, the current value is buried in the error of the sensor. As a result, it becomes difficult to accurately measure the voltage value and the resistance value.
- the electric resistance value of the shunt resistor 212 (as well as the voltage applied to the entire circuit and the electric resistance value of the load 132) is a state in which current flows through the second circuit 204. May be set to have a value such that current flows through the second circuit 204 so as to allow current to be distinguished from non-flowing through the second circuit 204.
- the output value of the sensor 112B or the sensor 112D has such a size as not to be buried in the noise. Therefore, it is possible to prevent false detection as to whether or not the aerosol source is insufficient.
- the electrical resistance of the shunt resistor 212 (as well as the voltage applied across the circuit and the electrical resistance of the load 132) is determined by the current flowing through the second circuit 204.
- a current having a magnitude that makes it possible to distinguish from the non-flowing state of the second circuit 204 has a value such as to flow through the second circuit 204 when the voltage of the power supply 110 is the discharge termination voltage. It may be set to This makes it possible to prevent erroneous detection as to whether or not the aerosol source is insufficient.
- the aerosol generation device 100 may include the conversion unit 208 that converts the output voltage of the power supply 110 and applies the converted voltage to the second circuit 204 and the load 132.
- the electric resistance value of the shunt resistor 212 (as well as the voltage applied to the entire circuit and the electric resistance value of the load 132) is the state in which the current flows through the second circuit 204.
- a current having a magnitude that makes it possible to distinguish from the non-flowing state flows through the second circuit 204 when the output voltage of the converter 208 is applied to the second circuit 204 and the load 132. It may be set to have a value. This makes it possible to prevent erroneous detection as to whether or not the aerosol source is insufficient.
- the electrical resistance of the shunt resistor 212 (as well as the voltage applied across the circuit and the electrical resistance of the load 132) causes the current to flow through the second circuit 204 while the current is flowing through the second circuit 204.
- the electric resistance value of the shunt resistor 212 (and the voltage applied to the entire circuit and the electric resistance value of the load 132) is determined while the current flows through the second circuit 204.
- the load 132 may be set to have a value such that only the power necessary to keep the load 132 warm is supplied.
- the electrical resistance of the shunt resistor 212 (as well as the voltage applied across the circuit and the electrical resistance of the load 132) is determined by the aerosol of the load 132 while current is flowing through the second circuit 204. May be set to have a value that does not generate.
- the electrical resistance value of the shunt resistor 212 is examined with respect to the aerosol generation device 100A such that the load 132 is supplied with only the power necessary to keep the load 132 warm while the current flows through the second circuit 204.
- m wick , m coil , and m liquid are the mass of the aerosol source held by the holding unit 130, the load 132, and the holding unit 130, respectively.
- C wick , C coil , and C liquid are the specific heat of the aerosol source held by the holding unit 130, the load 132, and the holding unit 130, respectively.
- ⁇ T wick , ⁇ T coil , and ⁇ T liquid are temperature drops per unit time of the holding unit 130, the load 132, and the holding unit 130, respectively.
- ⁇ T wick , ⁇ T coil , and ⁇ T liquid may all be considered to be the same value ⁇ T for simplification.
- Q in this case is expressed as follows.
- Q (m wick x C wick + m coil x C coil + m liquid x C liquid ) ⁇ (T B.P.- ⁇ T) If ⁇ m ⁇ C is in parentheses, Q is expressed as follows.
- Q ( ⁇ m ⁇ C) ⁇ (T B.P. - ⁇ T)
- the power W consumed by the load 132 can be expressed by the following equation.
- I Q2 (V out -I Q2 x R Shunt ) x I Q2
- V HTR is the value of the voltage applied to the load 132
- I Q2 is the value of the current flowing through the second circuit
- V out is the combined resistance formed by the shunt resistor 212 and the load 132 connected in series with each other.
- the value of the applied voltage, V shunt is the value of the voltage applied to the shunt resistor 212, and R Shunt is the electrical resistance value of the shunt resistor 212.
- V HTR may be regarded as a value obtained by multiplying V out by a predetermined coefficient smaller than 1. Further, since the present examination uses an ideal model and approximation is performed, ⁇ ⁇ that functions as a correction term may be introduced to the above equation.
- the switch (switch) Q1 is used to connect and disconnect the electrical conduction of the first circuit 202.
- the switch Q2 is used to connect and disconnect the electrical conduction of the second circuit 204.
- the control unit 106 may control the switches Q1 and Q2 such that the switch Q1 is switched with a longer on time than the switch Q2.
- the time (on-time) from when the switch Q2 is switched to the on state until it is switched to the off state can be the minimum time that can be achieved by the control unit 106. With such a configuration, the time that the switch Q2 is turned on to measure the voltage of the load 132 or the shunt resistor 212 is shorter than the time that the switch Q1 is turned on to generate an aerosol. Therefore, wasteful consumption of the aerosol source can be suppressed.
- the aerosol generation device may be manufactured by a method including the following steps.
- the first circuit 202 used for atomizing the aerosol source by the load 132 Forming a second circuit 204 that is used to detect a voltage that changes with temperature change of the load 132, is connected in parallel with the first circuit 202, and has a larger electrical resistance than the first circuit 202
- the aerosol source stored in the storage section 116A runs short, it is necessary to replace the cartridge 104A. Similarly, if the aerosol source carried by the aerosol substrate 116B is insufficient, the aerosol generating article 104B needs to be replaced.
- the resistance value of the heater (load 132) included in the cartridge 104A (or the aerosol generating article 104B) has manufacturing variations. Therefore, using the same settings for all cartridges 104A (e.g., a threshold for resistance of load 132, a threshold for voltage of load 132, etc.) to detect a shortage of aerosol sources, the accuracy of the shortage of aerosol sources is accurate. It may not be detected well.
- a problem may occur in terms of safety, such as the aerosol generation device 100 performing an unintended behavior.
- the present inventors recognized such a problem as a new problem.
- the third embodiment of the present disclosure solves this new problem, and provides an aerosol generation device with further improved detection accuracy regarding whether or not an aerosol source is insufficient.
- FIG. 8 is a flowchart of an exemplary process for detecting an insufficiency of an aerosol source.
- the control unit 106 will be described as performing all the steps. However, it should be noted that some steps may be performed by other components of the aerosol generating device 100. Although this embodiment will be described using the circuit 200 shown in FIG. 2 as an example, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that other circuits can be used. The same applies to the other flowcharts below.
- step 802 the control unit 106 determines whether suction by a user is detected based on information obtained from a pressure sensor, a flow rate sensor, and the like. For example, when the output values of these sensors change continuously, the control unit 106 may determine that suction by the user has been detected. Alternatively, the control unit 106 may determine that suction by the user is detected based on pressing of a button for starting generation of aerosol, or the like.
- step 802 If it is determined that suction has been detected (“Y” in step 802), the process proceeds to step 804. In step 804, the control unit 106 turns on the switch Q1 to cause the first circuit 202 to function.
- step 806 the control unit 106 determines whether the suction has ended. If it is determined that the suction has ended (“Y” in step 806), the process proceeds to step 808.
- control unit 106 turns off the switch Q1.
- control unit 106 turns on the switch Q2 to cause the second circuit 204 to function.
- step 812 the control unit 106 derives the resistance value of the load 132.
- the control unit 106 may detect the current value flowing through the second circuit 204, and derive the resistance value of the load 132 based on this.
- step 814 the control unit 106 determines whether the resistance value of the load 132 exceeds a predetermined threshold.
- the threshold value may be set to a resistance value when the temperature of the load 132 reaches a predetermined temperature higher than the boiling point of the aerosol source. If it is determined that the resistance value of the load exceeds the threshold (“Y” in step 814), the process proceeds to step 816, and the control unit 106 determines that the aerosol source in the aerosol generation device 100 is insufficient. . On the other hand, when it is determined that the resistance value of the load does not exceed the threshold (“N” in step 814), it is not determined that the aerosol source is insufficient.
- FIG. 8 shows an example of a general flow for determining whether the aerosol source in the aerosol generating device 100 is lacking.
- FIG. 9 is a graph showing an example of the relationship between the electrical resistance value of the load (heater) 132 made of the same metal A and the temperature. Basically, the temperature of the load 132 and the electrical resistance value are in a proportional relationship. Because the resistance of the load 132 has manufacturing variations, as shown, at room temperature (eg, 25 ° C.), the load 132 takes on different resistance values such as R, R 1 and R 2 for different individuals. obtain. When 350 ° C.
- the temperature threshold of the load 132 that is a criterion for determining whether the aerosol source is insufficient
- the resistance value of the load 132 that is a criterion for determining whether the aerosol source is insufficient the threshold value for each individual, R' will take different values of R 1 'and R 2'.
- the configuration of the aerosol generation device according to the present embodiment is basically the same as the configuration of the aerosol generation device 100 shown in FIGS. 1A and 1B and the circuit 200 shown in FIG.
- the aerosol generation device atomizes the aerosol source by the power supply 110 and heat generation by power supply from the power supply 110, and the temperature-resistance characteristic as shown in FIG.
- Load 132 a memory 114 for storing temperature-resistance characteristics, a sensor for outputting values related to the resistance value of the load 132 (electrical resistance value, current value, voltage value, etc.), output value of the sensor and output value thereof And a controller configured to calibrate the stored temperature-resistance characteristic based on the correspondence between the estimated value of the temperature of the load 132 corresponding to.
- the PTC characteristics of the cartridge 104A (or the aerosol generating article 104B) are calibrated based on the correspondence between the electrical resistance value of the load 132 and the temperature. Therefore, even if there are individual differences in the PTC characteristics of the cartridge 104A (or the aerosol generating article 104B), the PTC characteristics can be calibrated to the correct values. It should be noted that even if the load 132 has NTC characteristics, the NTC characteristics can be calibrated in a similar manner.
- FIG. 10 is a flowchart of an exemplary process for calibrating the temperature-resistance characteristic of load 132, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.
- the aerosol generation device of the present embodiment has the same configuration as the aerosol generation device 100A shown in FIG. 1A or the aerosol generation device 100B shown in FIG. 1B.
- similar processes can be applied to various aerosol generating devices having other configurations.
- the process of step 1002 is similar to the process of step 308 of FIG. 3, step 408 of FIG. 4 and step 508 of FIG. 5 of the first embodiment.
- the control unit 106 executes control for notifying the user of an abnormality.
- the control unit 106 operates the notification unit 108 to perform light emission, display, vocalization, vibration, and the like.
- the user in order to generate an aerosol using the aerosol generating device 100, the user needs to remove the cartridge 104A (or the aerosol generating article 104B) and replace it with a new cartridge.
- the control unit 106 performs a removal check to detect whether the cartridge 104A has been removed.
- the aerosol generating device 100 may include a connection that allows for the desorption of the cartridge 104A or the insertion and removal of the aerosol generating article 104B.
- the control unit 106 may calibrate the stored temperature-resistance characteristic only when detecting removal of the cartridge 104A from the connection or removal of the aerosol-generating article 104B from the connection. This can prevent calibration from being performed at an incorrect timing.
- control unit 106 may determine whether to perform calibration based on predetermined conditions prior to calibration of the stored temperature-resistance characteristic.
- control unit 106 may store the resistance of the cartridge 104A removed from the connection or the resistance of the aerosol-generating article 104B removed from the connection.
- the above-described predetermined condition is that the resistance value stored in the control unit 106 is different from the resistance value of the cartridge 104A newly attached to the connection part or the resistance value of the aerosol-generating article 104B newly inserted into the connection part.
- the predetermined condition is that while the power supply to the load 132 is continued, the change rate of the resistance value of the cartridge 104A attached to the connection or the aerosol generating article 104B inserted into the connection It may be that the rate of change of the resistance value falls below a predetermined threshold. With these configurations, unnecessary calibration can be suppressed, for example, when the cartridge 104A or aerosol generating article 104B once removed is connected again. Also, in one example, the predetermined condition does not calibrate the stored temperature-resistance characteristic from the correspondence between the output value of the sensor and the estimated value of the temperature of the load 132 corresponding to the output value. It may be determined that the temperature of the load 132 will be underestimated from the actual value.
- step 1006 the control unit 106 determines whether removal of the cartridge 104A (or removal of the aerosol-generating article 104B) is detected. In step 1006, the control unit 106 detects whether the attachment of the cartridge 104A (or the insertion of the aerosol-generating article 104B) is detected after the removal of the cartridge 104A (or the removal of the aerosol-generating article 104B). It may be determined. Further, the process may proceed to step 1008 only when the attachment of the cartridge 104A (or the insertion of the aerosol generating article 104B) is detected.
- step 1006 the control unit 106 prohibits power supply to the load 132 for a predetermined time.
- the predetermined time may be, for example, a time sufficient for the temperature of the load 132 to reach room temperature.
- step 1010 the control unit 106 turns on the switch Q2.
- the second circuit 204 functions.
- step 1012 the control unit 106 obtains a value related to the resistance value of the load 132.
- the aerosol generation device 100A may have a current sensor for detecting a current value flowing through the second circuit 204.
- the control unit 106 may obtain the resistance value of the load 132 based on the current value and the voltage value obtained by the sensor 112B.
- the control unit 106 may obtain the voltage value of the load 132 using the sensor 112B.
- step 1014 controller 106 calibrates the stored temperature-resistance characteristics for load 132.
- the temperature-resistance characteristic 902 shown in FIG. 9 is stored in memory before the process 1000 is performed.
- the control unit 106 may use the temperature-resistance characteristic 904 instead of the temperature-resistance characteristic 902. .
- the control unit 106 may calibrate the stored section of the temperature-resistance characteristic (R, R 1 , R 2 in the example of FIG. 9). Since only the intercept of the PTC characteristic is calibrated, it is only necessary to obtain information of only one point in the relationship between resistance value and temperature, which allows more rapid calibration.
- the aerosol generation device 100 may include, for each type of load 132, a database that stores the electrical resistance value of the load 132 and one of the corresponding slopes and intercepts of the temperature-resistance characteristic.
- the control unit 106 may calibrate one of the slope and the intercept of the temperature-resistance characteristic based on the sensor output value and the database.
- the controller 106 may also calibrate the other of the slope and intercept of the temperature-resistance characteristic based on the sensor output value and one of the slope and intercept of the calibrated temperature-resistance characteristic.
- the above-described database may be located outside the aerosol generation device 100, and the control unit 106 may communicate with the database to obtain necessary information.
- the above-mentioned database stores, for each type of load 132, the other of the electric resistance value of the load 132 at room temperature or the temperature at which aerosol generation occurs and the corresponding slope and intercept of the temperature-resistance characteristic. It is also good.
- step 1016 the control unit 106 updates the resistance value threshold R threshold used for determining whether the aerosol source is insufficient (for example, step 814 in FIG. 8).
- R threshold used for determining whether the aerosol source is insufficient
- the value of R threshold is changed from R 'to R 1 '.
- control unit 106 stores the stored values based on the correspondence between the sensor output value (voltage value, current value, resistance value, etc.) before the load 132 generates the aerosol and the room temperature. Temperature-resistance characteristics may be calibrated. Since the PTC characteristics are calibrated with reference to room temperature, the accuracy of the calibration for the PTC characteristics is improved.
- the control unit 106 sets a value between the sensor output value and the room temperature before the load 132 generates an aerosol. Based on the correspondence, the stored temperature-resistance characteristic may be calibrated. In this way, calibration is performed when conditions that are certain to reach room temperature are met. Therefore, it is more likely that the temperature of the load at the time of calibration is at room temperature, and the accuracy of calibration for the PTC characteristic is improved.
- the predetermined condition may be that a predetermined time has elapsed since the previous aerosol generation. Thereby, it becomes the conditions which regard the temperature of load as room temperature that predetermined time has passed since the last aerosol production. Therefore, the load at the time of calibration is sufficiently cooled and the possibility of staying at room temperature is increased.
- the aerosol generation device 100 includes: a cartridge 104A including a load 132 and a reservoir 116A storing an aerosol source; or an aerosol generating article 104B including a load 132 and an aerosol base 116B holding an aerosol source;
- a connection may be provided that allows for desorption of the cartridge 104A or insertion and removal of the aerosol generating article 104B.
- the predetermined condition described above may be that a predetermined time has elapsed since the cartridge 104A was attached to the connection portion or the aerosol generating article 104B was inserted to the connection portion.
- the load temperature is regarded as a room temperature. Therefore, the temperature of the load at the time of calibration is sufficiently cooled, and the possibility of staying at room temperature is increased.
- the aerosol generation device 100 is a temperature sensor that outputs any one of the temperature of electrical components constituting the main body 102 such as the power supply 110 and the control unit 106, or the internal temperature of the main body 102 or the ambient temperature. It may be included as the sensor 112.
- the predetermined condition described above may be that the temperature output from the sensor 112 is room temperature or that the absolute value of the difference between the temperature output from the sensor 112 and the room temperature is less than or equal to a predetermined threshold.
- Such conditions may also be conditions that regard the load temperature as room temperature. Therefore, when the temperature output from the sensor 112 is the temperature of the power supply 110, the temperature of the control unit 106, or the temperature inside the main body 102, the aerosol generation device 100 is not operating or consumes less power.
- the control unit 106 may control the load 132 not to generate an aerosol until the output value of the sensor is associated with the estimated value of the temperature corresponding to the output value.
- the temperature-resistance characteristic may or may not be calibrated depending on the output value of the sensor. According to this configuration, the aerosol is not generated until the resistance value is measured. Therefore, the occurrence of a situation where the temperature of the load at the time of calibration is much higher than room temperature can be suppressed. Furthermore, since the temperature-resistance characteristic before calibration is not used to generate an aerosol, it is possible to suppress spoiling of the aroma taste of the aerosol.
- control unit 106 may supply power from the power supply 110 to the load 132 that is smaller than the power required to raise the temperature of the load 132 to a temperature at which the load 132 can generate an aerosol.
- the control unit may further calibrate the temperature-resistance characteristic based on the output value of the sensor while supplying the predetermined power to the load 132.
- the predetermined power may be power that does not raise the temperature of the load 132 above the resolution of the sensor. In another example, the predetermined power may be power that does not raise the temperature of the load 132.
- control unit 106 is a correspondence between the output value of the sensor and the estimated value of the temperature of the load 132 corresponding to the output value, and information on the load 132 or the cartridge 104A including the load 132 (for example
- the slopes and intercepts of the stored temperature-resistance characteristics may be calibrated based on the coefficient indicating the inclination of the resistance characteristics). Thereby, not only the intercept but also the inclination is calibrated based on the information on the cartridge 104A. Therefore, even if different cartridges including loads 132 made of different metals are connected, highly accurate calibration can be performed on each cartridge.
- control unit 106 obtains information regarding the load 132 or the cartridge 104A from at least one of communication with an external terminal, identification information of the load 132, identification information of the cartridge 104A or the package of the cartridge 104A, and user input. You may
- FIG. 11A is a flowchart of an exemplary process for calibrating a temperature-resistance characteristic of a load, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.

- step 1108A when suction by the user is detected, the control unit 106 turns on the switch Q1.
- the first circuit 202 functions to generate an aerosol.
- step 1110A the control unit 106 switches the switch Q1 to the off state and turns the switch Q2 to the on state.
- the first circuit 202 ceases to function and the second circuit 204 instead functions.
- steps 1112A to 1116A is the same as the processing of steps 1012 to 1016 in FIG.
- FIG. 11B is a flowchart of an exemplary process of calibrating a temperature-resistance characteristic of a load, in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure.
- steps 1102B to 1112B are the same as the processes of steps 1102A to 1112A of FIG.
- step 1113B the control unit 106 determines whether the value acquired in step 1112B is less than a predetermined threshold. For example, the resistance value of the load 132 when the temperature of the load 132 reaches a temperature (for example, 300 ° C.) higher than the boiling point of the aerosol source may be set as the threshold. By performing the determination of step 1113 B, it is possible to determine whether the load 132 is in a state of generating an aerosol or whether the aerosol source is insufficient and an aerosol is not generated.
- a predetermined threshold for example, the resistance value of the load 132 when the temperature of the load 132 reaches a temperature (for example, 300 ° C.) higher than the boiling point of the aerosol source may be set as the threshold.
- step 1114B If the acquired value is less than the threshold ("Y" in step 1113B), the process proceeds to step 1114B.
- steps 1114B and 1116B are the same as the processes of steps 1114A and 1116A, and thus the description thereof is omitted.
- step 1113 B If the acquired value is equal to or greater than the threshold (“N” in step 1113 B), the processes of steps 1114 B and 1116 B are not performed, and the process 1110 B ends.
- control unit 106 corresponds the correspondence between the sensor output value and the temperature at which aerosol generation occurs when power sufficient to generate the aerosol is supplied to the load 132. And calibrate the stored temperature-resistance characteristics. Because the PTC characteristics are calibrated with reference to the aerosol generation temperature, the accuracy of the calibration for the PTC characteristics is improved.
- control unit 106 does not calibrate the stored temperature-resistance characteristic when the output value of the sensor when power sufficient to generate the aerosol is supplied to the load 132 is equal to or greater than the threshold.
- the control unit 106 does not calibrate the stored temperature-resistance characteristic when the output value of the sensor when power sufficient to generate the aerosol is supplied to the load 132 is equal to or greater than the threshold.
- the temperature (resistance value) of the load is extremely high, the PTC characteristic is not calibrated. Therefore, since the temperature of excessively high load in the case where the aerosol source is depleted is not mistakenly recognized as the aerosol generation temperature, it is possible to suppress significant deterioration in the accuracy of calibration for the PTC characteristic.
- control unit 106 does not calibrate the stored temperature-resistance characteristic when the amount of change in the sensor output value when the predetermined power is supplied to the load 132 is equal to or greater than the threshold.
- the PTC characteristic is not calibrated. Therefore, at the time of exhaustion of the aerosol source where an excessive load temperature fluctuation may occur, the PTC characteristics are not calibrated, so that it is possible to suppress significant deterioration of the calibration accuracy for the PTC characteristics.
- control unit 106 is responsive to the sensor output value when the load 132 is supplied with power sufficient for aerosol generation and is in a steady state at a value other than room temperature, and the temperature at which aerosol generation occurs. Based on the relationship, calibrate the stored temperature-resistance characteristics.
- FIG. 12 is a flowchart of an exemplary process for calibrating a temperature-resistance characteristic of a load, in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure.
- steps 1202 to 1212 is similar to the processing of steps 1002 to 1012 of FIG.
- the process of steps 1214 to 1218 is similar to the process of steps 1108A to 1112A of FIG. 11A.
- the control unit 106 determines that the correspondence between the sensor output value before the load 132 generates the aerosol and the room temperature (obtained by steps 1208 to 1212) and the power 132 sufficient to generate the aerosol. Calibrate the slopes and intercepts of the stored temperature-resistance characteristics based on the correspondence between the sensor output value when supplied to the sensor and the temperature at which aerosol generation occurs (obtained by steps 1214 to 1218) Do.
- the intercept and the slope of the PTC characteristic are calibrated. Therefore, it is not necessary to have a dedicated information acquisition means (for example, it is not necessary to embed the information necessary for calibration in the cartridge 104A), and the intercept and slope of the PTC characteristic can be calibrated in a simpler method.
- control unit 106 stores the temperature-resistance stored when the output value of the sensor when power sufficient to generate the aerosol is supplied to the load 132 is equal to or more than the threshold value. It is not necessary to calibrate the value characteristics.
- FIG. 13 is a graph illustrating that the temperature threshold for determining that the aerosol source is insufficient may become too high due to manufacturing variations of the load 132.
- Three straight lines shown in FIG. 13 show the temperature-resistance characteristic of the load (heater) 132 made of the same type of metal A.
- characteristics of the standard first shows the characteristics of the load 132-1
- a second load 132-2 dotted 1304 has an initial resistance value R 1 greater than the standard solid line 1302 has an initial resistance R are shown, and indicates the character of the second load 132-3 to dashed line 1306 has an initial resistance R 2 lower than the standard.
- the threshold value of the load resistance value for determining whether the aerosol source is insufficient is R threshold .
- the resistance value becomes R threshold . Therefore, even if R threshold is used as the threshold, the user is warned at a temperature lower than the standard temperature threshold 350 ° C., and thus no overheating occurs. Therefore, it can be said that the calibration of the temperature-resistance characteristic is not necessarily required for the second load 132-2.
- the resistance value becomes R threshold only when the temperature of the load reaches 370 ° C. Therefore, if R threshold is used as a threshold , a warning or the like is not performed until the temperature of the load 132-3 reaches a very high temperature of 370 ° C., so an overheat state may occur. Therefore, for the second load 132-3, it is necessary to calibrate the temperature-resistance characteristic.
- the temperature-resistance characteristic of the load 132 may be calibrated only when the initial resistance value of the load 132 falls below R stand shown in FIG.
- FIG. 14 is a flowchart of an exemplary process for calibrating a temperature-resistance characteristic of a load, in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure, taking into account the points pointed out with respect to FIG.
- steps 1402 to 1412 are the same as the processes of steps 1002 to 1012 in FIG.
- step 1413 the control unit 106 determines that the resistance value (or the voltage value, the current value, or the like related to the resistance value) of the load 132 at room temperature acquired in step 1412 is R stand (or this It is determined whether or not the voltage value, current value, etc. corresponding to
- step 1413 If the resistance value of the load 132 is less than R stand (“Y” in step 1413), the process proceeds to step 1414.
- the processes of steps 1414 and 1416 are the same as the processes of steps 1014 and 1016 in FIG.
- steps 1414 and 1416 are not performed, and the process ends.
- the control unit 106 may determine whether to perform calibration based on predetermined conditions.
- the predetermined condition is the temperature-resistance characteristic stored from the correspondence between the output value of the sensor and the estimated value of the temperature of the load 132 corresponding to the output value. If not calibrated, it may be determined that the temperature of the load 132 will be underestimated from the actual value.
- the predetermined condition may be that the output value of the sensor is smaller than a predetermined threshold.
- FIG. 15 is a graph showing an example of temperature-resistance characteristics of different loads (heaters) 132 made of different metals.
- a solid line 1502 an alternate long and short dash line 1504 and a dotted line 1506 show the characteristics of the load 132A made of metal A, the load 132B made of metal B and the load 132C made of metal C, respectively. Since the types of metals are different, the temperature coefficient of resistance is also different, and the slope of each characteristic is also different. Therefore, as illustrated, even if the initial resistance values R A , R B and R C of the load 132A, the load 132B and the load 132C are the same value, the resistance of each load when the temperature of each load reaches 350 ° C.
- R'A, R'B and R'C are different.
- the initial resistance values R A , R B and R C of the load 132A, the load 132B and the load 132C may be different values.
- the control unit 106 may measure the initial resistance value of the load 132 when the new cartridge 104A or the aerosol generating article 104B is inserted into the aerosol generating device 100. Next, the control unit 106 may calculate the resistance threshold used to determine the shortage of the aerosol source based on the temperature-resistance characteristic of the load 132 of the cartridge 104A or the aerosol generation article 104B. In one example, the control unit 106 may obtain information related to the load 132 or the cartridge 104A or the aerosol generating article 104B such as the temperature-resistance characteristic by communicating with an external terminal such as a server.
- the control unit 106 may also use such information as identification information included in the load 132 or the RFID tag of the cartridge 104A or the aerosol generation article 104B, identification information of the package of the cartridge 104A or the aerosol generation article 104B, input by the user, etc. You may get it.
- the aerosol generation device 100 includes an aerosol generating article including a cartridge 104A or a load 132 including a load 132 and a reservoir 116A storing an aerosol source, and an aerosol base 116B holding an aerosol source; Or you may provide the connection part which enables the insertion and removal of the aerosol generation
- the sensor may not be included in the cartridge 104A or the aerosol generating article 104B.
- the control unit 106 corresponds a correspondence between a value obtained by subtracting a predetermined value (for example, a resistance value at a point where the cartridge 104A is connected) from the output value of the sensor and the estimated value of the temperature of the load 132 corresponding to the output value.
- a predetermined value for example, a resistance value at a point where the cartridge 104A is connected
- the stored temperature-resistance characteristic may be calibrated based on According to this configuration, the sensor for measuring the resistance value is provided on the main body 102. Therefore, the increase in cost, weight, volume, etc. of the cartridge 104A or the aerosol generating article 104B can be suppressed.
- the aerosol generating device 100 is used in parallel connection with the first circuit 202, wherein the load 132 is used to detect the first circuit 202 used to atomize the aerosol source, and a value related to the resistance value of the load 132. And a second circuit 204 whose electric resistance value is larger than that of the first circuit 202.
- the aerosol generation device 100 has a dedicated circuit (second circuit 204) for voltage measurement. Therefore, the power of the power source 110 necessary for measuring the resistance value of the load 132 can be suppressed.
- the aerosol generating device 100 may include a circuit that electrically connects the power source 110 and the load 132.
- the sensor may output at least the value of the voltage applied to a portion of the circuit where the voltage applied changes due to the temperature change of the load 132.
- the control unit 106 may derive the electrical resistance value of the load 132 based on the value of the voltage applied to the entire circuit and the output value of the sensor. According to this configuration, the voltage sensor for measuring the voltage applied to the entire circuit and the voltage sensor for measuring the voltage applied to the point where the voltage applied changes due to the temperature change of the load 132 Only the voltage sensor may be used. Abstract
Description
RHTR(THTR)=(VHTR×Rshunt)/(VBatt-VHTR)
VHTR(THTR)=IHTR(THTR)×RHTR(THTR)
VHTR(THTR)=VBatt/{Rshunt+RHTR(THTR)}×RHTR(THTR)
=RHTR/{Rshunt+RHTR(THTR)}×VBatt
=1/{Rshunt/RHTR(THTR)+1}×VBatt
Vshunt(THTR)=VBatt-VHTR(THTR)
Vshunt(THTR)=VBatt-1/{Rshunt/RHTR(THTR)+1}×VBatt
=[1-1/{Rshunt/RHTR(THTR)+1}]×VBatt
RHTR(THTR)=(VHTR×Rshunt)/(VBatt-VHTR)
=(VBatt-Vshunt)×Rshunt/Vshunt
IQ2=Vout/(RHTR(THTR)+RShunt)
ΔIQ2=Vout/(RHTR(TR.T.)+RShunt)-Vout/(RHTR(Tdelep.)+RShunt)
ここで、RHTR(TR.T.)
Q=(mwick×Cwick)×(TB.P.-ΔTwick)
+(mcoil×Ccoil)×(TB.P.-ΔTcoil)
+(mliquid×Cliquid)×(TB.P.-ΔTliquid)
また、TB.P.
Q=(mwick×Cwick+mcoil×Ccoil+mliquid×Cliquid)
×(TB.P.-ΔT)
Q=(Σm×C)×(TB.P.-ΔT)
W=VHTR×IQ2
=(Vout-Vshunt)×IQ2
=(Vout-IQ2×RShunt)×IQ2
W=Q
(Vout-IQ2×RShunt)×IQ2=Q
-Rshunt×IQ2 2+Vout×IQ2=Q
Rshunt=Vout/IQ2-Q/IQ2 2
=(Vout/VHTR)×RHTR-(RHTR/VHTR)2×Q
