  • flush toilets are commonly referred to as flush toilets and usually comprise an upstream water supply to a water reservoir which is connected to; a toilet bowl which provides a pedestal for a user and in which the effluent is collected; and a drain pipe which removes the effluent and flushed water from the toilet bowl to a septic tank or into a downstream sewage system.

  • the invention further provides for a flush lever connector to be secured to the flush body sealing shaft and configured to operatively move the shaft between the closed and open positions.

  • the invention further provides for the opening of the flush body connector to be provided at a bottom end of the flush body connector.
  • the invention further provides for a plurality of equally spaced openings to be provided on the flush body connector. Preferably, three to six openings will be provided on the flush body connector.
  • the invention further provides for the flush body connector to have a plurality of, preferably three connection apertures to receive connectors of the reservoir connector.
  • the connectors of the reservoir connector will preferably be clip-fitted into or interlocked with the connection apertures of the flush body connector.
  • a flush body connector securable over a reservoir connector of a toilet water reservoir, the connector configured to accommodate or house a flush body sealing shaft which has a seal at its lower end and which shaft is slidably moveable relative to, or at least partly within the flush body connector between a closed position, wherein the seal of the shaft operatively seals over the reservoir connector, and an open position wherein a passage of water is operatively provided through an opening of the flush body connector to the outlet of the reservoir.
  • the invention further provides for the shaft to be slidably movable at least partly within the flush body connector.
  • the invention further provides for the opening of the flush body connector to be provided at a bottom end of the flush body connector.

  • a toilet flushing unit 10 for use in a toilet water reservoir is generally indicated by reference numeral 10.
  • the toilet flushing unit 10 comprises of a reservoir connector 12, a flush body connector 14, a flush body sealing shaft 16 and a flush lever connector 18.
  • the reservoir connector 12 is securable over an outlet of the reservoir 100 (shown in figures 8 & 9) by a screw-thread 20 which is complimentary to an internal screw-thread (not shown) on the base of the toilet reservoir 100 where an outlet of the toilet bowl is provided (not shown).
  • the reservoir connector 12 is hollow to allow passage of water to the reservoir outlet.
  • the reservoir connector 12 has suitable rubber seals/washers 22 as shown.
  • the reservoir connector 12 also has a frame 24 with three connectors 26 which can be clip-fitted or interlocked in complimentary shaped apertures 28 of the flush body connector 14.
  • the reservoir connector 12 serves the function of providing the fitment to the reservoir outlet, but also holds the flush body connector 14 in place over the reservoir outlet.
  • the flush body connector 14 has a hollow cylindrical portion 30 which houses the flush body sealing shaft 16 and allows movement of the shaft 16 within the flush body connector 14 in upward and downward directions during the flushing operation as will be described in more detail below.
  • the flush body connector 14 furthermore has openings 32 equally spaced at its bottom end. The number of openings may vary and does not necessarily have to be equally spaced. For example, in figure 6, the flush body connector 14 has three openings 32, whereas the embodiment of figure 7 has six openings 32.
  • the embodiment of figure 7 is preferred as the manufacturing process is simple and utilises a minimum amount of plastics material from which it is manufactured. Fins 33 provide reinforcement of the connector 14 as well as directing water flow to the openings 32.
  • the shaft 16 furthermore has a seat 34 with a rubber seal/washer 36 which operatively provides a seal or closure to the reservoir outlet when the toilet flushing unit is in a closed or resting position as shown in figure 8. This allows the water reservoir to be filled by a water delivery system 200 in the usual manner.
  • the flush body connector 14 is further configured to connect, through the shaft 16, to the flush lever connector, in this embodiment a flush lever connector arm 18 that is operable by a user by actuating a lever 38 in the known manner to actuate flushing of the unit 10. It will also be understood that the shaft 16 and arm 18 can be a single component.
  • the seal 36 of the shaft 16 provides a seal or closure to the reservoir outlet such that the reservoir is allowed to fill with water.
  • the shaft 16 is also provided with a hollow center 40 to allow an overflow of water in the reservoir therethrough when the water delivery system 200 fails, thereby acting as a measure to avoid overflow of the reservoir 100.
  • the shaft 16 is also telescopic and can be provided in various lengths to accommodate various reservoir- heights accordingly.
  • the configuration of the openings 32 of the flush body connector 14 is furthermore provided to optimise downward flow of water directly into the reservoir outlet taking water to the toilet bowl at an increased rate, making flushing more effective with less water volume required.
  • the water forces the seat 34 and seal 36 of the shaft 16 from the open position to the closed position as soon the downward pressure on the outside lever is interrupted. This means that the flushing of water is stopped immediately when the user releases the toilet lever, to allow the user to make a conscious decision on how much water is required in the flushing of the toilet.
  • This simple mechanism requires no force by the user and the flushing lever is simply released to stop flushing of the toilet.
  • the invention further provides retro-fitting of the unit 10 to existing toilet flushing units in an easy and effective manner in that the flush body connector 14 replaces the flush body connector A and vacuum cup B of the known toilet flushing units as shown in figure 1 and described in the background of the invention. Accordingly, the invention extends to the provision of the flush body connector 14 as a replacement part to existing toilet flushing units without having to change any of the other components. It is accordingly asserted that the abovementioned disadvantages of the prior art toilet flushing units are overcome or at least minimized.
  • the shaft 16 and arm 18 can be a single component or any other flush lever connector or component can be provided to actuate movement of the shaft between the two mentioned positions.
  • the configuration of the openings 32 can also be varied. Securing the various components to or over each other can also be done in various ways. The description above is presented in the cause of providing what is believed to be the most useful and readily understandable description of the principles and conceptual aspects of the invention. In this regard, no attempt is made to show structural details of the invention in more detail than is necessary for a fundamental understanding of the invention. The words used here should be interpreted as words of description rather than words of limitation.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne une unité de chasse d'eau de toilettes (10) destinée à être utilisée dans un réservoir d'eau de toilettes (100). Un raccord de réservoir (12) peut être fixé à une sortie du réservoir (100) avec un raccord de corps de chasse d'eau (14) qui peut être fixé sur le raccord de réservoir (12). Une tige d'étanchéité de corps de chasse d'eau (16) qui a un joint d'étanchéité (36) à son extrémité inférieure est mobile de manière coulissante par rapport au raccord de corps de chasse d'eau 14). Un élément de raccordement de levier de chasse d'eau (18) est fixé à la tige d'étanchéité de corps de chasse d'eau (16) et configuré pour déplacer fonctionnellement la tige (16) entre une position fermée, dans laquelle le joint d'étanchéité (36) de la tige (16) ferme hermétiquement le raccord de réservoir (12), et une position ouverte dans laquelle un passage d'eau est prévu à travers une ouverture du raccord de corps de chasse (14) vers la sortie du réservoir (100). L'invention concerne également un raccord de corps de chasse (14) qui peut être adapté à des unités de chasse d'eau de toilettes existantes.
