Definitions
- the invention refers to antiperspirant deodorant gel, which is a cosmetic personal care product containing active antiperspirant and deodorant ingredients and is intended to protect the skin from irritation by preventing and/or eliminating the unpleasant odour caused by sweating.
- the skin is an anatomical organ, an external body covering.
- the main functions of the skin are to protect the body from mechanical effects, pathogens and excessive water loss. It also serves for thermal insulation, temperature regulation, and as a receptor of some senses.
- the skin has a number of important features such as:
- Sweat contains water and dissolved salts (NaCl), end products from metabolism, e.g. urea, amines, mercaptans, etc. Sweat has an acidic reaction.
- Sebaceous glands are located all over the skin except for the feet and palms. Fat cells of the sebaceous glands are filled with oil droplets, which are enlarged, merged and pushed towards the periphery of the cell.
- the odour of sebum is determined by its composition (saturated and unsaturated free fatty acids, triglycerides, waxes, cholesterol and the esters thereof, etc.). As a result of the environment and the presence of enzymes, oxidation breakdown (lipidation) of the lipid components on the skin occurs and an unpleasant odour is formed.
- Antiperspirants and deodorants are popular personal care products used to prevent or eliminate sweat and organic smell caused by sweat separated through the skin.
- Antiperspirants typically prevent sweat by blocking or obstructing the sweat secretion glands, e.g. those located in the armpits. Deodorants counteract or mask unwanted odours caused by bacterial flora in the secreted sweat.
- antiperspirant salts are usually included in antiperspirant products at relatively high concentrations. These water-soluble salts are generally sticky in concentrated solutions, as they dry out and thus create an unpleasant feeling of stickiness in the armpits.
- the active ingredient contained in the product is aluminium zirconium trichlorohydrex - gly in the amount of 5-25%, as well as other ingredients such as stabilizers, emollients, preservatives, perfumes.
- compositions in which, irrespective of the product formulation, at least one active ingredient or active antiperspirant compound is contained that usually includes metal salts. It is assumed that the presence of metal salts may lead to reduced sweating, mainly due to diffusion of the occipital and apocrine glands through the sweat channels and hydrolysis in the sweat channels.
- metal salts are combined with proteins to form amorphous metal hydroxide agglomerate that remains in the sweat channels so that sweat cannot spread to the skin surface.
- Some active antiperspirant compounds that can be used include astringent metal salts such as inorganic and organic aluminium, zirconium and zinc salts, as well as their mixtures.
- the invention is designed to provide an antiperspirant deodorant gel ensuring an extended skin protection by preventing or completely eliminating the unpleasant odour caused by sweating, while significantly reducing traces on the skin and clothing, as well as reducing the effect of the product on the colouring of the clothes.
- the aim will be accomplished by providing a cosmetic formulating of deodorant gel containing the active substance aluminium zirconium octachlorohydrex gly and zinc ricinoleate, as well as accompanying ingredients such as stabilizers, emollients, preservatives, perfume flavours.
- the cosmetic composition contains an antiperspirant selected from the group of aluminium zirconium octachlorohydrex glicin complex, in an amount of aluminium zirconium octachlorohydrex from 8.15 - 28.75%, zinc ricinoleate 0.125 - 0.486%, glycine - 0.6 - 4.0%, tetrasodium glutamate diacetate - 0.110 - 0.495%, propanediol 0.01 - 2.00%, propylene glycol 5 - 25%, organic acid, preferably lactic acid 0.10 - 0.40 %, polyethylene glycol, polypropylene glycol dimethicone -0.85 - 3.5% and dimethicone - 0.8 - 2.5%, dimeticon -10-12%, perfume 0.10 - 1.00%, benzyl alcohol - 0.20 - 1.00 %, PEG - 40 hydrogenated castor oil 0.50 - 2.00 % and water
- the aluminium zirconium octachlorohydrex gly is preferably in an amount of 10 - 25%, even more preferably 13 - 22%, even more preferably 16 - 19%.
- the zinc ricinoleate is preferably in an amount of 0.18 - 0.42, even more preferably from 0.25 - 0.37%, and even more preferably from 0.30 - 0.34%.
- a polymer complex which contains a dominant antiperspirant and is used in many deodorants.
- the aluminium zirconium octachlorohydrex can be introduced by the aluminium zirconium octachlorohydrex gly complex comprising aluminium zirconium octachlorohydrex gly, aqua and glycine. Its effect is mainly to reduce the ecstatic sweat on the surface of the skin. As a result of the property of the adstringent substances to precipitate proteins, there is a contraction of the pores on the surface of the skin.
- Anhydrous aluminium zirconium octalorhydrex gly functions through diffusion in the sweat glands and formation of a colloidal plug that limits the flow of sweat to the surface of the skin.
- the plug gradually breaks and normal sweating resumes. Sweat movement is limited, it is collected into channels and sweat gland activity is weakened. As a result, astringent substances interact with surface proteins without penetrating into the skin.
- the proposed composition also includes glycine that is used by the body to produce proteins while also contributing to the transmission of chemical signals to the brain, thus affecting the fluid flow (water, sweat, lymph, blood) in the body.
- a chemical neutralizer for the unpleasant odorants such as a combination of zinc ricinoleate, tetrasodium glutamate diacetate, propanediol, and aqua.
- Zinc ricinoleate is surface-stabilized (skin, antiperspirant) and can quickly and easily absorb molecules with unpleasant odour from the gas phase.
- the gas phase is formed by gases discharged during the decomposition of sweat and "breathing" of the skin and has an unpleasant odour.
- Organic acids selected from the group of citric, malic, benzoic, salicylic acid, preferably lactic acid, which action is due to their interaction with the skin proteins, are used as astringent substances.
- Lactic acid is used in the proposed composition primarily to adjust the pH and to stabilize the composition.
- the presence of lactic acid in the specified range significantly reduces the formation of yellow spots on the tissues. This is alpha-hydroxy acid with low irritancy compared to other acids but in fact it is equally effective.
- Lactic acid has a hydrating and pH-regulating effect and thus inhibits the growth of foreign microorganisms on the skin. It is also part of the natural moisturizing system and the acid mantle of the skin and thus regulates the pH and bacterial colonization of the skin physiologically.
- the benzyl alcohol added is essentially a booster for inhibiting bacterial colonization of the skin. As an aromatic substance, it gives an excellent opportunity to obtain a complex of antimicrobial and perfume effect without further prominent bactericidal activity. Thus, overdosage can be avoided in the daily use of the product on the skin, and this is important to preserve its natural biological balance and to obtain quite a lesser number of resistant microbes.
- the formulation demonstrates the ability of a combination of silicone emulsifier, antiperspirant complex and dimethicone to facilitate transfer resistance. Silicone film forming materials also have shown dual function, also enhancing the sensory attributes.
- Linear dimethicone is used as a solvent and softening agent, the chain is modified in the a- and ⁇ -C polyether position.
- the length of the dimethicone and polyether composition chain is optimized to provide a silky feel and good emulsifying properties.
- Antiperspirant formulations based on polyethylene glycol, polypropylene glycol, dimethicone, and dimethicone provide rapid release of active ingredients from W/O or water-silicone (W/Si) emulsion.
- the rapid release of AP-active from based emulsions is documented by a simple test procedure: 5% of the antiperspirant emulsion (water-silicone emulsion) is dispersed in 95% water and maintained by stirring.
- the amount of active antiperspirant substance released in the aqueous phase of dispersion after 5 min, 1 h and 24 h of stirring is shown on shown in the below table.
- AP/Deo formulations based on a combination of the antiperspirant formulations ensures better release.
- propylene glycol is used in the above formula as a useful polyhydric alcohol. In addition to being used as humectant and solubilizer, it also helps to compare the refractive index of the two phases in order to obtain a clear emulsion.
- the gel deodorant, objecy of the invention be clarified in further detail by showing an example of its composition, not limited to the example below and is for illustration only.
- Deodorant gel Composition in percentage by weight % aluminium zirconium octachlorohydrex gly 17.82 %, glycine 1 -62 % propylene glycol 15.00 % polyethylene glycol, polypropylene glycol, dimethicone 2.5 % dimethicone 1.25 % dimethicone 10.00 % lactic acid 0.200 % zinc ricinoleate 0.315 % tetrasodium glutamate diacetate 0.195 %
- PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil 1.00 % perfume 0.70 % water up to 100 %
- composition described above in particular the water-in-oil emulsion, is prepared in the following order: a) mixing of the components propylene glycol, aluminium zirconium octachlorohydrex gly, glycine and water - Phase A b) the components of polyethylene glycol, polypropylene glycol, dimethicone and dimethicone are mixed in a separate container - Phase B c) compliance of the Phase B and Phase A refractive indices is performed, then Phase A is added to Phase B very slowly, while maintaining turbulent mixing; Mix at a high shear rate and high speed for 3-5 minutes after mixing to homogenizating and obtaining a clear gel.
