Definitions

  • the invention refers to antiperspirant deodorant gel, which is a cosmetic personal care product containing active antiperspirant and deodorant ingredients and is intended to protect the skin from irritation by preventing and/or eliminating the unpleasant odour caused by sweating.
  • the skin is an anatomical organ, an external body covering.
  • the main functions of the skin are to protect the body from mechanical effects, pathogens and excessive water loss. It also serves for thermal insulation, temperature regulation, and as a receptor of some senses.
  • the skin has a number of important features such as:
  • Sweat contains water and dissolved salts (NaCl), end products from metabolism, e.g. urea, amines, mercaptans, etc. Sweat has an acidic reaction.
  • Sebaceous glands are located all over the skin except for the feet and palms. Fat cells of the sebaceous glands are filled with oil droplets, which are enlarged, merged and pushed towards the periphery of the cell.
  • the odour of sebum is determined by its composition (saturated and unsaturated free fatty acids, triglycerides, waxes, cholesterol and the esters thereof, etc.). As a result of the environment and the presence of enzymes, oxidation breakdown (lipidation) of the lipid components on the skin occurs and an unpleasant odour is formed.
  • Antiperspirants and deodorants are popular personal care products used to prevent or eliminate sweat and organic smell caused by sweat separated through the skin.
  • Antiperspirants typically prevent sweat by blocking or obstructing the sweat secretion glands, e.g. those located in the armpits. Deodorants counteract or mask unwanted odours caused by bacterial flora in the secreted sweat.
  • antiperspirant salts are usually included in antiperspirant products at relatively high concentrations. These water-soluble salts are generally sticky in concentrated solutions, as they dry out and thus create an unpleasant feeling of stickiness in the armpits.
