Definitions
- the present invention relates to a car seat, in particular a seat having the possibility of improved adjustment with respect to those typically used and assembled in cars.
- the possibility of adjusting the seat has further fundamental importance since it allows the driver to position so as to have the maximum visibility of the outer environment and an optimum possibility of reaching all means for controlling the vehicle.
- the correct posture further allows a greater sensitivity and control of the vehicle: it improves the intervention reactivity on the controls and it guarantees a lower muscle fatigue.
- the recoil can reach directly the pelvis, without any type of absorption which would limit the damages thereof.
- the seats usually in use have at least an adjustment of the distance from the steering wheel and from the pedals and an adjustment of the backrest slope with respect to sitting.
- an adjustment of the sitting height with respect to the car floor can be provided and sometimes even of the sitting slope with respect to the floor itself.
- the object of the present invention is then to provide a car seat allowing to obviate the drawbacks mentioned above with reference to the known art. This is obtained by a seat equipped with a system for adjusting the sitting depth as defined in claim 1.
- Figure 1 represents the correct driving posture of the driver
- Figure 2 highlights one of the problems described previously, wherein, for a short-statured person, the upper portion of the calf annoyingly rests upon the sitting front portion;
- Figure 3 represents the solution commonly adopted by the short- statured people to solve the problem of too deep sitting
- Figures 4 and 5 represent a first embodiment of the present invention and in particular a way for adjusting the sitting depth
- Figures 6, 7 and 8 represent a second embodiment of the present invention, with an additional possible way for adjusting the sitting depth; and - Figures 9 and 10, at last, represent a possible variant which could be applied to each one of the embodiments of the present invention, allowing, apart from adjusting the sitting depth, even the height adjustment of sitting itself.
- the present invention by overcoming the above-mentioned problems, involves several and evident advantages.
- a seat according to the present invention thanks to its configuration, allows an additional adjustment with respect to the seats of the known art.
- the subject seat allows to adjust the sitting depth in order to allow people having different height to adopt the best possible posture when driving.
- the present seat allows to short-statured people to assume a comfortable position during the travel, by making that they could be comfortably rested upon the backrest without having to extend their legs excessively to reach the pedals.
- the subject seat guarantees to higher people a support for thighs which allows less fatigue of the legs' muscles while driving.
- the present invention in particular relates to a car seat equipped with an additional adjustment with respect to the seats of known art, which allows sitting to have a variable depth.
- a seat of known art has been designated as a whole with 1 , and it comprises a sitting surface 2 and a backrest 4.
- the sitting surface 2 is made integral to the car floor by means of a structural element 3.
- Such elements further define a sitting direction S, that is the direction thereto the seat user is directed when he/she is regularly sat thereon.
- the sitting surface 2 has a sitting depth P, measured along the sitting direction S.
- the sitting surface 2 can provide, relatively to the structural element 3, all adjustments already commonly adopted in the known art (sliding along the direction S, height, slope, etc.).
- sitting surface 2 and backrest 4 further define a sitting useful depth PU, that is representing the real sitting depth available to the user during the regular use of the seat.
- Figure 1 shows the correct posture to be assumed when driving a vehicle.
- the backrest 4 has to be sufficiently vertical so that the back is always well adhering to the backrest 4 itself, and with the extended, but not stretched-out, arms, he/she can reach comfortably the steering wheel.
- the position of the seat 1 is to be adjusted even based upon the length of the legs and upon the angle formed by the feet with the pedals: by deeply pressing the latter, the thigh should touch, but not press excessively the sitting surface 2 and in particular its front end faced towards the pedals.
- Figure 3 represents one of the solutions commonly adopted for solving the above-mentioned problems.
- Such solution provides the interposition of a thickening, such as for example a cushion, between the back of the driver and the backrest 4 of the seat 1. This allows to reduce the sitting useful depth PU allowing the driver to be able to assume a more comfortable and safer position.
- Figures 4 and 5 represent a first embodiment of a seat 10 according to the present invention.
- a seat 10 further comprises a mechanism for adjusting the sitting useful depth PU between a position of minimum depth MinP and a position of maximum depth MaxP, to guarantee the maximum comfort and maximum safety to people with different stature and physical structure.
- said adjusting mechanism comprises a sliding device, integrated to the sitting surface, which allows the backrest 4 to slide on said sitting surface 2 along the direction designated by the arrow F1 so that the seat 10 could be adjusted in variable way between a configuration characterized by the maximum sitting depth MaxP and a configuration characterized by the minimum sitting depth MinP (Figure 5).
- Said sliding device for example can be constituted by a toothed guide positioned fixed with respect to the sitting surface 2 and by an element integral to the backrest 4 and sliding inside said toothed guide.
- the sliding device is further equipped with a system for locking reversibly the sliding of the sliding element on the toothed guide.
- Said system for the reversibly locking for example can be formed by a pin apt to insert in anyone of the teeth of the toothed guide.
- a mechanical lever or an electric motor allows the sliding element to modify the position thereof with respect to the toothed guide, by making that the pin inserts in any other tooth of the guide, thus allowing to lock the backrest 4 with respect to the sitting surface 2 in any intermediate position between the position of minimum depth MinP and that of maximum depth MaxP.
- Figures 6, 7 and 8 represent a second embodiment of a seat 100 according to the present invention.
- the mechanism for adjusting the seat 100 comprises a device 101 for varying the sitting depth P.
- the sitting surface 2 is divided into two portions along the direction S, a front portion 6, preferably integral to the structural element 3, and a rear portion 5 thereon the backrest 4 is hinged.
- Said device 101 for varying the sitting depth implies that the two portions 5, 6 of the sitting surface 2 are in telescopic relation therebetween and then there is a mutual sliding of said two portions, as shown by the arrow F2. Such sliding then allows the seat 1 to be able to be adjusted in variable way between a configuration of the seat 2 so that the sitting useful depth PU is maximum MaxP and a configuration characterized by the minimum depth MinP ( Figure 8).
- the device 101 for varying the sitting depth can further provide a system for locking the sliding, for example constituted by a pin preventing the mutual sliding of the two sitting portions and which allows to adjust the sitting useful depth PU in any intermediate position between the position of minimum depth MinP and that of maximum depth MaxP.
- the mutual sliding of the two sitting portions can be actuated by a mechanical lever, by an electric motor, or by any other type of actuator allowing the continuous adjustment of sitting.
- the seat 10, 100 can include a second adjusting mechanism which allows to modify the height of the sitting surface 2 with respect to the car floor.
- such second adjusting mechanism comprises a device which connects the sitting surface 2 to the structural element 3.
- Said device preferably is constituted by at least a linear actuator 7 acting along the direction designated by the arrow F3 so that the distance between the sitting surface 2 and the structural element 3 and, consequently, the one between the sitting surface 2 and the car floor, could be adjusted.
- Such second adjusting mechanism in combination with the first one, allows to adjust the seat so as to guarantee the maximum comfort and the maximum safety to people having different stature and physical structure.
- the present invention has been sofar described with reference to preferred embodiments. It is to be meant that other embodiments belonging to the same inventive core may exist, as defined by the protective scope of the herebelow reported claims.
