Abstract
長手方向に誘電率が均一かつ長手方向に断面が同一形状を呈する線状の内部誘電体151と、誘電体151の外周を覆う位置に配設された可撓性外導体153とを有し、60GHz近傍以上のミリ波、サブミリ波以上の周波数帯域の電波を伝導する可撓性導波管150であって、外導体153は金属層部を有し、金属層部は内部誘電体151に対向する内周側部の形状が当該導波管長手方向に向けて周期的な形状変位構造であって、当該周期構造に起因する主反射帯域の中心波長をλmr、導波管の高次モードの遮断波長をλchとしたとき、λmr < λch を満たす周期構造を有する。
Description
本発明は、高周波の電波信号伝送に利用する導波管、より詳しくはミリ波またはサブミリ波帯以上の電波伝送に適した導波管、導波管を有する画像伝送装置、導波管を有する内視鏡および内視鏡システムに関する。
近年、いわゆるFTTH(Fiber To The Home)等の技術により、1Gbpsを超える通信速度を有する通信環境が一般の家庭にも浸透してきている。また、スマートフォン等の高い処理能力を有する端末が広く普及し、利用可能な通信技術、および、情報処理の速度、すなわち「ハード性能」が著しく向上してきている。
また、いわゆるFHD(Full High Definition)を超える4K/8K画像に代表される高精細/大容量映像の利用、インターネットを介した情報アクセスの拡大等により、個人、または企業において利用可能な情報の質と量、すなわち「ソフト利用」についても飛躍的に拡大している。
これらは、近年とくに注目をあびているビックデータ解析、ディープラーニング(深層学習)によるAI(artificial intelligence;人工知能)の発展など、新しい手法・付加価値の誕生にも大きく貢献している。
このように、「ハード性能」の向上と「ソフト利用」の拡大とが両輪となって近年の技術は著しく発展し、新しい付加価値が誕生している。その結果として、現時点の情報通信技術に求められる性能は、以前とは比べものにならないほど高いものになっている。そして、情報通信に必要な技術要素の中でも信号伝送線路に着目すると、この分野でも求められる性能は著しく高くなっていることが判る。
ここで、現在においては、“伝送距離が短く伝送速度の遅い領域においては電気インターコネクション(金属線による接続)が主に用いられる”、一方、“伝送距離が長く伝送速度の速い領域では光インターコネクション(光通信、すなわち光ファイバによる接続)が主に用いられる”といえる。
すなわち、例えば、数メートル程度での電気インターコネクションは、その利用できる限界が2.5Gbps程度の伝送速度であり、これを超えると光インターコネクション(光通信)が有力な手段となるといえる。
このように、伝送距離が長く伝送速度の速い領域では光通信が有力な手段とされるが、光通信には信号伝送の信頼性に関わる問題点が有ることが知られている。すなわち、一般に通信用光ファイバは石英ガラスを主成分とする1本の線で構成されることから、意図しない衝撃等の影響で信号伝送路である光ファイバが予期せず切断されることが起きる虞がある。
また同様に、光通信には接続性に関わる問題点があることも知られている。すなわち、通常利用される通信用光ファイバは光信号を伝送するコアと呼ばれる芯線の径がわずか50μm程度以下しかないことから、この接続にはμmオーダーという極めて高い位置決め精度が必要となるうえ、塵埃の影響で接続ができない虞さえある。
因みに、電気インターコネクション(金属線による接続)は、線路は一般に複数の細線を束ねて構成しており、切断される場合にも徐々に細線が切れていくため、通信性能は徐々に劣化し、通信性能の劣化を知ることで事前に修理などの対応をとることができる。また線路の接続も通常0.1mmオーダーの精度があればよく、塵埃の影響も排除しやすいなど特に困難を伴わない。
すなわち、上記の問題点の存在により、特に通信に高い信頼性が求められる用途、または使用において線路同士の接続が求められる用途においては、光通信は電気インターコネクションの代替にならないと考えられる。
上述した事情を鑑みて本発明者は、数センチメートル~5メートル程度以下の長さで5Gbps以上の通信速度を実現しうる方法として、また、リードワイヤによる信号伝送方式の課題である伝送速度の限界を克服しつつ、光ファイバによる信号伝送方式の課題をも克服する新しい信号伝送方式として電波と導波路を利用する技術を日本国特願2015-131913号において提案した。
すなわち、電気基板程度の大きさから一般配線程度の長さの通信に適用できる、ミリ波(サブミリ波を含む)以上の周波数を有する電波を伝送する可撓性導波管によれば、上述した課題(信頼性の問題、接続に関わる問題)を克服しながら、電気インターコネクションでは実現が困難な数十Gbpsオーダーの高速通信が可能な通信線路を実現することができる。
ところで、一般に、ミリ波(サブミリ波を含む)以上の周波数を有する電波を伝送する導波管において、可撓性を実現することは困難とされる。一方で、斯様な可撓性を有する導波管を実現する技術も知られている。
たとえば日本国特許第4724849号明細書に記載される方法では、内部誘電体に絶縁性の糸を用いることで導波管の可撓性を高めるとともに、その内部誘電体の糸の種類を変えることで誘電率に分布を発生し伝送特性を安定させることを意図するものである。
また、日本国特開平8-195605号公報に記載する技術では、外部導体を薄い導体で隙間無く貼り付けることで形成し、可撓性と伝送損失の低減とを併せて成し遂げようとするものである。
さらに、日本国特開2015-185858号公報には、誘電体の周囲に扁平な断面形状を有する所要数の平箔糸を、いわゆる組紐状に巻きつけることで伝送損失の少ない可撓性導波管を形成する技術が記載されている。
さらに、日本国特許第2800636号明細書には、ジャバラ部を有し、当該ジャバラ部において屈曲自在な外導体を備えた可撓性導波管を形成する技術が記載されている。
しかしながら、上述した日本国特開平8-195605号公報に記載の技術では、誘電体の周りを金属導体から成るテープで螺旋状に巻くため、金属層の内部表面には周期的な凹凸が発生する。また、導波管を曲げると誘電体と金属導体との間に隙間が生じ、その部分の金属層には皺ができてしまう。
ここで、この金属層の内部表面に発生する周期的な凹凸や皺は、導波管の伝送損失を著しく増大させるという問題点を包含する。そもそも、当該日本国特開平8-195605号公報においては、金属テープの幅および隙間の寸法について何等示されるものではない。
また、日本国特開2015-185858号公報に記載の技術(可撓性導波管)は、まず、同一形状の断面が長手方向に連続する可撓性を有する誘電体を芯として形成する。そして、前記誘電体の外側表面を、扁平な断面形状であってかつ導電性を有する所要数の平箔糸が当該誘電体に組紐状に巻きつけられて外導体を構成する。
このように構成される日本国特開2015-185858号公報に記載の可撓性導波管は、上述したように、芯である誘電体に平箔糸を組紐状に巻きつけて外導体を構成することから、その構造上、導波管内の内部表面に発生する周期的な凹凸または皺のほか、周期的な隙間(製紐孔)が生じることとなる。そして、この周期的な隙間(製紐孔)の存在が、可撓性導波管の伝送損失を増大させるという問題点を誘発する。
さらに、日本国特許2800636号明細書に記載の技術では、可撓性を確保するため、導波管の外導体部分にジャバラ部を設けているが、それによって生じる導波管内の凹凸間隔の周期性に関しては何等示されていない。しかしながら、この凹凸の寸法によって、伝送特性が著しく低下するという問題点を生じることとなる。
なお、前記において、「金属層の内部表面に発生する周期的な凹凸もしくは皺、または、周期的な隙間(製紐孔)が伝送損失を著しく増大させる」という課題を指摘したが、従来、この課題については、他の当業者からは何等指摘されるものではなかった。
すなわち、上述した課題は、本発明者が鋭意研究の上見出した事柄であり、本発明者による日本国特願2016-247031号において初めて指摘した事柄である。
本発明は、上記事情に鑑みてなされたものであり、上述した従来の問題点を根本的に解決し、所望のミリ波(サブミリ波を含む)以上の周波数の電波を伝送する導波管において適切な可撓性と優れた伝送特性とを両立する導波管、導波管を有する画像伝送装置、導波管を有する内視鏡および内視鏡システムを提供するものである。
本発明の一態様の導波管は、長手方向に誘電率が均一、かつ、長手方向に断面が同一形状を呈する線状の誘電体と、前記誘電体の外周を覆う位置に配設され、可撓性を有する筒状により形成された外導体と、を有し、60GHz近傍以上のミリ波またはサブミリ波以上の周波数帯域の電波を伝導する導波管であって、前記外導体は金属層部を有し、前記金属層部は前記誘電体に対向する内周側部の形状が当該導波管長手方向に向けて周期的な形状変位部を形成する周期構造を有し、前記周期構造は、当該周期構造に起因する主反射帯域の中心波長をλmr、前記導波管の高次モードの遮断波長をλchとしたとき、

本発明の一態様の画像伝送装置は、前記導波管を有する画像伝送装置であって、前記導波管は、所定の画像信号を伝送する。

本発明の一態様の内視鏡システムは、前記内視鏡と、前記導波管により伝送された所定の画像信号に対して所定の画像処理を施す画像処理部と、を具備する。
以下、図面を参照して本発明の実施の形態を説明する。

<第1の実施形態>

図1に示すように、内視鏡システム1は、いわゆる上部消化管用の内視鏡システムであって、被検体Pの体腔内に先端部を挿入することによって被写体Pの体内画像を撮像し当該被写体像の画像信号を出力する撮像部を備える内視鏡2と、内視鏡2における前記撮像部から出力される画像信号に対して所定の画像処理を施す画像処理部を備えるとともに内視鏡システム1全体の動作を統括的に制御するビデオプロセッサ3と、内視鏡2の先端から出射するための照明光を発生する光源装置4と、ビデオプロセッサ3において画像処理が施された画像を表示する表示装置5と、を主に備える。
内視鏡2は、先端部に前記撮像部を備えると共に主として可撓性を有する細長形状部により構成される挿入部6と、挿入部6の基端側に接続され各種の操作信号の入力を受け付ける操作部7と、操作部7から基端側に向けて延出されビデオプロセッサ3および光源装置4と接続するユニバーサルコード8と、を備える。
ここで内視鏡2は、挿入部6の先端部に配設した撮像部とビデオプロセッサ3における画像処理部との間において、挿入部6における前記撮像部から当該挿入部6、前記操作部7および前記ユニバーサルコード8のそれぞれ内部を経由してビデオプロセッサ3の画像処理部に至るまで延設され、撮像部からの画像信号等の伝送するための信号伝送路を備える。
そして、本実施形態に係る内視鏡システムにおいては、前記信号伝送路をミリ波またはサブミリ波(以下、場合により代表してミリ波と記載する)を通す導波路により構成されることを特徴とする(当該「導波路」については、後に詳述する)。
図1に戻って、挿入部6は、最先端部に配設された、前記撮像部を構成する撮像素子22等を内蔵した先端硬性部10と、当該先端硬性部10の基端側に配設され、複数の湾曲駒によって構成された湾曲自在な湾曲部9と、当該湾曲部9の基端側に接続され、可撓性を有する長尺状の可撓管部と、を有する。
また、図2に示すように、本実施形態において挿入部6の最先端に配設された先端硬性部10には、被検体像を入光する撮像光学系21と、撮像光学系21の後方に配設され、被検体像を撮像して光電変換により所定の画像信号を出力する撮像素子22等を含む撮像ユニット20と、が配設されている。
前記撮像ユニット20は、前記撮像光学系21の結像位置に設けられ、撮像光学系21が集光した光を受光して電気信号に光電変換する前記撮像素子22と、撮像素子22の近傍基端側に配設され、当該撮像素子22を駆動すると共に撮像素子22から出力された撮像信号に所定の処理を施すドライバIC23と、ドライバIC23の基端側に設けられ、導波路(可撓性導波管)150(詳しくは後述する)を介して信号の送受信をするための送受信アンテナ27(詳しくは後述する)と、を有する。
前記撮像素子22は、本実施形態においては、CMOS(Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor)イメージセンサであって、かつ、いわゆるフルハイビジョン相当以上の画素数である200万画素以上の画素数を有するイメージセンサを採用する。
前記ドライバIC23は、撮像素子22が出力した電気信号に対してノイズ除去およびA/D変換を行うアナログフロントエンド(AFE)24と、撮像素子22の駆動タイミングおよびアナログフロントエンド(AFE)24等における各種信号処理のパルスを発生するタイミングジェネレータ(TG)25と、前記送受信アンテナ27を接続し、前記可撓性導波管150を介してアナログフロントエンド(AFE)24が出力したデジタル信号をビデオプロセッサ3における画像処理部との間で送受信するための送受信回路26と、撮像素子22の動作を制御する図示しない制御部と、を有する。
前記送受信回路26は、いわゆるMMIC(monolithic microwave integrated circuit;モノシリックマイクロ波集積回路)により形成される、ミリ波・サブミリ波通信回路である。
また前記ドライバIC23は、本実施形態においては、前記アナログフロントエンド(AFE)24、タイミングジェネレータ(TG)25、送受信回路26等の各回路が全てシリコンCMOSプロセスにより作成され、十分に小型化されている。
また、撮像素子22とドライバIC23とは、セラミック基板28を介して接続され、また、当該セラミック基板28(図3等参照)にはコンデンサ29等の複数の受動部品が搭載されている。
一方、ビデオプロセッサ3は、内視鏡2における前記撮像ユニット20から出力される画像信号に対して所定の画像処理を施す前記画像処理部としての画像信号処理回路31と、内視鏡2における撮像素子22等に対して供給するための電源を生成する電源供給回路32と、前記可撓性導波管150を介して内視鏡2における撮像ユニット20と所定の信号の送受信を行うための送受信回路33と、送受信回路33に接続された送受信アンテナ34と、を備える。
なお、前記画像信号処理回路31は、撮像素子22およびドライバIC23を制御するための制御信号(例えば、クロック信号、同期信号等)を生成し、前記撮像素子22およびドライバIC23に向けて送出する。
なお、ビデオプロセッサ3における前記送受信回路33も、前記送受信回路26と同様に、いわゆるMMIC(monolithic microwave integrated circuit;モノシリックマイクロ波集積回路)により形成される。
また、図2に示すように、内視鏡2における前記挿入部6、操作部7およびユニバーサルコード8内には、上述したように信号伝送路としての前記可撓性導波管150が内設されるが、これらユニバーサルコード8等の内部には前記可撓性導波管150と並行して、各種信号線が配設される。
すなわち、ユニバーサルコード8内には、図2に示すように、ビデオプロセッサ3における画像信号処理回路31から供給される各種制御信号を伝送する制御信号線41、電源供給回路32から供給される電源を伝送する電源線42およびグランド線(GND線)43が、それぞれ配設される。
そして、内視鏡2における撮像素子22およびドライバIC23における前記各回路には、前記制御信号線41を介して所定の制御信号(例えば、クロック信号、同期信号等)が供給されるようになっている。
同様に、内視鏡2における前記撮像素子22およびドライバIC23における前記各回路には、前記電源線42およびグランド線(GND線)43を介して、ビデオプロセッサ3の電源供給回路32から電源が供給されるようになっている。
<可撓性導波管および送受信回路並びに撮像ユニットについて>
次に、本実施形態にかかる内視鏡システムにおける導波路(可撓性導波管)および送受信回路、並びにこれらの周辺回路(撮像ユニット等)について説明する。

本発明は、誘電率の高さ、誘電正接の小ささ、適切な可撓性の3条件を適切に満たす誘電体混合材料を含むミリ波領域(サブミリ波を含む)で用いる可撓性導波管、当該可撓性導波管を有する画像伝送装置、当該可撓性導波管を有する内視鏡、および、内視鏡システムを提供する。
また、本発明は、当該内視鏡における撮像部とビデオプロセッサにおける画像処理部とを結ぶ信号伝送方式として従来用いられてきた、リードワイヤによる信号伝送方式および光ファイバによる信号伝送方式に代わり、ミリ波またはサブミリ波(おおよそ30~600GHzの周波数を有する電波)を通す導波路(可撓性導波管)による信号伝送方式を新たに提案するものでもある。
なお、本実施形態においてミリ波、サブミリ波は、ミリからサブミリオーダ(0.5~10mm程度)の波長をもつ電波を指すものとする。
図2に示すように、撮像ユニット20は、挿入部6の最先端に配設された先端硬性部10において、被検体像を入光する撮像光学系21の後方に配設される。また、撮像ユニット20は、上述したように、被検体像を撮像して光電変換により所定の画像信号を出力する撮像素子22等を含むとともに、当該撮像ユニット20からは挿入部基端側に向けて導波路(可撓性導波管)150が延設されるようになっている。
また撮像ユニット20は、上述したように、撮像光学系21が集光した光を受光して電気信号に光電変換する前記撮像素子22と、撮像素子22の近傍基端側に配設され、当該撮像素子22を駆動すると共に撮像素子22から出力された撮像信号に所定の処理を施すドライバIC23と、ドライバIC23の基端側に設けられ、可撓性導波管150を介して信号の送受信をするための送受信アンテナ27と、を有する。
ドライバIC23は、上述したように、アナログフロントエンド(AFE)24、タイミングジェネレータ(TG)25、送受信回路26および図示しない制御部等を有するが、撮像素子22とはセラミック基板28を介して接続されるようになっている。
<可撓性導波管の構成>
図3は、第1の実施の形態の可撓性導波管および撮像ユニットの構造を示した要部拡大斜視図であり、図4は、第1の実施の形態の可撓性導波管および撮像ユニットの構造を一部断面にて示した要部拡大斜視図である。また、図5は、第1の実施の形態の可撓性導波管に係る外導体および内部誘電体の構成を示した要部拡大斜視図であり、図6は、第1の実施の形態の可撓性導波管における長手方向に垂直な方向の断面を示した要部拡大断面図である。

なお、図3~図6において、可撓性導波管150の外導体153は所定の厚みを持って表現されているが、図面は模式的なものであり、当該外導体153の形状、各部材の厚みと幅との関係、各部材の比率等は現実とは異なる。すなわち本実施形態において外導体153は、いわゆる長手方向に向かって周期的な形状変位部を形成する(たとえば、蛇腹形状を呈する)ものであるが、詳細については後述するものとする。
前記ドライバIC23の基端側には、図3、図4に示すように、前記ドライバIC23のパッケージに一体化された前記送受信アンテナ27を挟んで、ミリ波またはサブミリ波を通す前記可撓性導波管150の先端部が接続されている。
この可撓性導波管150(以下、導波管150とも記す)は、可撓性を有し、先端硬性部10に配設された前記ドライバIC23にその先端側が接続された後、挿入部6の基端側に向けて延出されるようになっている。
より詳しくは、可撓性導波管150は、挿入部6においてドライバIC23よりさらなる基端側、すなわち、先端硬性部10における前記ドライバIC23の配設箇所より基端側部をはじめ、より基端側の前記湾曲部9および可撓管部を含めた挿入部6の内部を挿通した後、操作部7内部およびユニバーサルコード8の内部を挿通し、ビデオプロセッサ3に至る位置に配設されるようになっている。
なお、前記可撓性導波管150の基端側は、ユニバーサルコード8の一端に設けたコネクタにおける変換を経てビデオプロセッサ3に接続されるものであってもよい。
前記可撓性導波管150は、撮像ユニット20とビデオプロセッサ3における前記画像処理部(画像処理回路31)とを結ぶ信号伝送路であって、少なくとも一部がミリ波またはサブミリ波を伝搬する導波路である。
<可撓性導波管における内部誘電体および外導体>
本実施形態において前記可撓性導波管150は、長手方向に誘電率が均一、かつ、長手方向に断面が同一形状を呈する線状の内部誘電体151と、前記内部誘電体151の外周を覆う位置に配設され、可撓性を有する筒状により形成された金属層である外導体153を有する。

前記内部誘電体151は、長径と短径との比率が長手方向において一定となる断面形状を有し、具体的には図6に示すように、長辺と短辺とを有する矩形形状を呈し、

因みに、本実施形態において、「誘電率が均一」とは、導波管内部を伝搬する電波(ミリ波またはサブミリ波)の波長オーダーの寸法でみたときに均一であることを意味するものである。すなわち、波長オーダーよりも1~2桁以上寸法の異なる構造による誘電率分布は、導波管内部を伝搬する電波には影響を与えないため、本実施形態においては、これを含めて誘電率が均一と表現している。
なお、本実施形態において内部誘電体151は、母材である樹脂材料(例えばPTFE等の無極性樹脂)と結晶材料(例えばαアルミナ等の誘電損失の小さい結晶材料を粉末化したもの)とを混合した誘電体混合材料の利用を想定するが、この場合には混合される誘電体材料は前記波長よりも遥かに小さい。これにより、樹脂材料と結晶材料の誘電率の違い、または、微細な構造は導波管内部の電波に影響を与えず、平均した誘電率のみが伝送特性に影響する。
一方、外導体153は、内部誘電体151の外周部を覆うように配設された所定の金属層部を含み、当該金属層部の導電率は純銅相当の59×106S/mに設定される。なお、ここでは導電率を一意に定めたが、本発明において金属層部の導電率は、これに限定されず、実施形態においては、導電率の良い金属層を用いることが好ましい。また、本実施形態において外導体153は周期的な形状変位部を形成する特徴ある構成を有するが、その構成については後に詳述する。
なお、本実施形態においては、上述したように、内部誘電体151は比誘電率εr=4.5の誘電体にて構成されるが、当該可撓性導波管150における内部誘電体は、たとえば、図7、図8に示すように、長手方向に垂直な断面において相対的に内側に位置する第1の誘電体151Aと、長手方向に垂直な断面において前記第1の誘電体151Aより外側に位置し(かつ、第1の誘電体151Aの外周部の全周を覆うように配置され)、前記第1の誘電体151Aよりも低い誘電率を備える第2の誘電体152Aと、を有するような構成であってもよい。
図7は、第1の実施の形態の第1変形例に係る可撓性導波管に係る外導体および内部誘電体の構成を示した要部拡大斜視図であり、図8は、第1の実施の形態の第1変形例に係る可撓性導波管における長手方向に垂直な方向の断面を示した要部拡大断面図である。
なお、この変形例において外導体153Aは、前記誘電体(第1の誘電体151Aおよび第2の誘電体152A)の外周を覆う位置に配設される。また、この変形例において前記第1の誘電体151Aは、長径と短径との比率が長手方向において一定となる断面形状を有し、前記第2の誘電体152Aは、前記第1の誘電体151Aと前記金属層である外導体153Aとの間に挟まれる領域に配設される。
そして、図7、図8に示すように、この変形例の可撓性導波管150Aにおいて第1の誘電体151Aおよび第2の誘電体152Aの比誘電率は、それぞれ、

<内部誘電体の特徴>
次に、本実施形態の可撓性導波管150の内部に配設される、内部誘電体151(および変形例の可撓性導波管150Aにおける第1の誘電体151Aおよび第2の誘電体152A)の特徴(効果)について説明する。

本実施形態の可撓性導波管150において前記内部誘電体151は、上述したように、長径と短径との比率が長手方向において一定となる断面形状を有する。すなわち、長手方向に安定して長径と短径との比率が一定した断面形状が延出されることとなり、当該誘電体内部を伝送する電波の伝送モードが安定する。
さらに可撓性導波管150は、上述したように、内部誘電体151において長手方向に安定して長径と短径との比率が一定した断面形状が延設されることにより、外部から印加される外力により導波管自体が曲折されたとしても当該曲折に起因する伝送損失の増大が抑えられ、結果として伝送損失量が安定するという効果を奏する。
また、上述した変形例の可撓性導波管150Aにおいては、第2の誘電体152Aは第1の誘電体151Aよりも低い誘電率を備える。すなわち、第1の誘電体151Aの誘電率が第2の誘電体152Aの誘電率よりも高いことから、かつ、第2の誘電体152Aは、第1の誘電体151Aの外周部の全周を覆うように配置されることから、可撓性導波管150A内を伝送する電磁波のエネルギーを第1の誘電体151Aに閉じ込めることができる。
その結果、本変形例の可撓性導波管150Aにおいては、金属層である外導体153Aに起因する伝送損失の発生を抑えることができる。
なお、変形例の可撓性導波管150Aにおける第1の誘電体151Aおよび第2の誘電体152Aに関するその他の構成、作用効果については、本発明者が先に出願した日本国特願2016-247031号に記載する第1の誘電体および第2の誘電体と同様であるので、ここでの詳しい説明は省略する。
<周期性凹凸を形成する導波管における反射帯の発生原理>
ここで、本発明に関し、周期性凹凸を形成する導波管において反射帯が生じる原理について、図9~図18を参照して説明する。

<光学多層膜に係る多層膜干渉の理論について>
まず、図9は、本発明に関し周期性凹凸を形成する導波管において反射帯が生じる原理を説明するための説明図であって、多層膜干渉に関する光学多層膜の一構成例を示した要部断面斜視図であり、図10は、本発明に関し周期性凹凸を形成する導波管において反射帯が生じる原理を説明するための説明図であって、多層反射膜に所定の入射光が入射した際の多重反射を示した図である。
まず、図9は、本発明に関し周期性凹凸を形成する導波管において反射帯が生じる原理を説明するための説明図であって、多層膜干渉に関する光学多層膜の一構成例を示した要部断面斜視図であり、図10は、本発明に関し周期性凹凸を形成する導波管において反射帯が生じる原理を説明するための説明図であって、多層反射膜に所定の入射光が入射した際の多重反射を示した図である。
上述したように、「金属層の内部表面に発生する周期的な凹凸もしくは皺、または周期的な隙間(製紐孔)が伝送損失を著しく増大させる」ことは、本発明者が見出し、日本国特願2016-247031号において初めて指摘した事柄であるが、先ずはこの点について補足して説明する。
そもそも当業者において、マイクロ波~ミリ波帯における導波管は良く知られた伝送線路でありながら、利用の難しい線路として認知され、他に代替の利かない用途のみに利用されてきた。特にミリ波帯以上においては導波管の内部にキズを含めた凹凸があるだけで伝送損失が大きくなることから、導波管の内部を研磨するなどの対策が採られ、結果として「導波管」は「高価な伝送線路」との認識が一般的となっている。
このような状況の中、本発明者は、「マイクロ波帯においては日本国特開2015-185858号公報に示すような技術に因って低損失な伝送が可能である」点に鑑みて研究を重ねた結果、「上記金属層の内部表面に発生する周期的な凹凸もしくは皺、または周期的な隙間(製紐孔)で微小な波の反射が発生し、この微小な波の多重反射が伝送特性悪化の原因ではないか」、また「この現象はミリ波帯において急激にその効果を増し、ミリ波帯における導波管利用の妨げになっている」との推論に達した。
上記推論においては、波の多重干渉における「多層膜干渉」という現象とのアナロジーを考慮した。因みに、多層膜干渉はその名のとおり、図9に示すような屈折率の異なる薄膜を多重に積層した光学多層膜(図9に示すように所定の基材に高屈折率層と低屈折率層とを積層した光学多層膜)において観察される現象であり、光学分野では知られた現象である。
多層膜干渉は、このような光学多層膜(例として、図10に示す如く屈折率が異なる誘電体膜が周期性をもって重なった膜)に膜の厚さと同等程度の波長の光が入射したとき、光は屈折率の異なる薄膜の各界面でそれぞれ反射・透過し、この反射・透過した光が(波として)干渉効果を生むことにより生じ得る(図10参照)。すなわち、膜厚(光路長)がλ/4のときに多重反射が生じる。
この多層膜干渉の理論が教えるところに拠れば、前記薄膜の各界面でそれぞれ反射・透過した光(波)は、積層される薄膜の積層周期を“L1”としたとき、
λ/4=L1/2
であることから、次式(1)によって与えられる波長λrにおいて大きい反射帯(主反射帯)を生じる。

上式(1)において「屈折率と厚さとを掛け合わせる」のは、物質内部で光(波)の波長が短くなることを考慮し換算しているためである。なお、詳細な理論はここでは割愛し、成書に譲る。
なお、上記「反射帯」は、その周波数帯域周辺にも細かい反射帯を生じること、または、その高調波成分である反射帯(整数倍の周波数、すなわち整数で割った波長に生じる反射帯。以下これを「高次反射帯」と呼ぶ)を持つことも、光学分野では良く知られることである。
また、光学分野でもより狭い技術分野(光学薄膜分野)では、光学多層膜がより複雑な積層構造を持つ場合には、前記主反射帯および前記高次反射帯の整数倍となる波長帯域にも反射帯が形成されうる(この「反射帯」を前述の高次反射帯に対して、ここでは以降、「低次反射帯」と呼ぶ)ことが知られている。なお、この「低次反射帯」の形成については、本発明者が先に提案した日本国特開2011-242237号公報に詳しくここでの詳細な説明については割愛するが、当該本願明細書においても、後に説明する。
<周期性凹凸を形成する導波管における反射帯の影響を回避することの有効性>
これまで、「光学多層膜に係る多層膜干渉の理論」について説明したが、この多層膜干渉の理論を参照して、本願発明を特徴づける「周期性凹凸を形成する導波管における反射帯の影響を回避することの有効性」について説明する。

図11は、本発明に関し周期性凹凸を形成する導波管において反射帯が生じる現象を説明するための説明図であって、当該方形導波管のシミュレーションモデルの長手方向の縦断面を示した要部拡大断面図であり、図12は、本発明に関し周期性凹凸を形成する導波管において反射帯が生じる現象を説明するための説明図であって、当該導波管のシミュレーションモデルの長手方向の縦断面の位置を拡大して示した要部拡大断面図である。さらに、図13は、本発明に関し周期性凹凸を形成する導波管において反射帯が生じる現象を説明するための説明図であって、当該導波管に所定の入射光が入射した際の多重反射を示した図である。
いま、たとえば図11に示すように、導波管の内部に単純な凹凸が形成されているシミュレーションモデルを考える。図11において、導波管50Sは、長手方向に誘電率が均一、かつ、長手方向に断面が同一形状を呈する線状の内部誘電体51Sと、当該内部誘電体51Sの外周を覆う位置に配設され、可撓性を有する略筒状により形成された金属層である外導体53Sを有する。また、当該モデルにおいては、外導体53の内周面には、周期的な凹凸54Sが形成されているものとする。
一方、図12は、当該導波管50Sのシミュレーションモデルにおける所定部位55Sを拡大して示した要部拡大断面図である。なお、図12に示すように、当該導波管50Sのシミュレーションモデルにおける凹凸54Sは、周期長L=0.66mm~2.0mmの周期性を有して形成されるようになっており、前記内部誘電体51Sの比誘電率εrは2.0としている。
この図11、図12に示す如き周期性凹凸を形成する導波管に対して所定の入射光が入射すると、上述した多層膜干渉の例(図10参照)にならって、図13に示すように多重反射が生じるものと考えられ、図12に示すように前記多層膜干渉で知られる式(1)における“L1”に相当する周期長を凹凸の周期長Lとして定義することができる。
ここで、たとえば、このモデルにおいて周期性凹凸54Sの周期長Lを0.98として、式(1)に倣って反射帯の形成される波長λrを計算すると、
λr=2×L1=2×0.98×√(2.0)=2.77mm

ここで上記“L1”の定義にある凹凸周期長Lおよび√(内部誘電体の誘電率)は、多層膜干渉理論とのアナロジーから式(1)の“L1”の定義に倣って定義しており、凹凸の周期長Lは前記多層膜モデルにおける薄膜の厚さに相当し、√(内部誘電体の誘電率)は前記多層膜モデルにおける屈折率に相当する。なお、前記屈折率と誘電率の関係は、電磁気学理論の教える関係に即す。また、上式に拠る計算結果である波長λr=2.77mmは、周波数に換算すると108GHzに相当する。
本発明者は、図11および図12に示すシミュレーションモデルを用いて電磁界シミュレータを用いた伝送特性シミュレーションを実施した。図14は、本発明に関し周期性凹凸を形成する導波管に係るシミュレーションモデルの伝送特性を示した図である。
図14における“周期長L=0.98”で示される特性線に示されるように、当該シミュレーションモデルにおいては、前記式(1)から予測される波長の近く(概ね115GHzを中心)に反射帯が形成されていることがわかる。
そして、このシミュレーション結果は、導波管50Sの内部に形成された周期性凹凸54Sに起因して反射帯(主反射帯)が形成されるという推論を裏付けるものである。
因みに、図14における“周期長L=2.0”および“周期長L=0.66”で示される特性線は、それぞれ、導波管内部の周期性凹凸の周期長Lが2.0mmおよび0.66mmの場合についてシミュレーションした結果である。
これら周期性凹凸の周期長Lが、2.0mmおよび0.66mmの場合において、式(1)により反射帯の形成される波長λrを計算すると、以下の結果、
λr=2×2.0×√(2.0)=5.66mm (53.0GHz相当)
λr=2×0.66×√(2.0)=1.87mm (160.7GHz相当)
が得られる。

ここで、図14におけるシミュレーション結果によると、例えば、L=2.0mmの場合でみれば、計算上は式(1)に拠ると中心周波数53GHzに形成されるべき反射帯が、シミュレーション結果によると概ね周波数66GHzを中心に形成されていることがわかる。
このように、計算上の反射帯とシミュレーション結果とでは、中心周波数が13GHzほどの波長のずれがあるが、これは導波管の理論にある導波管内部において電波の波長がずれる(このずれた波長を管内波長λgとよぶ)現象により説明できる。すなわち、導波管の理論に拠れば、上式において導出される波長λrは、導波管の内部における波長λgとして扱うのが正しい。
ここで、導波管における遮断波長(導波管の形状、構成により一意に決まる波長であって、この波長よりも長い電磁波は導波管内部に存在することができない。以下、遮断波長とも言う)をλc、自由空間中の波長をλとしたとき、これらの間の関係は、次式

シミュレーションモデルの導波管における遮断波長λcが7.52mmであることを考慮して、上記関係式から自由空間中の波長λを計算すると、
λ=λg/√(1+(λg/λc)2)=4.52mm (66.4GHz相当)となり、図14におけるシミュレーション結果に一致する。

因みに、周期性凹凸54Sの周期長Lを0.98として計算したλrと図14に示すシミュレーション結果の間にある周波数のずれも、同様の考え方でより厳密に一致することが確認できる。
一方、周期長L=0.66mmの場合では、シミュレーションの範囲外である160GHzに反射帯があることがわかる。このことから、シミュレーション結果の150GHz付近にある波形の乱れは、160GHz帯に生じている反射帯の裾野であると推測できる。
これらのシミュレーション結果から、式(1)による反射帯形成の予測とシミュレーション結果とが一致することが判る。すなわち、上述した「上記金属層の内部表面に発生する周期的な凹凸もしくは皺、または周期的な隙間(製紐孔)で微小な波の反射が発生し、この微小な波の多重反射が伝送特性悪化の原因になっている」との推論は正しく、その振る舞いは、式(1)を含めて多層膜干渉とのアナロジーにより(少なくとも近似的には)予測が可能であるといえる。
ここで、導波管の理論より、導波管内部に存在しうる電磁波について補足を加える。
一般に、導波管内部の電磁波には、その内部を伝送する電磁界の形態から、固有の伝送モードが存在する。伝送モードには進行方向電界成分を持たないTE波と、進行方向に磁界成分を持たないTM波があり、それぞれ導波管短辺方向に対して定義されるモード次数mと、導波管長辺方向に対して定義されるモード次数nによりモードを定義できる。例えば図11、図12に示す如き方形導波管では、図15に示すような伝送モードが存在しうる。
これら伝送モードにおける遮断波長については、図16に示す如き導波管の長辺をa、短辺をb、内部誘電体の比誘電率をεr、内部誘電体の比透磁率をμrとし、導波管短辺方向のモード次数をm、導波管長辺方向のモード次数をnとしたとき、次式により与えられる。
また、多くの伝送モードの中で、最も遮断波長の長いモードであるTE10モードは基本モードと呼ばれ、より遮断波長の短いモード(高次モード)が現れるまで(すなわち、基本モードしか存在し得ない)波長範囲が、伝送ロスを小さくし易いなどの利用から利用価値が高いことが知られている。
ここで例えば、図11、図12に示すシミュレーションモデルを例に、各伝送モードの遮断波長を算出すると、図17に示す表に示す如き結果を得ることができる。すなわち、図11、図12に示すシミュレーションモデルにおける利用価値の高い波長帯域は、3.8~7.5mmの波長帯域(周波数に換算すれば40~80GHzの帯域)となる。
以上の説明から、
(a) 金属層(外導体)の内面に周期性凹凸等の周期構造を有する導波管は、この周期構造に起因する「反射帯」を有する
(b) 導波管は基本モードの遮断波長から高次モードの遮断波長の間において利用価値が高い
という2つの事実が導き出せる。

そして、この2つの事実を考え併せると、図18に示すように、周期構造に起因する反射帯域の中心波長λr(図18においては、主反射帯域の中心波長λmr)を、利用価値が高い波長帯域(図18に示す如き波長帯域W;基本モード(TE10)の遮断波長λcから高次モード(TE20)の遮断波長λchの間の波長帯域)に存在させないように設定することが望ましいことが導かれる。
すなわち本発明者は、この周期構造に起因する反射帯(主反射帯)の影響を避ける方法として、周期構造の周期長Lを小さくすることで、反射帯が形成される波長帯域(主反射帯域)中心波長λr(主反射帯域λmr))を高次モードの遮断波長λchより小さい領域に設定することが、前記反射帯が導波管伝送特性に与える影響を避けるために有効な手段であることを導き出した。
このように、特に、周期構造に起因する反射帯域の中でも、主反射帯は伝送特性に対する影響が大きく、特に避ける必要があるため、主反射帯の中心波長をλmr、高次モードの遮断波長λchとしたとき、次式

また、「周期性凹凸を形成する導波管における反射帯の影響を回避することの有効性」について、別の視点から考察する。
上述したように図11、図12に示すシミュレーションモデルは、導波管長手方向(伝搬方向)に対して、周期的な凹凸54Sにおける「内部誘電体51Sと外導体53Sとが直接接続している面」を“s”とし(図12においては“A”)、「内部誘電体51Sと外導体53Sとの間の隙間面」を“p” (図12においては“B”)としたとき、

ここで導波管50Sに、ミリ波(もしくはサブミリ波)を入力すると、上述したように、入力するミリ波の波長によっては、周期性を持った構造により導波管内で多重反射が発生し、これにより伝送特性が著しく悪化することとなる。

一方、上述したように、導波管50Sの伝送特性は、入力するミリ波の伝搬モードが「基本モード(TE10)」の伝送範囲で伝送することができれば最も伝送特性が良い(図18参照)。たとえば、伝搬モードが図18に示す波長帯域Wの範囲内にあれば基本モード(TE10)のみで伝送することになるため、伝送特性が良いといえる。
すなわち、上記式(6B)の条件を満たすような主反射帯の波長λmrが、

<第1の実施形態の可撓性導波管の具体的な構成>
本発明者は、上述したように周期性凹凸を形成する導波管のシミュレーションモデルでの検証結果に基づいて、当該周期性凹凸を形成する導波管において生じる「反射帯」が形成される波長帯域(中心波長λr)を高次モードの遮断波長λchより小さい領域に設定すること、特に、主反射帯域の中心波長をλmr、高次モードの遮断波長λchとしたとき、
λmr<λch
とすることが、当該周期性凹凸を形成する導波管においては有効性が高いことを見出した。
本発明者は、上述したように周期性凹凸を形成する導波管のシミュレーションモデルでの検証結果に基づいて、当該周期性凹凸を形成する導波管において生じる「反射帯」が形成される波長帯域(中心波長λr)を高次モードの遮断波長λchより小さい領域に設定すること、特に、主反射帯域の中心波長をλmr、高次モードの遮断波長λchとしたとき、
λmr<λch
とすることが、当該周期性凹凸を形成する導波管においては有効性が高いことを見出した。
以下、係る反射帯と高次モードの遮断波長との関係を実現する具体的な可撓性導波管の実施形態について説明する。
図19は、本発明の第1の実施の形態の可撓性導波管における蛇腹形状を呈する外導体および内部誘電体を示した要部断面図である。
改めて本第1の実施形態において可撓性導波管150は、上述した図3~図6等に示すように、長手方向に誘電率が均一、かつ、長手方向に断面が同一形状を呈する線状の内部誘電体151と、前記内部誘電体151の外周を覆う位置に配設された外導体153を有する。
本第1の実施形態において外導体153は、前記内部誘電体151の外周を覆う位置に配設された筒状であって、かつ、図19の断面図に示すように、長手方向に向かって周期的な形状変位部、すなわち、周期的な凹凸154を形成する、いわゆる蛇腹形状を呈する筒状部材により構成される。
また当該外導体153は、所定の金属層部を含み、当該金属層部の導電率は純銅相当の59×106S/mに設定される。なお、ここでは導電率を一意に定めたが、本発明において金属層部の導電率は、これに限定されず、実施形態においては、導電率の良い金属層を用いることが好ましい。
なお、本実施形態において蛇腹形状の外導体153は、内部誘電体151に接する側に金属層を配し外側に下地層を有するように構成されるが、ここでは当該下地層については省略して説明する。
<第1の実施形態のシミュレーションモデル>
次に、上述の如き蛇腹形状の外導体153を有する本第1の実施形態に係る可撓性導波管150について、シミュレーションモデルを用いてその伝送損失について説明する。

また、図22は、第1の実施の形態の可撓性導波管に係るシミュレーションモデルにおいて、周期性凹凸の周期長L=2.0の場合における伝送特性を示した図、図23は、第1の実施の形態の可撓性導波管に係るシミュレーションモデルにおいて、周期性凹凸の周期長L=0.98の場合における伝送特性を示した図、図24は、第1の実施の形態の可撓性導波管に係るシミュレーションモデルにおいて、周期性凹凸の周期長L=0.66の場合における伝送特性を示した図である。
本第1の実施形態の可撓性導波管150に係る伝送損失を求めるにあたり、図20、図21に示すように、長さ20mmの方形導波管のシミュレーションモデルを想定した。なお、図21は、図20における一部(符号155で示す)を拡大して示した図である。
このシミュレーションモデル(以下、第1の実施形態に係るシミュレーションモデルを第1シミュレーションモデルとする)は、上述したように長さ20mmの方形導波管であって内部には所定の誘電体を配置するものとする。
ここで当該第1シミュレーションモデルにおける内部誘電体は、材質をPFA(ペルフルオロアルコキシフッ素樹脂)、比誘電率εr=2.0、誘電正接(tanδ)=0.0003、断面の矩形形状における各辺は、長径a=2.66mm、短径b=1.33mmの方形断面を有するものとする。なお、当該断面形状の寸法については、60GHzのミリ波の伝送を想定し、50~75GHz(以下、この周波数帯域をVバンドと呼ぶ)において良好な伝送特性得られるように当該断面寸法を設定した。
また、使用したシミュレータはANSYS社のHFSSであり、解析誤差(ΔS)は0.01とした。
一方、第1シミュレーションモデルにおいて外導体153は、内部誘電体151の外側を覆うように配設されており、その内周面には長手方向に周期的な凹凸154が形成され、当該周期的な凹凸154における隙間(上述した凹部)には空気が充填されているものとする。また、その導電率は純銅相当の59×106S/mとした。
なお、前記周期的な凹凸154は、図21に示すように、導波管長手方向(伝搬方向)に対して、凸部(内部誘電体151と接する部分)を“A(またはs)”、凹部(内部誘電体151との間に隙間を生じる部分)を“B(またはp)”とし、最小周期長Lを、

いずれの図も、横軸は周波数を表しており、光速=波長×周波数の関係から、波長が長くなると周波数は小さくなり、波長は短くなると、周波数は大きくなる関係を有する。また、縦軸は伝送特性をdB単位で示しており、数値が0に近いほど伝送特性が良いことを表している。
ここで、上述したように周期長Lが、

ここで図22~図24に示すシミュレーション結果を見ると、周期長Lが、L=2.0mmのときは、図22に示すように、66GHz付近に主反射帯による伝送特性の悪化が見られる(ちなみに、110~114GHz付近には、高次反射帯による伝送特性の悪化が見られる)。
このように周期長Lが、L=2.0mmの場合、主反射帯が基本モードのみで伝送する周波数帯内に存在してしまうことになり、当該基本モードのみで伝送する周波数帯において伝送特性が著しく悪化していることが分かる。
一方、周期長Lが、L=0.98mmのときは、図23に示すように、114GHz付近に主反射帯による伝送特性の悪化が見られる。この伝送特性の悪化は、基本モードのみで伝送する周波数帯の最大値(79.8GHz)よりも十分大きい。また、式(12)を満たしており、基本モードのみで伝送する周波数帯において安定した伝送特性が得られていることがわかる。
さらに、周期長Lが、L=0.66mmのときは、図24に示すように、主反射帯による伝送特性の悪化が見られない。これは、シミュレーション範囲が40~150GHzであり、この範囲内では主反射帯が現れていないことを示唆するものである。なお、150GHzよりも高い周波数において主反射帯が存在するとみられる。
また、L=0.66mmの場合は、上述した式(12)を満たしており、基本モードのみで伝送する周波数帯において安定した伝送特性が得られていることがわかる。
以上説明したように、本第1の実施形態における可撓性導波管によると、外導体153において蛇腹形状を呈するといった周期的な凹凸が形成されている導波管であっても、その周期的な凹凸の周期長を適切に設定することで、主反射帯が所望の基本モードのみで伝送する波長帯域に存在してしまうことを回避することができ、所望のミリ波(サブミリ波を含む)以上の周波数の電波を伝送する導波管において適切な可撓性と優れた伝送特性とを両立する導波管を提供することができる。
<第2の実施形態の可撓性導波管>
次に、本発明の第2の実施形態について説明する。

本第2の実施形態に係る内視鏡システムは、その構成は基本的には第1の実施形態と同様であるので、ここでは第1の実施形態との差異のみの説明にとどめ、その他の詳細の説明は省略する。
すなわち、本第2の実施形態に係る内視鏡システムは、第1の実施形態に対して、可撓性導波管における内部誘電体については同様であるが、可撓性導波管における外導体の構成を異にするものであって、その構成は基本的には第1の実施形態と同様である。
また、第2の実施形態に係る可撓性導波管は、現実的には図25または図26等に示す、可撓性に配慮した形状を呈する外導体を配した可撓性導波管を想定したものである。
そして、これら第2の実施形態に係る可撓性導波管については、当該現実的な可撓性導波管に係る伝送損失等の電磁気的な物性、または、可撓性等の機械的な物性をより的確に把握するために、ミリ波(サブミリ波を含む)の電波を伝搬することを考慮した上で、当該現実的な可撓性導波管における材質、形状等について近似したモデルを設定し、当該第2の実施形態に係る可撓性導波管とした。
以下、第2の実施形態に係る可撓性導波管について説明するが、その材質、形状および伝送損失等の特性は、想定した現実の可撓性導波管に準じたものであると附言する。
図25は、本発明の第2の実施の形態の可撓性導波管における螺旋形状を呈する外導体および内部誘電体を示した要部断面図であり、図26は、第2の実施の形態の可撓性導波管における螺旋形状を呈する外導体の外観を示した外観図である。また、図27は、第2の実施の形態の可撓性導波管における螺旋形状を呈する外導体および内部誘電体並びに周期性凹凸の位置関係を示した説明図であり、図28は、第2の実施の形態の可撓性導波管における螺旋形状を呈する外導体および内部誘電体並びに周期性凹凸の位置関係を示し、図27のA-A’断面を示した要部断面図である。
本第2の実施形態においても、第1の実施形態と同様に、前記ドライバIC23の基端側には、ドライバIC23のパッケージに一体化された前記送受信アンテナ27を挟んで、ミリ波またはサブミリ波を通す当該第2の実施形態に係る可撓性導波管250の先端部が接続されている。
この可撓性導波路250は、第1の実施形態と同様に可撓性を有し、先端硬性部10に配設された前記ドライバIC23にその先端側が接続された後、挿入部6の基端側に向けて延出されるようになっている。
さらに可撓性導波管250は、第1の実施形態と同様に、挿入部6においてドライバIC23よりさらなる基端側、すなわち、先端硬性部10における前記ドライバIC23の配設箇所より基端側部をはじめ、より基端側の前記湾曲部9および可撓管部を含めた挿入部6の内部を挿通した後、操作部7内部およびユニバーサルコード8の内部を挿通し、ビデオプロセッサ3に至る位置に配設されるようになっている。
また、第2の実施形態に係る可撓性導波管250も、第1の実施形態と同様に、撮像ユニット20とビデオプロセッサ3における前記画像処理部(画像処理回路31)とを結ぶ信号伝送路であって、少なくとも一部がミリ波またはサブミリ波を伝搬する導波路である。
<可撓性導波管における内部誘電体および外導体>
図25に示すように、本第2の実施形態においても、可撓性導波管250は、長手方向に誘電率が均一、かつ、長手方向に断面が同一形状を呈する線状の内部の内部誘電体251と、前記内部誘電体251の外周を覆う位置に配設された外導体253を有する。

なお、本第2の実施形態においても、「誘電率が均一」とは、導波管内部を伝搬する電波(ミリ波またはサブミリ波)の波長オーダーの寸法でみたときに均一であることを意味するものである。
すなわち、波長オーダーよりも1~2桁以上寸法の異なる構造による誘電率分布は、導波管内部を伝搬する電波には影響を与えないため、本第2の実施形態においても、これを含めて誘電率が均一と表現している。
<第2の実施形態における内部誘電体の比誘電率および形状>
前記内部誘電体251の比誘電率は、比誘電率εr1=4.5に設定され、一方、内部誘電体251は、長径と短径との比率が長手方向において一定となる断面形状であって略楕円形状を呈し、それぞれ、

一方で、本第2の実施形態における外導体253は、延伸方向に垂直な断面が長方形断面を呈する、金属層(金属物質)を包含する1本の帯状部を有する、例えばテープにより構成される。

なお、当該外導体253は、所定の金属層部を含み、当該金属層部の導電率は純銅相当の59×106S/mに設定される。なお、ここでは導電率を一意に定めたが、本発明において金属層部の導電率は、これに限定されず、実施形態においては、導電率の良い金属層を用いることが好ましい。
なお、本実施形態において外導体253である前記テープは、内部誘電体251に接する側に金属層を配し外側に下地層を有するように構成されるが、ここでは当該下地層については省略して説明する。
ここで、本実施形態においては、上述したように外導体253であるテープを内部誘電体251の外周に螺旋状に巻き付けるが、このとき、隣接する当該テープ同士を当該導波管250の長手方向に対して一定の間隔を保持するようにラップして巻き付ける。このため、図27、図28に示すように、内部誘電体251と外導体253の金属層との間に隙間(符号254で示す周期的な凹凸)が生じることとなる。
この隙間254は、伝搬方向(長手方向)に対して周期性を持って生じることとなり、すなわち、長手方向に周期的な凹凸(周期構造)254を形成する。
また、本実施形態においてこの周期構造である周期的な凹凸254は、テープの幅をs、前記一定の間隔(本実施形態においてはラップされる部分)をp、導波管250の長手方向に直交する角度を0度とした際における当該導波管長手方向に対する所定角度をθ(図27参照)とすると、周期長Lは、

以上説明したように、本第2の実施形態における可撓性導波管においても、外導体253の如き内部誘電体251に螺旋状に巻かれた帯状のテープにより周期的な凹凸254が形成されている導波管であっても、その周期的な凹凸の周期長を適切に設定することで、主反射帯が所望の基本モードのみで伝送する波長帯域に存在してしまうことを回避することができ、所望のミリ波(サブミリ波を含む)以上の周波数の電波を伝送する導波管において適切な可撓性と優れた伝送特性とを両立する導波管を提供することができる。

上述したように、第2の実施形態の可撓性導波管250は、内部誘電体251の外周に1本の帯状部(テープ)を巻きつけるものであったが、当該変形例の可撓性導波管350は、図29、図30に示すように、内部誘電体351の外周に外導体としての複数本の帯状のテープ(外導体353a、353b)を巻きつけて構成されることを特徴とする。その他の構成は第2の実施形態と同様であるので、ここでの詳しい説明は省略する。
図29、図30に示すように、本第2の実施形態の第1変形例においても、可撓性導波管350における内部誘電体351は、長手方向に誘電率が均一、かつ、長手方向に断面が同一形状を呈する線状の誘電体である。
一方で、本第2の実施形態に係る第1変形例における外導体353a、353bは、上述したように、延伸方向に垂直な断面が長方形断面を呈する、金属層(金属物質)を包含する複数の帯状部を有する、例えばテープ(以降、テープ353a、353bとも記す)により構成され、図29、図30においては、2本の場合を示す。
そして、当該変形例においても帯状部であるテープ353a、353bは、いずれも当該テープの側縁部が可撓性導波管350の長手方向に対して所定角度を成した状態において当該テープの平坦部が内部誘電体351の外周面に対して交互に螺旋状に巻きつけられるように延在する。
この螺旋状に巻き付けられる際、これら隣接する当該テープ353aとテープ353bとは互いに対向する側縁部同士が当該導波管350の長手方向に対して一定の間隔を保持するように配設されるようなっている(図29、図30参照)。
また、本変形例においては、この一定の間隔を保持して配設された外導体であるテープ353a、353bを上述したように、内部誘電体351の外周に対して交互に螺旋状に巻き付けるが、このとき、テープ353aは内部誘電体351に直接的に接するように巻きつけ、テープ353bは隣接するテープ353a間の上面に懸架するよう巻きつける。
これにより、図30に示すように、内部誘電体351の外周面上に配設された隣接するテープ353a間とテープ353bの底面とで覆われる空間に周期的な隙間(符号354で示す周期的な凹凸)が生じることとなる。
この隙間354は、伝搬方向(長手方向)に対して周期性を持って生じることとなり、すなわち、長手方向に周期的な凹凸(周期構造)354を形成する。
また、本変形例においてこの周期構造である周期的な凹凸354は、テープの幅をs、前記一定の間隔をp、導波管350の長手方向に直交する角度を0度とした際における当該導波管長手方向に対する所定角度をθ(図29参照)とすると、周期長Lは、

本第3の実施形態に係る内視鏡システムは、その構成は基本的には第1の実施形態と同様であるので、ここでは第1の実施形態との差異のみの説明にとどめ、その他の詳細の説明は省略する。
すなわち、本第3の実施形態に係る内視鏡システムは、第1の実施形態に対して、可撓性導波管における内部誘電体については同様であるが、可撓性導波管における外導体の構成を異にするものであって、その構成は基本的には第1の実施形態と同様である。
<低次反射帯について>
ここで、第3の実施形態の説明に先立って、上述した低次反射帯について説明する。

上述した図10に示す「多層反射膜」に関する多重反射の説明においては、屈折率の異なる誘電体膜が2層周期で重なった場合を示している。
この場合には主反射帯よりも波長が長い帯域には「反射帯」が生じない。これは多層反射膜では良く知られた事象である。しかしながら、これに2層よりも長周期の乱れが加わると反射帯の発生はもっと複雑になり、上記反射波長(λ/4)に加えて、波長が長い側にも反射が起きうることが分かっている。係る点については、日本国特開2011-242437号公報において明示されている。
すなわち多層反射膜においては、2層周期にある種の乱れ(2層よりも長周期の乱れ)が加わる場合には、主反射帯よりも長い波長帯にも反射帯が形成され得る。
ここから本発明者は、本発明の可撓性導波管に係る周期構造においても、2層周期に対してある種の乱れ(2層よりも長周期の乱れ)が生じた場合には「主反射帯」よりも長い波長帯(低次反射帯)において反射が生じうることを類推した。
特に本実施例にあるような外導体は、多層反射膜が層を明確に分けるように明確な構造を持たない場合が想定されることから、長周期の乱れを得やすいと推測できる。
すなわち本発明者は、「主反射帯」よりも長い波長をもつ帯域に「低次反射帯」が形成されやすくなる場合を考慮し、本実施の形態にあるような、これら反射帯による影響が発生し易い場合について本発明を更に発展させた。
以降、図32~図36を用いて、このことをより詳細に説明する。
図32は、本発明に関し周期性凹凸を形成する導波管において、主反射帯に対して低次反射帯が生じる原理を説明するための説明図であって、屈折率の異なる誘電体膜が2層/周期で重なる多層反射膜に所定の入射光が入射した際の反射帯の様子を示した図であり、図33~図36は、同説明図であって、それぞれ屈折率の異なる誘電体膜が3層~6層/周期で重なる多層反射膜に所定の入射光が入射した際の反射帯の様子を示した図である。
ここで図32には「(1.2H 0.8L)60)なる表記があるが、これは図の特性を持つ多層反射膜の構成を示すものである。この表記の意味は、図33~図36についても同様であり、それぞれ多層反射膜の構成を示している。
ここで、括弧内の数値は薄膜層の厚さを示し、膜厚表記の基準波長λs(図32~図36の例ではλs=1000nm)と置いて、λs/4を1.0として記載する膜厚表現である。また括弧内のH、Lは、薄膜の特性を示す記号(Hが高屈折率層、Lが低屈折率層)であり、括弧外の数値は、括弧内にある膜構成をその回数だけ繰り返し積層していることを示している。
図32~図36に示す多層反射膜の構成において、前述した薄膜の積層周期をL1(式(1)参照、導波管における周期性凹凸の周期長Lに相当)を計算すると、例えば図32の薄膜の積層周期式は、

一方、図33~図36に示すような長周期の乱れを含む例では、主反射帯とは別の波長帯域に反射帯(低次反射帯)が存在するようになる。
例えば、図36の例では、2層よりも長周期の乱れとして6層の繰り返し積層「(2.0H 0.8L 0.8H 0.8L 0.8H 0.8L)20」が存在し、これによりL1=λs/2における主反射帯(λ=1000nm)よりも長い波長(λ=1500nmおよびλ=3000nm)で低次反射帯が生じている。
この振る舞いは、図33、図34の例においても同一であり、同じく主反射帯よりも長い波長の帯域に反射帯(低次反射帯)が生じている。すなわち、本発明者は、図33~36にあるような振る舞いから、導波管においても多層反射膜と同様に、低次反射帯が発生しうることを類推した。
以上説明したように、本発明の如き可撓性導波管において、導波管内部に形成される「周期的な構造」は複雑な形態を取り得ることを考慮し、本発明者は、本発明の可撓性導波管では、主反射帯とは別の、特により長い波長帯域に複数の別の反射帯(低次反射帯)が生じ得ることを見出し、これら低次反射帯の影響も避けることができる可撓性導波管の形態について発明を発展させた。
なお、前記低次反射帯は、これまで本発明者が行った検討の範囲において、主反射帯の生じる波長域に対して3倍波長となる範囲に発生する低次反射帯が比較的発生し易く、5倍波長となる範囲に発生する低次反射帯までは弱いながらも発生することがあり、導波管の伝送特性に影響を与え易いことが判っている。すなわち、これを避けることが可撓性導波管の特性を安定させるために必要であることを、鋭意研究の結果、見出している。
ここで得た結果を定式化し、前述した関係式(11)の導出過程に当てはめると、導波管内に周期的な凹凸が存在しても、良好な伝送特性を得ることができる周期長Lを求めることができる。
すなわち、ここで得た結果を定式化すると、以下のように表現できる。
たとえば5倍波長に発生する低次反射帯の中心波長をλlrとして、「これが伝送帯域(図18における波長帯域Wの範囲内)に入ることを避ける)ことは、前述の式(10)に倣い、次式(10A)にて表現できる。

となるような周期長Lであれば、導波管内部に形成される「周期的な構造」が、単純な凹凸の周期長Lで表現できない、より長周期の構造を含む複雑な形態を持っても、低次反射帯の影響を受ける可能性は極めて低く、良好な伝送特性が得られることとなる。
なお、上記では主反射帯の生じる5倍波長まで避けることが望ましいとして式を展開したが、比較的発生し易い低次反射帯は主反射帯の生じる波長域に対して3倍波長となる範囲までであることから主反射帯の3倍波長まで避けるようにした場合にも伝送特性の良化に一定の効果が認められる。

<第3の実施形態の具体的な説明>
上述した「低次反射帯」の存在に鑑みつつ、以下、第3の実施形態に係る可撓性導波管について、具体的に説明する。

第3の実施形態に係る可撓性導波管は、第2の実施形態と同様に、現実的には図37または図38等に示す、可撓性に配慮した形状を呈する外導体を配した可撓性導波管を想定したものである。
そして、第3の実施形態に係る可撓性導波管については、当該現実的な可撓性導波管に係る伝送損失等の電磁気的な物性、または、可撓性等の機械的な物性をより的確に把握するために、ミリ波(サブミリ波を含む)の電波を伝搬することを考慮した上で、当該現実的な可撓性導波管における材質、形状等について近似したシミュレーションモデルを設定し、当該第3の実施形態に係る可撓性導波管とした。
以下、第3の実施形態に係る可撓性導波管について説明するが、その材質、形状および伝送損失等の特性は、想定した現実の可撓性導波管に準じたものであると附言する。
図37は、本発明の第3の実施の形態の可撓性導波管における平箔糸を組紐形状に編んで成る外導体および内部誘電体を示した要部断面図であり、図38は、第3の実施の形態の可撓性導波管における平箔糸を組紐形状に編んで成る外導体の外観を示した外観図である。また、図39は、第3の実施の形態の可撓性導波管における平箔糸を組紐形状に編んで成る外導体の構成を示した要部拡大断面図である。
また、図40は、第3の実施の形態の可撓性導波管に係るシミュレーションモデルにおいて、組紐形状を呈する外導体を構成する平箔糸、製紐孔および内部誘電体を示した要部斜視図、図41は、同シミュレーションモデルにおいて、外導体を構成する平箔糸および周期性を有する製紐孔の位置関係を示した説明図、図42は、同シミュレーションモデルにおいて、外導体を導波管の全周方向に展開した展開図、図43は、同シミュレーションモデルにおいて、外導体を構成する平箔糸および周期性を有する製紐孔に関し、図42のA-A’における面を示した要部拡大図、図44は、第3の実施の形態の可撓性導波管に係るシミュレーションモデルにおいて製紐孔の周期Lと遮断波長との関係を示した図である。
本第3の実施形態においても、第1の実施形態と同様に、前記ドライバIC23の基端側には、ドライバIC23のパッケージに一体化された前記送受信アンテナ27を挟んで、ミリ波またはサブミリ波を通す当該第3の実施形態に係る可撓性導波管550の先端部が接続されている。
この可撓性導波路550は、第1の実施形態と同様に可撓性を有し、先端硬性部10に配設された前記ドライバIC23にその先端側が接続された後、挿入部6の基端側に向けて延出されるようになっている。
さらに可撓性導波管550は、第1の実施形態と同様に、挿入部6においてドライバIC23よりさらなる基端側、すなわち、先端硬性部10における前記ドライバIC23の配設箇所より基端側部をはじめ、より基端側の前記湾曲部9および可撓管部を含めた挿入部6の内部を挿通した後、操作部7内部およびユニバーサルコード8の内部を挿通し、ビデオプロセッサ3に至る位置に配設されるようになっている。
また、第3の実施形態に係る可撓性導波管550も、第1の実施形態と同様に、撮像ユニット20とビデオプロセッサ3における前記画像処理部(画像処理回路31)とを結ぶ信号伝送路であって、少なくとも一部がミリ波またはサブミリ波を伝搬する導波路である。
<第3の実施形態に係る可撓性導波管における内部誘電体および外導体>
図37に示すように、本第3の実施形態においても、可撓性導波管550は、長手方向に誘電率が均一、かつ、長手方向に断面が同一形状を呈する線状の内部の内部誘電体551と、前記内部誘電体551の外周を覆う位置に配設された外導体553を有する。

なお、本第3の実施形態においても、「誘電率が均一」とは、導波管内部を伝搬する電波(ミリ波またはサブミリ波)の波長オーダーの寸法でみたときに均一であることを意味するものである。
すなわち、波長オーダーよりも1~2桁以上寸法の異なる構造による誘電率分布は、導波管内部を伝搬する電波には影響を与えないため、本第3の実施形態においても、これを含めて誘電率が均一と表現している。
<第3の実施形態における内部誘電体の比誘電率および形状>
第3の実施形態の(シミュレーションモデルである)可撓性導波管550において前記内部誘電体551の比誘電率は、比誘電率εr=2.0に設定され、一方、内部誘電体551は、長径と短径との比率が長手方向において一定となる断面形状を呈し、それぞれ、

図39は、第3の実施の形態の可撓性導波管における平箔糸を組紐形状に編んで成る外導体の構成を示した要部拡大断面図である。図39に示すように、第3の実施形態において帯状部である前記平箔糸は、延伸方向に垂直な断面が長方形断面を呈し、樹脂などの非金属物質を包含する下地層555と、金属物質を包含する金属層556を有して構成される。
また、当該複数の平箔糸は、いずれの平箔糸についても側縁部が当該導波管長手方向に対して所定角度を成した状態において、その平坦部が内部誘電体551の外周面に内部誘電体551に接する側に前記金属層556を配置して巻きつけられるように延在すると共に、互いの平箔糸が組紐状形態を形成するように編成されるようになっている(図37、図38参照)。
本第3の実施形態における周期構造は、当該導波管の基本モードの遮断波長をλc、内部誘電体551の比誘電率をεrとし、かつ、当該導波管断面の全周寸法をL1z、前記組紐状形態を形成するために使用した帯状部の本数をM本としたとき、

なお、当該外導体553は、上述したように所定の金属層部(金属層556)を含み、当該金属層部の導電率は純銅相当の59×106S/mに設定される。なお、ここでは導電率を一意に定めたが、本発明において金属層部の導電率は、これに限定されず、実施形態においては、導電率の良い金属層を用いることが好ましい。
なお、上述したように本第3の実施形態において外導体553である前記平箔糸は、内部誘電体551に接する側に金属層556を配し外側に下地層555を有するように構成したが、これに限ることなく、金属層のみにより構成されてもよい。
ここで、本第3の実施形態においては、上述したように外導体553である複数の平箔糸を、内部誘電体551の外周に対して巻きつけ角度45度にて巻き付けて組紐状に編み込むと、糸と糸の間に、いわゆる「製紐孔」と称される孔が生じる。なお、図40、図41においては、この製紐孔を符号554で示すものとする。
この製紐孔554は、“孔”の部分においては下方側の内部誘電体551の表面が露出することになる。
また、図41に示すように、組紐状に編まれた平箔糸に係る当該製紐孔554を導波管の側方から見たとき、導波管の長手方向(伝搬方向)に垂直な領域について微小区間でみると、“孔”の部分(すなわち内部誘電体551が露出している部分)と、平箔糸自体の金属部分との割合がほぼ同じ領域(図41における符号Xで示されるライン)と、全て金属部分である領域(図41における符号Yで示されるライン)とが存在する。
このように、本第3の実施形態の可撓性導波管550は、導波管の長手方向(伝搬方向)に向かって金属部分の割合が周期的に変化するように外導体553が形成される。換言すれば、第3の実施形態の可撓性導波管550は、外導体553について長手方向に周期的な形状変化が生じていると共に、外導体の抵抗(インピーダンス)分布が伝搬方向に対して所定の周期性をもって変化することとなる。
一方、本第3の実施形態においても、内部誘電体551と外導体553の金属層との間に周期的な凹凸554が生じているともいえる。

<第3の実施形態の可撓性導波管の伝送特性(シミュレーションモデル)>
次に、第3の実施形態の可撓性導波管の伝送特性について、「主反射帯」のみならず、上述した「低次反射帯」を考慮した場合について、製紐本数Mをパラメータとしたシミュレーションモデルを用いて検証する。

図45は、第3の実施の形態の可撓性導波管に係るシミュレーションモデルを示した外観斜視図であり、図46は、第3の実施の形態の可撓性導波管に係るシミュレーションモデルにおいて設定された製紐本数、糸幅および製紐孔の径の関係を示した表図である。また、図47は、第3の実施の形態の可撓性導波管に係るシミュレーションモデルにおいて、製紐本数=8本の場合における低次反射帯に係る伝送特性を示した図であり、図48は、同シミュレーションモデルにおいて、製紐本数=16本の場合、図49は、同シミュレーションモデルにおいて、製紐本数=32本の場合における低次反射帯に係る伝送特性をそれぞれ示した図である。
本第3の実施形態の可撓性導波管550に係る伝送損失を求めるにあたり、図45に示すように、長さ20mmの方形導波管のシミュレーションモデルを想定した。
このシミュレーションモデル(以下、第3の実施形態に係るシミュレーションモデルを第3シミュレーションモデルとする)は、上述したように長さ20mmの方形導波管であって内部には所定の誘電体を配置するものとする。
ここで当該第3シミュレーションモデルにおける内部誘電体は、上述した第1シミュレーションモデルと同様に、材質をPFA(ペルフルオロアルコキシフッ素樹脂)、比誘電率εr=2.0、誘電正接(tanδ)=0.0003、断面の矩形形状における各辺は、長径a=2.66mm、短径b=1.33mmの方形断面を有するものとする。
なお、当該断面形状の寸法については、60GHzのミリ波の伝送を想定し、50~75GHz(Vバンド)において良好な伝送特性を得られるように設定した。また、使用したシミュレータはANSYS社のHFSSであり、解析誤差(ΔS)は0.01とした。
また、第3シミュレーションモデルにおいて外導体553は、内部誘電体551の外側を覆うように配設されており、その内周面には長手方向に上記製紐孔に相当する周期的な凹凸554が形成されるものとし、当該周期的な凹凸554における隙間(上述した製紐孔に相当する凹部)には空気が充填されているものとする。また、その導電率は純銅相当の59×106S/mとした。
また、第3シミュレーションモデルにおいては、製紐本数(M)をパラメータとし、図46に示すように、製紐本数(M)=8本、16本、32本のときの伝送特性をシミュレーションした。
なお、当該第3シミュレーションモデルにおいて、製紐本数(M)が上述した8本、16本、32本のとき、糸幅(s)、製紐孔の径(p)はそれぞれ図46の表に示す値に設定するものとする。
ここで、製紐本数(M)、糸幅(s)、製紐孔の径(p)はそれぞれ上述の如き、製紐の打ち数(M)、平箔糸の幅(s)、製紐孔の1辺の長さ(p)に対応し、糸幅と製紐孔の径の比率は、ほぼ50%に近づけるものとし、当該製紐孔に係る伝搬方向への周期長Lは、

図47は、第3の実施の形態の可撓性導波管に係るシミュレーションモデルにおいて、製紐本数=8本の場合における低次反射帯に係る伝送特性を示した図であり、図48は、同シミュレーションモデルにおいて、製紐本数=16本の場合、図49は、同シミュレーションモデルにおいて、製紐本数=32本の場合における低次反射帯に係る伝送特性をそれぞれ示した図である。
上述した伝送特性を示した図は、いずれも横軸は周波数を表しており、光速=波長×周波数の関係から、波長が長くなると周波数は小さくなり、波長は短くなると、周波数は大きくなる関係が有ることがわかる。また、縦軸は伝送特性をdB単位で示しており、数値が0に近いほど、伝送特性が良いことを表している。
ここで、当該第3シミュレーションモデルの基本モードの遮断波長λcは、導波管寸法、及び内部誘電体の比誘電率から、
λc=7.518mm
である。これを、周波数単位で表すと、

第3シミュレーションモデルでは、いずれの場合も

を満たしており、基本モードのみで伝送する周波数帯に主反射帯が存在することはない。

しかしながら、図47~図49に示すシミュレーション結果を見ると、基本モードのみで伝送する周波数帯に主反射帯が存在することが無いはずの製紐本数M=8本の場合であっても、図47に示すように、66GHz付近に反射帯による伝送特性の悪化が見られる。これは、前述した「低次反射帯」の影響によるものと類推できる。
さらに、図47に示すように、製紐本数M=8本の場合、高周波側にも低次反射帯による伝送特性の悪化が複数見られる。
このように製紐本数M=8本の場合、低次反射帯が基本モードのみで伝送する周波数帯内に存在してしまうことになり、当該基本モードのみで伝送する周波数帯において伝送特性が悪化していることが分かる。
一方、製紐本数M=16本の場合は、図48に示すように、142GHz付近に低次反射帯による伝送特性の悪化が見られる。この142GHz付近における伝送特性の悪化は、前述した低次反射帯によるものであり、基本モードのみで伝送する周波数帯の最大値(79.8GHz)よりも十分大きい。
さらに製紐本数M=16本の場合、上述した式(32)を満たしており、基本モードのみで伝送する周波数帯において安定した伝送特性が得られていることがわかる。
さらに、製紐本数M=32本の場合は、図49に示すように、150GHzまでの範囲であれば、反射帯による伝送特性の悪化が見られない。これは、シミュレーション範囲が40~150GHzであり、この範囲内では主反射帯のほか低次反射帯ですら現れていないことを示唆するものである。なお、150GHzよりも高い周波数においては反射帯が存在する可能性はある。
また製紐本数M=32本の場合、上述した式(32)を満たしており、基本モードのみで伝送する周波数帯において安定した伝送特性が得られていることがわかる。
以上のシミュレーションの結果からは、製紐本数Mが8本と16本の間に伝送特性が安定する境界があることが推論される。これは、主反射帯のみを考慮した場合のみを考慮した製紐本数の条件、すなわち、式(32)よりも製紐本数が多い。このことは、前述の第3のシミュレーションモデルが、「主反射帯の生じる波長域に対して、より長周期の構造を含む形態」と持っており、主反射帯だけではなく、これによって生じる低次反射帯の影響も避けていると判断できる。
<第3の実施形態の可撓性導波管に係る伝送特性の実測>
図50は、第3の実施の形態の可撓性導波管に係る伝送特性の測定システムを示したブロック図であり、図51は、第3の実施の形態の可撓性導波管において、製紐本数=16本および32本の場合における50~75GHz帯の伝送特性の測定結果を示した図である。また、図52は、第3の実施の形態の可撓性導波管において、製紐本数=32本の場合における75~110GHz帯の伝送特性の測定結果を示した図である。
図50は、第3の実施の形態の可撓性導波管に係る伝送特性の測定システムを示したブロック図であり、図51は、第3の実施の形態の可撓性導波管において、製紐本数=16本および32本の場合における50~75GHz帯の伝送特性の測定結果を示した図である。また、図52は、第3の実施の形態の可撓性導波管において、製紐本数=32本の場合における75~110GHz帯の伝送特性の測定結果を示した図である。
なお、本第3の実施形態の可撓性導波管においては、前述した「製紐孔」と称される孔に加えて、図43にあるように平箔糸が交差して編まれることによる複雑な凹凸、編み込み機械の特性やばらつきに起因して長周期に生じる編み目の不均一さなどが生じ得る。すなわち、本第3の実施形態の可撓性導波管の外導体は、前述した「より長周期の構造を含む複雑な形態」を持つ。
ここで、本発明者は、上述した第3シミュレーションで示した内部誘電体、および外導体仕様をもとに実測による検証を行なった。
図50は、第3の実施の形態の可撓性導波管に係る伝送特性の測定システムを示したブロック図であり、測定器として、いわゆるベクトルネットワークアナライザ601を使用し、先端に、Vバンド(50~75GHz)の測定に対応した同軸導波管変換器602を両端に接続するものとする。
図51は、第3の実施の形態の可撓性導波管において、製紐本数=16本および32本の場合における伝送特性の測定結果を示した図である。
図51において、横軸は周波数を表しており、光速=波長×周波数の関係から、波長が長くなると周波数は小さくなり、波長は短くなると、周波数は大きくなる関係が有る。また、縦軸は伝送特性をdB単位で示しており、数値が0に近いほど、伝送特性が良いことを表している。
この図51に示すように、測定結果を見ると、製紐本数=16本の場合は 、60~65GHz、および、70~75GHz付近に伝送特性の悪化が見られ、伝送特性が悪化していることがわかる。これは、反射帯による伝送特性の悪化と考えられる。
一方、製紐本数=32本の場合は、伝送特性の大きな悪化は見られず、60GHz近傍以上において良好な伝送特性が得られている。
さらに、本発明者は、Vバンドよりさらに高周波側の周波数帯域である、Wバンド(75~110GHz、以下、この周波数帯域をWバンドと呼ぶ)において、実測による検証を行なった。
測定は、図50に示す測定システムにおいて、同軸導波管変換器602をWバンドの測定に対応したものに置き換えて実施した。
図52は、製紐本数=32本の場合における75~110GHz帯の伝送特性の測定結果を拡大して示した図である。この図52に示すように、Vバンドのほか、さらに高周波側の帯域であるWバンドの範囲においても良好な伝送特性が得られていることがわかる。
なお、図51、図52に示すように、いずれも50~55GHzにおいて伝送特性が悪化しているが、これは、可撓性導波管の設計と組立精度の影響によるものであり、遮断周波数が設計値(39.8GHz)から高周波側へシフトしためである。
したがって、上記の実測結果から、製紐本数が16本と32本の間に伝送特性が安定する境界があることが推論される。この境界値は、前述した「主反射帯の生じる波長域に対して5倍波長となる範囲に発生する低次反射帯が比較的発生し易く、導波管の伝送特性に影響を与え易いこと」を考慮すると、主反射帯の影響のみを考慮した関係式

なお、低次反射帯の影響を避けるには、主反射帯の影響のみを考慮した関係式に対して5倍以上の製紐本数とすることが望ましいが、製紐本数が大きくなればなるほど外導体形成に用いる糸(ここでは平箔糸)は細いものとなり、製造は困難となっていく。このため実際の外導体製作においては、製紐本数が30を超える範囲でできるだけ少ない製紐本数を選択することが望ましいともいえる。
また、ミリ波帯の中でも周波数帯が大きくなると、導波管そのものが細くなり、この影響で外導体形成に用いる糸(平箔糸)はやはり細いものと成る。すなわち製紐本数を30本以上とすることが困難となる場合が考えられ、この場合には主反射帯のみ考慮した関係式に対して3倍以上の製紐本数である18本以上を選択すれば伝送特性の良化に一定の効果が期待でき、製造性とのバランスを取る事ができる。
以上説明したように、本第3の実施形態における可撓性導波管によると、組紐形状を呈する外導体553のように、複雑な反射帯域を生じ得る製紐孔の如き周期的な凹凸が形成されている導波管であっても、その周期的な凹凸の周期長を適切に設定することで、主反射帯および低次反射帯が所望の基本モードのみで伝送する波長帯域に存在してしまうことを回避することができ、所望のミリ波(サブミリ波を含む)以上の周波数の電波を伝送する導波管において適切な可撓性と優れた伝送特性とを両立する導波管を提供することができる。
<第4の実施形態>
次に、本発明の第4の実施形態について説明する。

上述した第1~第3の実施形態は、上述の如き可撓性導波管を内視鏡に適用したが、本第4の実施形態は、上述の如き可撓性導波管を所定の画像信号を伝送する画像伝送装置に適用するものである。
この第4の実施形態に係る画像伝送装置は、第1~第3の実施形態に示されるような内視鏡システムに限らず、いわゆるFHD(Full High Definition)を超える4K/8K画像に代表される高精細/大容量の画像信号を伝送可能とする伝送装置であって、換言すれば、基本周波数が10GHzを超えるような高速信号の伝送線路を有する伝送装置である。
さらに、本第4の実施形態に係る当該伝送路は、数センチメートル~5メートル程度以下の長さで5Gbps以上の通信速度を実現しうるミリ波(サブミリ波を含む)領域で用いることを想定するものあって、かつ、可撓性を要するものである。
上記の第1の実施形態として説明した誘電体材料を含む可撓性導波管は、斯様な条件を要する第4の実施形態の如き画像伝送装置にあっても適切に適用することができる。
本発明は、上述した実施形態に限定されるものではなく、本発明の要旨を変えない範囲において、種々の変更、改変等が可能である。
本出願は、2017年5月2日に日本国に出願された特願2017-91971号を優先権主張の基礎として出願するものであり、上記の開示内容は、本願明細書、請求の範囲に引用されるものとする。
Claims (12)
- 長手方向に誘電率が均一、かつ、長手方向に断面が同一形状を呈する線状の誘電体と、
前記誘電体の外周を覆う位置に配設され、可撓性を有する筒状により形成された外導体と、
を有し、60GHz近傍以上のミリ波またはサブミリ波以上の周波数帯域の電波を伝導する導波管であって、
前記外導体は金属層部を有し、
前記金属層部は前記誘電体に対向する内周側部の形状が当該導波管長手方向に向けて周期的な形状変位部を形成する周期構造を有し、
前記周期構造は、当該周期構造に起因する主反射帯域の中心波長をλmr、前記導波管の高次モードの遮断波長をλchとしたとき、

を満たす構造であることを特徴とする導波管。 - 前記周期構造はさらに、当該導波管の基本モードの遮断波長をλc、前記誘電体の比誘電率をεrとしたとき、当該周期構造における前記形状変位部の前記導波管長手方向における周期Lが、
