Definitions
- the present invention relates to a watch component in or on which can be crimped at least one gemstone or not.
- the present invention particularly relates to a needle.
- the hands of a timepiece are generally thin and fragile elements.
- a luminescent paint to cover or fill a hollow of the needle or to crimp in the needle a gemstone or not.
- the traditional crimping of a stone on a component as fragile as a needle has a significant risk of deformation of said needle, regardless of the shape of the stone (faceted or flat as described in CH 3457).
- EP 0 574 360 discloses a needle comprising at least one housing for receiving a gemstone or not and clamping means having the shape of two strips extending on each side of the housing along the longitudinal axis of the needle and intended to hold the stone in said housing. These strips must be deformable for crimping the stone or stones in their housing. As with traditional crimping, the deformation of these bands to ensure proper fixation of the stone can cause deformation of the needle.
- said clamping bands are in a distinct plane and not parallel to the plane of the needle which increases the height and the volume of said needle and reduces the overall aesthetics of the needle.
- the object of the present invention is to provide a watchmaking component, in particular a needle, in or on which can be set a gemstone or not, which allows an easy and safe crimping of said stone and which is aesthetic while limiting the deformations of the component when crimping.
- the subject of the present invention is a watch component according to claim 1, a timepiece comprising said watch component as well as a method of crimping a gemstone or not in or on said watch component.
- Figures 1 and 2 illustrate a minute hand according to the invention view in perspective from above, respectively from below.
- Figure 3 is a top view of the needle of Figure 1 before crimping stones.
- FIG. 4 is a view from below of the needle of FIG. 1 before crimping stones
- Figure 5 illustrates in detail the tip of the needle of Figure 4.
- Figure 6 is a sectional view along the axis A-A of the needle of Figure 3.
- Figure 7 is a top view of the needle of Figure 1 once the stones crimped into their housing.
- Figure 8 is a bottom view of the needle of Figure 1, once the stones crimped into their housing.
- Figure 9 is a sectional view along the axis C-C of the needle of Figure 7.
- Figure 10 is a sectional view along the axis C-C of the needle of the figure
- FIG. 11 illustrates a detail of FIG.
- the watch component according to the invention is a needle 1, in particular a minute hand, intended to equip a movement of a timepiece.
- the needle 1 is formed in the traditional manner of a head 2 connected to a main body formed of a board 3 terminated by a point 4.
- a barrel 5 is drilled in the head 2 for fixing the needle 1 on a pavement minutes of movement.
- the needle 1 comprises in its board 3 at least one housing 6 for receiving at least one stone 7, 7 'precious or not.
- the housing 6 is through, that is to say it has no bottom.
- the housing 6 is shaped to receive four gems 7, 7 'having the shape of rod, and in particular of diamond rod, and extends to the tip 4 of the needle 1.
- Said housing 6 comprises in particular a first end called crimping end 61 and a second end, said tip end 62.
- the housing 6 has a rail 8 on its entire periphery.
- the rail 8 is shaped for:
- the rail 8 comprises an upper rail 81 visible when the needle 1 is seen from above and continuous over the entire periphery of the housing 6 (see Figures 1, 3 and 7 in particular).
- a lower rail 82 completes the upper rail 81.
- the lower rail 82 is discontinuous: it is formed of several tabs 83 separated by empty spaces 84, as shown in Figure 4.
- the tabs 83 are distributed over the periphery of the housing 6 to allow to retain each of the four stones 7, 7 when in their final set position (see FIGS. 8, 10 and 11) and also to allow the insertion of the stones 7, 7 'into the rail 8 during crimping. To do this, and as shown in Figures 4, 6 and 8, there are no tabs 83 at the crimping end 61 of the housing 6 to allow a rocking movement of the stones 7, 7 'for their insertion into the rail 8 during crimping.
- the tip end 62 of the housing 6 having a pointed shape to conform to the tip 4 of the needle 1 the empty spaces 84 'at this end 62 preferably have a particular shape for allow the proper positioning of a point stone 7 'and its particular facets cut according to the shape of the tip 4 of the needle 1.
- the needle 1 further comprises a crimping stud 9 placed on the board 3 at the crimping end 61 of the housing 6. The crimping stud 9 is deformable and allows after being deformed to block the stone or stones 7 , 7 'in the housing 6 once they have been crimped into their final position. FIG.
- the needle 1 is placed, face down, on a setting comprising a recess in the shape of the needle 1 to avoid a "disembowel" of the needle 1 and the housing 6 due to the fact that said housing 6 is through in this embodiment.
- the four crimping stones 7, 7 ' are diamond rods, one of them 7' having a pointed end to conform to the shape of the tip 4 of the needle 1.
- the stones 7, 7 ' are inserted one by one in the rail 8 by the crimping end 61 of the housing 6 starting with the end stone 7'.
- said crimping end 61 does not include tabs 83 on the lower rail 82 of the rail 8, it is possible to insert each stone 7, 7 'between the upper rail 81 and the lower rail 82 by a flip-flop movement.
- each of the stones 7, 7 ' is then slid into the rail 8 to its final position.
- the crimping stud 9 is deformed and folded on the last stone 7 to lock it in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the housing 6 and also to block all the stones 7, 7 'in a direction parallel to said axis longitudinal.
- the stones 7, T can no longer slide in the rail 8 or swing out of the rail 8 by the crimping end 61 of the housing 6.
- the deformation of the crimping stud 9 necessary for the permanent locking of the stones 7, 7 'in the housing 6 is only minimal and generates little effort on the needle 1 itself, thus avoiding the risk of deform the needle 1 as a whole.
- a central stone 10 is again traditionally set in the barrel 5 of the needle 1.
- the barrel 5 of said needle 1 preferably also comprises two slots 51. These slots 51 allow the squaring of the barrel 5 for its adjustment on the floor minutes, even after crimping the central stone 10.
- a watch component is made in which one or more precious stones can be crimped in a simple and safe manner while maintaining a perfect aesthetic (see FIGS. 1 and 7), the upper rail 81 visible in plan view is continuous and the crimping stud 9, located on the underside of the needle, is thus hidden once the needle is mounted in its final position on the watch movement).
- the forces on the component during crimping that could generate deformations of said component are greatly reduced, since it is necessary to deform only a single element (plot) whose size can be very small. Crimping is also greatly facilitated (especially time saving).
