本発明は、スタッドレスタイヤのトレッドゴムに用いられるゴム組成物、及びそれを用いたスタッドレスタイヤに関するものである。スタッドレスタイヤとは、スノータイヤの一種であり、滑り止めのための鋲(スタッド)を埋め込んでいないスノータイヤである。
氷上路面を走行するための空気入りタイヤとしてスタッドレスタイヤがある。スタッドレスタイヤにおいては、氷上路面での走行性能(即ち、氷上性能)を向上することはもちろんのこと、最近の環境負荷低減の観点からは転がり抵抗性能も同時に改善することが望ましい。
ところで、特許文献1には、老化防止剤に油ゲル化剤(例えば、N-ラウロイル-L-グルタミン酸-α,γ-ジ-n-ブチルアミド)を添加してゲル化させたものをゴム組成物に配合することが開示されている。しかしながら、老化防止剤による耐オゾンクラック性を向上するために油ゲル化剤を用いる技術であり、氷上性能の点から吸油性ポリマー粒子を用いることは開示されていない。
一方、特許文献2,3には、タイヤの走行に起因するゴムの硬化を抑制するために、プロセスオイルに対して2倍以上の吸油力を有する吸油剤をプロセスオイルとともにゴム組成物に配合することが開示され、該吸油剤として、プロセスオイルと高い親和力を持つポリマーを低架橋重合してなる多孔性ビニル系ポリマーゲル粒子を用いることが開示されている。しかしながら、これらの文献において、吸油剤はプロセスオイルをゴム組成物中に長期間にわたって保持する機能を持つものであり、吸油したポリマーゲル粒子により氷上性能と転がり抵抗性能を改良することについては開示されていない。
本発明は、以上の点に鑑み、氷上性能と転がり抵抗性能を向上することができるスタッドレスタイヤ用ゴム組成物を提供することを目的とする。
本実施形態に係るスタッドレスタイヤ用ゴム組成物は、天然ゴム及びポリブタジエンゴムを含むゴム成分と、ガラス転移温度が-70~-20℃でありかつ分子量分布が3.0未満であるポリマーからなり吸油量が100~1500ml/100gである吸油性ポリマー粒子と、オイルとを含み、吸油性ポリマー粒子の含有量が前記ゴム成分100質量部に対して0.5~25質量部であるものである。
本実施形態に係るスタッドレスタイヤは、上記ゴム組成物からなるトレッドゴムを備えたものである。
本実施形態によれば、氷上性能と転がり抵抗性能を向上することができる。
以下、本発明の実施に関連する事項について詳細に説明する。
本実施形態に係るゴム組成物は、天然ゴム及びポリブタジエンゴムを含むゴム成分と、吸油性ポリマー粒子と、オイルとを配合してなるものである。
上記ゴム成分において、天然ゴム(NR)及びポリブタジエンゴム(BR)の比率は特に限定されず、例えば、一実施形態として、ゴム成分100質量部は、天然ゴム15~75質量部及びポリブタジエンゴム25~85質量部を含んでもよく、また、天然ゴム50~70質量部及びポリブタジエンゴム30~50質量部を含んでもよい。
ゴム成分としては、天然ゴム及びポリブタジエンゴムとともに、スチレンブタジエンゴム(SBR)を含んでもよい。これら3成分の比率は、特に限定されず、例えば、一実施形態として、ゴム成分100質量部は、天然ゴム15~70質量部、ポリブタジエンゴム25~80質量部、及びスチレンブタジエンゴム0~45質量部を含んでもよく、天然ゴム15~70質量部、ポリブタジエンゴム25~80質量部、及びスチレンブタジエンゴム5~45質量部を含んでもよい。ゴム成分100質量部は、天然ゴム25~60質量部、ポリブタジエンゴム25~50質量部、及びスチレンブタジエンゴム0~40質量部を含んでもよく、天然ゴム25~60質量部、ポリブタジエンゴム25~50質量部、及びスチレンブタジエンゴム5~40質量部を含んでもよく、天然ゴム25~40質量部、ポリブタジエンゴム25~40質量部、及びスチレンブタジエンゴム20~40質量部を含んでもよい。
スチレンブタジエンゴムとしては、溶液重合スチレンブタジエンゴム(SSBR)を用いてもよく、乳化重合スチレンブタジエンゴム(ESBR)を用いてもよい。また、シリカ表面のシラノール基と相互作用のある官能基で変性された変性スチレンブタジエンゴム(変性SBR)を用いてもよく、一実施形態として変性SSBRを用いてもよい。変性SBRの官能基としては、例えば、アミノ基、アルコキシル基、水酸基などが挙げられる。これらはそれぞれ1種のみ導入されてもよく、あるいはまた2種以上組み合わせて導入されてもよい。すなわち、変性SBRとしては、アミノ基、アルコキシル基、及び水酸基からなる群から選択される少なくも一種の官能基を持つものが挙げられる。官能基は、分子末端に導入されてもよく、あるいはまた分子鎖中に導入されてもよい。
なお、ゴム成分には、上記のNR、BR及びSBRの他に、本発明の効果が損なわれない限り、他のジエン系ゴムが含まれてもよい。
上記吸油性ポリマー粒子としては、ガラス転移温度が-70~-20℃であり、分子量分布が3.0未満であるポリマーからなり、吸油量が100~1500ml/100gであるポリマー粒子が用いられる。NR/BRを含むゴム成分に対し、オイルとともに、かかる吸油性ポリマー粒子を配合することにより、氷上性能と転がり抵抗性能をバランス良く向上することができるが、その理由は次のように考えられる。すなわち、吸油性ポリマー粒子がオイルによりゲル化(即ち、膨潤)し、ゲル化した吸油性ポリマー粒子が、ゴム成分からなるマトリックス(連続相)中に分散した分散相として、フィラーを含まないフィラー非偏在相を形成する。該フィラー非偏在相は、ミクロに柔軟な相でもあり、路面に吸着しやすくなる。また、該フィラー非偏在相は、ガラス転移温度が低いことから、低温領域での路面への吸着性が高くなる。そのため、氷上性能を向上すると考えられる。また、分子量分布が小さい吸油性ポリマー粒子を用いたことにより、低発熱性能を向上して、タイヤの転がり抵抗性能が向上すると考えられる。
吸油性ポリマー粒子の吸油量は100~1500ml/100gであり、このような吸油量の高い吸油性ポリマー粒子を用いることにより、氷上性能を向上することができる。また、吸油量が1500ml/100g以下であることにより、耐摩耗性の低下を抑えることができる。吸油性ポリマー粒子の吸油量は、300~1300ml/100gであることが好ましく、より好ましくは500~1200ml/100gであり、800~1200ml/100gでもよい。ここで、吸油量とは、上記吸油性ポリマー粒子100g当たりに吸収可能なオイルの最大量(飽和状態での吸油量)であり、JIS K5101-13-1によって測定される値である。
吸油性ポリマー粒子のガラス転移温度(Tg)は-70~-20℃である。このようにガラス転移温度の低い吸油性ポリマー粒子を用いることにより、低温領域での路面への吸着性を高めて氷上性能を向上することができる。また、ガラス転移温度が-70℃以上であることにより、転がり抵抗性能の向上に有利である。吸油性ポリマー粒子のガラス転移温度は、-60~-40℃であることが好ましく、-60~-50℃でもよい。ここで、ガラス転移温度は、JIS K7121に準拠して示差走査熱量測定(DSC)を用いて測定される値(昇温速度20℃/分)である。
吸油性ポリマー粒子は、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)が3.0未満であるポリマーからなる。分子量分布が3.0未満であることにより、低発熱性能の悪化を抑えることができ、タイヤの転がり抵抗性能の悪化を抑えることができる。分子量分布は、2.0以下であることが好ましく、より好ましくは1.5以下であり、1.2以下でもよい。分子量分布の下限は特に限定されず、1以上であればよく、1.1以上でもよい。ここで、分子量分布は、ポリマーの数平均分子量(Mn)に対する重量平均分子量(Mw)の比である。Mn及びMwは、GPC(ゲルパーミエーションクロマトグラフィー)を用い、標準ポリスチレンより換算した値であり、例えば、測定試料0.2mgをTHF1mLに溶解させたものについて、(株)島津製作所製「LC-20DA」を使用し、フィルター透過後、温度40℃、流量0.7mL/分でカラム(Polymer Laboratories社製「PL Gel3μm Guard×2」)を通し、Spectra System社製「RI Detector」で検出することができる。
吸油性ポリマー粒子の平均粒径(吸油していない状態での平均粒径)は、特に限定されず、例えば10~1000μmでもよく、100~800μmでもよく、300~700μmでもよい。ここで、平均粒径は、走査型電子顕微鏡(SEM)で観察して画像を得て、この画像を用いて、無作為抽出された50個の粒子の直径を計測することにより、その相加平均として求められる。粒子の直径は、例えば、MediaCybernetics社の画像処理ソフト「Image-Pro Plus」を用いて、粒子の外周の2点を結び、かつ重心を通る径を、2度刻みに測定した値の平均値とすることができる。
一実施形態において、吸油性ポリマー粒子は、その繰り返し単位としてスチレン単位とエチレン単位を含有するコポリマーからなるものでもよい。また、一実施形態において、吸油性ポリマー粒子は、多孔性の粒子であってもよい。
以上のような特性を持つ吸油性ポリマー粒子としては、名東化製(株)から「アクアN-キャップ」として市販されており、好ましく用いることができる。アクアN-キャップは、熱可塑性ブロックコポリマーからなる顆粒状パウダーであり、吸油性熱可塑性ポリマー粒子である。アクアN-キャップは、オイルは吸収するが水は吸収しない親油疎水性を持ち、オイルをマイクロカプセル封入することができる。
上記ゴム組成物中における吸油性ポリマー粒子の含有量は、ゴム成分100質量部に対して0.5~25質量部であることが好ましい。含有量が0.5質量部以上であることにより、氷上性能と転がり抵抗性能を向上することができ、また、25質量部以下であることにより耐摩耗性の低下を抑えることができる。吸油性ポリマー粒子の含有量は、ゴム成分100質量部に対して、1~20質量部であることが好ましく、より好ましくは2~15質量部である。
上記オイルとしては、ゴム組成物に配合される各種オイルを用いることができる。好ましくは、オイルとしては、炭化水素を主成分とする鉱物油を用いることである。すなわち、パラフィン系オイル、ナフテン系オイル、及びアロマ系オイルからなる群から選択される少なくとも1種の鉱物油を用いることが好ましい。
オイルと吸油性ポリマー粒子との含有比は、氷上性能と転がり抵抗性能の両立効果を高める上で、次のように設定されることが好ましい。すなわち、オイルの含有量(A)は吸油性ポリマー粒子の含有量(B)に対して質量比で1~15倍((A)/(B)=1~15)であることが好ましい。(A)/(B)は、より好ましくは2~10である。
一実施形態において、吸油性ポリマー粒子とオイルは、吸油性ポリマー粒子にオイルを吸収させたオイル-ポリマー複合体として配合してもよい。すなわち、吸油性ポリマー粒子とオイルを予め混合して、吸油性ポリマー粒子にオイルを吸収させ、これにより得られたオイルを含む吸油性ポリマー粒子を、ゴム成分に添加し混合するようにしてもよい。
なお、ゴム組成物中に含まれるオイルの含有量は、特に限定されず、例えば、ゴム成分100質量部に対して、5~40質量部でもよく、10~30質量部でもよい。
本実施形態に係るゴム組成物には、上記した各成分に加え、通常のゴム工業で使用されているカーボンブラックやシリカなどの補強性充填剤、亜鉛華、ステアリン酸、ワックス、老化防止剤(アミン-ケトン系、芳香族第2アミン系、フェノール系、イミダゾール系等)、加硫剤、加硫促進剤(グアニジン系、チアゾール系、スルフェンアミド系、チウラム系等)などの配合薬品類を通常の範囲内で適宜配合することができる。
補強性充填剤(即ち、フィラー)としてのカーボンブラックとしては、特に限定されず、公知の種々の品種を用いることができる。例えば、SAF級(N100番台)、ISAF級(N200番台)、HAF級(N300番台)、FEF級(N500番台)(ともにASTMグレード)のものが好ましく用いられる。これら各グレードのカーボンブラックは、いずれか1種又は2種以上組み合わせて用いることができる。
シリカとしても、特に限定されないが、湿式沈降法シリカや湿式ゲル法シリカなどの湿式シリカが好ましく用いられる。シリカを配合する場合、スルフィドシラン、メルカプトシランなどのシランカップリング剤を併用することが好ましく、その配合量はシリカ配合量に対して2~20質量%であることが好ましい。
補強性充填剤としては、カーボンブラックを主成分とすることが好ましく、すなわち、補強性充填剤の50質量%超がカーボンブラックであることが好ましい。より好ましくは補強性充填剤の70質量%以上がカーボンブラックである。ゴム組成物中における補強性充填剤の含有量は、特に限定されないが、ゴム成分100質量部に対して20~150質量部でもよく、30~100質量部でもよく、40~80質量部でもよい。補強性充填剤としては、好ましくは、カーボンブラック単独、又はカーボンブラックとシリカとの併用である。ゴム組成物中におけるカーボンブラックの含有量は、特に限定されず、ゴム成分100質量部に対して15~100質量部でもよく、20~80質量部でもよく、30~60質量部でもよい。
上記加硫剤としては、粉末硫黄、沈降硫黄、コロイド硫黄、不溶性硫黄、高分散性硫黄などの硫黄が挙げられ、特に限定するものではないが、その配合量はゴム成分100質量部に対して0.1~5質量部であることが好ましく、より好ましくは0.5~3質量部である。また、加硫促進剤の配合量としては、ゴム成分100質量部に対して0.1~5質量部であることが好ましく、より好ましくは0.5~3質量部である。
本実施形態に係るゴム組成物には、また、氷上性能をさらに向上するために、植物の多孔質性炭化物の粉砕物、多孔性セルロース粒子、及び、植物性粒状体からなる群より選択される少なくとも1種の防滑材を含有してもよい。
ここで、多孔質性炭化物の粉砕物とは、木、竹などの植物を材料として炭化して得られる炭素を主成分とする固体生成物からなる多孔質性物質を粉砕してなるものであり、例えば、竹炭の粉砕物(竹炭粉砕物)などが挙げられる。また、多孔性セルロース粒子としては、ビスコース等のアルカリ型セルロース溶液に多孔化剤を加え、セルロースの凝固・再生と多孔化剤による発泡とを同時進行させて得られたセルロース粒子が挙げられ、例えば、レンゴー株式会社製「ビスコパール」などが挙げられる。植物性粒状体としては、種子の殻、果実の核、穀物及びその芯材からなる群から選択された少なくとも1種を粉砕してなる粉砕物が挙げられ、例えば、胡桃(クルミ)の粉砕物などが挙げられる。
これら防滑材の粒径は、特に限定されず、例えば、90%体積粒径(D90)が5~1000μmでもよく、100~700μmでもよい。D90は、レーザ回折・散乱法により測定される粒度分布(体積基準)における積算値90%での粒径を意味する。これらの防滑材を配合する場合、その配合量は、ゴム成分100質量部に対して1~10質量部であることが好ましい。
本実施形態に係るゴム組成物は、通常に用いられるバンバリーミキサーやニーダー、ロール等の混合機を用いて、常法に従い混練し作製することができる。例えば、ノンプロ練り工程で、ゴム成分に対し、吸油性ポリマー粒子及びオイルとともに、加硫剤及び加硫促進剤を除く他の添加剤を添加混合し、次いで、得られた混合物に、プロ練り工程で加硫剤及び加硫促進剤を添加混合してゴム組成物を調製することができる。
このようにして得られるゴム組成物は、空気入りタイヤであるスタッドレスタイヤの接地面を構成するトレッドゴムに用いられる。スタッドレスタイヤとしては、乗用車用タイヤでもよく、トラックやバスなどの重荷重用タイヤでもよい。スタッドレスタイヤのトレッドゴムには、キャップゴムとベースゴムとの2層構造からなるものと、両者が一体の単層構造のものがあるが、接地面を構成するゴムに好ましく用いられる。すなわち、単層構造のものであれば当該トレッドゴムが上記ゴム組成物からなり、2層構造のものであればキャップゴムが上記ゴム組成物からなることが好ましい。
スタッドレスタイヤの製造方法は、特に限定されない。例えば、上記ゴム組成物を、常法に従い、押出加工によって所定の形状に成形して未加硫のトレッドゴム部材を作製し、該トレッドゴム部材を他の部材と組み合わせて未加硫タイヤ(グリーンタイヤ)を作製した後、例えば140~180℃で加硫成型することにより、スタッドレスタイヤを製造することができる。
以下、本発明の実施例を示すが、本発明はこれらの実施例に限定されるものではない。
バンバリーミキサーを使用し、下記表1に示す配合(質量部)に従って、まず、ノンプロ練り工程で、ゴム成分に対し、硫黄及び加硫促進剤を除く他の配合剤を添加し混練し(排出温度=160℃)、次いで、得られた混練物に、プロ練り工程で、硫黄と加硫促進剤を添加し混練して(排出温度=90℃)、タイヤトレッド用ゴム組成物を調製した。表1中の各成分の詳細は以下の通りである。

得られたゴム組成物について、160℃で30分間加硫した所定形状の試験片を用いて、耐摩耗性を評価した。また、各ゴム組成物を用いて乗用車用スタッドレスタイヤを作製した。タイヤサイズは215/45ZR17とし、トレッドゴムに各ゴム組成物を適用し、常法に従い加硫成型することにより、スタッドレスタイヤを作製した。得られたタイヤについて、転がり抵抗性能と氷上性能を評価した。各評価方法は以下の通りである。
・耐摩耗性:JIS K6264に準拠し、岩本製作所(株)製のランボーン摩耗試験機を用いて、荷重40N,スリップ率30%の条件で摩耗減量を測定し、摩耗減量の逆数について比較例1の値を100とした指数で示した。指数が大きいほど、摩耗減量が少なく、耐摩耗性に優れることを示す。
・転がり抵抗性能:転がり抵抗測定ドラム試験機を用いて、空気圧230kPa、荷重4410N、温度23℃、80km/hの条件で各タイヤの転がり抵抗を測定し、転がり抵抗の逆数について比較例1の値を100として指数で示した。指数が大きいほど、転がり抵抗が小さく、低燃費性に優れることを示す。
・氷上性能:タイヤ4本を2000ccの4WD車に装着し、氷盤路(気温-3±3℃)上で40km/h走行からABS作動させて制動距離を測定し(n=10の平均値)、制動距離の逆数について比較例1の値を100とした指数で表示した。指数が大きいほど制動距離が短く、氷上路面での制動性能に優れることを示す。
結果は表1に示す通りである。コントロールである比較例1に対し、アミノ酸系油ゲル化剤を配合した比較例4では、氷上性能が悪化した。比較例2,3では、添加したポリメタクリル酸メチルやシリコーン樹脂粉末の吸油量が低いものであり、氷上性能が悪化した。比較例5では、吸油性ポリマー粒子の配合量が多すぎて耐摩耗性が損なわれていた。
これに対し、実施例1~6であると、耐摩耗性を損なうことなく、氷上性能と転がり抵抗性能がバランス良く向上していた。
以上、本発明のいくつかの実施形態を説明したが、これら実施形態は、例として提示したものであり、発明の範囲を限定することは意図していない。これら実施形態は、その他の様々な形態で実施されることが可能であり、発明の要旨を逸脱しない範囲で、種々の省略、置き換え、変更を行うことができる。これら実施形態やその省略、置き換え、変更などは、発明の範囲や要旨に含まれると同様に、特許請求の範囲に記載された発明とその均等の範囲に含まれるものである。

- 天然ゴム及びポリブタジエンゴムを含むゴム成分と、ガラス転移温度が-70~-20℃でありかつ分子量分布が3.0未満であるポリマーからなり吸油量が100~1500ml/100gである吸油性ポリマー粒子と、オイルとを含み、吸油性ポリマー粒子の含有量が前記ゴム成分100質量部に対して0.5~25質量部である、スタッドレスタイヤ用ゴム組成物。
- 前記オイルの含有量が前記吸油性ポリマー粒子の含有量に対して質量比で1~15倍である、請求項1に記載のスタッドレスタイヤ用ゴム組成物。
- 前記ゴム成分100質量部が、天然ゴム15~75質量部及びポリブタジエンゴム25~85質量部を含む、請求項1又は2に記載のスタッドレスタイヤ用ゴム組成物。
- 更にフィラーを前記ゴム成分100質量部に対して20~150質量部含み、前記フィラーの50質量%超がカーボンブラックである、請求項1~3のいずれか1項に記載のスタッドレスタイヤ用ゴム組成物。
