- the token master when the token master circulates and returns to its own device, the token master can retransmit within the transmission permission period. More specifically, the token master retransmits the token. It is determined whether or not the token retransmitted in (1) returns to the own device within the transmission permission period. When the token master determines that re-transmission is impossible, the token master continues to hold the token without re-transmitting the token, and after the next transmission permission period, that is, the period A during which transmission by the communication protocol A is permitted. Send a token.
- the maximum time required for the token master to transmit the token and circulate through each communication device that performs communication using the token control protocol and return to the token master is determined in advance. That is, the maximum value of the token circulation time, which is the time required from when the token master transmits a token to when it returns to the token master, is determined based on the number of communication devices that perform communication using the token control protocol. Therefore, the token master determines that the token cannot be retransmitted when the remaining time of the period A at the time when the token circulates and returns is smaller than the maximum value of the token circulation time. Note that by setting the length of the period A shown in FIG. 8 to an integer multiple of the maximum value of the token circulation time, the token master can easily determine whether the token returned to the own device can be retransmitted.
- a communication device that performs communication by the token control protocol can be included in the communication devices forming the network system 100.
- each token master receives the token, and within the transmission permission period during which the transmission of its own device is permitted, that is, within the transmission permission period during which transmission by the token control protocol is permitted. It is determined whether or not the token can reach the token master. When each token master determines that the token can reach the next token master within the transmission permission period, the token master transmits the token. If each token master determines that the token cannot reach the next token master within the transmission permission period, it does not transmit the token during the current transmission permission period, but waits until the next transmission permission period before transmitting the token. To do. It is assumed that each token master holds in advance information on the cyclic route of the token and information on the next token master of its own device on the cyclic route.

- communication devices # 2 and # 4 correspond to communication protocol B
- communication devices # 1 and # 6 correspond to communication protocol C
- the communication apparatus # 1 corresponds to the communication protocols A and C.
- each communication cycle includes a period A that is a transmission permission period for permitting transmission by a communication device corresponding to the communication protocol A and a transmission by a communication device corresponding to the communication protocol B.
- a period B that is a transmission permission period to be permitted and a common period that is a transmission permission period in which transmission by the communication devices # 1 to # 6 is permitted regardless of the corresponding communication protocol.
- Protocol A is a token control protocol.
- the communication device # 6 may transmit data of the communication protocol C during a period other than the common period during which transmission is originally possible. In the illustrated example, the communication device # 6 transmits data of the communication protocol C to the communication device # 1 in the period A and the common period, and the communication device # 5 receives these data.
- the communication device # 5 determines that the data received from the communication device # 6 in the period A is data other than the communication protocol A, and holds the received data without transferring it. Thereafter, when the common period comes, the communication apparatus # 5 transfers the data of the communication protocol C received and held from the communication apparatus # 6. Further, the communication device # 5 immediately transfers the data received from the communication device # 6 during the common period.

- the periodic real-time data that is the first data is data that is required to be transmitted with low delay and is periodically transmitted in the control of industrial equipment.
- the second data is data that requires transmission with low delay in the control of industrial equipment, but it is unclear when it is transmitted. It is data.
- the timing at which aperiodic real-time data is transmitted is not completely unclear, and the timing at which the aperiodic real-time data may be transmitted is determined in advance.
- the aperiodic real-time data is transmitted at a timing corresponding to a cycle that is an integral multiple of the transmission cycle of the periodic real-time data. The same applies to second to ninth examples to be described later. Note that the timing at which aperiodic real-time data is unclear and may be transmitted may not be determined in advance.
- Non-periodic real-time data includes, but is not limited to, data that requires low-delay transmission among transient data that is control data transmitted by transient communication for control of industrial equipment. .
- the transient data there is data that does not require low-delay transmission, that is, data that does not cause a problem even if the transmission delay time increases.
- the periodic real-time data corresponds to control data transmitted by cyclic communication for controlling industrial equipment, but is not limited thereto.
- Each cycle that is, the cycle at which the period A starts is determined to be the same as the cycle in which the periodic real-time data is transmitted.
- the length of the period A is determined in consideration of the cycle in which the periodic real-time data is transmitted, the data amount of the periodic real-time data, the variation in the transmission delay time, the maximum data amount of the aperiodic real-time data, and the like.
- the slave transmits data that occurs irregularly other than non-periodic real-time data, that is, data that does not cause a big problem even if the transmission delay time becomes large, in a common period.
- the slave may determine whether the data that does not cause a big problem even if the transmission delay time becomes large, using the communication protocol used for data transmission, or information in the header of the frame in which the data is stored You may judge from.
- the period A is a transmission permission period in which data transmission using a protocol for transmitting data requiring low-delay transmission is permitted.
- the common period is a transmission permission period in which data transmission using a protocol for transmitting data that does not require low-delay transmission is permitted. In the common period, communication using a protocol for transmitting data requiring low-delay transmission is also possible.
- the network system of this embodiment can be applied even when a communication device corresponding to a communication protocol for transmitting periodic real-time data and aperiodic real-time data is included, and low-delay transmission is realized. it can.

- the header portion of the frame is reduced, which means efficient transmission, that is, overhead other than data. Transmission with a low rate can be realized.
- the periodic real-time data and the aperiodic real-time data are data of the communication protocol A. The same applies to each example described later.
- FIG. 13 is a diagram of a third example of the data transmission operation in the network system according to the second embodiment.
- FIG. 13 shows a case where a slave transmits data to a master in a network in which a common period, which is a transmission permission period in which transmission by all communication devices is permitted regardless of the corresponding communication protocol, is set. An operation example is shown.
- FIG. 13 shows an example of the data transmission operation when the slave transmits the periodic real-time data and non-periodic real-time data of protocol A in different communication frames in the same common period.
- the period in which the common period is set is determined based on the period in which the periodic real-time data is transmitted. Specifically, the period for setting each common period is determined so as to be the same as the period in which the periodic real-time data is transmitted. That is, the length of each common period is set to be the same as the period in which the periodic real-time data is transmitted.
- Periodic real-time data is transmitted in each common period.
- the periodic real-time data may be transmitted in each common period, and the arrangement order of the periodic real-time data and the aperiodic real-time data transmitted in the same common period is not limited.
- the example shown in FIG. 13 shows three types of non-periodic real-time data, that is, non-periodic real-time data, from the transmission of periodic real-time data in period 1 to the transmission of periodic real-time data in the next period 2. A case where transmission of data # 1, # 2, and # 3 occurs is shown. In the example shown in FIG.
- the non-periodic real-time data # 1 and # 2 are transmitted in the common period of period 1, and the non-periodic real-time data # 3 is temporarily held in the buffer in the slave, and then the period 2 In order to prevent the delay time from becoming large in the common period, the periodic real-time data # 2 is transmitted in advance.
- the slave may transmit the periodic real-time data and the aperiodic real-time data in one communication frame.
- the slave generates non-periodic real-time data when transmitting data that occurs irregularly other than non-periodic real-time data, specifically, data that does not cause a big problem even if the transmission delay time increases.
- the transmission is performed in a common period of a period that is not performed, or in a common period of a period in which the amount of aperiodic real-time data to be transmitted is small. That is, the slave preferentially transmits the periodic real-time data and the aperiodic real-time data in each common period, and the remaining data after the transmission of the periodic real-time data and the aperiodic real-time data is finished for the other data. Send in the period.

- the slave transmits the periodic real-time data and the non-periodic real-time data that require low-delay transmission preferentially over other data that does not cause an increase in transmission delay time. Even in the example shown in FIG. 13, low-delay transmission of periodic real-time data and aperiodic real-time data can be realized.
- FIG. 14 is a diagram of a fourth example of the data transmission operation in the network system according to the second embodiment.

- the length of the period A is changed according to the presence / absence of aperiodic real-time data. Since the transmission cycle of the periodic real-time data is constant regardless of the presence or absence of non-periodic real-time data, the length of each cycle including the period A and the common period is constant.
- the slave When the slave completes the transmission of the periodic real-time data and the aperiodic real-time data in each cycle, the slave terminates the period A and treats it as a common period, and there is other data that does not cause an increase in transmission delay time. To send this. Since the master only receives data transmitted from the slave, it is not necessary to accurately recognize whether it is the period A or the common period. However, when the master wants to recognize these, the slave operates as follows. do it. For example, when transmitting periodic real-time data, the slave includes information indicating whether or not to transmit non-periodic real-time data in the same period A in the periodic real-time data. Notify the master of the presence or absence of When the master receives periodic real-time data that does not include information indicating that the non-periodic real-time data is transmitted, the master recognizes that the remaining time of the same period is a common period.
- each slave When the transmission of periodic real-time data and aperiodic real-time data is completed in each cycle, each slave terminates the period A and treats it as a common period, and transmits other data when other data exists. To do. Each slave receives other data that does not fall into either the periodic real-time data or the aperiodic real-time data before the transmission of the periodic real-time data and the aperiodic real-time data is completed, that is, before the period A ends. Is received from another slave, and after the period A is completed after the transmission of the periodic real-time data and the aperiodic real-time data is completed, the other data held is mastered. Send to.
- the slave may transmit the periodic real-time data and the aperiodic real-time data in one communication frame.
- each slave flexibly changes the length of the period A and the length of the common period, so after the transmission of the periodic real-time data and the aperiodic real-time data is completed, Data can be transmitted immediately, and the transmission delay of other data can be kept low.
- FIG. 15 is a diagram of a fifth example of the data transmission operation in the network system according to the second embodiment.
- FIG. 15 is similar to FIG. 13, in a network in which a common period that is a transmission permission period in which transmission by all communication devices is permitted regardless of the corresponding communication protocol, The operation example in the case of transmitting data is shown.
- the slave when transmitting the aperiodic real-time data, determines whether transmission of the aperiodic real-time data is completed before the next periodic real-time data transmission timing is reached. . If the slave cannot complete the transmission of the aperiodic real-time data until the next periodic real-time data transmission timing, the slave divides the aperiodic real-time data and transmits it by the next periodic real-time data transmission timing. The first half of the data and the remaining second half of the size that can be completed are generated. Then, the slave transmits data to the master in the order of the aperiodic real-time data in the first half, the periodic real-time data, and the aperiodic real-time data in the second half.
- the slave when the aperiodic real-time data # 1 is generated, the slave completes the transmission of the aperiodic real-time data # 1 before starting transmission of the next periodic real-time data # 2.
- the aperiodic real-time data # 1 is divided into aperiodic real-time data # 1 (1/2) and aperiodic real-time data # 1 (2/2), and the periodic real-time data # 2 Send before and after.
- the slave when transmitting the aperiodic real-time data # 2, the slave divides it into two and transmits it before and after the periodic real-time data # 3.
- the non-periodic real-time data is divided and transmitted using the preemption function of the TSN (Time Sensitive Networks) standard defined by IEEE (The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.). To realize.
- TSN Time Sensitive Networks
- IEEE Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.

- An operation example in the case where a slave transmits data to a master in a network in which a common period that is a transmission permission period in which transmission by a device is permitted is set is shown.
- the example shown in FIG. 16 differs from the example shown in FIG. 11 in that the period A and the common period set as the master do not completely match the period A and the common period set as the slave.
- the set value takes into account the delay time on the transmission path from the slave to the master. Assuming that the delay time on the transmission path from the slave to the master is Td, the start time of the period A and the common period in the slave is set to a value earlier by Td than the start time of the period A and the common period in the master.
- the slave transmits the periodic real-time data in each period A, and transmits the aperiodic real-time data in the remaining period of the period A after the transmission of the periodic real-time data is completed.

- the slave interrupts transmission of the aperiodic real-time data # 1. Transmission of the periodic real-time data # 1 is started. Thereafter, in the period A of the next cycle 2, the slave transmits the periodic real-time data # 2, and then retransmits the aperiodic real-time data # 1 whose transmission is interrupted in the cycle 1.
