イーサネット(登録商標)用等のコネクターにおいて、レセプタクルにインタフェースの状態等を表示させるための状態表示用ランプ(表示ランプ)が設置されることがある。

導光部110、111はそれぞれ、表示ランプ210、211の発光をユーザが視認し易い位置であるプラグ100のケーブル側に導光する。導光部110、111は、柱状の形態を有し、透明な樹脂等により形成される。導光部110、111それぞれの一方の端面は、表示ランプ210、211の発光面からの発光を受光する位置に配置される。導光部110、111の他方の端面は、プラグのケーブル側に繋がる。導光部110、111は、プラグ100と一体に形成される。
本実施形態における動作について説明する。
図2は、本発明の第1の実施形態におけるプラグの動作を説明するための図である。
レセプタクル200に設置された表示ランプ210からの発光は、導光部110を通りプラグ100本体に導光される。導光された表示ランプ210からの発光は、プラグ100のケーブル側の一部を発光させる。
以上説明したように、本実施形態におけるプラグ100では、表示ランプ210等の発光がプラグ100に導光される。そして、プラグ100に導光された表示ランプ210等の発光により、プラグ100が発光する。従って、本実施形態におけるプラグ100には、表示ランプが前面に形成されたレセプタクルにプラグが接続された状態における表示ランプの視認性が向上するという効果がある。尚、導光部110とプラグ100の本体の間に隙間があると光が漏れることがあるので、両者は隙間なく接することが望ましい。
又、本実施形態におけるプラグ100では、レセプタクル200を含む装置を変更することなく表示ランプ210等の発光状態の視認性が向上する。従って、本実施形態におけるプラグ100には、表示ランプの発光状態の視認性を安価に向上させることができるという効果がある。
図3は、本発明の第1の実施形態における変形例の構成の一例を示す上面図である。図3は、プラグがレセプタクルに挿入された後の状態を示す。
本変形例におけるプラグ101は、プラグ101の挿入方向の軸に沿って垂直方向に光セパレーター130を有する。光セパレーター130は、不透明な板状の部材である。光セパレーター130は、プラグ101の内部又は上面に形成される。
この構成により、レセプタクル200の正面の左右に設置された表示ランプ210、211それぞれの発光は、プラグ101の左右の反対側において光セパレーター130により遮断される。そのため、表示ランプ210、211それぞれの発光は、プラグ101の左右の一方の側のみを発光させる。
従って、本変形例におけるプラグ101には、左右の表示ランプ210、211の発光を区別することができるという効果がある。
(第2の実施形態)
次に、本発明の第2の実施形態について説明する。本実施形態では、導光部は、レセプタクルに接続されたプラグ又はレセプタクルに接続されたプラグに接続されたケーブルにより隠蔽され難い位置又は方向へ、入射した光を導光する。
(第2の実施形態)
次に、本発明の第2の実施形態について説明する。本実施形態では、導光部は、レセプタクルに接続されたプラグ又はレセプタクルに接続されたプラグに接続されたケーブルにより隠蔽され難い位置又は方向へ、入射した光を導光する。
図4は、本発明の第2の実施形態におけるプラグの構成の一例を示す斜視図である。図4は、プラグがレセプタクルに挿入された後の状態を示す。
本実施形態におけるプラグ102の導光部112、113はそれぞれ、一方の端面が表示ランプ210、211の発光を受光するように対向し、プラグ102の上方へ延伸し、他方の端面がプラグ102の斜め上方へ光を射出するための切り欠きを有する。尚、本実施形態では、プラグは、透明又は半透明である必要はなく、不透明であってもよい。
図5は、本発明の第2の実施形態におけるプラグの動作を説明するための図である。図5(a)に示されるように、表示ランプ211からの発光は、導光部113の一方の側面から入射し、プラグ102の上方へ導光される。導光された光は、導光部113の他方の端面における斜め上方の切り欠きから、水平乃至上方の方向に射出される。
従って、本実施形態におけるプラグ102には、表示ランプからの発光について、プラグの前面方向乃至上方方向からの視認性が高いという効果がある。
図6は、本発明の第2の実施形態における第1の変形例の構成の一例を示す斜視図である。図6は、プラグがレセプタクルに挿入された後の状態を示す。
本変形例におけるプラグ103の導光部114、115はそれぞれ、一方の端面が表示ランプ210、211の発光を受光するように対向し、プラグ103の上方へ延伸し、他方の端面が半球形の形状を有する。
この構成により、図5(b)に示されるように、表示ランプ211からの発光は、プラグ103の上側の全方向に射出される。
従って、本変形例におけるプラグ103には、表示ランプからの発光について、プラグ上側の方向からの視認性が高いという効果がある。
又、本実施形態におけるプラグの導光部は、プラグと一体に形成される必要はなく、プラグ本体に後付けで設置される導光部品であってもよい。
図7は、本発明の第2の実施形態における第2の変形例の構成の一例を示す斜視図である。図7(a)は、導光部品の装着前の状態を示す。図7(b)は、導光部品の装着後の状態を示す。
本変形例における導光部品116は、レセプタクル200の正面方向に向けて発光された光を上方向へ導光する導光部品である。導光部品116は、導光部を有しないプラグ104に、両面テープや接着剤等を用いて固定される。
この構成により、本変形例における導光部品116には、通常のプラグを用いて、レセプタクルの表示ランプの視認性を向上することができるという効果がある。尚、導光部品116の形状及びサイズは、各種のプラグ104及びレセプタクル200の種類、及び表示ランプ210、211の位置等に応じて複数種類が用意されてもよい。
図8は、本発明の第2の実施形態における第3の変形例の構成の一例を示す斜視図である。図8(a)は、導光部品の装着前の状態を示す。図8(b)は、導光部品の装着後の状態を示す。
本変形例における導光部品117は、レセプタクル200の正面方向に向けて発光された光を上方向へ導光する導光部と、導光部をプラグ104の先端に爪で固定する嵌合部とを有する。
この構成により、本変形例における導光部品117には、両面テープや接着剤等を使わずに、通常のプラグを用いて、レセプタクルの表示ランプの視認性を向上することができるという効果がある。
図9は、本発明の第2の実施形態における第4の変形例の構成の一例を示す斜視図である。図9は、レセプタクルへの装着後の状態を示す。
本変形例におけるプラグ105の導光部118、119はそれぞれ、表示ランプ210、211の発光位置より上方にレセプタクル200の正面に沿って平行移動した位置において、レセプタクル200の正面に垂直な方向にプラグ105の端部あるいはその近傍まで延伸している。
この構成により導光部118、119の先端の位置がユーザに近くなるので、本変形例におけるプラグ105には、レセプタクルがレセプタクルを含む装置の奥まった位置にある場合でも、表示ランプの発光状態の視認性を向上することができるという効果がある。
図10は、本発明の第2の実施形態における第5の変形例の構成の一例を示す斜視図である。図10は、レセプタクルへの装着前の状態を示す。
本変形例におけるプラグ106の導光部120、121には、光の射出部にアルファベット等の文字や記号が印刷又は刻印されている。文字や記号は、例えば、その信号の意味や、プラグを複数並べる時のそのプラグの順番等を表示してもよい。
この構成により、本変形例におけるプラグ106には、表示ランプの意味を視認し易いという効果がある。
(第3の実施形態)
次に、本発明の第2の実施形態を基本とする、本発明の第3の実施形態について説明する。本実施形態におけるアダプターでは、第2の実施形態におけるプラグが、レセプタクルと嵌合する向きと逆の向きにおいて、別のレセプタクルに固定的に接続される。
(第3の実施形態)
次に、本発明の第2の実施形態を基本とする、本発明の第3の実施形態について説明する。本実施形態におけるアダプターでは、第2の実施形態におけるプラグが、レセプタクルと嵌合する向きと逆の向きにおいて、別のレセプタクルに固定的に接続される。
図11は、本発明の第3の実施形態におけるアダプターの構成の一例を示す斜視図である。
本実施形態におけるアダプター300は、プラグ107と、レセプタクル201とを含む。
プラグ107は、第2の実施形態における何れかのプラグと同じである。尚、図11は、プラグ107が導光部112、113を有する例を示している。
プラグ107は、レセプタクルと嵌合する向きと逆の向きにおいて、レセプタクル201に電気的に接続される。つまり、アダプター300は、プラグ107が嵌合される別のレセプタクルをアダプター300の長さの分だけ延長して、プラグ107が嵌合される別のレセプタクルとの間の信号を中継する。
以上説明したように、本実施形態におけるアダプター300には、第2の実施形態におけるプラグの効果に加えて、導光部を有しない通常のプラグを、アダプターを介してレセプタクルに接続できるという効果がある。
以上、本発明を、上述した各実施形態及びその変形例によって例示的に説明した。しかしながら、本発明の技術的範囲は、上述した各実施形態及びその変形例に記載した範囲に限定されない。当業者には、係る実施形態に対して多様な変更又は改良を加えることが可能であることは明らかである。そのような場合、係る変更又は改良を加えた新たな実施形態も、本発明の技術的範囲に含まれ得る。そしてこのことは、請求の範囲に記載した事項により明らかである。

- 表示ランプが前面に形成されたレセプタクルに前記前面から接続されるプラグであって、
一端から前記表示ランプの光を入射し、前記レセプタクルに接続された前記プラグ又は前記レセプタクルに接続された前記プラグに接続されたケーブルにより隠蔽され難い位置又は方向へ、入射した光を導光し、導光した光を他端から射出する導光部
を備えるプラグ。 - 前記隠蔽され難い位置又は方向は、前記表示ランプの発光位置が前記レセプタクルの前面に沿って平行移動された位置である
