Definitions
- the invention relates to a bottom bracket for a bicycle comprising at least one in the axial direction of the bottom bracket in a bottom bracket sleeve of a frame of the bicycle insertable and attachable there bearing device with a housing and a housing arranged in the pivot bearing, which rotatably mounted on the housing support portion and a contrast mounted storage section through which a bottom bracket of the bicycle is storable in the installed state has.
- the invention relates to a bicycle.
- Bottom brackets of bicycles which are also called bottom bracket stored in bicycles, the bottom bracket to which the cranks are attached.
- Such bottom bracket typically consist of two ball bearings, one of which is located in the left and one in the right area of a bottom bracket sleeve of the frame of the bicycle.
- To hold the ball bearings on the bicycle frame housings made of metal or plastic are used.
- To connect the ball bearing with the housing several approaches are known. If a metal housing is used, the ball bearing can be held for example by a press fit or by a snap ring. Often, however, should be used plastic housing, as they are cheaper to manufacture and unlike metal housings can be more corrosion resistant.
- the invention is therefore based on the object to provide a bottom bracket in which the attachment of the ball bearing is improved on the housing.
- a bottom bracket of the aforementioned type wherein the support portion is pressed by a clamping element in the axial direction against a stop, wherein the clamping element is screwed in the axial direction in the housing, wherein an external thread of the clamping element engages in an internal thread of the housing.
- the pivot bearing it is thus proposed to fix the pivot bearing on the housing so that it is clamped in the axial direction by the clamping element and the stop. Since the clamping element is screwed into the housing, the axial position of the clamping element is continuously variable by tightening or loosening the corresponding screw, whereby the pivot bearing can be supported without clearance. On the other hand, it is possible to solve this screw again to disassemble the bottom bracket.
- the attachment according to the invention requires no special adaptation of the used pivot bearing.
- the bottom bracket may include a plurality of housings having therein pivot bearings, wherein the housings are preferably locatable in the bottom bracket sleeve, that one of the pivot bearing near the right edge and one of the pivot bearing is mounted near the left edge of the bottom bracket.
- the clamping of the pivot bearing takes place such that in the installed state of the bottom bracket, the clamping element is located on the center of the bottom bracket sleeve side facing the pivot bearing and the stop on the environment of the bicycle facing or away from the center of the bottom bracket sleeve side of the pivot bearing.
- the housing has a flange which extends beyond the region of the bottom bracket sleeve and rests on a side surface of the frame of the bicycle to to seal the bottom bracket against environmental influences.
- the stop may preferably be arranged on this flange or in the region of this flange.
- the housing may be made of plastic.
- the pivot bearing may be a ball bearing.
- the thread pitches of the internal thread of the housing or the external thread of the clamping element can be selected so that the clamping element does not dissolve at a given pressing force, which it exerts on the mounting portion, even in the typical during operation of the bicycle vibrations.
- the clamping element In order to achieve a higher reliability of the bottom bracket, it may be desirable to secure the clamping element against loosening the screw in the housing. It is therefore possible that the clamping element is pressed by a securing element in the axial direction against the support portion, wherein the securing element is screwed into the housing in the axial direction, wherein an external thread of the securing element engages in the internal thread of the housing.
- the principle of this fuse corresponds to the principle of countering when screwing nuts.
- the clamping element and / or the securing element may be annular or tubular and / or be formed in one piece.
- the clamping element and / or the securing element can preferably be in the form of a hollow threaded bolt, through which the bottom bracket shaft can be guided without contact. They can be made in one piece and / or of the same material.
- the clamping element and / or the securing element may substantially have the shape of a nut, but instead of an internal thread, an external thread is provided and the outer surface of the mother key surface is laid, for example, to the inside of the clamping and / or securing element or against the external thread axially is offset.
- the bottom bracket may comprise two of the bearing devices, the housings of the bearing devices being fixed to one another in the axial direction between the housings. ckenden connecting element are attached. Over this attachment of the housing and thus the storage devices can be achieved on the bike.
- the rotary bearings can be supported in both bearing devices such that a respective clamping element presses the mounting section of the respective rotary bearing against a respective stop.
- the respective clamping elements can each, as explained, be secured by a securing element.
- the housings can be designed such that a radial outer wall of the housing rests on the inside of the bottom bracket sleeve. You can also have a frame stop which abuts axially on the bicycle frame after the axial insertion of the bearing device.
- the connecting element may be tubular and be penetrated in the installed state, in particular without contact, by the bottom bracket shaft.
- the connecting element can be fastened to the housing of at least one of the bearing devices by being screwed with an external thread of the connecting element into the internal thread of this housing.
- the connecting element may form the clamping element or the securing element for the mounting portion of the pivot bearing of at least one of the bearing devices.
- the connecting element can be screwed into the housing far enough that it presses the holding section against the stop or that it presses the clamping element against the holding section.
- it may be screwed into the internal threads of the housing in such a way that on one or both sides it touches neither the holding section nor the securing element nor the clamping element.
- the connecting element for exactly one of the bearing devices serves as a clamping element or securing element.
- the connecting element can also be connected to the respective housing on one or both sides by means of a plug connection or the like.
- the stop can be formed by a portion of the housing. This allows a particularly simple construction of the bottom bracket according to the invention. Alternatively, the stopper may be attached to the housing.
- the clamping element and / or the securing element and / or the connecting element may have a key surface, on which a tool can be applied in order to screw the clamping element and / or the securing element and / or the connecting element into the housing.
- key surfaces for a polygonal key can be provided on an inner surface.
- the invention relates to a bicycle with a frame and a bottom bracket with pedal cranks attached thereto, wherein the bottom bracket is mounted by an arranged in a bottom bracket sleeve of the frame, according to the invention bottom bracket.
- the drawing is a schematic representation and shows a detailed view of an embodiment of a bicycle according to the invention, wherein a sectional view of the bottom bracket sleeve of the frame of the bicycle is shown with an arranged therein embodiment of a bottom bracket according to the invention.
- the rotatable mounting is carried out by a bottom bracket, which comprises two bearing devices, each consisting of a housing 3 with an attached pivot bearing 4, namely a ball bearing.
- the two housings 3 are connected via a connecting element 12.
- the pivot bearings 4 each have a holding section 5 which is fastened to the housing 3, and a bearing section 6 which is mounted rotatably about the pivot axis 14 with respect to the mounting section 5 and which supports the bottom bracket 7.
- a plurality of balls 15 are arranged to form the ball bearing.
- the attachment of the support portion 5 and thus of the pivot bearing 4 on the respective housing 3 is effected by the support portion 5 is pressed by a clamping element 8 against a arranged on the housing 3 stop 9.

- the attachment of the pivot bearing thus takes place in such a way that the clamping element 3 is screwed into the housing 3 in the axial direction, that is to say in the direction of the axis of rotation 14, and is thus pressed against the mounting section 5 in order to support it.
- the housing 3 shown on the left and right in the figure, which each comprise the bottom bracket 7 in a substantially annular manner, are held in the bottom bracket sleeve 1 by being connected to the connecting member 12 substantially tubularly surrounding the bottom bracket shaft 7.
- the bottom bracket can for example be attached to the frame 2 of the bicycle that the connecting element 12 is first screwed into the left housing 3, after this already, as explained above, the pivot bearing 4 has been attached to this.
- the left housing 3 with the fastener 12 attached thereto can be inserted axially along the axis of rotation 14 in the bottom bracket sleeve 1, while the right housing 3 can be axially inserted from the right side into the bottom bracket sleeve 1 and screwed to the connecting element 12.
- the clamping member 8 can be secured by the securing member 11 shown on the right side of the figure.
- the securing element 1 1 essentially corresponds in its structure to the clamping element 8 and also has an external thread, via which it is screwed into the internal thread of the housing 3.
- the clamping element 8 is pressed against the support portion 5 and the clamping element 8 and the securing element 1 1 press against each other, whereby a necessary torque for releasing the screw connection of the securing element 1 1 or of the clamping element 8 is increased.
- the connecting element 12 acts as a fuse element. This is as well as the securing element 1 1 screwed into the internal thread of the housing 3 until it presses the clamping element 8 against the support portion 5.
- the connecting element 12 thus acts at the same time as a securing element.
- the housing 3 are preferably made of plastic. In this case, they are particularly resistant to corrosion, allow a particularly good sealing of the pivot bearing and are inexpensive to manufacture.
- the clamping elements 8, the securing elements 1 1 and the connecting element 12 are preferably each made in one piece and of the same material. They can be made of metal or plastic. In order to enable a simple assembly of the storage devices or the bottom bracket, the clamping elements 8, the securing element 1 1 and the connecting element 12 each have key surfaces on which a tool can be attached in order to screw them into the respective housing 3.
- the bowl surface may be designed such that a recess with a polygonal shape is provided on the inside of the clamping, securing or connecting element, in which, for example, an Allen wrench can engage.
- clamping elements 8 could both be secured by a respective, separately formed from the connecting element 12 securing element, so that in the figure both left and right each one fuse element 1 1 would be provided. LIST OF REFERENCE NUMBERS
