Definitions
- the field or technological field where the present invention is applied for practical use is catheters for medical and health purposes.
- Catheters are medical devices in the form of plastic or rubber tubes, sometimes coated, that are inserted into the channels, vessels, pathways or cavities in the body to facilitate a variety of functions, such as injection or fluid extraction , the maintenance of open ducts, the use of an incision device or the delivery of an electric charge. Catheters make it possible to drain or inject fluids or to access areas of the body with surgical instruments. Most catheters are used for cardiovascular, renal, hemodynamic infusion or neurological applications.
- a tunneled catheter is referred to which makes use of one or more porous sleeves to anchor the catheter in the skin of a patient, and / or to minimize the risk of infection.
- a catheter comprising: an axis constructed of a polymeric material that is located near a first opening at said proximal end and a second opening at said distal end; a lumen extending between said first and second aperture; a porous element arranged around a part of said axis, wherein said porous element comprises the first polymeric material and is positioned closer to the proximal end of the axis than the distal end of the axis.
- a clamp for coupling a complementary catheter is also described in EP1603626 A1, allowing the secure placement of the clamp in different places in the catheter.
- the clamp comprises an internal receiving location to receive and fit over the complementary catheter projection. The doctor can select the preferred location in a cuff catheter, either before or during surgery.
- the different devices described above address particular problems of the different catheters according to the application being sought.
- the new device described in the present invention can operate with all types of catheters but is particularly useful in intravenous applications.
- the invention described herein simultaneously solves the problem of accidental needle sticks and the unwanted retro flow of fluids.
- This band and its valve system make it possible to eliminate fluid backflow and prevent unwanted punctures, prevent unwanted strangulation of the supply hose, allow universal connection to medication delivery systems through its Luer-type automatic shut-off connection. Lock as well as prevent the intravenous catheter from accidentally leaving its intravenous position. DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
- Figure 1 is an isometric perspective view of the elements of the assembly of the device that constitute the body of the arm support band, the image includes an example of how the band holds a rigid body with safety valves for the support of the catheter and the venoclysis device with Luer Lock type connector of the present invention.
- Example 1 Preferred mode for the realization of the catheter fastening band of the present invention.
- the fastening band of the present invention comprises as main components: at least one rubber or cloth elastic main fastener band (1), a rubber or cloth elastic secondary fastener band ( 2) preferably with Shore hardness between 20 and 40, a device of the main body to hold the intravenous catheter (3), a Luer-Lock type connector (4) for receiving any external fluid that has a Luer type connector, a tube of connection (5) that transfers the fluid from the Luer-Lock connector to the catheter, a fastener body (6) that aligns the body of a syringe, and a fastening system for the ends of the band either by adhesives, sailboat or a snap-fit system (7).
- a syringe with a needle is inserted through the main body (6) and finally the needle comes out from inside the catheter (3).
- the needle is inserted into a vein, thus guiding the passage of the catheter tube (3) into the vein.
- the needle is thus removed.
- the arm or leg of the patient is then surrounded with the ends of the band (2) in the area of the hand or arm as the case selected to establish a slightly firm hold on the patient's skin.
