Definitions
- the present disclosure relates to an electrolytic solution and an electrochemical device.
- Magnesium used in magnesium batteries is resource abundant and much cheaper than lithium, has a large amount of electricity per unit volume that can be taken out by oxidation-reduction reaction, and is safe when used in batteries. high. Therefore, the magnesium battery is attracting attention as a next-generation secondary battery that replaces the lithium ion battery.
- the moisture content of the electrolyte is an important factor that determines the characteristics of a non-aqueous secondary battery typified by a lithium ion secondary battery. Then, it is said that the battery characteristics are deteriorated due to water mixing. Therefore, the water content in the electrolytic solution is managed to be, for example, 10 ppm or less (see, for example, JP 2009-054462 A).

- the water content is more than 10 ppm and less than 500 ppm.
- Various materials to be constructed are not required to have ultra-dehydration specifications, and no special storage or production line is required, and an increase in the production cost of the electrolytic solution or electrochemical device can be suppressed. Then, by using this excellent electrolytic solution for the electrolyte layer, a high-performance electrochemical device such as a magnesium battery can be realized. Note that the effects described in the present specification are merely examples and are not limited, and may have additional effects.

- the electrolyte solution (Mg—EnPS) of Example 1 was prepared as follows.
- Reagents were weighed and mixed in a glove box (argon gas atmosphere / dew point ⁇ 80 ° C. to ⁇ 90 ° C.). The same applies to the following embodiments. While stirring 100 ml of dehydrated methanol using a stirrer, 3.81 g of anhydrous magnesium (II) chloride (MgCl 2 ) was added. It was confirmed by measuring the temperature outside the reaction vessel with a contact thermometer that there was a slight exotherm when MgCl 2 was dissolved in methanol. This exotherm is due to the heat of reaction when methanol is coordinated to Mg, and it is considered that methanol has a structure coordinated with Mg in methanol.
- II anhydrous magnesium
- the sample after removal of methanol was left cloudy when MgCl 2 was dissolved in methanol, it was filtered in a glove box (pore diameter 0.45 ⁇ m; manufactured by Whatman).
- the moisture content in the state which does not add water was 10 ppm.

- discharge capacity maintenance ratio the discharge capacity maintenance ratio
- the moisture content exceeds 10 ppm and maintains a high capacity maintenance rate up to 400 ppm.
- the water content was 500 ppm or more, the first cycle discharge could not be performed.
- the battery when the water content is 500 ppm or more, it is expected that the battery will not function as a battery due to a decrease in battery characteristics generally caused by an increase in the water content (that is, the electrochemical activity of both the negative electrode and the positive electrode decreases). Is done.
- the water content when the water content is more than 10 ppm and less than 500 ppm, it is more appropriate than water molecules on the negative electrode surface (magnesium surface) and magnesium more than the general decrease in battery characteristics due to moisture. It is considered that the cycle characteristics are improved based on the suppression of unnecessary side reactions with the positive electrode due to the film formation.
- the cycle maintenance rate is improved. A different phenomenon was revealed.
- the material (for example, solvent) constituting the electrolytic solution is not required to have a super dehydration specification, and special storage (for example, a dry room or a glove box) or manufacturing is not required. A line is unnecessary, and an increase in the manufacturing cost of the electrolytic solution and the electrochemical device can be suppressed. Then, by using this excellent electrolytic solution for the electrolyte layer, a high-performance electrochemical device such as a magnesium battery can be realized.
- the second embodiment is a modification of the first embodiment.
- magnesium borohydride (Mg (BH 4 ) 2 ) ⁇ magnesium salt-B> was used as the magnesium salt instead of MgCl 2 .
- Such an electrolytic solution of Example 2 can be produced by dissolving magnesium borohydride (Mg (BH 4 ) 2 ) in sulfone.

That is, while stirring 5 ml of EnPS as a solvent using a stirrer, 49 mg of magnesium borohydride (Mg (BH 4 ) 2 ) was added and stirred using a stirrer for 90 minutes. Magnesium was dissolved in the sulfone. Thereafter, filtration (pore diameter 0.45 ⁇ m) was performed to remove undissolved magnesium borohydride. Then, a predetermined amount of water was added.
- Mg (BH 4 ) 2 magnesium borohydride
- Example 2 Even in such a magnesium secondary battery using the electrolyte solution of Example 2 (coin battery CR2016 type containing sulfur (S) in the positive electrode and magnesium in the cathode), the water content of the electrolyte solution is 10 ppm. In the case of exceeding 500 ppm and less than 500 ppm, excellent cycle characteristics could be obtained as in Example 1.

- the magnesium ion containing non-aqueous electrolyte solution shown can be obtained.
- the magnesium salt used is magnesium borohydride (Mg (BH 4 ) 2 ) and does not contain a halogen atom. Therefore, in addition to the advantages described in the first embodiment, it is not necessary to make various members constituting the electrochemical device from a material having high corrosion resistance. And since this electrolyte solution has a simple composition, the cost of the electrolyte solution itself can be greatly reduced. By using this excellent electrolyte solution in the electrolyte layer, a high-performance electric battery such as a magnesium battery can be used. A chemical device can be realized.
- an Mg electrolyte solution (Mg—EnPS-toluene) was prepared as follows. That is, 1.9 grams of low-moisture toluene as a nonpolar solvent was added while stirring 11.8 grams of the electrolyte solution (Mg-EnPS) of Example 1 using a stirrer.
- An Mg electrolyte solution (Mg—EiPS) was prepared as follows. That is, as in Example 1, anhydrous magnesium chloride (II) (MgCl 2 ) was dissolved in dehydrated methanol, and then 43.6 g of EiPS was added while stirring with a stirrer. Then, in the same manner as in Example 1, the solution was kept out of the glove box while keeping the atmosphere free of contamination, and heated and stirred at 110 ° C. for 2 hours while reducing the pressure using a rotary pump. Methanol was removed. When methanol was decreased, a white precipitate was formed. However, when heating under reduced pressure was continued, the generated precipitate was dissolved.
- Mg electrolyte solution (Mg—DnPS) was prepared as follows. As in Example 1, after anhydrous magnesium chloride (II) (MgCl 2 ) was dissolved in dehydrated methanol, 48.1 g of DnPS previously dissolved with a hot stirrer was added while stirring with a stirrer. . Then, methanol was removed in the same manner as in Example 1. When methanol was decreased, a white precipitate was formed. However, when heating under reduced pressure was continued, the generated precipitate was dissolved. This change in solubility is thought to be due to the exchange of the Mg ligand from methanol to DnPS. The removal of methanol was confirmed by 1 H NMR measurement.
- Moisture content of electrolyte even in Mg electrolyte (Mg-EnPS-toluene), Mg electrolyte (Mg-EnPS-BF 4 ), Mg electrolyte (Mg-EiPS) and Mg electrolyte (Mg-DnPS) When the rate was more than 10 ppm and less than 500 ppm, excellent cycle characteristics could be obtained as in Example 1.
