Description

ROTATABLE PEDESTRIAN OVERPASS
Technical Field
The invention relates to the object of enabling the pedestrians to cross over by not consuming energy and in a safe, fast, pleasing and comfortable way in highways, railroads and seaways without changing cabs by being simultaneously rotated from the center of the overpass after the elevator cabs rise, in which the pedestrians travel.
Prior Art
Pedestrian crossings are divided into three groups: pedestrian crosswalks, pedestrian underpasses and pedestrian overpasses.
Pedestrian crosswalk is a specifically marked place designated for pedestrians to cross over on a road. Pedestrian crosswalk is divided into two as signalized crosswalks and unsignalized crosswalks. Pedestrian crossings are often found at intersections, but may also be at other points that would otherwise be too unsafe to cross due to the busy vehicle traffic, high speed limits or wide roads. Apart from this, they are also commonly installed where large numbers of pedestrians are attempting to cross such as in shopping areas and school areas. It cannot be said that the pedestrian crossings are always safe. Even if the right of way belongs to the pedestrians there is a possibility that drivers violate this right. This violation may happen knowingly or unknowingly. The drivers may not notice the pedestrians with instantaneous absence of the drivers. This may be caused by the road conditions, the status of the vehicle or by the conditions that the drivers may not guess the next move of the pedestrians. The pedestrians must control the movements of all the vehicles on the road before the pedestrians perform the cross over movement. It is also possible that the pedestrians may violate the right of way of the vehicles knowingly or unknowingly.
Moreover, there are also other disadvantages such as environmental pollution caused by exhaust emissions as a result of the traffic flow stops during the cross over movements of the pedestrians and there are also economical disadvantages such as the increase in fuel consumption.
Pedestrian underpasses are the ones which are located under the roads in order not to block the traffic flow. There are also some disadvantages in pedestrian underpasses. There are absolute dangers for the pedestrians because of the malfunctions of the lightings.
The underpasses may be out of use because of the circumstances such as flood in the underpasses caused by unpleasant weather conditions. There may also happen undesired incidents in terms of safety of the pedestrians such as harassments and robberies.
There are basic kinds of pedestrian overpasses and these are the roads which combine the two sides of the road by a connection road raised by the steps and which enable the pedestrians to cross over without encountering the challenges of the vehicle traffic on the roads.
There are also elevator systems, moving stairways and ramp models in addition to the steps on some pedestrian overpasses. Some problems may be mentioned in the applications of these systems. Sometimes the elevator systems may be out of use or the pedestrian on one side of the road may reach top of the bridge via an elevator and after walking a while they can go down by waiting the second elevator. However, in the case that the second elevator is also out of use, the pedestrians have to complete their passage by the steps.
In some of the pedestrian overpasses without elevators, there are moving stairways. It is a commonly known fact that this kind of techniques there is a high possibility of breakdowns as these moving stairways are located outdoor. Moreover, this system is not suitable for the vehicles such as baby carriages and bicycles and for the pedestrians carrying loads.
In the overpasses where the ramp system is applied, it causes much time and energy loss as the pedestrians need to walk a long distance.
In the pedestrian overpasses with steps, there are also time and energy losses because of the high number of the steps and also they are not suitable for the disabled, pregnant, sick, old pedestrians and also for the vehicles such as baby carriages and bicycles.
The pedestrian crossings, overpasses and underpasses constitute the important part of the sustainable transportation. The main object of the pedestrian crossings, overpasses and underpasses is to provide a safe transportation of the pedestrians without blocking the traffic flow. However it can be seen that there are some problems in the existing systems. The existing problems mentioned above, the breakdowns in the overpasses and the underpasses or the reasons caused by not using them absolutely lead to fatal accidents, serious injuries and loss of properties.
This invention relates to the object of enabling the pedestrians to cross over by not consuming energy and in a safe, fast, pleasing and comfortable way in highways, railroads and seaways without changing cabs by being simultaneously rotated from the center of the overpass after the elevator cabs rise, in which the pedestrians travel.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
The object of the present invention relates to enabling the pedestrians on to cross over by not consuming energy and in a safe, fast, pleasing and comfortable way on a structure installed in the blank spaces in the middle of the roads or on junctions in highways, railroads and seaways without changing cabs by being simultaneously rotated from the center of the overpass after the elevator cabs rise, in which the pedestrians travel. Another object of the present invention is to enable cross over of the pedestrians with loads, baby carriages, bicycles and pets apart from the pedestrians.
The rotatable pedestrians overpass has many advantages compared to the existing pedestrian crossings. These advantages may be mentioned under these titles:
1 - Safety advantage;
Pedestrian crossings jeopardize the cross over action because of the reasons such as violations performed knowingly or unknowingly by pedestrians or drivers, road conditions and status of the vehicles.
- There is a falling hazard possibility in the pedestrian underpasses as there are steps and ramp systems.
In the pedestrian overpasses with steps, moving stairways and ramps, there is also a falling hazard possibility along with the falling hazard from high on the platforms used for cross over after the steps and there is also a loss of life or property possibility when the vehicles with loads passing under the overpass lift their loads very much and the vehicle crushes into the overpass. Moreover, the existing structures give suicide plans a ground.
In another pedestrian overpass model, the ones with elevators, there is also a risk for falling from high for the disabled and normal pedestrians and the pets and loads with them during the passage on the platform after the first elevator.
In this invention, there are no steps and walking platforms. As the travel starts and ends with the pedestrians getting on the elevator, there are no falling risks and other similar risks during any of the stages of the travel. As there are no steps, the height of the bridges may be increased and therefore crushing of high vehicles passing thereunder can be prevented.
2- Time and energy advantage:
- There are time and energy consumptions in the pedestrian overpasses and underpasses with steps and ramps.
In the pedestrian overpass models with elevators, there are time and energy consumptions during the passage on the platform after the first elevator and during waiting the second elevator.
In an overpass with moving stairways, there are time and energy consumptions during the passage on the platform again after moving upwards.
In the rotatable pedestrian overpass, there are no time and energy consumptions during any stages of the travel and it also has many time advantages compared to the existing techniques.
3- Comfort and pleasure advantage:
- Weather conditions may affect the pedestrian crossings as there is unnecessary waiting while using the underpasses and overpasses and the travel is performed in outdoor.
Therefore, it can be seen that all of the existing systems are not comfortable.
In the present invention, there is comfort as there are no disadvantages because there are no waiting period at any stage of the travel and no unpleasant weather conditions. Moreover, the rotatable pedestrian overpass features the pleasure factor of the travel. Only this reason shows that this invention is preferred alone. 4- Availability advantage:
- All of the existing pedestrian crossings lead to fatal accidents, serious injuries and loss of properties as they are not mostly preferred and used because of the disadvantages mentioned above.
It can be seen that the present invention can be preferred as it brings many advantages along such as safety, time, energy, comfort and pleasure mentioned above.
5-Economic and other advantages:
- The steps also increase the costs significantly in most of the pedestrian overpasses with elevators and moving stairways. Moreover, the elevators and moving stairways breakdown frequently as they are used inertly because of the disadvantages mentioned above.
However, in the present invention, there are at least two elevators only according to the feature of the place it will be installed and these are more economic than the existing systems as there are no need for the steps, walking platforms or ramps.
- In all of the existing pedestrian overpasses, there is a stationary structure. They do not have any functional feature for the vehicles passing under the bridge. In the rotatable pedestrian overpass, there is a movable system. It can be clearly seen that when necessary, said load transportation can easily be performed by bringing the location of the rotatable pedestrian overpass parallel to the central refuge in the case that there is load transportation under the bridge which exceeds the height of the bridge. DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The operation mode of the present invention is as follows:
- When it is in the position in Figure 1 , the automatic doors (7) within the stationary cabs (4) and elevator cabs (3) are opened when the pedestrians press the button on the stationary cabs (4) and the automatic doors (7) are closed when the pedestrian get-on and get-off actions are completed.
- The elevator cab (3) comes to the rotatable platform (1 ) level by travelling upwards and it switches into the Figure 2 position. - The rotatable platform (1 ) starts to rotate by the motor-reducer-gear unit (5) within the carrying body (2). Simultaneously, the elevator cabs (3) connected to the rotatable platform (1 ) stops in Figure 2 position when the rotation movement comes to the opposite stationary cabs (4) together with the pole (8) and steel cords (6). - The elevator cabs (3) switch into Figure 1 position by moving downwards and the elevator cabs (3) enter into the stationary cabs (4).
- The automatic doors (7) on the stationary cabs (4) and elevator cabs (3) are opened and the getting-on and getting-off actions of the pedestrians are performed automatically. A quadruple carrier system can be adapted according to the features of the place apart from the double carrier system shown in the figures.
INDUSTRIAL APPLICATION OF THE INVENTION
The rotatable pedestrian overpass serving for the object mentioned above has the industrial manufacturability and applicability. The rotatable pedestrian overpass can be used in all of the highways by changing the technical installations. It not only enables the cabs in which the pedestrians travel to be moved simultaneously by 180° by providing an automatic rotation movement cr eated on the structure installed on a blank space in the middle of the road but it also enables the cabs in which the pedestrians travel to be moved simultaneously by 90° by providi ng an automatic rotation movement created on the structure installed on a junction which is formed by intercepting or connecting two or more roads.
The rotatable pedestrian overpass can be applied in suitable places in railways and seaways by changing the technical installations.
