- the ferrule is characterized by having an upper opening that opens to the lower surface and a lower opening that opens to the lower surface that is the surface opposite to the upper surface. Since the bottom wall of the ferrule is not provided in the lower opening, deformation such as warping of the ferrule can be suppressed. Further, since deformation such as warping of the ferrule can be suppressed, peeling between the end face of the optical fiber and the facing surface is less likely to occur, and transmission loss of the optical signal can be suppressed.
- the length W0 in the predetermined direction of the upper opening is wider than the length W1 in the predetermined direction of the row of the plurality of fiber holes, and the length W in the predetermined direction of the lower opening is the upper side. It is desirable that the opening is wider than half of the length W0. Thereby, since the deformation amount of the ferrule in the lower opening can be brought close to the deformation amount of the ferrule in the upper opening, it is possible to suppress deformation such as warping of the ferrule.
- the length W of the lower opening is wider than the length W1 of the plurality of rows of the fiber holes. Thereby, deformation of the ferrule can be further suppressed.
- the size of the lower opening is such that the adhesive does not pass through the surface tension of the adhesive. Thereby, leakage of the adhesive from the lower opening can be prevented.

- the operator prepares the ferrule 1 of the present embodiment (S101), and inserts each optical fiber 3 of the optical fiber tape into the optical fiber hole 12 of the ferrule 1 (S102). Then, the optical fiber end face is projected from the optical fiber hole opening face 14A. However, at this stage, the end face of the optical fiber is not abutted against the abutting surface 14B of the adhesive filling portion 14. This is because dust or the like may adhere to the end face of the optical fiber when the optical fiber 3 is passed through the optical fiber hole 12.
- the operator cleans the end face of the optical fiber protruding from the optical fiber hole opening surface 14A of the adhesive filling portion 14 (S103). Thereby, dust on the end face of the optical fiber attached when inserted into the optical fiber hole 12 can be removed. In order to remove dust on the end face of the optical fiber in this way, the adhesive 5 is filled after the optical fiber 3 is inserted.
- the operator abuts the end face of the optical fiber against the abutment surface 14B of the adhesive filling portion 14 after cleaning the end face of the optical fiber (S104). At this stage, an air layer exists between the end face of the optical fiber and the abutting surface 14B.

- the structure is such that air can be released to the outside by the lower opening 14D and air bubbles are not easily formed, so the work time for filling the adhesive filling portion 14 with the adhesive 5 is shortened. The effect that it can be made is also obtained.
- the adhesive 5 if the adhesive 5 is filled from the upper opening 14C, the adhesive 5 reaches the lower part of the optical fiber 3 as well. For this reason, since it is only necessary to fill the adhesive 5 from only one side, the filling operation of the adhesive 5 is easier than the case where the adhesive 5 is filled from both the upper and lower sides. Further, if the adhesive 5 is filled from both the upper and lower sides, bubbles are likely to be formed inside the adhesive filling portion 14, but in this embodiment, bubbles are generated by filling the adhesive 5 from one side. Can be suppressed.

- the dimension in the front-rear direction of the adhesive filling portion 14 (the gap between the optical fiber hole opening surface 14A and the abutting surface 14B) is shortened.
- this reason will be described.
- the dimension in the front-rear direction of the ferrule 1 of the present embodiment is 3.5 to 5 mm, which is shorter than the dimension in the front-rear direction (about 8 mm) of a normal MT ferrule.
- the recess 15, the lens portion 16, and the light transmitting portion 18 are provided on the ferrule end surface 10A, it is necessary to ensure these dimensions. As a result, the dimension (gap) in the front-rear direction of the adhesive filling portion 14 is shortened.

It is to do.
- ferrule 1 (main body 10) is prepared (S101). Then, the ferrule 1 is set on a jig (not shown). This jig is configured not to block the vent hole 14E on the lower surface of the ferrule 1. This is for ventilation of the ventilation hole 14. Further, when the jig covers the opening of the vent hole 14E to such an extent that it can ventilate, the adhesive 5 may spread on the lower surface of the ferrule 1 due to capillary action when the adhesive 5 flows through the vent hole 14E. - the adhesive 5 is filled into the adhesive filling portion 14 from the upper opening 14C, and the optical fiber 3 is fixed (S105).
- air below the optical fiber 3 is released to the outside through the vent hole 14E, so that bubbles are hardly formed on the lower side of the optical fiber 3. Therefore, it becomes difficult to form an air layer on the end face of the optical fiber, and signal loss of the optical signal can be suppressed.
- the bubbles on the lower side of the optical fiber 3 are easily removed by the vent hole 14E, the time until the bubbles are removed is shortened (workability can be improved).

Abstract
Description

上側開口部14Cの左右方向の長さW0(上側開口部14Cの左側の内壁と右側の内壁との間隔)は、左端の光ファイバ穴12と右端の光ファイバ穴12との左右方向の間隔W1(以下、ファイバ穴列幅W1という)よりも広い。

<構成>
<構成>
<実施例>

<変形例>
