Definitions
- the present invention relates to a rear vision system for a motor vehicle and to a method of operation of the rear vision system.
- rear view cameras are used in many of today's motor vehicles, and in particular they are part of a parking aid system that makes it easier to park in a location without turning around and detect obstacles behind the vehicle.
- Cameras are known which are installed inside the cockpit against the rear window / bezel looking towards the rear from the rear window of the vehicle. These cameras are well protected from external climatic influences and can for example benefit from the defrosting and cleaning systems of the rear window, for example a heating wire integrated in the glass of the rear window.
- the angle of view is not optimal, especially for parking assistance and for this reason, it is preferred that the camera is arranged at the rear bumper or at the rear registration plate of the vehicle .
- the camera is highly exposed to the projections of dirt that can be deposited on its optics and thus reduce its effectiveness, or even make it inoperative.
- a device for cleaning the optics of the camera usually a nozzle of cleaning fluid, close to it, to remove the polluting elements that are deposited over time.
- the optics of the camera which is a relatively fragile element, is not protected from projections that could damage it. It is also known to mount the camera inside the external skin of the vehicle, and to protect it from external aggressions by means of a protective glass fixed to the cladding.
- the camera is mounted in a housing which has an opening closed by a transparent protective window.
- the shutter may include a scraper blade so that at each opening or closing of the shutter, the transparent protective screen is cleaned.
- the present invention proposes to at least partially overcome the aforementioned drawbacks by presenting an alternative rear vision system and less bulky while allowing an optimized vision by the rear vision camera, as well as a method of operating the system.
- the subject of the invention is a rear view system of a motor vehicle comprising:
- a protective support comprising a transparent and flat protective screen, the optical sensor being installed on the protective support so as to aim through said protective screen, and
- the rear vision system according to the invention may further comprise one or more of the following characteristics, taken alone or in combination:
- the electromagnetic actuation device comprises for example at least one ferromagnetic or magnetized element and at least one electromagnet, one of which is carried by the scraper blade and the other of which is carried by the protective support.
- the electromagnetic actuator comprises at least one return spring for biasing the scraper blade to its rest position when the electromagnetic actuator is not energized.
- the electromagnetic actuating device comprises means for guiding the scraper blade in a scraping direction parallel to the shield and in order to clean it.
- the guide means of the scraper blade may comprise a first rail and a second guide rail parallel to one another and oriented in the scraping direction of the scraper blade.
- the system further comprises for example a device for spraying at least one jet of a washing liquid on the protection screen.
- a device for spraying at least one jet of a washing liquid on the protection screen may include a washing liquid heating unit.
- the protective screen has resistive heating son of the protective screen.
- the scraper blade has resistive heating wires.
- the invention also relates to a method of operating a rear vision system as defined above, characterized in that the electromagnet is powered according to a predefined decreasing current profile.
- the supply of the electromagnet is triggered upon receipt of a signal to engage a reversing speed of the motor vehicle.
- the feed stream is cut off when the electromagnet and the ferromagnetic or magnet element come into contact.
- FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of a vision system according to the invention, in the rest position
- FIG. 2 shows a front view of the system of FIG. 1 after a forward passage of the scraper blade
- FIG. 3 shows a front view of the system of Figure 1 after a return passage of the scraper blade.
- FIGS 1 to 3 show a rear vision system 1 according to the invention for a motor vehicle.
- the rear vision system 1 is for example intended to be mounted at the rear of a motor vehicle, for example at a bumper or a license plate (not shown).
- This rear vision system 1 comprises an optical image sensor 3, such as for example a video camera, and a protective support 5 comprising a transparent and flat protective screen 7, such as a glass pane or polycarbonate pane.
- an optical image sensor 3 such as for example a video camera
- a protective support 5 comprising a transparent and flat protective screen 7, such as a glass pane or polycarbonate pane.
- the optical sensor 3 comprises for example convex optics 8 (curved) such as a fish eye optics ("fish-eye" in English).
- the protective support 5 can be made in the form of a frame as shown in the figures or in the form of a closed housing of which at least a part of one side is formed by the protective screen 7.
- the optical image sensor 3 is installed on the protection support 5 so as to aim through said protection screen 7.
- the rear vision system 1 further comprises a scraper blade 9 for cleaning the protective screen 7 disposed on the face of the protective shield opposite to that of the optical sensor 3 side.
- the scraper blade 9 is for example of the type known by the English name "squeegee blade", and comprises for example a longitudinal piece 9A elastomer or rubber held by a profiled frame 9B longitudinal U.
- the rear vision system further comprises a device 1 1 for electromagnetic actuation in translation of said scraper blade 9 on the protective screen 7 .
- This device 1 1 for electromagnetic actuation comprises for example at least one ferromagnetic or magnetized element 13 and at least one electromagnet 15, one of which (in this case the ferromagnetic or magnetic element 13) is carried by the scraper blade 9 and the other (in this case the electromagnet 15) is carried by the protective support 5.
- the ferromagnetic or magnetized element 13 is made in a single block, disposed at a lower end (seen in the figures) of the scraper blade 9.
- Other locations are conceivable, such as for example a central position on the scraper blade 9 of the ferromagnetic or magnetized element 13, or it is conceivable to have two ferromagnetic or magnetic elements 13 at the ends of the scraper blade 9 facing each other. screws of two corresponding electromagnets.
- the ferromagnetic or magnetic element 13 extends over the entire length of the scraper blade 9 and the electromagnet 15 also extends over the same length.
- the device 1 1 for electromagnetic actuation comprises for example at least one return spring 17, for example a helical spring, in power take-off with said scraper blade 9 to urge it into its rest position shown in Figures 1 and 3 when the device 1 1 of electromagnetic actuation, in particular the electromagnet 15, is in the non-powered state.
- one end strand 19 of the spring 17 is attached to the ferromagnetic or magnetized element 13 while the other end strand (not visible in the figures) is attached to a fixed structural element, for example of the vehicle.
- one pole for example the north pole
- the other pole for example the south pole is on the opposite side
- the scraper blade 9 is guided during its journey by guide means 21 A, 21 B in a direction parallel to the protective screen 7 and so as to clean it.
- the guide means of the scraper blade 9 comprise for example a first rail 21 A and a second guide rail 21 B, parallel to each other and oriented in the scraping direction (indicated by the arrows 23 and 25 respectively). in Figures 2 and 3).
- the cleaning can be improved by adding to the rear vision system 1 a projection device 27 of at least one, in this case five jets 29 of a washing liquid on the back protective screen 7.
- the projection device 27 comprises for example a ramp 31 with five orifices acting as a projection nozzle.
- the ramp 31 is connected via a feed pipe 35 to a delivery pump not shown.
- the system may include a washing liquid heating unit 37.
- one or more resistive heating son can be integrated in the protective screen 7.
- the resistive son when supplied with current, they give off heat which defrosts the protective screen 7.
- the resistive wires are in this case very thin so that they do not appear in the image of the optical sensor 3, that is to say the camera.
- the scraper blade 9 has heating resistive son integrated in the elastomer or rubber part 9A or a heating PTC ceramic component fixed on the frame 9B.
- the vision system according to the invention operates as follows:
- the rear vision system 1 When the driver of the motor vehicle engages for example the speed of reverse, the rear vision system 1 receives a control signal which has the effect of first trigger the projection of a washing liquid on the screen of protection 7 (FIG. 1), then supplying the electromagnet 15. The latter will therefore attract the element 13 ferromagnetic or magnetized (see Figure 2). The scraper blade 9 will thus clean the protective screen 7 during a passage "go".
- the electromagnet 15 can be powered according to a predefined decreasing current profile, that is to say that the supply current and therefore the attractive magnetic field decreases when the element 13 approaches the electromagnet 15 so that to obtain a roughly constant scraping speed.
- This way of feeding is especially advantageous when there is no return spring or a spring having a low restoring force in front of the magnetic force deployed by the electromagnet 15.
- the supply current is cut off when the electromagnet 15 and the ferromagnetic or magnetic element 13 come into contact.
- the return spring 17 will urge the scraper blade 9 in its rest position.
- the protection screen 7 is clean and allows the optical image sensor 3 to deliver a clear and clean image of the scene to be observed behind the vehicle.
- the optical image sensor 3 is well protected from dirt by the device 1 1 of electromagnetic actuation in translation, and that the rear vision system has a small footprint.
- the assembly has fewer parts than prior art assemblies and systems, further reducing the cost and risk of failure.
