- an electrical energy storage device includes a cell assembly 160, a cylindrical metal case 100 containing the cell assembly 160 and an electrolyte, and a metal. at the same time capping the top of the case 100 it is connected to the negative electrode of the cell assembly 160, and to the residual electrolyte comprises a top terminal 110 has a structure to prevent from flowing out into the safety valve.
- a bare cell for a conventional ultracapacitor having a positive electrode and a negative electrode wound together with a separator and having a jelly roll shape may be employed.
- the metal case 100 has a cylindrical body having an inner space for accommodating the cell assembly 160 contained in a predetermined inner housing.
- the metal case 100 may be provided by an aluminum cylinder.
- the upper outer terminal 110 and the lower outer terminal 150 corresponding to the cathode and the anode of the cell assembly 160 are disposed at both ends in the longitudinal direction, respectively, based on the standing state of the metal case 100.
- a first inner terminal 115 is interposed between the cathode and the upper outer terminal 110 to be connected to the cathode
- a second inner terminal 140 is interposed between the anode and the lower outer terminal 150. It is connected with the anode.
- the first inner terminal 115 has a plate-shaped body having a plurality of through holes for electrolyte impregnation, and is tightly coupled to the lower edge of the upper outer terminal 110 to be integrated.
- an end portion of the side in which the second inner terminal 140 and the lower outer terminal 150 are positioned is closed by a bottom portion integrally connected to the case side portion.
- the upper end of the metal case 100 close to the upper outer terminal 110 is preferably bent inward to provide a curry processing unit 102 to prevent the separation of the upper outer terminal 110.
- the side portion of the metal case 100 located near the upper outer terminal 110 may be easily adjusted to the pressure resistance performance by adjusting the amount of curry of the curry processing unit 102.
- the upper outer terminal 110 is to provide a current movement path while capping the upper end of the metal case 100, and has a circular outer circumferential surface corresponding to the inner circumferential surface of the metal case 100 and the overall shape is configured in various three-dimensional shapes. Can be.
- the edge end of the upper outer terminal 110 is adjacent to the cured part 102 with the insulating member 130 interposed therebetween.
- the side surface of the upper outer terminal 110 is insulated from the metal case 100 by the insulating member 103.
- the hollow 113 extending in the thickness direction is formed at the center of the upper outer terminal 110.
- the hollow 113 is, for example, used not only as a space for installing the automatic return type safety valve 120, but also as a pass for injecting electrolyte and an air vent for vacuum operation.
- the upper outer terminal 110 may be fixed to the metal case 100 through a beading process on the metal case 100.
- Beading grooves 114 for forming the bead processing unit 101 on the inner surface of the metal case 100 is provided.
- the beading groove 114 may be formed only in a partial section around the outer circumferential surface of the upper outer terminal 110.
- the upper outer terminal 110 since the upper outer terminal 110 is prevented from being separated by the curing processing unit 102, the upper outer terminal 110 may be attached to the metal case 100 even if the beading groove 114 is formed only in some sections. Can be fixed. In this case, not only can the structure of the upper outer terminal 110 be more simplified, but also forging can be easily applied when manufacturing the upper terminal 100.
- the upper outer terminal 110 includes an outer portion 111, which is a portion exposed to the outside when the metal case 100 is placed in the forward direction, and an inner portion 112 positioned below the outer portion 111.
- the 'forward direction' refers to the arrangement direction of the metal case 100 in a standing state such that the safety valve 120 is positioned at an upper side of the metal case 100.
- the upper outer terminal 110 is made of a single body to simplify the structure, the outer portion 111 and the inner portion 112 is provided on the single body.
- the outer portion 111 corresponds to the upper surface of the upper outer terminal 110 made of a single body
- the inner portion 112 corresponds to the lower surface of the upper outer terminal 110.
- the inner part 112 of the upper outer terminal 110 is provided on the outer side of the first surface 112a adjacent to the hollow 113 and the first surface 112a and the outer portion 111.
- a second surface 112b having a step height higher than the first surface 112a in the) direction.
- the structure in which the second surface 112b is stepped higher than the first surface 112a in the direction of the outer portion 111 may cause the metal case 100 to be reversed or inclined.
- the remaining electrolyte is accumulated to form a concave portion that is a structure that prevents leakage through the hollow 113.
- the residual electrolyte may correspond to a residual amount of the electrolyte that is not absorbed by the electrode when the electrolyte is injected.
- the second surface 112b is formed in a circular pattern so as to form a substantially concentric circle with the outer circumference of the upper outer terminal 110 with respect to the hollow 113. According to this configuration, the metal case 100 is reversed or inclined. When placed, the flow of the electrolyte remaining in the entire surface area of the inner part 112 can be guided to the concave portion to accommodate the flow.
- a third surface 112c having a step difference lower in the direction of the outer portion 111 than the second surface 112b may be added to the outer side of the second surface 112b.
- the third surface 112c should have a stepped structure higher in the outer portion 111 direction than the first surface 112a to prevent leakage. That is, the third surface 112c has a step between the first surface 112a and the second surface 112b.
- This configuration can achieve two purposes. First, the rigidity of the external terminal itself can be secured to prevent deformation or damage caused by external force.
- the outer portion 111 has a structure in which the central portion is the highest and the structure is lowered stepwise away from the center.
- the third surface 112c can prevent the thickness of the external terminal from becoming too thin. Second, residual electrolyte can be further prevented from flowing into the safety valve. That is, even if the amount of the electrolyte is so large that the concave portions formed by the first surface 112a and the second surface 112c cannot accommodate, it is induced to flow in the opposite direction of the hollow 113 to flow into the safety valve. You can prevent it.
- the width W2 of the third surface 112c is relatively larger than the width W1 of the second surface 112b so as to ensure as much space as possible for the remaining electrolyte.
- the thickness T1 corresponding to the step depth of the second surface 112b and the thickness T2 corresponding to the step depth of the third surface 112c are plate-shaped of the upper terminal 110. It is preferable to consider the maximum thickness Tm of the body and the strength of the upper terminal 110. Specifically, the thickness T1 corresponding to the step depth of the second surface 112b and the thickness T2 corresponding to the step depth of the third surface 112c have a step formed on the bottom surface thereof as shown in FIG. 6. It is preferably limited to fall in the range of 30 to 80% with respect to the maximum thickness (Tm) for the plate-shaped body of the upper terminal (110 ') not in the state.
- the plate-shaped body refers to a portion of the upper terminal 110 'except for the upper terminal terminal portion 116' protruding from the center, and may have a planar shape or various three-dimensional shapes.
- the thickness T1 corresponding to the depth of the step of the second surface 112b and the thickness T2 corresponding to the depth of the step of the third surface 112c are less than the lower limit of 30% of the numerical range, the thickness T1 corresponds to the vertical direction.
- the circular upper terminal 110 is bent and deformed easily by an external pressure acting, and exceeds 80%, which is the upper limit of the numerical range, there is a problem in that a sufficient amount of space for the electrolyte is accumulated.
- FIG. 7 and 8 illustrate the action of the leakage preventing structure provided in the electrical energy storage device according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention.
- the inner part 112 of the upper terminal 110 is disposed from the second surface 112b to the outer surface 111 in the direction of the first surface 112a. Since the liquid electrolyte is accumulated in the concave portion formed as the third surface 112c is relatively high, the electrolyte does not flow beyond the threshold of the first surface 112a even when the safety valve 120 is in an open state. Leakage through the 113 is prevented. This effect can be obtained even when the electric energy storage device is inclined obliquely.
- the electrical energy storage device even if placed in the reverse or inclined to the safety valve 120 by remaining in the concave portion formed in the inner portion 112 of the upper outer terminal 110. Outflow to the side can be prevented.
- the structure of the first inner terminal 115 can be reduced by the structure in which the grooves 114 for the bead are formed on the outer circumferential surface of the upper outer terminal 110, the structure of the first inner terminal 115 can be reduced in size and weight. More space can be secured.
