Definitions
- the object of the present invention is a cane for sports practice, namely sport walk (Iwalk®), Nordic walking and similar disciplines, equipped with a handle that allows the rapid separation of the dragonera, as well as a traction block that improves its performance , all this looking for a solution of maximum simplicity and economy that guarantees a great longevity and reliability of the cane.
- Iwalk® sport walk
- Nordic walking and similar disciplines equipped with a handle that allows the rapid separation of the dragonera, as well as a traction block that improves its performance , all this looking for a solution of maximum simplicity and economy that guarantees a great longevity and reliability of the cane.
- Tip located at the lower end of the cane and whose purpose is to dig into the ground.
- - Pad Element that covers the tip and used on those surfaces where the tungsten tip cannot be stuck.
- canes have a dragonera that allows to take and release the handle according to the impulse phase.
- the cane In the first phase of impulse the cane is grasped with the hand, while, in the last one, the cane is released when the hand is opened, then the impulse is realized through the fixation of the cane.
- dragons of specific design for each hand (right and left) are necessary, such as that described in patent EP2178412 which describes a dragonera perfectly adaptable to the metacarpal cavity.
- dragoneras are fixedly attached to the handle.
- Examples include patents CN201831076U, WO201 11 13739, which describes two handles for Nordic walking poles in which the dragonera is held together to the cane by woven ribbons attached to the handle with the possibility of regulating its distance to it, but without possibility of being extracted.
- handles with specific fixing devices have been developed.
- Examples of canes endowed with such handles are patents ES-2218196, US7770931, US8079617 or WO2013171016 which describe canes endowed with a handle with fastening means of the dragonera that allow quick coupling and disengagement.
- the second is to avoid the annoying ringing sound of the tip of the cane against the ground.
- the third is to get traction.
- pad There are several types of pad. Convertibles, such as those described in patents WO201 1128231 and DE102010022042 referring to canes equipped with a pad with retractable tungsten tip, which by means of a manipulation of the cane is exposed allowing its use in soft terrain, or its retraction, facilitating its use in hard terrain.
- These devices are relatively complex as they are formed by several moving parts and therefore more expensive than conventional pads, which consist of rubber or other similar material that are coupled by pressure on the tungsten tip of the cane when walking in hard surface, being removed on soft surface.
- pads are the replaceable type, which are made up of a block of elastic material that covers the tip of the cane.
- pads have a narrow and elongated design with an arcuate contact surface, such as that described in WO2006128312.
- This design allows to maintain a constant footprint with the ground in the whole arc that the cane travels in its impulse phases.
- this footprint is insufficient to transmit all the traction of the arms to the ground, so that adhesion losses are possible, although they do not imply any danger to the walker at all, if They are annoying causing you to lose pace.
- the new cane for sports practice whose protection is collected is constituted by a bar preferably of carbon fiber, of decreasing section towards its lower end, which has a handle at its upper end and a tungsten tip covered by a pad made of a elastomeric material at its lower end.
- the handle is made of a single piece or monobloc that is inserted at the upper end of the carbon fiber bar, which has in its upper area a hook that is part of the body of the handle itself, in which the strip or ring of fixation of the dragonera is inserted.
- This hook has a large seat base for fixing the dragonera in its lower part and a flexible vertical appendix, preferably of decreasing section towards its upper end, which in its upper area contacts the handle body, thus closing the hook entry area.
- a tongue oriented towards the outside of the handle that serves as a skate is provided, facilitating the entry of the fastener of the dragonera.
- the opening and closing of the hook is produced by flexing the vertical appendix towards the outside of the handle, its resistance to bending sufficient to prevent the accidental exit of the dragonera during the repositioning phase of the cane.
- the vertical appendix is sized in such a way that the deformation it suffers to open the hook remains within the range of the elastic modulus of the material used, so that it acts like a spring returning to its original position as soon as the forces necessary to open it disappear. .
- the hook has a groove in the base of the flexible appendix that concentrates the stresses produced and facilitates its bending if especially rigid material is used.
- Another novel aspect of the invention relates to the pad configuration.
- the new cane incorporates a replaceable type pad, which has an ellipsoidal base that constitutes the traction surface in contact with the ground during the impulse phases.
- This ellipsoidal base extends towards the sides of the cane and its surface experiences a curvature in the longitudinal direction, so that the traction area increases markedly with respect to conventional pads.
- the surface of contact with the land has a set of grooves, preferably in the form of chevron, with very defined edges that enhance the traction of the surface to the contact with the ground.
- the ellipsoidal shape of the base allows the traction to be maximum during the impulse phases, because at that time the footprint of the pad corresponds to the central area of the ellipse, decreasing very quickly when it reaches just the final stretch of momentum, moment in which only the end of the pad comes into contact with the ground, so that when the cane is recovered the starting position, the base of the pad is no longer in contact with the ground, but only a point of its frontal edge , being able to drag effortlessly.

- the novel cane for the practice of sports walking is constituted by a carbon fiber bar (1), which has a monobloc handle (2) at its upper end and a tungsten tip covered by a pad ( 3) at its lower end.
- the monobloc handle (2) has in its upper area facing the walker's hand, a hook (4) that is part of the body of the handle itself, in which the fastener ring of the dragonera (5) is inserted, which it is accommodated in a seat base (6) located in its lower part.
- the outer part of the hook is constituted by a flexible vertical appendix (7) of decreasing section towards its upper end, which in its upper area contacts the handle body, thus closing the hook inlet area.
- the handle incorporates a closing projection (8), which forms the point at which the appendix Flexible vertical (7) comes into contact with the handle body, causing the hook to close.
- the vertical flexible appendix (7) acquires the configuration of a tongue oriented towards the outside of the handle that constitutes a skate (9) that facilitates the entry of the fastener of the dragonera (5).
- the hook (4) has a slit (10) at the base of the flexible appendix (7) that concentrates the stresses of the material produced when the hook is opened and that facilitates the movement of the appendix .
- the pad (3) has an ellipsoidal base (11) that extends transversely towards the sides of the cane and whose surface experiences a curvature in the longitudinal direction, whereby, oriented the pad in the direction of travel, this is much more wide than long.
- the ellipsoidal base (1 1) has a set of grooves in the shape of chevron (12), with very defined edges that enhance the traction of the surface in contact with the ground.
