Definitions

  • the present invention concerns disposable capsules for making espresso coffee or other beverages and in particular it concerns a new device for emptying capsules that is suited to open the capsules, thus allowing them to be emptied and the material contained therein to be collected.
  • Coffee coffee machines are known that are used in domestic or professional contexts to make espresso coffee.
  • the known espresso coffee machines comprise a machine body provided with a supporting surface for one or more cups suited to contain the beverage, at least one boiler suited to heat the water and keep it at the desired temperature, a pump suited to force pressurized water through a mass of ground coffee, thus extracting the substances and aromas and obtaining the espresso coffee.
  • Said mass of coffee is generally contained in a holed infuser, in turn constituted by a portion intended to contain coffee powder and by a small arm or lever suited to be manoeuvred in order to constrain the infuser to the machine, pressing the coffee, or to release it in order to perform the feeding or emptying operations.
  • the espresso coffee machines commonly used in domestic or in any case non-professional contexts which usually can prepare one or two coffees at a time, use coffee powder that was previously ground, pressed and sealed in disposable containers of the pod type or of the capsule type, said containers being suited to be inserted in the specially configured infuser of the machine.
  • coffee is packed between two foils or filters made of a material consisting of cellulose, while in the capsules coffee is packed in a rigid and substantially cylindrical container body made of plastic and/or aluminium, with heads provided with holes or micro-holes intended to allow water and the resulting beverage to flow therethrough. At least one of said heads is constrained, for example heat sealed, to the cylindrical body once it has been filled with coffee powder and substantially acts as a lid.
  • the capsules may also contain substances for the preparation of other hot beverages different from coffee, such as hot chocolates, cappuccinos, teas, infusions, etc.
  • pre-packaging ensures better hygienic conditions of the contents and guarantees longer persistence of the aroma in addition to the origin of the coffee being used.
  • pods and capsules contain coffee that has already been ground, dispensed and pressed correctly, while an unskilled user may prepare the mixture incorrectly.
  • Pods and capsules allow a quick use and contribute to keeping the machine clean. Furthermore, no further instruments or tools, such as coffee grinders, dose dispensers, etc are needed to make a coffee. Finally, after making a coffee, it is sufficient to extract said pod or capsule, which can be disposed of as normal waste.
  • capsules need to be disposed of in dumps, so that a very large quantity of non-recyclable waste containing a high organic load is produced.
  • the materials with which the capsules are made may, instead, be disposed of in an alternative manner, as the material of which the containers are made, for example aluminium or polyethylene, is recyclable, while the contents can be disposed of as humid waste suitable for composting.
  • the user who wishes to dispose of waste separately should open the capsule manually, using inappropriate tools like blades, pincers or other tools, with the risk of getting injured, of damaging other objects and of dirtying the surrounding space.

It is another object of the present invention to provide a device that makes it possible to collect the contents of capsules orderly and quickly, without dirtying the surrounding space.
  • An advantage of the present invention lies in that it is light and compact in shape, so that it can be comfortably used for domestic purposes, stored in small spaces when not in use and easily transported.
  • Another advantage of the present invention lies in that it is structurally simple, made up of few components assembled together without using special tools, and operating with no need for means that usually tend to break or jam, such as springs or similar elements.
