Description

BULK STORE
FIELD OF THE INVENTION In general, the present invention relates to a bulk store for storing bulk material in at least one pile and comprising a bulk storing area being laterally delimited by a longitudinally extending delimiting wall and a reclaiming device of the side scraper type movable on a pair of tracks arranged alongside the wall and having a pivotal scraper jib with a scraper chain extending into and over the bulk storing area for reclaiming material from the pile and a counterweight for counterbalancingthe scraper jib scraping material over the wall and into a belt conveyer arranged laterally outside the wall.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION In known bulk stores of the above type, the belt conveyer is arranged between the wall and the track closest to the wall. In order to enable the scraper chain to scrape the material over the wall so that it drops onto the belt conveyer, the pivot axis of the pivotal scraper jib is arranged close to the wall and thereby laterally between the wall and the track closest to the wall. In other words, the pivot axis of the scraper jip is arranged outside the tracks supporting the wheels of the side scraper why a large counterweight is needed to counter balance the jib. The need of a large counterweight means that the width of the side scraper must be increased and the belt conveyer arranged between the wall and the track closest to the wall requires space laterally outside the wall. As in known bulk stores of the above type, the side scraper and the belt conveyer require relatively much space laterally outside the delimiting wall.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The object of the present invention is to provide a bulk store requiring less counterweight for counterbalancing the scraper jib and less space laterally outside the delimiting wall and thereby a bulk store requiring a smaller ground area than known bulk stores of the above type, which is particularly advantageous in bulk stores additionally comprising a building structure enclosing the bulk storing area, the rails and the side scraper. More specifically the present invention relates to a bulk store for storing bulk material in at least one pile and reclaiming bulk material from the pile, and comprising a bulk storing area being laterally delimited by a longitudinally extending delimiting wall, the delimiting wall having a lower upwardly extending preferably upright wall portion having an inner and an outer surface and an upper wall portion extending outwardly away from the bulk storing area at an upper end of the lower wall portion and having an upper and a lower surface, preferably an outwardly and slightly upwardly inclining upper surface, a bulk material reclaiming device of the side scraper type comprising a main frame with a pivotally mounted scraping jib being vertically pivotal about an essentially horizontal pivot axis and extending over the delimiting wall and into and over said bulk storing area for reclaiming material from the at least one pile in the bulk storing area and a counterweight for balancing the scraper jib, the main frame of the reclaiming device being configured to be movable along means for guiding and supporting the reclaiming device, said guiding and supporting means comprising a first and a second mutually parallel track being parallel with the delimiting wall, said main frame being provided with first wheel means for travelling on said first track and second wheel means for travelling on said second track, the first track being arranged closer to the lower wall portion of the delimiting wall than the second track, a belt conveyer arranged at a lower level than the upper wall portion of the delimiting wall for receiving material removed from the pile by means of the scraper jib, wherein - the belt conveyer is arranged between the first and second track of the guiding and supporting means, and said first wheel means for travelling on said first track thereby is arranged between the belt conveyor and the delimiting wall. It should be noted that by the term "wheel means" is to be understood one or more wheels, rollers and the like, both of the motor driven type and of the non-driven type, said term also covering bogies. As the belt conveyer is arranged between the first and second track and thereby also between the wheel means, the first track, i.e. the track closest to the delimiting wall, can be arranged close to the delimiting wall and the required space laterally outside the wall decreased. Additionally the pivot point of the scraper jib can, as seen in a cross sectional view, be arranged between the tracks and thereby between the wheel means of the side scraper, thereby reducing the required counterweight for counterbalancing the scraper jib. As a result, the required space outside the wall is reduced further. Additionally, the reduced counterweight required also reduces the costs of the side scraber.
The first and second track can be arranged at a level lower than the upper wall portion of the delimiting wall. The first and second track can advantageously be arranged at the same level and optionally at floor level.
Preferable, the first track is arranged below the upper wall portion of the delimiting wall, the upper wall portion extending over and preferably beyond the first track in a lateral direction.
The pivot axis of the scraper jib can be arranged at a higher level than the upper wall portion of the delimiting wall and on a vertical line situated between the wheel means of the main frame of the side scraper, when seen in a cross sectional view. As explained above, the required counterweight for counterbalancing the scraper jib is reduced by arranging the pivot axis between the tracks and thereby the wheel means as seen in a cross sectional view.
As seen in a cross sectional view, the pivot axis of the scraper jip can be arranged in such a level above the upper portion of the delimiting wall that the scraper jib does not interfere with the upper wall portion when the scraper jib is pivoted downwardly to an essentially horizontal position and preferably also when the scraper jib is pivoted downwardly to a downwardly pivoted position in which an outer end of the scraper jib is below horizontal and slightly above the floor of the bulk storing area. As seen in a cross sectional view, the inclination of the upper surface of the upper wall portion of the delimiting wall is between 0° and 20°, alternatively between 5° and 15°, such as between 7° and 1 1°.
Preferably, the delimiting wall has a height corresponding to that of an upright grown-up person when measured between the lower surface of the upper wall portion and the floor.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, the bulk store comprises a building structure with lateral walls and a roof enclosing the bulk-store area, the reclaiming device, the tracks along which the reclaiming device is movable and the belt conveyer. When the bulk store comprises a building structure, the above mentioned reduced lateral space required is especially advantageous as the width of the building structure and thereby the roof are reduced correspondingly and the cost for the building structure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF AN EMBODIMENT
The bulk store according to the present invention comprises a bulk storing area 1 for storing bulk material stacked in at least one pile 2. The bulk store is laterally delimited by a delimiting wall 3. The delimiting wall 3 comprises an upright lower wall portion 4 having an inner and an outer surface and an upper wall portion 5 being an extension of the upright lower wall portion 4 at the upper end thereof and extending outwardly away from the bulk storing area 1. The upper wall portion 5 has an outwardly and upwardly inclining upper surface 6 and a lower surface 7. The angle of inclination v of the upper surface 6 of the upper wall portion 5 is in the present embodiment about 9°. The bulk store further comprises a bulk material reclaiming device 8 in the form of a side scraper moveable along and parallel with the delimiting wall 3 on guiding and support means arranged on a floor 10 outside the bulk storing area 1 and a belt conveyer 1 1 also being arranged parallel with the wall 3 and on the floor 10 outside the bulk storing area 1. The supporting and guiding means 9 comprises a first track 12 and a second track 13 being mutually spaced and parallel with the delimiting wall 3. The first track 12 is arranged closer to the delimiting wall 3 than the second track 13. The tracks extend over the entire length of the delimiting wall 3. The first track 12 is arranged below the upper wall portion 5 of the delimiting wall 3, the upper wall portion extending over and beyond the first track 12. Further, the delimiting wall 3 has a height h corresponding to that of an upright grownup person when measured between the floor 10 and the lower surface 7 of the upper wall portion 5 of the delimiting wall 3.
The reclaiming device 8 in the form of a side scraper comprises a main frame 14 having, as seen in a plan view, a triangular shape, and a side 17 thereof is facing the delimiting wall 3. The main frame is provided with first wheel means 15 configured to be guided and supported by the first track 12 and thereby travel on the first track 12 and a second wheel means 16 configured to be guided and supported by the second track 13 and thereby travel on the second track 13. The first wheel means 15 comprises a first wheel arrangement 15a arranged, as seen in a plan view, at a first end of the above side and having at least one wheel and a second wheel arrangement 15b arranged, as seen in a plan view, at a second opposite end of the above side and having at least one wheel. The second wheel means 16 comprises a wheel arrangement 16a comprising at least one wheel and being, as seen in a plan view, arranged at the corner 18 opposite the mentioned side 17 facing the wall 3.
A scraper jib 19 is mounted pivotally about a horizontal pivot axis 20 on the main frame 14 of the reclaiming device 8 and extends over the delimiting wall 3 and into and over the bulk storing area 1 for reclaiming material from the pile. The scraper jib 19 is provided with an endless scraper chain 21 extending between an outer sprocket wheel 22 and an inner sprocket wheel 23 arranged coaxially with the pivot axis 20. The scraper chain 21 is provided with scraper blades 30, however, it can also be provided with scraper buckets (not shown). The scraper jib 19 is pivoted, i.e. lowered and raised by means of a hoist arrangement 24 comprising a support boom 25 supported by a stay 26 and a wire 27 extending from the scraper jib 19 around a pulley 28 at the outer end of the support boom 25 and down to a hoist 29.
The pivot axis 20 of the scraper jib 19 is arranged at a higher level than the upper wall portion 5 of the delimiting wall 3 and on a vertical line I situated between the first and second wheel means 15, 16 of the main frame 14 of the reclaiming device 8, when seen in a cross sectional view. Further, in the embodiment shown, the pivot axis 20 of the scraper jib 19 is arranged in such a level above the upper wall portion 15 of the delimiting wall 3 that the scraper jib 19 does not interfere with the upper wall portion 5 of the delimiting wall 3 when the scraper jib 19 is pivoted downwardly to a downwardly pivoted position in which the outer end of the jib is below horizontal and slightly above the floor of the bulk storing area 1.
A counter weight 31 is connected to the main frame 14 at the corner 18 thereof opposite the side 17. The counterweight 31 is arranged on the outside of the second wheel means 16 in order to properly counterbalance the scraper jib 19 in the lowered position thereof.
The belt conveyer 1 1 is arranged between the first track 12 and the second track 13. The belt conveyer 11 is arranged parallel with the tracks and with the delimiting wall 3 and extends over the entire length of the bulk storing area. As seen in a cross sectional view, the belt of the belt conveyer is essentially U-shaped. Further, it should be noted that the belt conveyer 11 is positioned below the outer end of the upper wall portion 5 of the delimiting wall 3 so that material scraped from the pile 2 of material passes over the upper surface 6 of the upper wall portion 5 and drops onto the belt of the belt conveyer from the outer end of the upper wall portion 5.
Further, from Fig. 1 , it clearly appears that considerable space can be saved laterally outside the delimiting wall 3 by arranging the belt conveyer 11 between the first and second tracks 12, 13 instead of between the delimiting wall 3 and the first track 12 being the track closest to the delimiting wall 3. Finally, in the embodiment shown the bulk store comprises a building structure 32 having lateral walls 33;34 and an roof 35 extending between the walls 33;34. The building structure 32 extends over the entire length of the bulk-store area, the reclaiming device, the tracks along which the reclaiming device is movable and the belt conveyer, and thereby protects said parts from weather conditions.
