Description

Shrimp growth promoting feed additive composition comprising a mixture of turmeric and stevia as an active ingredient
The present invention relates to a feed additive composition for improving shrimp growth comprising turmeric and a mixture of stevia or stevioside as an active ingredient and a feed comprising the same.
In recent years, the fish farming industry suffers from the deterioration of the farming environment and the increase of stress caused by the pollution of the water environment, which leads to a decrease in the activity of the fish, a decrease in the meat quality, and a misuse of antibiotics. In particular, the accumulation of antibiotics in the fish body, the proliferation of antibiotic resistant strains, and the contamination of water due to the misuse of antibiotics are a series of problems. Therefore, new additives for natural immunity enhancement and disease prevention using natural raw materials are necessary at this time. .
On the other hand, seafood, such as shrimp, a typical crustacean fish species, is increasing in quality and quantity on a daily basis due to an increase in national income and interest in health. In particular, shrimp farming is carried out at festival farms in coastal or estuary areas, and these are seriously affected by viral diseases caused by the inflow of seawater. Onshore shrimp farming facilities are increasing in Korea to prevent the influx of viruses, but in the currently operating farms, food wastes and excreta accumulate due to continuous feeding, resulting in odor due to deterioration of water quality. Although a large amount of mortality appears due to the increased concentrations of ammonia, nitrite and nitrate, which are the main causes, the development of shrimp-only aquaculture feed additives has not been made at all.
In view of this, there is a great need for the development of aquaculture feed for shrimp that can prevent disease while having better feed efficiency than high-performance feed additives or imported feed.
The present inventors have confirmed that by mixing turmeric and stevia or stevioside in a constant ratio and using it as a feed additive, the present invention can simultaneously show not only the growth promoting effect of shellfish, especially shrimp, but also the effect of purifying the water quality of cultured water.
