Description
SYSTEM OF RESCUE ROPE LADDER FOR RESCUING TRAPPED
PEOPLE ON SHIP.
The invention is referred to a method and system of rescue rope ladder which will be placed above the ships' exits towards the decks, above windows or portholes of the lounges, above the doors or portholes of the cabins, above the exits of the engine- room and on every other point where there is a possibility of encapsulation of passengers in a ship in case of an emergency and leaning of the ship transversely .
The status quo up to the present at the rescue equipment of all kinds of ships does not allow the passengers to get off the ship in case of an emergency and transversely capsizing of the ship because the escape routes due to the leaning of the ship, which might be at 90 degrees, makes impossible the climbing up of a person with the result of the encapsulation and drowning of the passengers on board. This is what happened in the recent sinking of a ship in Korea with the result of dozens of passengers' drowning.
This invention is referred to a method and system of a rescue rope ladder for evacuation of the ship and rescuing the people on board in case of emergency and transversely capsizing of the ship which will be above the central exits, above some windows of the lounges, above the cabins' doors or above the portholes of the outer cabins, at the exits of the engine-rooms and anywhere else it is considered necessary. It will be supported with suitable bolting on the ship and it includes manual and automatic mechanism of dropping the rescue rope ladder so that the passengers will be able to climb and get off the sinking ship from the exits leading to the deck or to break the window or the portholes at the lounge or the outer cabin and get out on the deck and board on the life saving appliances of the ship.
The advantages of this invention are that it is a method and system of a rescue rope ladder which will be placed permanently indoors above the exits of the ship, the windows of the lounges, the doors or the windows of the cabins, the exits of the engine rooms on the right and left side of the ship. In case of an emergency and transversely capsizing of the ship, the passengers will be able, through manual
activation, to open the system and drop down the rescue rope ladder in order to climb up, open the door that might be stuck with the opening mechanism and get out of the ship or reach the windows or the portholes, break them with a hammer which is included in the system and get out of the area that they are trapped. The system of the rescue rope ladder can be activated automatically too through a special mechanism. Also there will be a rope with length twice as long as the rescue rope ladder with a rescue belt in order to rescue a child or a person who is not able to climb the rope ladder by people who have already climbed up to the deck and pull them out using the rope.
The method and the system of the rescue rope-ladder for evacuation of the ship and rescuing the people on board in case of emergency and the capsizing of the ship can be fully understood from the following technical description in accordance with the attached drawings.
Figure 2 shows the view of the system of the rescue rope ladder for usage on ships in case of an emergency which will be placed above the exit doors towards the decks, above some windows or portholes of the lounges, above the doors and the windows of the cabins, at the exits of the engine rooms or at points where passengers can be trapped. In case of an emergency and capsizing of the ship, the ship shows great leaning on the one side and the passengers who haven't abandoned the ship yet, are gathered at these points. The emergency exit or the windows are found vertically in a great height and the passengers cannot climb and get out of the ship. The system of the rescue rope ladder figure 2 is activated automatically by the leaning of the ship, the counterweight (11) figure 2 pushes the opening mechanism (4) figure 2 and through the hooks (9, 10) figure 2 the door (3) figure 2 opens, due to the gravity the rescue rope ladder (7) figure 2 reels out along with the rescue belt (14) figure 2 and reaches the point where the trapped passengers are. The system of the rescue rope ladder operates manually too by pulling the lever (5) figure 2 and through the cable activates the opening mechanism (4) figure 2. Also, it operates electrically too from the bridge of the ship through the electric valve (20, 21) figure 2 which pushes the opening mechanism (4) figure 2. The rescue rope ladder (7) figure 2 has reached the point where there are the trapped passengers and the climbing towards the exit door
begins. The door will open through the manual winch (18) figure 2. By the reciprocating of the lever of the winch, the wire rope (19) figure 2 is wrapped and through the fulcrum (5) figure 3 of the roller of the changing direction (6) figure 3 it pulls the door (1) figure 3 and opens it. Subsequently, the trapped person gets out of the ship by gripping the handles (2) figure 3. In case there is a window instead of a door, they break it with a hammer (8) figure 2 and they escape. With the saving belt (14) figure 2 people with special needs and young children can be saved by other people who are already on the deck. The system has an autonomous light (17) figure 2 with a lithium battery (15) figure 2, with a pin to activate the battery (16) figure 2 which is tied on the rope ladder (7) figure 2 and when it is activated, pulls out the pin (16) figure 2 turning on the light so that everybody is able to see in order to climb the rope ladder.
