Abstract

Se revela un método implementado por computador que permite discriminar de manera automática entre dos tejidos de interés: un tejido extrínseco y un tejido intrínseco, a partir de una pluralidad de imágenes, logrando obtener una valoración cuantitativa de cada uno de dichos tejidos sin requerir la intervención de un experto. Dicho método implica la definición de una región de discriminación en imágenes obtenidas a partir de un dispositivo de adquisición de imágenes médicas empleando un contorno paramétrico, luego de lo cual la discriminación y cuantificacion se llevan a cabo con base en las características fotométricas de los diferentes tejidos observados en las imágenes, evaluando el vecindario local de cada vóxel perteneciente a la región de discriminación previamente definida dentro de la pluralidad de imágenes. El método revelado incrementa considerablemente la precisión en la discriminación y cuantificacion de tejidos, mientras que el porcentaje de error mostrado es considerado tolerable para propósitos diagnósticos.
