Abstract

The invention proposes an electrical generator, driven by the gravitational or sprung force, torque difference, created by changing the position of the machine's counterbalanced force using an energy input. A gearbox and/or motor is driven by the change in force on the attached lever, by means of gas pressure capture in a cylinder or similar. It is highly adaptable to harness a multitude of energy inputs, scalable, size dependant on the pressure input.a deliberately simple nature for ease of construction, environmentally sound if used with the appropriate energy inputs.

Description

DESCRIPTION
The Gravity Turbine
The gravity turbine was designed as a means of harnessing energy from a multitude of sources, of a non- combustible nature, It is not a perpetual motion machine and needs an energy input to function .That being said, combustible materials can be used in its operation, although not preferred if toxic or greenhouse gas is released. Global warming and the environment were key factors in this decision as my son hasto live in this world we've made.
The expense and efficiency of wind turbines, solar cells and the many other methods were considered and a more efficient method of energy generation was determined.
After yearsof experimentation and prototyping, the design as shown was considered theway forward and aswith any new technology, it will become more efficient with time, money and expert help.
I believe this invention gives humanity an opportunity to generate its energy needs whilst protecting the environment.
To addressthis, the invention proposes an electrical generator, driven by the gravitational torque difference created by changing the position of the machine's counterbalanced force using an energy input.
The several advantages of this machine are: highly adaptable to harness a multitude of energy inputs, scalable dependant on energy requirements, of a simple nature for ease of construction, low cost production, environmentally sound if used with the appropriate energy inputs.
Figure 1 of the accompanying drawing showsthe Gravity turbine in the upright position awaiting a force input at (1)
An electrical motor generator and gearbox (11) is attached to a base structure (13). Attached to the motor and gearbox is a lever (9), weight has been added to the end of the lever (3).
Attached to the lever (9) by means of cable or similar (19) is a mass (17), the cable runs over a wheel which isfree running (20).
At the lower end of the lever (9) below the motor gearbox (11) is a mass (16).
Attached to the lever (9) is a pneumatic cylinder (5) which is connected to the cable (19), this is also sprung (4). The pneumatic cylinder (5) is connected by pneumatic tubing to the pneumatic cylinder at the end of the lever (6)
Pneumatic cylinder (1) is attached also to the lever (9) and has compression added by pushing in and locking off of pneumatic cylinder (1b)
(18) Shows a spring mechanism to assist in the reversal of the levers (9) direction.
Operation The starting position is figure 1 : A force is applied to either cylinder (1) or to the cable (19) pulling the cable (19) downwards towards the lever (9), lowering the torque resistance of the opposing force created by mass (17) This then causes an off balance of the lever (9) and mass (3).The lever (9) and all attached falls under gravity until pneumatic cylinder (6) is struck against (8) the striking plate. The force is then transferred through to pneumatic cylinder (5) and the spring (4)t his sends a force to pneumatic cylinder (6) causing a reversal of the lever (9) direction back up to the start posit ion. (fig 1 ) . When the lever (9) falls it turns the electrical generator and gearbox (11) but on return it doesn't as (15) isa one way bearing, meaning it 'freewheels' back.
When the lever (9) reachesthe returned position it bouncesoff spring mechanism (18) causing a reversal of lever (9) direction , towardsthe ground again. If a force is applied at (1) or (19) then the whole process repeats. Cylinder 1 b lowers the initial force needed to move (1) or (19) to a lower torque position.
Future development
Future developments include the design of module add ons to provide the input forces, some examples but not exhaustive are attachments for water, gas, thermal expansion, hydrophilic and hydrophobic , wind up, chemical reactions, algae etc anything that can be used to create an input force.
Other developments are; to add multiple levers on a single drive shaft. The use of different materials to replace the masses, to make it more lightweight, such as springs or similar. Make the lever the mass. The use of naturally occurring materials, which are common in the area of operation, such as water, sand, mud etc., also not an exhaustive list, asthe mass.
