Abstract
. A presente invenção refere-se um segundo anel de pistão (2) nitretado, que previamente à etapa de endurecimento superficial por nitretação, revela uma composição química que compreende: Entre 0,51 e 0,59% de Carbono; Entre 1,20 e 1,60% de Silício; e Entre 0,60 e 0,80% de Cromo. A presente invenção também revela um pistão (4) dotado de um segundo anel de pistão (2) nitretado, tal como mencionado acima.
Description
SECOND PISTON RING AND AUTOMOTIVE PISTON
A presente invenção refere-se a um segundo anel de pistão dotado de maior resistência e durabilidade que os anéis de pistão de segunda cavidade disponíveis no mercado atualmente. Adicionalmente, a presente invenção também revela um pistão dotado de um segundo anel de pistão, tal como revelado acima.
Descrição do Estado da Técnica
Regra geral todo motor a combustão interna compreende um pistão 4 dota- do de três anéis 1, 2 e 3 (vide figura 1). Cada um destes anéis 1, 2 e 3 compreende uma função específica, sendo elas:
Função do primeiro anel 1 : promover a vedação da câmara de combustão.
Função do segundo anel 2: auxiliar da vedação promovida pelo primeiro anel 1 e formar uma fina película de óleo sobre a face interna da camisa, após a passagem descendente deste anel em relação à camisa. Esta fina película de óleo cumpre a função de lubrificar o contado do primeiro anel 1 com a camisa.
Função do terceiro anel 3: raspar o excesso de óleo abaixo do pistão, impedindo que uma elevada quantidade de óleo lubrificante penetre a câmara de combustão.
Por compreenderem funções bastante específicas, estes anéis são constituídos em formas e materiais específicos e são desenvolvidos através de processos produtivos diferentes, que permitem a cada um deles cumprir com a maior eficiência e economia possível as suas respectivas funções.
No caso específico do segundo anel 2, quando este elemento é constituído de um material inadequado, diversos problemas podem ocorrer, tais como:
· Scuffing - que consiste no desprendimento de pequenas partículas do material constituinte do anel e a consequente fusão destas partícu-
las à face externa do pistão 4 e à face interna da camisa (não revelada nas figuras).
• Arranhamento (ou scratching) - que consiste na perda de material do anel através da abrasão que ocorre entre este elemento e a face in- terna da camisa.
• Desgaste radial - uma erosão provocada em uma porção radial da face externa do anel.
Na tentativa de evitar todos estes problemas que ocorrem no segundo anel 2 do estado da técnica, um dos materiais atualmente utilizados para dar forma a este anel é uma liga de Aço Cr-Si.
Contudo, mesmo quando são constituídos com este tipo de liga metálica, estes anéis de segunda cavidade (isto é segundo anéis 2) quando expostos a condições tribológicas críticas (alto atrito, pressão e temperatura) podem revelar os mesmos problemas citados acima, isto é: scuffíng; arranhamento e desgaste radial.
Quando este tipo de problema ocorre em um anel de primeira cavidade, o anel 1 , uma das soluções que o estado da técnica disponibiliza para resolver este problema é o endurecimento superficial deste anel 1 através de tratamentos como a nitretação.
A nitretação é um processo realizado com a finalidade de enrijecer a superfície externa do anel, diminuindo os referidos problemas de desgaste, e aumentando, consequentemente, sua longevidade.
Ocorre que, as ligas de Aço Cr-Si conhecidas e atualmente utilizadas fabricação do segundo anel 2, são inadequadas à submissão a um processo de nitretação. Isto porque, quando são submetidas a um processo de nitretação, os anéis constituídos com este tipo de liga revelam uma camada superficial nitretada fragilmente associada à estrutura cristalográfica do metal. Esta fragilidade na associação da camada superficial ao núcleo metálico do material pode acarretar em fenómenos como o destacamento desta camada superficial, que pode reduzir abruptamente a longevidade e eficiência no funcionamento do segundo anel 2.
Algumas técnicas anteriores foram desenvolvidas na tentativa de produzir uma liga metálica Aço Cr-Si, para um anel de pistão (aqui descrito em forma genérica, isto é um primeiro, segundo ou terceiro anel, 1 , 2 ou 3) que fosse receptiva à camada superficial nitretada.
Uma destas técnicas anteriores é revelada no documento US6485026, que desenvolveu a seguinte liga metálica para a aplicação em anéis de pistão:

Contudo, esta liga metálica (revelada na tabela , acima) não é suficientemente capaz de superar todos os problemas descritos nas linhas anteriores deste relatório, sobretudo quando esta liga é aplicada ao segundo anel de pistão 2.
Foi constatado experimentalmente, que a utilização de um segundo anel de pistão 2 constituído com a liga metálica revelada em US6485026, quando exposto a certas condições críticas de utilização, revela os mesmos proble- mas citados previamente neste relatório, isto é, scuffing, arranhamento e desgaste radial do segundo anel de pistão 2.
Assim, faz-se necessário o desenvolvimento de uma nova liga metálica, criada especificamente para utilização em anéis de pistão de segunda cavidade, que seja suficientemente compatível com o processo endurecimento por nitretação.
Objetivos da Invenção
A presente invenção tem por objetivo a provisão de um segundo anel de pistão que revele alta eficiência e durabilidade.
A presente invenção tem por objetivo também a provisão de um pistão automotivo dotado de um segundo anel de pistão tal como referenciado acima. Breve Descrição da Invenção
Os objetivos da presente invenção são alcançados por um segundo anel de pistão nitretado, que previamente ao tratamento de endurecimento por nitre- tação é constituído de uma liga metálica Aço Cr-Si que compreende a seguintes proporções em massa de Carbono, Silício e Cromo:
Carbono: entre 0,51 e 0,59%;
Silício: entre 1 ,20 e 1 ,60%; e
Cromo: entre 0,60 e 0,80%.
Os objetivos da presente invenção são alcançados também por um pistão automotivo, que compreende um segundo anel de pistão, tal como definido acima.
Descrição Resumida dos Desenhos

Descrição Detalhada das Figuras
A presente invenção refere-se a um segundo anel 2 de pistão e um pistão 4 dotado do segundo anel 2 de pistão da presente invenção.
Como previamente citado neste relatório, um processo de endurecimento por nitretação poderia ampliar a resistência e longevidade alcançada por um segundo anel de pistão. Contudo, um dos grandes problemas dos segundo anéis de Aço Cr-Si do estado da técnica diz respeito ao fato de que a liga destes materiais é inadequada à submissão a um tratamento de nitretação. Assim, fez-se necessário o desenvolvimento de uma nova liga de Aço Cr-Si compatível com os processos de tratamento superficial por nitretação.
Constatou-se experimentalmente, que a liga metálica mais adequada à constituição do segundo anel 2 de pistão deve apresentar a seguinte composição química previamente à exposição pelo tratamento de nitretação:

Note-se que, os percentuais em massa da tabela acima estão definidos com base no peso do material previamente à exposição ao tratamento de nitretação. Esta informação é importante, se levarmos em consideração as pequenas variações percentuais em massa que podem ocorrer após a etapa de nitretação devido à inserção do elemento N em meio à estrutura cristalográfica do metal.
A composição química revelada na tabela 2 é suficientemente capaz de atribuir um alto grau de adesão entre a camada externa 7 nitretada e o núcleo 6 do material do segundo anel 2. Esta adesão intercamadas pode ser constatada experimentalmente, por exemplo, através da micrografia revelada na figura 3.
A figura 3 revela uma micrografia de uma seção transversal do segundo anel 2 da presente invenção (que revela a mesma composição química descrita na tabela 2) após decorrido o processo de endurecimento superficial por ni- tretação. Através da figura 3 é possível perceber que a liga metálica desen- volvida para a presente invenção possibilita uma alta absorção do nitrogénio proveniente do processo de nitretação. Esta alta absorção pode ser constatada através da espessa zona de difusão 5 revelada nesta figura, que corresponde a 100 pm.
Note-se que, quanto mais espessa a zona de difusão 5, maior a adesão en- tre a camada superficial mais externa 7, (a camada nitretada) e o núcleo 6 do material. Neste sentido, a título de comparação, sabe-se, por exemplo, que uma zona de difusão de aproximadamente 30 pm revelada em anéis automotivos de outras técnicas anteriores, pode ser considerada de espessura razoável quando se deseja garantir eficiência e durabilidade a um anel de pistão.
Outra prova da compatibilidade da liga metálica desenvolvida para a presente invenção com o processo de nitretação, pode ser aferida através do gráfico da figura 2. O gráfico da figura 2 revela uma transição gradual na dureza do material do segundo anel 2 quando analisado desde sua camada radial mais externa 7 em direção ao núcleo 6 desta peça.
Note-se, neste ponto, que quando mais suave a curva de transição de dureza do material, maior a sua resistência ao desgaste. Isto porque, quando esta curva de transição é abrupta, isto é, quando o nível de dureza comuta abruptamente de uma determinada profundidade para uma profundidade sub- sequente, defini-se uma linha divisória bastante nítida entre as propriedades físico-químicas encontradas no material da face mais externa 7 e as propriedades físico-químicas do material do núcleo 6. Cabe mencionar aqui, que apesar de o gráfico da figura 2 revelar apenas a variação de dureza deste material, outras características variam gradativamente conforme a profundi- dade da peça, tais como, coeficiente de dilatação, resistência mecânica, condutibilidade térmica, entre outros.
A heterogeneidade entre as características da camada mais externa 7 quando comparadas ao núcleo 6, pode levar ao surgimento de trincas e pontos de ruptura nesta interface entre núcleo 6 e camada mais externa 7. Por isto, subentende-se que, quanto maior a espessura da zona de difusão 5, mais suave será a curva de dureza e mais resistente ao desgaste será o segundo anel 2.
Não obstante os dados revelados até este ponto, o presente relatório revela em sua figura de número 4, um gráfico da percepção visual de desgaste do segundo anel 2 da presente invenção em comparação a um anel do estado da técnica após realizados testes de durabilidade e desgaste nestas peças.
Note-se que, após decorridos os testes de durabilidade e desgaste, o segundo anel de pistão do estado da técnica - um anel constituído de liga Aço Cr-Si não submetido a um processo de nitretação - perde aproximadamente o dobro de material metálico através de desgaste (scuffing; arranhamento e desgaste radial) quando comparado ao anel de pistão 2 da presente invenção.
Para alcançar um resultado tão eficiente em termos de resistên- cia/durabilidade, o segundo anel 2 revela um coeficiente de dureza em sua superfície mais externa 7, de 610 HV, o que corresponde a um número 30% maior que o coeficiente de dureza do anel Aço Cr-Si do estado da técnica. Tendo sido descrito em detalhes um exemplo da configuração preferencial da presente invenção, passa-se a seguir a uma descrição de algumas formas alternativas de concretização desta tecnologia.
De modo geral, os elementos químicos que mais contribuem à eficiência da liga metálica do segundo anel 2 da presente invenção, são: Cr (cromo), Si (silício) e C (carbono). Assim, os parâmetros mais importantes da liga definida na presente invenção são:

As porcentagens dos demais elementos citados na tabela 2 deste relatório, Mn, P, S e Cu constituem parâmetros adicionais, que devem ser considerados acessórios, porém não limitantes à presente invenção.
Tendo sido revelada a presente invenção em sua configuração preferencial e suas configurações alternativas, cabe ressaltar que o escopo de proteção desta invenção constitui não apenas um segundo anel 2 de pistão constituído da liga Aço Cr-Si definida neste relatório, mas também compreende um pistão 4 automotivo dotado de um segundo anel 2 com as características definidas neste relatório.
Por fim, cumpre notar que, o escopo de proteção da presente invenção abrange outras possíveis variações - além daquelas variações objetivamen- te descritas neste relatório - sendo este escopo limitado tão somente pelo teor das reivindicações apensas, aí incluídos os possíveis equivalentes.
Claims
1. Segundo anel de pistão (2) nitretado, caracterizado pelo fato de que, previamente ao tratamento de endurecimento por nitretação, é constituído de uma liga metálica Aço Cr-Si que compreende as seguintes propor- ções em massa de Carbono, Silício e Cromo:
Carbono: entre 0,51 e 0,59%;
Silício: entre 1 ,20 e 1 ,60%; e
Cromo: entre 0,60 e 0,80%.
2. Segundo anel de pistão (2) nitretado, de acordo com a reivin- dicação 1 , caracterizado pelo fato de que, previamente ao tratamento de endurecimento por nitretação, é constituído de uma liga metálica Aço Cr-Si que compreende a seguintes proporções em massa de manganês, fósforo, enxofre e cobre:
Manganês: entre 0,60 e 0,80%;
Fósforo: entre 0,00 e 0,03%;
Enxofre: entre 0,00 e 0,25%; e
Cobre: entre 0,00 e 0,12%.
3. Segundo anel de pistão (2) nitretado, de acordo com a reivindicação 1 , caracterizado pelo fato de que, apresenta uma zona de difusão (5) disposta entre a camada mais externa (7) e o núcleo (6) de 100 pm de espessura.
4. Segundo anel de pistão (2) nitretado, de acordo com a reivindicação 1 , caracterizado pelo fato de que, apresenta uma dureza em sua superfície mais externa (7) de 610 HV.
5. Pistão automotivo (4), caracterizado pelo fato de que compreende um segundo anel de pistão (2), tal como definido na reivindicação 1.
