  • the present invention relates to a household appliance having no sophisticated control interface and which can be controlled in a more intuitive manner by radio communication.
  • Household appliances such as for instance rotary machines, i.e. laundry treatment machines or refrigerators and so on do conventionally have control interfaces with buttons and knobs having limited specific functions. These machines are therefore less intuitive to allow users to perform certain actions such as entering textual inputs, compared to TV sets or other appliances which may have remote controls capable of simulating such functions with physical keys or at least navigation arrows to select on-screen signs. In other words, it is more difficult for household appliances such as washing and/or drying machines, dishwashers and to some extent refrigerators to fulfill these tasks, particularly if those are in the category of relatively low-budget products.

  • washing machines can continue to operate even in the case no proper amount of detergent is used, an indication in this effect can be continuously provided during the process and a respective intervention by the user will accordingly produce a significantly better washing performance.
  • an indication LED can light up yellow or red depending on the situation. For instance, when the user is expected to set a program parameter or carry out a certain required action, the indication LED can light up red, upon which the user can approach his/her portable terminal to the NFC module of the appliance to set the required setting or learn about the situation. On the other hand, the indication LED can light up yellow at a time if only updated information is available, only for informational purposes. For example, a yellow indication might reveal that only a final drying cycle is to be performed and the overall procedure is expected to be terminated in a certain time duration. It is to be noted that the operational status of the appliance can also be monitored on the mobile application by viewing preloaded information. However, the real operational status of the appliance may involve different information from the preloaded information provided on the mobile application.
  • the present invention proposes a method of operating an electrical household appliance, said appliance comprising a NFC module and being capable of executing a plurality of programs in association with the principal function of the same, said method of operating an electrical household appliance comprising the steps of connecting to the appliance by a portable terminal through near-field communication, performing a set of system operation functions on a mobile application running on said portable terminal and transmitting the specified set of actions to the appliance through near-field communication by approaching the portable terminal to the NFC module of said appliance.

If the indication means is a visual indication means as in the case of an LED, the LED goes out if the portable terminal is approached to the NFC module.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé d'actionnement d'un appareil électroménager, ledit appareil comprenant un module NFC (communication en champ proche) et pouvant exécuter une pluralité de programmes en association avec la fonction principale de ce dernier, ledit procédé d'actionnement d'un appareil électroménager comprenant les étapes consistant à se raccorder à l'appareil par un terminal portable par l'intermédiaire d'une communication en champ proche, à exécuter un ensemble de fonctions d'actionnement du système sur une application mobile s'exécutant sur ledit terminal portable, et à transmettre l'ensemble spécifié d'actions à l'appareil par l'intermédiaire d'une communication en champ proche en approchant le terminal portable du module NFC dudit appareil.
