Abstract

The device for clamping a profile, such as a skirting board, for example, against a wall comprises a linking part (2B) and a clamping part (1) that is movable relative to the linking part, in such a way as to allow the profile (P) to be clamped between the wall (M) and said clamping part (1). The linking part (2B) comprises attachment means (203) that are positioned at one end of a thin (e) portion (201), and that allow the linking part (2B) to be attached to the edge of a floor covering adjacent to the wall. DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CLAMPING A PROFILE AGAINST A WALL, AND THEIR IMPLEMENTATION FOR FIXING, AND IN PARTICULAR

The present invention relates to the field of laying a profile on a wall adjacent to the edge of a coating, in particular by bonding the profile, and with covering by the edge profile of said coating. In this field, the subject of the invention is a device and a method for temporarily clamping a profile against a wall that adjoins the edge of a coating, in order to maintain and fix the profile on the wall, particularly during setting. glue. The profile is for example a finishing profile, such as a plinth or quarter round, placed between a vertical wall and a floor covering, or a finishing profile, such as a cornice, placed between a ceiling and a covering wall, or a finishing profile, such as a vertical corner strip, placed between a first vertical wall and the wall covering of another vertical wall transverse to said first wall.

Prior art

It is customary to fix decorative baseboards on a wall, such as a wall or a partition, in order to achieve an aesthetic transition between said wall and a floor covering, such as a carpet or a floor, whose edge adjoins the wall. Generally, the flooring adjoins the wall without touching it, with a small space, if any, for expansion of the floor covering between the wall and the edge of the floor covering. Once the plinth is fixed against the wall, this expansion space is hidden by the plinth. The skirting board is also fixed in height on the wall so that it rests on the floor covering or on the edge of the floor covering by creating, between the surface of the floor covering and the plinth, a residual gap which is generally of small width.

It is also customary to fix other finishing profiles on a wall, such as for example a cornice placed between a ceiling and a ceiling. wall covering, or a corner strip placed between a first vertical wall and the wall covering of another vertical wall transverse to said first wall.

When the finishing profile is to be fixed to the wall by gluing, it is necessary, during the installation, to temporarily hold the profile against the wall by continuously applying pressure to the profile for a period of time necessary in order to allow time for the glue to take and securely fix the profile.

This pressure can be exerted manually by the installer during the setting time of the glue. But this operation makes the installation tedious for the installer and increases the exposure time, the installer is not available to paste another profile during the setting time of the glue. Where applicable, in the case of a skirting-type finish profile placed between a vertical wall and a floor covering, the installer may use various means such as heavy objects to exert the required pressure, but this implementation is tedious and impractical. Also, the installer can temporarily nail the profile on the wall to hold it against the wall. But the use of nails damages the aesthetics of the profile. In addition, once the profile is pressed against the wall, if we remove the nails, we are forced to reseal the holes caused in the profile by the nails.

Objective of the invention

The main object of the invention is to propose a new technical solution for temporary clamping of a profile against a wall, which makes it possible to simplify the fixing, in particular by gluing, of the profile against a wall, and which advantageously allows the installer to avoid having to maintain the profile manually while attaching the profile, or avoid using various means such as heavy objects to maintain the profile, or avoid having to nail the profile.

Summary of the invention

The invention thus has for its first object a device for clamping a profile against a wall, said device comprising a connecting piece and a clamping piece, which is movable relative to the connecting piece, so as to allow clamping of the profile between the wall and said clamping piece; said connecting piece comprises a portion of small thickness and hooking means, which are positioned at one end of said thin portion, and which allow attachment of the connecting piece on the edge of a coating which abuts Wall ; said connecting piece and said clamping piece are designed to be assembled together in a plurality of different clamping positions; the clamping piece is adapted to be locked in translation relative to the connecting piece, in each of the clamping positions, and in a blocking direction oriented opposite the hooking means; each clamping position is characterized by a spacing between the clamping piece and the fastening means of the connecting piece (which is different for each clamping position.

More particularly, the device of the invention may comprise the additional and optional features hereafter, taken separately or in combination with each other, and defined respectively in claims 2 to 15.

The invention also relates to a method of clamping a profile against a wall, by means of a device referred to above, said wall adjacent the edge of a coating, said method comprising the following successive steps:

(a) hooking the attachment means of the liaiso piece on the edge of the coating;

(b) positioning the profile against the wall, so that the thin portion (e) of the connecting piece is positioned between the profile and the coating, the profile preferably being in contact with said portion (201) thin; (c) assembling the clamping piece with the connecting piece and moving the clamping piece with respect to the connecting piece in the direction of the profile, into a clamping position in which the clamping piece is in contact with the profile , and the profile is clamped between the wall and the clamping piece.

More particularly, the method of the invention may comprise the following additional and optional features, taken alone or in combination with each other, and defined respectively in claims 17 to 25.

The invention also relates to the use of the aforementioned clamping device for clamping a profile against a wall adjacent to the edge of a floor covering.

In the particular variant of FIG. 1, the kit for clamping a finishing profile against a wall comprises a clamping piece 1 and two connecting pieces 2A, 2B, the clamping piece 1 being able to be slipped and slid on each piece link 2A or 2B.

Each connecting piece 2A, 2B is more particularly constituted by a tongue 20, for example made of plastic, comprising a main portion 200, which ends at a first front end with a tongue portion 201 of small thickness e. This tongue portion 20a thin e is extended by a hook 202.

In this variant, but not limited to the invention, the tongue portion 201 of very small thickness is connected to the main portion 200 of the tongue 20 by a recess 201 has, so that the tongue portion 201 of thin is aligned with the main portion 200 of the tongue 20, but being positioned in a lower plane. This recess 201a makes it possible to raise the main part 200 with respect to the hook 203, and thus to facilitate the gripping of this main part 200 of the tongue by the baseboard installer. In the variant of Figure 1, in order to save material, the connecting piece 2A or 2B is a tongue of small width I, and the thickness of the main portion 200 is small. In another variant, the connecting piece 2A or 2B could be wider and / or the main part 200 could have a different geometry, and in particular be thicker.

The main part 200 of each connecting piece 2A or 2B has a portion 200a adapted to allow blocking unidirectional of the clamping piece 1 in different clamping positions. This locking portion 200a comprises a plurality of inclined locking slots 200b, which are formed in the upper face of the main part 200.

The connecting piece 2A differs from the connecting piece 2B by the geometry of its hook 203.

The hook 203 of the connecting piece 2A has an L-shaped profile, and is adapted to hang the connecting piece 2A on the edge of a rigid floor covering, such as for example parquet or tiling. The hook 203 of the connecting piece 2B has a U-shaped profile, and is adapted to hang the connecting piece 2B on the edge of a thinner and non-rigid coating, for example carpet-type or also paneling blades so keep the connecting piece on the edge during installation.

The clamping piece 1 comprises in the lower part a through hole 10 allowing it to thread onto the main part 200 of a connecting piece 2A or 2B, and a U-shaped part 1 1 (FIGS. 6 and 7) whose function is to guide in translation the clamping piece 1 relative to the main part 200 of the connecting piece 2A or 2B on which the clamping piece 1 is threaded.

The clamping piece 1 also comprises in the upper part a part

In the variant of Figure 1, this clamping stop 12 forms a recess 12a towards the front of the clamping piece relative to the wall of the clamping piece 1 in which is formed the through hole 10. As it will appear more clearly later, this recess 12a facilitates the final cut of the connecting piece 1 at the end of laying. This step 12a is however optional.

With reference to FIG. 2, the clamping piece 1 can be threaded onto the main part 200 of the connecting piece 2B (or 2A) by introducing, into the through orifice 10 of the clamping piece 1, the free end back

Once threaded onto the connecting piece 2A or 2B, the clamping piece 1 has a single degree of freedom with respect to the connecting piece 2A or 2B allowing it to slide relative to the connecting piece.

With reference to FIG. 3, the clamping piece 1 comprises a locking stop 13, which cooperates with the locking notches 200b of the notched part 200a of the connecting piece 2B (or 2A), so as to lock in translation the clamping piece 1 relative to the connecting piece 2B (or 2A) preventing it from sliding backwards in the direction D facing away from the front hook 203, and without hindering the sliding of the piece of tightening 1 forward in the tightening direction E (towards the front hook 203).

The locking notches 200b thus make it possible to define different clamping positions of the clamping piece 1 with respect to the connecting piece 2B (or 2A), each clamping position being characterized by a gap EC (FIG. 3) between the clamping piece. 1 and the attachment means 203 of the connecting piece which is different for each clamping position.

The clamping piece 1 and the connecting pieces 2A and 2B can advantageously be manufactured in large series and at low cost, for example by plastic injection.

Before placing the skirting board on the wall M, the hook 203 of the connecting piece 2A (or 2B) is hooked onto the edge B of the floor covering R, by positioning it in the expansion space 3 (FIGS. 10 and 1 1) provided between the wall M and the floor covering R. The constituent material of the skirting P is of no importance for the invention, the skirting P can indifferently be made in different materials. It may be, for example, and in a non-limiting and non-exhaustive manner, a solid wood plinth, an MDF plinth to be painted or partially covered with a single-layer or multilayer decorative coating, plastic film type or melamine paper, a PVC plastic baseboard, or a tile baseboard.

In this clamping position, the clamping piece 1 is locked in translation, in the opposite direction D, by the locking stop 13 cooperating with one of the locking notches 200b of the connecting piece, and thanks to the traction exerted on the clamping piece 1 by the edge B of the floor covering R in the clamping direction E, the baseboard P is clamped between the wall M and the clamping stopper 12 of the clamping piece 1.

The installer therefore does not need to manually press the skirting P to keep it pressed against the wall M during the glue setting time, and can thus advantageously perform other tasks, including continuing the installation of the other skirting boards in the same way, without having to wait for the end of the glue setting time. In the accompanying figures, using a single clamping piece 1 and a single connecting piece 2A or 2B. Of course, depending on the length of the skirting P, it will be possible to implement several pairs of clamping piece 1 and connecting piece 2A or 2B judiciously spaced and distributed along the skirting P.

Once the glue setting time is over, and the skirting P is fixed by sticking reliably to the wall M, is cut, for example by means of a blade L of cutter, the portion 201 of low thickness of the connecting piece 2A or 2B, either closer to the lower edge of the baseboard P or in the gap created between the lower edge of the baseboard P and the floor covering R, so as to separate the hook 203 from the rest of the connecting piece 2A or 2B. The recess 12a of the clamping piece 1 facilitates the passage of the cutting blade L under the clamping stopper 12.

Figure 9 Once this cut is made, the hook 203 and a small portion of the thin portion 201 are lost and remain in position or are pushed behind the skirting P with a cutter blade tip, while the piece 1 and the cut connecting piece 2A or 2B are removed.

Since the portion 201 of the connecting piece 2A or 2B has been positioned under the skirting P during installation, it is preferable that the thickness e of this portion 201 be as low as possible without, however, compromising the integrity mechanical portion 201 during tightening, so that there remains between the skirting P and the floor covering R as small a gap as possible.

In practice, it is possible to make a plastic connecting piece 2A or 2B, the thickness e of the portion 201 is between 0.5mm and 0.1 mm. It should be noted here that this portion 201 of small thickness does not need to be rigid and can be flexible or flexible, and must be able to withstand the tightening tension without breaking.

The connecting piece 2A or 2B that has been used is a disposable consumable, while the clamping piece 1 can possibly be reused.

FIGS. 12 and 13 show another variant of clamping piece V that can be slidably mounted on another variant of connecting piece 2C without locking catches. FIG. 14 shows another variant of a clamping kit of the invention comprising a clamping piece 1 "that can be slidably mounted on a 2D connection piece, in a manner similar to the clamping piece 1 and to the connecting pieces 2A, and 2B.

The invention is not limited to the embodiments and implementations of the appended figures. The invention is not limited to the clamping of a plinth placed between a vertical wall and a floor covering adjacent the vertical wall, but extends to the clamping of any type of profile against a wall adjacent the edge of a coating . Use of the clamping device according to any one of claims 1 to 15 for clamping a profile (P) against a wall (M) adjacent the edge (B) of a coating (R).

Use according to claim 25, wherein the wall (M) is vertical, the coating (R) is a floor covering, and the profile (P) is a finishing profile, such as a plinth or quarter round or in which the wall (M) is a ceiling, the coating (R) is a wall covering, and the profile (P) is a finishing profile, such as a cornice, or in which the wall (M) is vertical, the coating (R) is a wall covering placed on a vertical wall transverse to the other wall (M), and the profile (P) is a finishing profile, such as a vertical corner rod.
