Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a tray or similar container comprising a sheet or panel, folded and glued, which defines, in a configuration of use:
  • said panel has a second set of folding lines arranged parallel to one another in a direction transverse to said first and second walls and configured for identifying at least one first strip and one second strip of said panel that are adjacent to one another, and at least one third strip and one fourth strip, which are connected to said first and second strips, respectively, and
  • said first and second strips are raised with respect to said third and fourth strips so that said first and second strips form said partition and said third and fourth strips form said base or parts thereof.
  • a tray of the type referred to above is, for example, described in the U.S. patent No. US3876132. These trays are characterized in that they are provided with one or more dividers or partitions designed to identify a series of compartments via which it is possible to order a series of products, objects, on the tray. These trays may, for example, constitute proper packages on which the products are arranged according to an appropriate display mode.
  • the trays of the type in question are delivered to the sites in which they will be filled with the products (for example, the production plant or else the centre for sale of the products), in the condition where they are already folded and glued to enable their immediate use.
  • This circumstance poses, however, the problem of reducing as much as possible the encumbrance of the trays when they are stacked on top of one another in order to be able to store the largest number possible of them within a single box.
  • the U.S. patent No. US3876132 referred to above attempts to solve this problem by making the walls of the trays inclined with respect to one another in a way converging towards their base so as to be able to nest them into one another, in a condition of reduced encumbrance .
  • the object of the present invention is to solve the problem mentioned above in an even more effective way, via a tray having the characteristics recalled in Claim 1.
  • the tray described herein already folded and glued, can, in fact, be set in a flattened condition of minimal encumbrance .
  • FIG. 3 illustrates an axonometric view from above of the tray obtained with the sheet of Figure 1, in the flattened configuration of minimal encumbrance;
  • FIG. 4 to 8 illustrate the tray of Figure 3 in successive steps of its transformation from the configuration of minimal encumbrance of Figure 3 to the configuration of use;
  • FIGS 11 and 12 illustrate a second embodiment of the tray described herein in its condition of use and in its flattened condition, respectively.
  • a tray made of a sheet material, for example a sheet of dinked cardboard or paperboard .
  • the tray 10 comprises a sheet or panel 1 folded and glued so as to define, in the configuration of use of the tray, illustrated in Figure 9, a base 2, a series of walls or sides 4, 6, 8, 12, and two dividers or partitions 14, 16, which are carried by the base 2 and extend from a region in the proximity of the wall 12 up to a region in the proximity of the opposite wall 6.
  • Figure 1 illustrates the sheet 1 in a condition of complete plane development thereof.
  • the sheet 1 has a central region, preferably rectangular in shape, which, in the configuration of use of the tray, comes to define the base 2 and the partitions 14 and 16.
  • the walls 4, 6, 8, 12 are rotatably connected to the central region via a first set of folding lines, in particular the folding lines 51, 53, 55, 57.
  • the walls 12 and 16 have respective foldable tabs 12', 6', via which the walls 12 and 6 are glued to the walls 8 and 4.
  • the points of gluing are designated by the letters A, B, C, D, which repeat for the pairs of points that are brought into contact with one another during assembly of the tray.
  • Assembly of the tray 10 simply involves folding the walls 4, 6, 8, and 12 and gluing together the corresponding points A, B, C, D.
  • the sheet 1 has a second set of folding lines, in particular the folding lines 61, 63, 65, 67, 69, 71, which are arranged parallel to one another in a direction transverse to the walls 12, 6, and identify the strips 18, 22, 24, 26, 28, 32, 34.
  • the strips 22, 24 and the strips 28, 32 are raised with respect to the strips 18, 26, 34 according to a substantially vertical orientation, in which are in contact with one another two by two, defining the two partitions 16 and 14, respectively.
  • the strips 18, 26, 34 instead define, as a whole, the base 2; in this connection, it should be noted that the sum of the respective widths of the strips 18, 26 and 34 corresponds substantially to the extension of the base in the direction transverse to the partitions 14 and 16.
  • one or more sheets 11 may be associated to the tray 10, one of which, illustrated in Figure 2, is to be mounted on the partitions 14 and 16, oriented in a direction transverse to these, to form a further partition of the tray, transverse to the partitions 14 and 16.
  • the sheet 11 is folded on itself along a folding line 11', which divides it in a symmetrical way.
  • the partitions 14 and 16 and/or the sheet 11 have slits 13 designed to enable interpenetration between the partitions 14 and 16 and the sheet 11, so that these form as a whole a sort of grid that divides the base 2 into compartments.
  • the sheet 11 constitutes in any case an altogether accessory and non-essential element .
  • the tray described herein, already folded and glued in the way referred to above it may be set in a flattened configuration of minimal encumbrance.
  • this configuration envisages that the strips forming the partitions of the tray are splayed out in one and the same plane and, at the same time, that the walls of the tray are folded against the series of said strips.
  • the sheet 1 has a third set of folding lines, in particular the folding lines 73, 75, 77, 79, which traverse the opposite walls 4, 8 in a respective inclined direction such that, by folding the walls 8 and 4 along said lines, there is obtained, at the same time, rotation of all the walls 12, 4, 6, 8 towards the base 2 about the first set of folding lines; moreover, the end edges of the strips 18, 22, 24, 28, 32, 34 are mobile with respect to the opposite walls 12 and 16 so as to enable a relative rotation between the strips in question and said walls.
  • the strip 26 has instead its own end edges connected to the walls 6 and 12 via the folding lines 57 and 53.
  • the folding lines 73, 75, 77, 79 extend on the respective walls 4 and 8 in directions transverse to the folding lines 55 and 51 and identify the portions A, B, C, D of the walls 4 and 8, which are rotatable with respect to the remaining parts of these walls about the aforesaid folding lines. It may be noted that the portions A, B, C, D correspond to the points of gluing of the walls 4 and 8 to the tabs 12', 6' .
  • Figure 3 illustrates the tray 10 in the flattened configuration.
  • the strips 22, 24, 28, 32 all lie in one and the same plane
  • the walls 4, 8 and the strips 18, 34 also lie in one and the same plane, in contact with the series of strips 22, 24, 28, 32, and, finally, the walls 6 and 12 are folded against the walls 4 and 8.
  • the tray 10 can hence be assembled starting from the sheet 1, by folding and gluing together the walls 4, 6, 8, 12, and can then be stored in the flattened configuration illustrated in Figure 3. At the moment of its use, it can instead be transformed into its configuration of use in a simple and fast way, as described hereinafter with reference to Figures 3 to 9.
  • Transformation of the tray 10 from the flattened configuration of Figure 3 to that of use of Figures 9 and 10, envisages the following steps:
  • the tray 10 comprises a single partition 14.
  • the folding lines of the second set (the lines 61, 63, and 65) are in a number such as to identify four strips, a first one and a second one of which (in the figures just the first strip 22 may be seen) define, in the condition of use of the tray, the aforesaid partition, and the third and fourth strips (the strips 18 and 26) define, instead, the base of the tray.
  • the main characteristics of this embodiment are in any case the same as the ones described above with reference to the embodiment illustrated in Figures 1 to 10.
  • the sheet of the tray has a third set of folding lines (not visible) of the same type as that referred to above, and the end edges of the first and second strips and of the third strip or fourth strip, are mobile with respect to the opposite walls 12, 6 of the tray, transverse to said strips, so as to enable a relative rotation of the strips about the folding lines of the second set and with respect to said walls.
  • the remaining strip (the fourth strip or the third strip) has, instead, its own end edges connected to the aforesaid opposite walls, via the corresponding two opposed folding lines of the first set (of which just the line 57 may be seen) .
  • the strips forming the partition 14 are splayed out in one and the same plane and, at the same time, the walls 12, 4, 8, 6 of the tray are folded against the series of the strips identified by the second set of folding lines.
  • the wall side 4 is turned upwards with respect to the strip 26, about the line 51 of the first set of folding lines.
