Definitions
- the invention relates to a product securing element for securing a product to be protected.
- the invention further relates to a method for producing such a product securing element and a product securing arrangement with such a product securing element.
- security documents such as banknotes, shares, identity cards, credit cards, certificates and the like with security elements which make it possible to check the authenticity of the value documents and at the same time serve as protection against unauthorized reproduction.
- To increase the protection against counterfeiting costly processes using a large number of different printing processes are often used for the production of such security elements.
- the object of the invention is to specify a product securing element which combines cost-effective production with high counterfeit protection.
- the magnetically alignable effect pigments used are essentially freely rotatable in their microcapsules, they can be aligned interactively in the form of a motif to be displayed by an external magnetic field during the authenticity check. Without external magnetic field, the effect pigments are substantially isotropically aligned within their microcapsule, so that the authenticity mark generally gives a homogeneous image impression.
- the visual appearance of the authenticity mark changes interactively in the area above the magnet due to the orientation of the effect pigments and displays an effective, three-dimensional appearing appearance.
- the concretely visible image results in each case from the locally different orientation of the effect pigments in the microcapsules in the spatially varying field of the test magnet and can be determined by the user by a movement of the product safety device. elements or the test magnet are interactively changed. If the product securing element is removed again from the test magnet, the magnetically oriented effect pigments, due to their mobility within the capsule shell, relax after some time into the essentially isotropic initial state.
- the change in the visual appearance which represents the above-mentioned visually recognizable change of image, is thus triggered interactively and is completely reversible.
- the change in appearance may be hidden to the human eye by appropriate means, but may be detectable by machine, for example, with an optical detection unit sensitive to the infrared or ultraviolet spectral range.
- the change of appearance then represents a machine recognizable image change.
- the product securing element contains a substrate into which the microcapsules with the reversibly magnetically alignable effect pigments are introduced, and / or onto which the microcapsules with the reversibly magnetically alignable effect pigments are applied.
- the substrate is preferably provided with an adhesive layer for applying the product securing element to the product to be protected.
- the adhesive layer may also contain microcapsules with reversibly magnetically alignable pigments.
- the substrate contains a plastic film, in the volume of which the microcapsules with the reversibly magnetically alignable effect pigments have already been introduced during the production of the plastic film.
- the plastic film contains microcapsules with a mean diameter d 9 5 below 20 ⁇ .
- the microcapsules may be present in a proportion of from 5% to 45%, preferably from 10% to 25%, by weight in the plastic film.
- the microcapsules can be present in the entire volume of the plastic film, but with particular advantage the microcapsules are introduced by coextrusion only in partial areas of the plastic film. This is particularly economical and flexible, since the microcapsules must then be applied only in the required parts.
- the substrate is a multilayer laminated composite in which at least one sub-layer of the laminating composite has the microcapsules with the reversibly magnetically alignable effect pigments.
- the microcapsules are introduced into the substrate of the product securing element and that the substrate is printed in first, a magnetic effect-facing portions with translucent printing inks, in particular with glazing vivid colors, and is printed in second, no magnetic effect showing portions with opaque inks.
- the color impression of the pigments can be specifically influenced and changed.
- the overprinting with opaque inks allows to hide the magnetic effect in some areas in front of the viewer. As explained in more detail elsewhere, however, the magnetic effect in these areas can still be detectable by machine, for example by overprinting of the microcapsules with an ink which is opaque in the visible spectral range but largely transparent in the near infrared.
- the microcapsules with the reversibly magnetically alignable effect pigments are present in a printed layer applied to the substrate.
- the microcapsules can be present in the printing layer together with colored pigments and / or with optically variable effect pigments, which are preferably non-magnetic and / or transparent or translucent.
- the optically variable effect pigments may in particular be liquid-crystal pigments, pearlescent pigments or interference-layer pigments.
- the interactively triggerable authenticity mark is overprinted according to a further preferred embodiment with at least one print layer of a translucent printing ink in order to adapt the color impression of the reversibly magnetically alignable pigments to a predetermined color impression.
- the product securing element further includes a dark background layer for the interactive triggerable authentication mark. Due to the dark background layer, the effect of the reversibly magnetically orientable pigments is particularly pronounced.
- the dark background layer can be formed over the entire surface or in the form of patterns, characters or a coding.
- the product securing element contains a hard or soft-magnetic functional structure in a subregion.
- the magnetic functional structure can be formed for example by the magnetic strip of a ticket, a bank card or credit card.
- Some design articles also have magnetic or magnetizable applications, such as rivets, clips or special closures, which can form the magnetic functional structure of the product securing element.
- a magnetic functional structure can also be selectively introduced into the product securing element only for the purpose, in order to specify an internal magnetic field or an increased magnetizability there.
- the magnetic effect of the reversibly magnetically alignable pigments results from a superposition of the field generated by the magnetic functional structure with a magnetic field applied during the authenticity check from the outside.
- the interactively triggerable authenticity indicator does not necessarily have to be visible to the human eye. Rather, the interactively triggerable authenticity mark can also be hidden under a layer which absorbs in the visible spectral range and is substantially transparent in the ultraviolet and / or infrared spectral range. The characteristic magnetic effect can then be detected only with an optical detection unit which is sensitive to the ultraviolet or infrared spectral range.
- the product securing element is a brand protection label, preferably with a peel-off indicator.
- Trademark protection labels may be applied, in particular, to branded articles, food packaging or other product packaging, electronics products with a high risk of counterfeiting, such as batteries, wristwatches, mobile phones and the like, to data carriers with a risk of counterfeiting, such as CDs, DVDs or BluRay media, or they may be used as visa stickers for immigration authorities, as a seal of approval for alcohol, cigarettes and the like, as labels for pharmaceutical products, as seals for sovereign documents, such as tax stamps, documents and the like, or as a secure device and nameplates.
- the product securing element is a thermoformed plastic film, in particular a blister terverpackung for tablets or capsules, or a molded part of a branded article, such as mobile phone shells or other housing parts.
- the product protection element can also be used as a raw material for thermoforming or other thermoforming processes, or as a raw material for masterbatch production, for injection molded parts or the plastic coating of textiles, CDs, DVDs or BluRay media.
- the product securing element is a plastic film in a plastic card, such as a prepaid card, ID card, credit card or the like, or in a value document, for example in the form of an intermediate layer of a passport data page in a passport.
- the product securing element can advantageously also be used on paper, cardboard or laminated and laminated hybrid substrates, for example in the case of tickets and entrance tickets, value checks, passport paper, passport pages or transport papers.
- the product securing element can be produced by direct printing of a desired substrate, for example in the form of a seal or tamper-evident closure, in particular for bottles or boxes, or in the decoration of branded articles such as bags, leather goods and the like.
- the product securing element can also be part of adhesives that are applied to the product to be protected.
- the invention further includes a method for producing a product securing element, wherein the method microcapsules are provided in which by an external magnetic field reversibly alignable effect pigments are encapsulated, which are substantially freely rotatable in the microcapsules.
- the microcapsules with the reversibly magnetically alignable effect pigments are introduced into a substrate or are applied to a substrate, whereby an interactively triggerable authenticity mark is generated, which exhibits a visually and / or machine-recognizable image change during interactive triggering by an external magnetic field.
- the invention further includes a product securing arrangement for securing a product to be protected with a product securing element of the type described above and having a verification element with a magnetic region, wherein preferably in the magnetic region magnetic material in the form of patterns, lines, characters or a coding is present.
- the magnetic region may be formed by a permanent magnet of a portable or stationary device, in particular a mobile telephone, a portable computer, a portable audio and / or video player, a security system, in particular an electronic device.
- the verification element can also be an adapted testing device, for example a test pin with a magnetic tip, which, as described in more detail below, makes reliable verification of the authenticity of even thick objects possible.
- the product securing elements according to the invention can be produced at lower cost and at lower cost than conventional security elements for banknotes and the like, and are therefore economically viable even for only short-term or single use.
