Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé de valorisation du pétrole comprenant les étapes consistant éventuellement à prétraiter un pétrole lourd contenant au moins un gaz dissous, des asphaltènes, de l'eau et des particules minérales solides ; à réduire au moins la teneur en gaz dissous dans ledit pétrole lourd et, éventuellement, à réduire encore la teneur en eau dudit pétrole lourd ; à ajouter un solvant paraffinique audit pétrole lourd, selon un rapport solvant paraffinique/pétrole lourd prédéterminé, à faciliter la séparation des asphaltènes, de l'eau et des particules minérales solides, du pétrole lourd, avec pour résultat l'obtention d'un flux pétrole désasphalté ou partiellement désasphalté (DAO)-solvant paraffinique, comprenant un flux DAO-solvant paraffinique à faible teneur en asphaltènes et un flux asphaltènes-particules minérales solides-solvant paraffinique-suspension aqueuse ; éventuellement à séparer le solvant paraffinique et l'eau du flux asphaltènes-particules minérales solides-solvant paraffinique-suspension aqueuse ; éventuellement à séparer le flux DAO-solvant paraffinique en un flux riche en solvant paraffinique et en un flux de DAO ; et, éventuellement, à ajouter un diluant au flux de DAO en vue de l'obtention d'un pétrole transportable.
