- There are two modes for D2D communication One is a direct communication mode (first D2D communication mode) in which the data path does not pass through the eNB 200.
- FIG. 7 illustrates a case of D2D communication in the direct communication mode.
- the other is a local relay mode (second D2D communication mode) in which the data path passes through the eNB 200.
- the local relay mode may be referred to as a locally routed (LR) mode.
- the traffic load of the EPC 20 and the battery consumption of the UE 100 are reduced by performing D2D communication between the UE 100-1 and the UE 100-2. The effect of doing etc. is acquired.
- D2D communication As a case where D2D communication is started, (a) a case where D2D communication is started after the partner terminal is discovered by performing an operation for discovering the partner terminal, and (b) a partner terminal is discovered. There is a case where D2D communication is started without performing the operation for.
- D2D communication is started when one of the UEs 100-1 and 100-2 discovers the other UE 100 in the vicinity.
- the UE 100 discovers another UE 100 existing in the vicinity of the UE 100 in order to discover the partner terminal (Discover), and / or the UE 100 is discovered from the other UE 100 (Discoverable). It has a function.
- one of the UE 100-1 and the UE 100-2 transmits a discovery signal (Discover signal) to its surroundings, and the other UE receives the discovery signal, so that the other UE Discover one UE.
- the other UE transmits a response signal to the discovery signal to its surroundings, and the one UE receives the response signal, whereby the one UE discovers the other UE.
- the UE 100 does not necessarily need to perform D2D communication even if it discovers the counterpart terminal.
- the UE 100-1 and the UE 100-2 may negotiate each other and then perform D2D communication after discovering each other. It may be determined.

- the UE 100-1 and the UE 100-2 are close to each other, and perform D2D communication in the direct communication mode under the management of the eNB 200.
- D2D communication data transmission is performed in a procedure similar to cellular communication. Specifically, the UE 100-1 divides a packet addressed to the UE 100-2 (fragmentation), and transmits each piece of data obtained by the division. Further, the UE 100-1 holds the transmitted data corresponding to the ACK until the ACK is notified from the UE 100-2. Then, the UE 100-1 performs retransmission to the UE 100-2 on the data for which the NACK is notified from the UE 100-2 or the data for which the ACK is not notified. The UE 100-2 also performs data transmission in the same procedure.
- the communication state means, for example, reception power, reception SNR, or reception error rate.

- the communication state of the UE 100 is a communication state near the limit where D2D communication in the direct communication mode is established, if state transition is repeated between D2D communication and cellular communication, unnecessary control information increases, and the UE 100 And the load of EPC20 will increase.
- the UE 100-1 and the UE 100-2 when the communication state of the D2D communication in the direct communication mode deteriorates, the UE 100-1 and the UE 100-2 temporarily transit to the local relay mode and have not been transmitted. Send data. Specifically, the UE 100-1 and the UE 100-2 transmit untransmitted data in the direct communication mode using a data path that passes through the eNB 200 and does not pass through the S-GW 300. Further, UE 100-1 and UE 100-2 perform D2D communication in the local relay mode until transmission of untransmitted data is completed.
- the UE 100-1 and the UE 100-2 switch from D2D communication to cellular communication. Specifically, the UE 100-1 and the UE 100-2 start transmission of new data using the data path that passes through the eNB 200 and passes through the S-GW 300.
- the UE 100-1 and the UE 100-2 can transmit untransmitted data in the local relay mode without discarding untransmitted data. - step S13 the UE 100-1 transmits a transition request to the local relay mode (LR D2D request) to the eNB 200 in response to detecting the deterioration of the communication state. Note that if the UE 100-2 also detects a deterioration in the communication state, the UE 100-2 may also transmit a request for transition to the local relay mode (LR D2D request) to the eNB 200.
- LR D2D request the local relay mode
- the eNB 200 determines whether or not it is possible to transit to the local relay mode based on the transition request received from the UE 100-1. Here, the description will proceed assuming that the eNB 200 determines that the transition to the local relay mode is possible.
- step S14 the eNB 200 transmits a permission response (LR D2D grant) to the transition request to the UE 100-1.
- the eNB 200 may transmit a permission response also to the UE 100-2.
- step S15 the UE 100-1 and the UE 100-2 transition from the direct communication mode to the local relay mode together with the eNB 200 in response to receiving the permission response from the eNB 200.
- the eNB 200, the UE 100-1, and the UE 100-2 set a data path that passes through the eNB 200 and does not pass through the S-GW 300, and transmits and receives untransmitted data using the data path.

- the S-GW 300 determines whether switching to cellular communication is possible based on the data path switching request. Here, the description will be made assuming that the S-GW 300 has determined that switching to cellular communication is possible.
- step S19 the S-GW 300 transmits a permission response (Route switch accept) to the data path switching request from the eNB 200 to the eNB 200.
- step S20 after the eNB 200 receives the permission response from the S-GW 300, the UE 100-1 and the UE 100-2 switch from the D2D communication to the cellular communication together with the eNB 200 and the S-GW 300. Specifically, the S-GW 300, the eNB 200, the UE 100-1, and the UE 100-2 set a data path via the eNB 200 and the S-GW 300, and transmit / receive new data using the data path. To do.
- unsent data can be transmitted in the local relay mode without discarding unsent data before switching to cellular communication. Abstract
