Description
本発明は、継続的水素製造方法に関するものである。
近年、クリーンエネルギーである水素をエネルギー源として用いることが多く提案されており、例えば、水素を燃料とする燃料電池で駆動される自動車の開発が行われている。水素を燃料とする燃料電池からの排ガスは、内燃機関からの排ガスに含まれる窒素酸化物、粒子状物質、二酸化炭素等を含んでいないので、このような燃料電池は、環境汚染および地球温暖化を抑制できるクリーンな動力源として注目されている。
しかしながら、水素は貯蔵の際の体積が大きく、例えば自動車用の燃料電池にあっては、燃料である水素の供給手段が課題となっている。
下記の特許文献1には、アンモニア等を分解して水素を生成する方法が開示されており、アンモニアおよび/またはヒドラジンからなる水素源を、触媒反応により窒素と水素とに分解して燃料電池に供給する分解器を有する燃料電池用水素生成装置が記載され、さらに、下記の特許文献2には、特許文献1の発明を改良したアンモニアから水素を効率的に生成する水素生成装置及び水素生成方法が記載されている。
一方、燃料電池自体を小型化することが求められており、これは、携帯電話、PDA(Personal Digital Assistant、携帯情報端末機)、デジカメ、ノートパソコン等に使用される充電式二次電池のAC-DCコンバータの代用として利用することを目的としたものである。
しかしながら、上記特許文献1および2に記載のアンモニアの触媒反応により水素を製造する従来法では、アンモニアが、悪臭防止法に基づく特定悪臭物質のひとつであり、毒物および劇物取締法においても劇物に指定されているため、アンモニアの取り扱いが非常に面倒であるという問題があった。
本発明の目的は、上記の従来技術の問題を解決し、クリーンエネルギーである水素を、従来のようなアンモニアを使用することなく、簡便にかつ継続的に製造することができて、しかも非常に安全性が高い、継続的水素製造方法を提供することにある。
また、本発明の目的は、クリーンエネルギーである水素を用いた燃料電池自体を小型化することができて、例えば携帯電話、PDA(携帯情報端末機)、デジカメ、ノートパソコン等に使用される充電式二次電池のAC-DCコンバータの代用として利用することができる燃料電池にも適用可能な、継続的水素製造方法を提供することにある。
上記の目的を達成するために、請求項1の継続的水素製造方法の発明は、マイエナイト(Mayenite:Ca12Al14O33)と水酸化カルシウム〔Ca(OH)2〕を水に投入して水と反応させることにより、水素を発生させるとともに、カトイト〔Katoite:Ca3Al2(OH)12〕を生成する水素製造工程と、生成したカトイトを焼成して、マイエナイトと水酸化カルシウムを再生する再生工程と、再生したマイエナイトおよび水酸化カルシウムを水素製造工程に戻す循環工程とよりなることを特徴としている。
請求項2の発明は、請求項1に記載の継続的水素製造方法であって、水素製造工程における水の温度が、50~100℃であり、マイエナイトと水酸化カルシウムのモル比が、1:9であることを特徴としている。
請求項3の発明は、請求項1に記載の継続的水素製造方法であって、再生工程におけるカトイトの焼成温度が、300~500℃であることを特徴としている。

請求項3の発明は、請求項1に記載の継続的水素製造方法であって、再生工程におけるカトイトの焼成温度が、300~500℃であることを特徴とするもので、請求項3に記載の発明によれば、マイエナイトの再生に、例えば空気中で1200~1350℃まで加熱するというような高温処理を必要とすることがなく、設備費および加熱費が安くつき、ひいては水素の製造コストが安くつくという効果を奏する。
つぎに、本発明の実施の形態を説明するが、本発明はこれらに限定されるものではない。
本発明による継続的水素製造方法は、マイエナイト(Mayenite:Ca12Al14O33)と水酸化カルシウム〔Ca(OH)2〕を水に投入して水と反応させることにより、水素を発生させるとともに、カトイト〔Katoite:Ca3Al2(OH)12〕を生成する水素製造工程と、生成したカトイトを焼成して、マイエナイトと水酸化カルシウムを再生する再生工程と、再生したマイエナイトおよび水酸化カルシウムを水素製造工程に戻す循環工程とよりなることを特徴とするものである。
本発明の継続的水素製造方法の水素製造工程において、マイエナイトと水酸化カルシウムを水に投入して、水と反応させると、下記の反応式のように、カトイト〔Ca3Al2(OH)12〕と水素(H2)が生じる。

ここで、継続的水素製造方法の水素製造工程における水の温度が50℃未満であれば、水素生成反応の速度が遅くなり、かつ収率が悪くなるので、好ましくない。なお、水素の生成反応の際、水の温度は100℃を超えることはないが、水の温度は、100℃以下であることが好ましい。
つぎに、本発明の継続的水素製造方法の再生工程において、生成したカトイトを焼成して、マイエナイトと水酸化カルシウムを再生する。
ここで、カトイトを焼成すると、下記の反応式のように、マイエナイトと水酸化カルシウムが生じる。

本発明によるマイエナイトの製造方法によれば、従来のように空気中で1200~1350℃まで加熱するというような高温処理を必要とすることなくマイエナイトと水酸化カルシウムを再生することができ、設備費および加熱費が安くつき、ひいては水素の製造コストが安くつくものである。
さらに、本発明の継続的水素製造方法の循環工程において、再生したマイエナイトおよび水酸化カルシウムを水素製造工程に戻すものである。
本発明による継続的水素製造方法によれば、クリーンエネルギーである水素を、従来のようなアンモニアを使用することなく、簡便にかつ継続的に製造することができる。そして、マイエナイト(Mayenite)および水酸化カルシウムは、いずれも毒性のない粉粒状体であるため、取り扱いが容易であり、しかも非常に安全性が高いものである。
また、本発明の継続的水素製造方法によれば、クリーンエネルギーである水素を用いた燃料電池自体を小型化することができて、例えば携帯電話、PDA(携帯情報端末機)、デジカメ、ノートパソコン等に使用される充電式二次電池のAC-DCコンバータの代用として利用することができる燃料電池にも適用可能である。
つぎに、本発明の実施例を比較例と共に説明するが、本発明は、これらの実施例に限定されるものではない。

図1に示す水素製造用試験装置を用いて本発明による継続的水素製造方法を実施した。

本発明による継続的水素製造方法は、マイエナイトと水酸化カルシウムを水に投入して水と反応させることにより、水素を発生させるとともに、カトイトを生成する水素製造工程と、生成したカトイトを焼成して、マイエナイトと水酸化カルシウムを再生する再生工程と、再生したマイエナイトおよび水酸化カルシウムを水素製造工程に戻す循環工程とよりなるものである。
<水素製造工程>
まず、容量1リットルの反応器(セパラブルフラスコ)にイオン交換水200mlを入れた。つぎに、アルミニウム粉体(商品名#150、ミナルコ社製)9gと水酸化カルシウム〔Ca(OH)2〕(和光純薬工業社製)12gを反応器に投入して撹拌した。水素ガスの生成が終了した後、イオン交換水をろ過し、ろ過された固形分を、温度70℃で、空気下で乾燥した。
<水素製造工程>
まず、容量1リットルの反応器(セパラブルフラスコ)にイオン交換水200mlを入れた。つぎに、アルミニウム粉体(商品名#150、ミナルコ社製)9gと水酸化カルシウム〔Ca(OH)2〕(和光純薬工業社製)12gを反応器に投入して撹拌した。水素ガスの生成が終了した後、イオン交換水をろ過し、ろ過された固形分を、温度70℃で、空気下で乾燥した。
得られた固形分は、カトイト(Katoite)であり、これを温度300℃で、空気下で2時間焼成すると、マイエナイト(Mayenite:Ca12Al14O33)と水酸化カルシウムが生じた。
容量1リットルの反応器(セパラブルフラスコ)にイオン交換水200mlを入れた。つぎに、上記で得られたマイエナイト(Ca12Al14O33)と,水酸化カルシウム〔Ca(OH)2〕の混合物9g(モル比が1:9)を反応器に投入して撹拌した。加温し、イオン交換水の温度を55℃に設定した。マイエナイトと水酸化カルシウムを、水と反応させることにより、水素を発生させた。水素ガスは、除湿剤としてシリカゲルを充填した除湿機を通過させて水分を除去した後、石鹸膜流量計により発生量を計測した。発生したガスの成分は、TCD(Thermal Conductivity Detecter)型ガスクロマトグラフ(商品名GC-8A、島津製作所社製)の分析により、水素であることが確認された。イオン交換水が所定温度に到達してから60分にわたって水素ガスが発生していることが確認できた。このときの水素発生速度の経時変化を、下記の図2に示した。約60分における水素ガスの発生量は、約300mlであった。
ここで、マイエナイトと水酸化カルシウムを水に投入して、水と反応させると、下記反応式のように、カトイト〔Katoite:Ca3Al2(OH)12〕と水素(H2)が生じた。

ここで、図3に示すXRD(X線解析測定、X-Ray Diffraction spectroscopy)の測定結果のパターンから、カトイト(Katoite)の構造に帰属するピークが示されており、カトイトが生成されていることが確認できた。
<再生工程>
水素ガスの生成が終了した後、イオン交換水をろ過し、ろ過された固形分を、温度70℃で、空気下で乾燥した。

ここで、図3に示すXRD(X線解析測定、X-Ray Diffraction spectroscopy)の測定結果のパターンから、カトイト(Katoite)の構造に帰属するピークが示されており、カトイトが生成されていることが確認できた。
<再生工程>
水素ガスの生成が終了した後、イオン交換水をろ過し、ろ過された固形分を、温度70℃で、空気下で乾燥した。
得られた固形分は、上記のように、カトイトであり、これを温度300℃で、空気下で2時間焼成した。
つぎに、このカトイトの焼成により、下記反応式のように、マイエナイト(Mayenite:Ca12Al14O33)が生じた。マイエナイトの収率は、80%であった。
7Ca3Al2(OH)12→Ca12Al14O33+9Ca(OH)2+33H2O
ここで、図4に示すXRD(X線解析測定)の測定結果のパターンから、マイエナイト(Mayenite)の構造に帰属するピークが示されており、マイエナイトが生成されていることが確認できた。
<循環工程>
ついで、再生したマイエナイト6.1gおよび水酸化カルシウム2.9gを水素製造工程に戻した。
ここで、図4に示すXRD(X線解析測定)の測定結果のパターンから、マイエナイト(Mayenite)の構造に帰属するピークが示されており、マイエナイトが生成されていることが確認できた。
<循環工程>
ついで、再生したマイエナイト6.1gおよび水酸化カルシウム2.9gを水素製造工程に戻した。
さらに、再生したマイエナイトおよび水酸化カルシウムを使用して、再度、水素の製造工程を実施した。イオン交換水が所定温度に到達してから約10分にわたって水素ガスが発生していることが確認できた。このときの水素発生速度の経時変化を、下記の図2にあわせて示した。約7分における水素ガスの発生量は、約20mlであった。なお、再生マイエナイトおよび再生水酸化カルシウムを使用した水素製造工程における水素の収量の低下は、再生マイエナイトの内部の格子構造が回復してしないことが考えられる。しかしここで、水素の収量の低下は、改良すべき課題であるとしても、再生したマイエナイトおよび水酸化カルシウムを使用して、再度、水素の製造工程を実施することが可能であることが判明した。
以上のことから、本発明の継続的水素製造方法によれば、クリーンエネルギーである水素を、従来のようなアンモニアを使用することなく、簡便にかつ継続的に製造することができ、しかも非常に安全性が高いものである。
また、本発明の継続的水素製造方法によれば、クリーンエネルギーである水素を用いた燃料電池自体を小型化することができて、例えば携帯電話、PDA(携帯情報端末機)、デジカメ、ノートパソコン等に使用される充電式二次電池のAC-DCコンバータの代用として利用することができる燃料電池にも適用可能であると考えられる。
比較例1
比較のために、上記実施例1の場合と同様の実験を行うが、実施例1の場合と異なる点は、マイエナイトおよび水酸化カルシウムの再生工程において、先に得られた固形分のカトイトの焼成を温度100℃で実施した点にある。その結果、焼成後の固形分は、図3に示すXRD(X線解析測定)の測定結果のパターンと同じもので、カトイトのままであることが確認され、マイエナイトは生じなかった。そのために、最後の循環工程を実施することはできなかった。
比較例1
比較のために、上記実施例1の場合と同様の実験を行うが、実施例1の場合と異なる点は、マイエナイトおよび水酸化カルシウムの再生工程において、先に得られた固形分のカトイトの焼成を温度100℃で実施した点にある。その結果、焼成後の固形分は、図3に示すXRD(X線解析測定)の測定結果のパターンと同じもので、カトイトのままであることが確認され、マイエナイトは生じなかった。そのために、最後の循環工程を実施することはできなかった。
Claims (3)
- マイエナイト(Mayenite:Ca12Al14O33)と水酸化カルシウム〔Ca(OH)2〕を水に投入して水と反応させることにより、水素を発生させるとともに、カトイト〔Katoite:Ca3Al2(OH)12〕を生成する水素製造工程と、生成したカトイトを焼成して、マイエナイトと水酸化カルシウムを再生する再生工程と、再生したマイエナイトおよび水酸化カルシウムを水素製造工程に戻す循環工程とよりなることを特徴とする、継続的水素製造方法。
- 水素製造工程における水の温度が、50~100℃であり、マイエナイトと水酸化カルシウムのモル比が、1:9であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の継続的水素製造方法。
- 再生工程におけるカトイトの焼成温度が、300~500℃であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の継続的水素製造方法。
