Abstract

The invention relates to an applicator comprising bristles (6) and teeth, said bristles and teeth being moulded to form a single piece, as well as forming rings (3). Each ring comprises bristles and teeth that extend in the same plane perpendicular to an axis (10) of the applicator. The rings are such that there are at least two consecutive rings having different numbers of bristles from one another or different numbers of teeth from one another.

Applicator for applying a product to eyelashes and / or eyebrows comprising bristles and teeth

The invention relates to applicators for applying a product, such as mascara, to the eyelash or the eyebrows.

Document WO 2008/091128 discloses a mascara applicator comprising bristles and teeth molded by co-injection onto the applicator. The applicator thus comprises several brush sectors and several combs. These organs cooperate to coat the eyelashes with mascara, to give them an effect of lengthening, to comb them and curl them. The realization of the applicator by co-injection reduces the operations for manufacturing.

An object of the invention is to further improve the makeup properties of an applicator of this type formed by co-injection.

For this purpose, there is provided according to the invention an applicator for applying a product on the eyelashes and / or the eyebrows which comprises bristles and teeth, the bristles and the teeth being molded together to form a single piece and forming crowns, each crown comprising bristles and teeth extending in the same plane perpendicular to an axis of the applicator, the crowns being such that there are at least two consecutive crowns having different numbers of bristles from each other or different numbers of teeth from each other.

Thus, the crown or crowns having the least hair or teeth leave more space for the applicator to load mascara in the product reservoir and at the outlet of the latter. The applicator therefore makes it possible to coat the eyelashes with the mascara more effectively and with a reduced number of operations. The cooperation of the hairs and teeth also avoids the formation of packages.

The applicator may furthermore exhibit at least any of the following characteristics:

said consecutive crowns have different numbers of bristles;

at least two consecutive crowns have numbers of bristles whose difference is one;

at least two consecutive crowns have numbers of bristles whose difference is equal to two;

the applicator has a section over part of its length in which, for any pair of consecutive crowns, the number of crowns of the bristles is different and / or the number of teeth of the crowns are different;

- There is a screwing such that any crown of the section is the image of another crown of the section by the screwing or image is another crown of the section by screwing; the applicator has a section over part of its length in which all the crowns have the same number of bristles and the same number of teeth, this section preferably extending in a distal end portion of the applicator in which a total transverse dimension of the applicator will be reduced as one approaches a free end of the applicator;

the applicator is such that, in any two consecutive crowns, the bristles extend in the same rows and the teeth extend in the same rows;

Also provided according to the invention a makeup device which comprises a product reservoir and an applicator according to the invention.

Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent in the following description of an embodiment given by way of non-limiting example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:

FIGS. 1 to 7 illustrate an applicator 2 for applying a product such as mascara to the eyelashes and / or the eyebrows. The applicator has a general shape with a symmetry of revolution of axis 10. It comprises bristles 6 and teeth or fingers 8, bristles and teeth being rigidly secured to the rod and projecting from the latter. In the present example, all the bristles 6 and all the teeth 8 each have a rectilinear shape and extend in a direction perpendicular and radial to the axis 10.

The bristles, teeth and stem are all co-injection molded together to form a single piece. Thus, during a first injection step with a first material, a cylindrical internal core 12 of the rod and the teeth 8 is produced by molding. During a second injection step with a second material, the peripheral portion 14 of the rod which forms the surface and the bristles 6. The latter completely covers the core 12. Molds for making an applicator by co-injection are known in themselves. Their adaptation to the implementation of the applicator according to the invention does not pose any difficulty so that the mold used to make the applicator 2 will not be described here.

The bristles 6 and the teeth 8 are made here of different materials. In this case, the teeth are made of polyoxymethylene (or polyformaldehyde or POM). The bristles are for example made of elastomer. Teeth are harder and less flexible than hair. Other materials may also be suitable.

The bristles and the teeth form crowns 3 and rows 5. Each ring 3 is formed by bristles and teeth that follow one another about the axis 10 in the same plane perpendicular to the latter. The rows 5 of bristles and teeth are rectilinear and parallel to the axis. In any two consecutive crowns 3, the bristles extend in the same rows and the teeth extend in the same rows. Thus, the rows of the applicator are either formed entirely of bristles 6 or integrally of teeth 8. In each row, there is a constant pitch p such that the bristles or teeth belonging to consecutive crowns are spaced apart by not following the direction of axis 10. This step is identical for all rows. As illustrated in Figure 7 which has a developed view of the applicator, the bristles and teeth thus define a grid around the axis.

In this case, the total number of rows 5 is equal to sixteen, the applicator comprising four rows of teeth forming four combs and twelve rows of bristles. The combs are evenly distributed around the axis so that two consecutive combs are spaced 90 degrees apart. The rows of bristles are evenly distributed about the axis and between the combs so that two consecutive combs are separated from each other by three rows of bristles together forming a brush sector. The applicator thus comprises four brush sectors alternating with the four combs around the axis.

The crowns 3 are here thirty in number. A subset of these crowns that succeed one another from the free end of the applicator shaped end portion or tip 16. The crowns of the tip are in this case eight in number. The other crowns that follow each other from the tip to the other end of the applicator form the main part 18. number of eighteen.

In the tip 16, the total dimension of the crowns, which is the total dimension of the applicator in a radial plane, is reduced regularly as one approaches the free end of the tip. In the main part 18, the crowns have the same total dimensions.

In the main part 18, whatever the pair of consecutive crowns considered, the crowns have different numbers of hairs. Depending on the crowns considered, this difference is worth one or two, in this case. It follows, given the general configuration of the applicator, that some rows of hair are devoid of hair to the right of some of the crowns. In this case, the bristles are arranged so that this property is checked only on the rows of bristles that are not adjacent to a comb. In other words, a row of hair without hair at the right of one of the crowns is separated from each closest comb by another row of hair. Or, the rows of hair adjacent to a comb are all complete.

Thus, the complete crowns comprise twelve bristles. Some crowns include eleven hairs and some other ten hairs. All maintain the same number of teeth equal to 4 in this case. Similarly, some rows have a complete number of hairs equal here to thirty and others a number of hairs equal to twenty-six.

Some crowns or rows therefore have missing bristles or "holes" as seen in Figure 7. The bristles or holes are arranged with a certain periodicity along the axis and around the axis. Thus, there is a screwing such that any crown of the main part 18 is the image of another crown of this part by screwing or image is another crown of this part by screwing. Such screwing is composed of a rotation and a translation. In this case, this screwing has a pitch equal to four times the pitch p and an angle of a quarter turn around the axis 10. This property concerning the screwing is also verified here by the crown of the tip 16 la closer to the main portion 18. This provides a relatively even distribution of holes in the applicator. Each of these holes can receive mascara so as to locally increase the product load at the outlet of the tank.

In this case, in the tip 16, only the crown closest to the main portion 18 has a number of bristles different from the other crowns of the tip. These last do not differ from each other by their number of hairs or by their number of teeth. This part of the applicator is often more intended for finishing work, or makeup of small eyelashes, so that it is not useful to increase its mascara load.

Referring to Figure 8, the applicator is here intended to be part of a device 20 comprising a reservoir 22 of mascara 24. The applicator comprises at its other free end 26 a gripping member which forms a closure plug of a tank pass. In the closed position, the applicator soaks in the product.

Of course, we can bring to the invention many changes without departing from the scope thereof.

Although an example has been described in which the crowns differ from each other only by the number of bristles, it is conceivable that they differ only in the number of teeth or that they differ both by the number of teeth. bristles and the number of teeth.

All numerical values given above are for example only and different values can be used. Thus, the difference in number of hairs between the crowns may be greater than or equal to three. In particular, the number of bristles and teeth of each crown and each row may be different from the values given above. This is how we can give the crowns a number of bristles less than or equal to 9 or greater than or equal to 13, or a number of teeth greater than or less than 4. We can provide a number of combs different from four and a number of rows of bristles different from twelve.

It can be provided that the portion of the brush whose crowns differ in the number of bristles forms only a portion of the main portion 18.

It is possible to provide the bristles and the teeth in different materials without any of these materials comprising an elastomer or a plastic material.
