Definitions

  • Embodiments of the invention relate to canoe devices for use with pouch systems.
  • Pouches are used as containers for liquids and other flowable media. More recently, pouches have begun to be used in place of traditional containers - such as bottles - in many consumer industries. Pouches are preferred in some industries for their low cost, minimized waste, and ease of use.
  • the pouch In order to remove a fluid or material contained in a pouch, the pouch must either be broken or torn open or some device must exist to facilitate removal of the material from within the pouch.
  • canoe devices In the case of pouches holding fluids, canoe devices are often sealed into a pouch or integrated therewith to allow a pump or other device to be attached to the canoe and to remove material from the pouch.
  • conventional canoes - or plastic pourers - may include one or more welding ribs extending circumferentially around a neck of the device.
  • the welding rib may also include a smaller welding flash located along the rib.
