  • the gap (13) is closed by the rotary valve (24), the passage of the liquid between the retaining chamber ( 1) and the container (2) is blocked. Opening and closing of the gap (13) is controlled by the valve controller (20) which will be described in detail hereinafter. It is shown in Fig. 3 and Fig.
  • the canister (10) has an internally threaded end (14) at the lower inner part for securing to the externally threaded opening (3) of the container (2).
  • the threaded end ( 14) may be modified to a snap-fitting type or the like to connect to different types of the opening (3) of the container (2) accordingly.
  • the protrusion (1 5) is located exterior to the outer wall (16) for engaging with the cavity (33) of the lid (30) so as to prevent sliding of the lid (30) when the knob (22) is turned.
  • the valve controller (20) has the knob (22) on the closure plate (21 ), and beneath the knob (22) is the rotary valve (24) which has the plurality of ports (25) of different sizes. It is preferred that, the knob (22), the closure plate (21 ) and the rotary valve (24) are integrally formed, and therefore, are not slidable relative to each other.
  • the closure plate (21 ) closes the retaining chamber (1 1 ) from above and, at the same time, the rotary valve (24) is received within and engaged with the partition (12). Therefore, turning the knob (22) also rotates the rotary valve (24) relative to the partition (12).
  • the plurality of sealing rings (26) are disposed between the partition (12) and the rotary valve (24), with at least one of the sealing rings (26) fitted to the bottom of the partition (12) and at least another one of the sealing rings (26) fitted to the top of the rotary valve (24) each to ensure a fluid tight condition.
  • the plurality of ports (25) each has a specific size to allow a predetermined volume of the liquid to be retained in the retaining chamber (1 ). Therefore, the volume of the liquid retained in the retaining chamber (1 1 ) is partly determined by the capacity of the retaining chamber (1 1 ), and further determined by the size of the plurality of ports (25) whereby, the one of the plurality of ports (25) of bigger size allows a smaller volume of liquid to be retained in the retaining chamber (1 1 ) because excessive liquid flows back to the container (2), and vice versa. It will be appreciated that, it is the height of the plurality of ports (25) which determines the liquid retained, whereas the width of the plurality of ports (25) only affects the speed of liquid flow between the container (2) and the retaining chamber (1 1 ).
  • Fig. 6a, 6b shows the lid (30) which is a circular plate with the central aperture (32) and the spout (31 ).
  • the lid (30) is designed to cover the closure plate (21 ) and keep the closure plate (21 ) flush against the canister (10) by having a circumferential rim (34) grasping the canister (10) with the closure plate (21 ) in between the canister (10) and the lid (30).
  • the aperture (32) allows the knob (22) to protrude out from the lid (30) for access by a user.
  • the volume indication on the lid (30) allows the user to turn the knob (22) accordingly to a desired volume of the liquid to be dispensed, whereby when the knob (22) is pointed at the volume indication of the desired predetermined volume, the plurality of ports (25) corresponding to the desired predetermined volume is aligned with the gap (13).
  • a minimum of one depression (35) underneath the lid (30) snugly fits the orifice (23) in a position where one of the plurality of ports (25) is aligned with the gap (13) to temporarily fix the position thereof and to prevent unintentional displacement of the plurality of ports (25).
  • the spout (31 ) is preferably a hole with a raised lip which allows and directs the passage of liquid out of the retaining chamber (1 1 ), when the orifice (23) is aligned to the spout (31 ).
  • the cap of the container (2) When in use, the cap of the container (2) is removed and the opening (3) of the container (2) is mounted with the apparatus (1 ), by securing the lower end of the canister (10) to the opening (3).
  • the knob (22) When not in use, the knob (22) is kept at a closed position so that the plurality of ports (25) is not aligned with the gap (13), and the liquid in the container (2) is blocked from flowing into the retaining chamber ( 1 ).
  • the knob (22) When the liquid is to be measured and dispensed, the knob (22) is turned to point at the volume indication of a desired predetermined volume, so that the rotary valve (24) will be rotated and the plurality of ports (25) corresponding to the chosen volume will be aligned with the gap (13).
  • the container (2) together with the apparatus (1 ) is then tilted or inverted, so that the liquid flows into the retaining chamber (1 1 ). Then, the container (2) is returned to an upright position. Excess liquid in the retaining chamber (1 1 ) will flow out through the gap (13) back into the container (2) so that only the predetermined volume of liquid, the level of which corresponds with the height of one of the plurality of ports (25), is retained in the retaining chamber (11).
  • the knob (22) is then turned to align the orifice (23) with the spout (31) so that liquid can be dispensed out.
  • the plurality of ports (25) and the orifice (23) are arranged such that whenever the plurality of ports (25) is aligned to the gap (13), the orifice (23) will not be aligned with the spout (31). This is to prevent the liquid from leaking out from the spout (31 ) when the retaining chamber (11) is to be filled with the predetermined volume of liquid.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un appareil (1) servant à mesurer et distribuer un liquide d'un récipient (2). L'appareil se caractérise en ce qu'il comprend une cartouche métallique (10) comprenant une chambre de retenue (11) et une cloison (12) comportant un espace vide (13), la cartouche métallique étant reliée à une ouverture (3) du récipient (2). L'appareil comprend également un contrôleur de vanne (20) comportant une plaque de fermeture (21) munie d'un orifice (23), d'un bouton (22) et d'une vanne rotative (24) présentant une pluralité de ports (25). Le passage du liquide entre le récipient (2) et la chambre de retenue (11) est autorisé lorsque les ports (25) sont alignés sur l'espace vide (13), et bloqué lorsque les ports (25) sont désaxés de l'espace vide (13). Les ports (25) présentent une taille qui permet la retenue d'un volume prédéterminé de liquide dans la chambre de retenue (11) lorsque ladite cartouche (10) se trouve en position verticale. L'appareil comprend en outre un couvercle (30) qui comporte un bec (31) dont l'alignement avec l'orifice (23) permet la distribution du liquide retenu dans la chambre de retenue (11).
