  • the present invention relates generally to automobile mat but more particularly to a car mat made of clear virgin plastic and properly fastened to the floor carpet to show the original and classy carpet of the automobile.
  • Protective floor mats are well-known and have found widespread application. In general, the mats are either durable and relatively costly, which require cleaning and maintenance, or paper-like and intended to be discarded after a brief period of use. Examples of the former range from carpeting, throw rugs, and other woven or tufted fabric mats while the latter types principally are made of paper-like material such as are commonly found in new automobiles or runners used in protecting carpeting in newly constructed housing. There have, however, been investigated other structures designed for applications having somewhat more demanding requirements but where disposability or limited use require low costs. The present invention is directed to automobile mats useful for protecting floor carpets from being soiled by contact with dirty liquids or other sources of dirt or contamination.
  • the primary object of this invention therefore is to provide a customized car mat made of clear, virgin vinyl resin material that allows the original, classy carpet liner of the vehicle to be seen therethrough.
  • Another object of this invention is to provide a car mat that is custom built for each type of car model and has perimeter edges flashed to the walls of floor of the car to prevent dirt and liquid from penetrating the carpet.

This ensures that all surfaces of the vehicle's carpet would be fully covered and with the inclusion of said perimeter flange 18 that is flashed on said floor carpet, all dirt and accidental spills will definitely contained on said car mat 10 preventing therefore the absorption of liquid by the carpet which is the prime source of foul odor in all vehicles.

Abstract

L'invention porte sur un tapis de sol d'automobile personnalisé pour la protection d'un plancher moquetté d'une automobile, ledit tapis de sol d'automobile comportant un élément de tapis de plancher généralement rectangulaire, une pluralité de nervures moulées transversalement sur ledit élément de tapis de plancher, une paroi périphérique disposée aux bords longitudinal et transversal arrière, opposés, dudit élément de tapis de plancher, et ledit tapis de sol étant caractérisé en ce que ledit tapis de plancher, qui est fait en une matière plastique transparente, claire, afin de permettre au revêtement élégant de la moquette de départ sur un plancher d'automobile d'être vu à travers celui-ci, est moulé en suivant le contour de ladite automobile, de façon à recouvrir ainsi correctement le plancher moquetté de ladite automobile.
