Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an improved hinge for fireproof doors.
  • frames In the field of fireproof doors, frames have been developed having sections with a high moment of inertia, in steel sections with perimetric reinforcements and door panels made of steel sheets, suitably insulated and reinforced, which guarantee a high security.
  • the panels of these doors have special hinges capable of tolerating the load of the panel, which is extremely heavy due to its structure, and are capable of bringing the door back to a closed position when released by , the user.
  • suitable springs have been assembled in traditional fireproof doors, as already mentioned, in at least one of the hinges, whereas the second hinge is structured as a supporting hinge. These springs must be particularly effective for bringing the door panel back, with a reasonable certainty, from an open position to a closed position inside the frame. If, on the one hand, closure is guaranteed, on the other, the moving door, pulled by the elastic strength of the spring, acquires a certain acceleration making it shut with a violent slamming against the frame.
  • the spring must be able to exceed or overcome the friction in the moving parts, i.e. the friction between the pin and the hinge, and consequently its elastic force must also have a certain value.
  • hinges In order to improve the problem of friction, hinges have been produced such as, for example, some of the hinges currently in use, constructed according to patent EP 796 969 of the same Applicant.
  • hinges are at least partially beneficial for the problem of friction, but there is still the necessity for final assemblers and users of reducing friction to the minimum and, above all, there is the problem of regulating the force of the spring according to the specific use.
  • the spring in fact, must exceed not only the weight of the door to be reclosed, but also part of its torsion force, to overcome the friction caused by the spring-holder pin. This requires greater force on the part of the user, in the opening phase of the door.
  • a general objective of the present invention is to solve the above-mentioned drawbacks of the known technique in a simple, economical and functional manner .
  • a further objective is to provide an improved hinge for fireproof doors which prevents a violent return to the closed position due to the loading of the spring, under both closing and opening conditions.
  • Yet another objective is to provide an improved hinge for fireproof doors in which the friction areas are limited ithus allowing a facilitated movement of the parts .
  • figure 1 shows a schematic and synthetic view of a fireproof door equipped with a hinge according to the present invention
  • figure 2 shows a partially sectional plan view of the hinge according to the invention in an open position with the spring loaded
  • figure 3 is a top view of the hinge as shown in figure 2 according to the arrow F;
  • figures 4a and 4b are a partially sectional exploded view of the inner part of the hinge shown in figure 2;
  • FIGS. 4c, 4d and 4e are two views from above and one view from i below of the respective elements 31, 28-29 and 23-24;
  • FIGS. 5 and 6 are exploded plan and sectional views of the carpentry part only of the hinge shown in figure 2;
  • figure 7 is a sectional view of the carpentry part only of the hinge shown in figure 2 in a construction variant.
  • this illustrates a schematic view showing a fireproof door, in which a real panel or door 14 is assembled on a wall 12 inside a frame 13 or stile.
  • a hinge for example the upper hinge, is produced according to the present invention and is indicated as a whole with 11.
  • the hinge 11 comprises a frame-side portion 15 and a door-side portion 16, both made of a thick metal sheet, for example in galvanized steel or another suitable metallic material.
  • the frame-side portion 15, U-shaped in a raised view, comprises a fixing plate 17 which extends integrally into a pair of tubular sections 18, folded at the ends of the fixing plate 17.
  • a square-folded connection zone 19 is envisaged between ! the fixing plate 17 and tubular sections 18.
  • a square- folded connection zone 22 is envisaged between the fixing plate 20 and tubular sections 21.
  • This hinging group comprises, as arranged in the housing sequence in the tubular sections 18 and 21, a sleeve or bucket 23, situated in a first tubular section 18, and a hollow composite body 31, 36 which contains a return spring 34 of the door.
  • the bucket 23, having a cylindrical form comprises, on its external surface, three sloping slots 24, produced by milling or moulding, suitable for housing the end of a bead 25 for its blockage in the tubular section 18, thanks to the threaded pass-through hole 43 situated therein.
  • the bead 25 has a faceted cylindrical tip with six supporting surfaces on one of three sloping slots 24 (when not rotating, it is therefore unlosable with vibrations) .
  • this arrangement allows the adjustment of i the position of the bucket 23 inside the tubular section 18 and consequently! the regulated positioning of the bearing arrangement housed !therein.
  • a stopper 26 closes the section 18 in which said sleeve 23 is positioned in the side facing the outside.
  • the bucket 23 envisages a groove 27 for housing balls 28 with a relative withholding cage 29 for forming a bearing with a second groove.
  • a second groove 30, facing the first groove 27, is in fact situated on a first hollow body- used as a spring-guide 31, which is inserted blocked in the tubular section 21 of the door-side portion 16 of the hinge .
  • the groove 30 of the spring-guide body 31, the withholding cage 29 of the balls 28 and the groove 27 of the bucket 23 form an axially supporting bearing in the hinge.
  • the spring-guide body 31 is hollow and cylindrical, and on the side closed by the groove 30, it comprises, in its interior, a hollowed star-shaped seat 32, as in the example of figure 4c, for receiving a first curled end 33 of a spring 34.
  • the second curled end 35 of the spring 34 is inserted in a second body used as a spring-regulation body 36, also hollow and cylindrical and equipped, in its interior, with a hollow seat 37 for receiving the second curled end 35.
  • the spring- guides body 31 is inserted blocked in the tubular section 21.
  • the spring-regulation body 36 is partly positioned in an area of the tubular section 21 of the door-side portion 16 and partly in the tubular section 18 of the frame-side portion 15.
  • the spring-regulation body 36 In its side situated inside the tubular section 18 of the frame-side portion 15, the spring-regulation body 36 comprises, on its outer side surface, a series of eight or more flat-bottomed facets 39, which can receive the end of a pass-through bead 38 screwed into a hole 43 in the tubular section 18.
  • the spring-guide body 31, the spring 34 and spring- regulation body 36 form the elastic arrangement for the return of the door into a closed position, which can be regulated by means of the facets 39 and bead 38.
  • the positioning of the bead 38 is effected when the various elements have been correctly positioned and the spring has been loaded according to the desired elastic value. More specifically, this occurs once the bead 25 has been positioned so as to block the bucket 23 in the first tubular section 18 and the curls 33 and 35 of the spring 34 have been inserted in the respective hollowed seats 32 and 37.
  • An embedded hexagonal hole 40 situated in the head of the spring-regulation body 36, in an axial direction with respect to the piece, allows a specific Allen key (not shown) to be used for effecting the loading, rotating: the spring-regulation body 36 itself.
  • the bead 38 is screwed into one of the facets 39, blocking the spring-regulation body 36 with respect to the tubular section 18 with the desired loading of the spring, due to the number of revs effected.
  • the bucket 23, the bearing group 27, 28, 29, 30, the first hollow body used as spring-guide 31, the spring 34 and second hollow body used as spring-regulation 36 are all positioned in the tubular sections 18, 21 which, as already mentioned, are aligned with each other defining a housing seat for the same.
  • the friction area between the parts is limited to a portion 41 of the tubular section 18 (indicated in figure 2) , being reduced to not more than a third of the friction present in a current traditional spring hinge.
  • a hinge according to the present invention therefore enables the force of the spring to be regulated as desired and at I the same time advantageously carries the weight of : the door per se, thanks to the particular arrangement of the bearing and relative assembly parts of the same.
  • the weight of the door is advantageously distributed over both of the hinges that are supporting the door (adjustable in height by means of the bead 25 or 67 which rests on the sloping plane 24 of the body 23) .
  • a hinge is thus produced which is not only of the spring type but is also supporting.
  • the arrangement of the invention allows the door to slide more gently towards the closing position, thus almost completely annulling, with the use of balls, the rolling friction on the pin.
  • the function of facilitating the reciprocal sliding is associated with the function of effecting the automatic return of the door to the closed position.
  • the position of the bead 38 on the flat faceting 39 causes the blockage of the parts in an axial direction with respect to the hinge. This ensures that the hinge can be assembled as represented in figures 1 and 2 and also overturned, without causing the pieces forming it to exit from the tubular sections 18 and 21 of the door-side or frame-side portions.
  • the frame-side portions 15 and door- side portions 16 are represented as being produced in a single piece of shaped and curved metal sheet which extends to form the containment tubular sections 18 and 21 of the spring mechanism and its regulation.
