(5)セルフライゲーションブラケットの中には、蓋が容易に壊れてしまい、その場合、ワイヤーで結紮することも出来ないため、治療に支障をきたすものもある。
(6)セルフライゲーション機構を持たせたことで、ブラケットが複雑な形態となり、頬粘膜や舌などを刺激し、潰瘍を形成することがしばしば認められる。

ブラケット本体に形成されたアーチワイヤースロットと、
アーチワイヤーロック用の開閉蓋と、
開閉蓋をスライドおよび回転可能な状態でブラケット本体に連結している開閉蓋連結部とを有し、
開閉蓋は、アーチワイヤースロットを封鎖した状態でブラケット本体に係合した閉じ位置、この閉じ位置から所定方向にスライドしてブラケット本体との係合が解除された係合解除位置、および、この係合解除位置から所定方向に回転してアーチワイヤースロットを開放した開き位置を経由する移動経路に沿って移動可能であることを特徴としている。

(e)蓋がワイヤーを必要以上に押さえつける事がない(パッシブライゲーション)。
(f)蓋を閉めたとき、アーチワイヤースロットが設計通りの寸法となることで、ワイヤーの遊びが必要以上に生じない。
(g)蓋を閉じた際には、セルフライゲーションブラケットの特徴となっている凸凹の舌を刺激する形態の複雑さがない滑沢な表面構造となる。
(h)蓋が壊れにくい。
(i)万が一、壊れた場合にも従来法による結紮が可能である。
(j)蓋の開閉を容易に行うことが出来る。
(k)同一の構造で外側からの矯正、裏側からの矯正のいずれにも使用できる。
(l)歯列矯正用ブラケットの表面に、テフロン(登録商標)やセラミックなどで白色の表面加工を行うことで、歯冠色と同色の審美性にも優れたブラケットにすることが出来る。
