Definitions
- the present invention relates to a roller press, in particular for compacting powders, with a first rotatable roller and a second rotatable roller, which form between them a nip through which the material to be processed during operation is guided, and whose axes of rotation extend at least substantially parallel to one another , wherein the nip is closed on both sides by a respective peripheral collar which is attached to one of the rollers and protrudes radially at least as far beyond the roller diameter of the associated roller, that it directly the nip and on the inlet and outlet sides covering the adjacent area frontally.
- powdery bulk materials are often used, which are difficult to process due to the poor flow properties of powders. Powders are therefore often converted into granules.
- a common method for granulating powders is the so-called compacting.
- compacting the powder to be granulated is fed to a roll press having a pair of rolls and passed through the nip formed between the two rolls. Between the rollers, in particular in the nip itself, the powder is compacted into a so-called scab. The air escaping from the powder during the compression process is removed via the end faces of the rollers.
- each collar must be fastened to the circumference of the roller in many places.
- fastening by means of screws this results in a relatively high number of fastening screws per collar.
- all these fixing screws must be solved in order to solve the rolls of their associated shaft can.
- it must be possible to disassemble the roller the
- the invention has for its object to provide a roller press, the nip including the inlet and outlet side immediately adjoining the end region is well sealed and yet easily and quickly disassembled without the aid of a complex, additional device.
- each roller of a pair of rollers has only one collar, wherein one roller has the collar on one end side and the other roller has the collar on the opposite or opposite end side.
- each of a collar attached to each roller of a pair of rollers is formed integrally with the associated roller or constitutes a separate component attached to the corresponding end of the roller, e.g. by means of a series of
- each collar protrudes approximately 10 mm radially beyond the working surface of the associated roller.
- each roller axially clamped by means of a pressure lid on the shaft rotatably supporting shaft, wherein the outer edge of the roller facing side of the pressure lid formed by a static lip seal is.
- a static lip seal avoids the formation of a small gap, as occurs in the use of a conventionally used O-ring, and thus creates a dead space seal between the outer periphery of the pressure cap and the end face of the roller against which the pressure lid. It is better possible to clean a roll press designed in this way because no material residues can settle in the gap which no longer exists.
- a pressure lid with static lip seal using mounting a roller on its shaft is due to their ease of assembly and disassembly particularly advantageous in conjunction with the above-described embodiment of the collar rollers of a roller press, but can also be independent of such
- Embodiment are used, i. in a roll press with conventionally executed collar roll (both collars on one and the same roll) and also on roll presses without collar roll.
- the feeding of the rolls or of the roll gap is generally effected by means of gravitational force or positively guided by means of one or more screws, also called stuffing screws.
- a stuffing screw normally ends shortly before the nip and is wrapped in the area of the rolls by a so-called screw chamber, through which the stuffing screw presses the material to be processed to the nip.
- the screw chamber from an operating position in a too The axes of rotation of the rollers parallel direction together with the screw conveyor in a laterally offset to the nip maintenance position displaced. This structural measure no additional space above the roller press is required even when disassembling the roller press, ie the height of the roller press can be kept small. Again, this is particularly advantageous when the roller press is arranged in an insulator.
- the plug screw in the maintenance position, can be pulled axially downwards out of the screw chamber. This is possible in an insulator and using gloves easily and space-saving.
- the above-described displacement of the screw chamber from the operating position into the laterally offset to the nip maintenance position is preferably made possible by the fact that the screw chamber is received in its operating position in a fixed, open to the maintenance position holder.
- a detachable, approximately heart-shaped pressure plate preferably closes the side of the holder which is open towards the maintenance position during operation. The holder can do so
- the temperature increases due to the compression due to frictional effects.
- the printing plate or the printing plates and / or the holder are preferably liquid-cooled. In this way, temperature-sensitive products are not damaged when passing through the roller press.
- Embodiments of the roll press according to the invention with a screw chamber which can be displaced from an operating position in a direction parallel to the axes of rotation of the rolls together with the screw conveyor into a maintenance position staggered laterally relative to the nip, preferably also have the above in the sense of simpler demountability and improved cleaning capability discussed features of unilateral collar rolls and / or pressure lid with static Lip seal on, but can also be used without these features and retain their advantages in terms of compact design and good disassembly under tight conditions.

- a so-called scoop is formed by further compression of the supplied material, which falls out of the nip 16 below and is transported away by a conveyor belt or the like, not shown here. From the slug, a granulate of desired size can be easily prepared for further processing, for example for
- the two rollers 12, 14 are designed as so-called collar rollers, wherein the first roller 12 has a first collar 34 (see Figure 3) on its one end face 36, which faces the viewer in Figure 1.
- the second roller 14 has a second collar 38 on its end face 40, which is opposite to the end face 36 of the first roller 12 and thus facing away from the observer in FIG. 1 (see FIG. 3).
- Each collar 34, 38 projects radially so far beyond the roller diameter D of the associated roller 12 or 14 that it covers or overlaps the roller gap 16 and an area immediately adjacent thereto on the inlet and outlet side between the working surfaces 12a, 14a.
- the collar 34 and 38 may be integrally formed with the associated roller 12, 14 or represent separate components which are attached to the respective end face 36, 40 of the roller 12, 14, for example by means of fastening screws.
- the radial projection is in the illustrated embodiment about 10 mm.

- the pressure plates 44 and 46 can be liquid-cooled and for this purpose have one or more cavities (not shown) through which a cooling liquid circulates during operation.
- Each roller 12, 14 is fixed by means of a pressure cover 52, 54 (see in particular FIGS. 1 and 3) to an output stub 56 of the shaft 13, 15, respectively.

- the pressure roller 52 holding the first roller 12 can be removed and the roller 12 can be pulled off the output stub 56 to the front.
- the procedure is analogous to the pressure cover 54 and the second roller 14. It can be seen that, due to the collar 34, 38 arranged only on one side on each roller 12, 14, a mutual obstruction of the collars 34, 38 is avoided.
