Abstract

Treyser - A mine clearing device which can be attached to the front of a vehicle, said device consisting of: arms (x) which are pivotably (z) connected to the vehicle; hydraulic cylinders (b, c) which can act as dampers upon detonation of an IED, control the movement, upon detonation of an IED, of demining wheels/rollers (a) which are mounted on the arms, lift the arms (x) in order to pass the device over obstacles and lift the arms (x) to a travelling position; demining wheels/rollers (a) mounted on the arms (x), said demining wheels/rollers (a), in working position, being in contact with the ground and able to detonate an IED; a mine detection device (t); at least one camera (cam) which provides a better view of the demining wheels and the terrain as well as better observation for the driver and the vehicle against detonations of an IED.

Description

DEMINING DEVICE
DESCRIPTION The Treyser is a device to replace foot soldiers detecting mines when on foot or driving on uncharted and dangerous terrain, when soldiers encounter unseen hazards of improvised explosive device -IEDs- that could be missed by mine detectors used by foot soldiers.
The Treyser is a device that consists of three wheels independant of each other and evenly spaced, flexible enough to move over uneven surfaces and always in contact with the ground.
The main structure is a fixed arm (x) securely attached to the chasis or bumper of the armoured vehicle, extended by arm (y) that pivots on joint (z) that moves anti-clockwise, lifting arm (y) at the same time lifting the strut (w) · Three wheels (a) (depending on width of vehicle) that are attached by arm (h) that pivots on strut (w) that moves clockwise lifts at the same time as arm (y) releasing the explosive force.
Each wheel (a) is fitted with hydraulic/damper (b) which is mounted vertically on strut (w) , which is connected to one side of lever (e) that pivots at (p) on top of pillar (u) and forms part of the structure on strut (w) . The other end of lever (e) has a tie-rod (d) connected to arm (h).
When making contact with an IED the arms of the device (y) (h) have a counter effect moving it upwards, so that the explosive impact on the wheels (a) move clockwise vertically when th e hydraulic/dampers (b) connected to lever (e) pivots on (p), hydraulic/damper (c) pivots on (n) anticlockwise, at the same time hydraulic/damper (b) that is vertically attached to strut: (w) connected to one end of lever (e) that is mounted on top of pillar (u) which pivots on (p) , pulling lever (e) down, pulls tie-rod (d) that lifts arm (h) connected to wheel (a) lifting it up clockwise, creating quite a large gap to let the explosive force to .pass unimpeded with little or no effect to armoured vehicle, also, the shield (f) gives added protection to the vehicle and personnel, deflecting the explosive force skywards. The driver and occupants can see the. explosion but will not be effected in anyway or destabilise the vehicle, as it is completely isolated from the device.
When the wheels (a) set-off an IED the force of the explosion moves the wheels (a) upwards; when sensors detect a sudden movement, switches an electronic device, activates the hydraulic/ dampers (b)(c) in quick response to the explosion, raising the- wheels (a) to maximum thus releasing the explosive force, without dire consequences. 7. For safety reasons when the hydraulic/dampers (b) (c) operate, the brakes of the armoured vehicle is at the same time also activated automatically so not to over-ride the explosion.
8. The Treyser can be fitted with mine detectors (t) (possibly three) in front of device connected to strut (w) , pivots on points (j)(l) with rollers (m) fitted on detectors (t) able to ride over small objects (o) lifting arm. (k), to give more flexibility over uneven ground without damaging mine detectors (t) and can be sensitive to soft or compacted terrain. Should wheels (a) go down more than horizontal with ground level, it triggers an alarm, and spray a dye on the spot indicating a suspect device, should it be a wired or remote controlled. All this is controlled inside cab giving a high sense of security.
9. The wheels (a) have a hard solid rubber band (g) (resistant to explosion) to give a smoother ride.
10. The supporting arms (x)(y)(w)(h) should be V shaped facing the ground so that any explosive force will shear-off and will not impede and catch the full force of the explosion.
11. The whole embodiment on strut (w) i.e., wheels (a), pillar (u) , hydraulic/damper (b) , pivots at point (i) 5-10 degrees, creating a higher efficiency approximately 70-90% (est.) with stops (q) (r) to restrict movement.
'12. A push button (s) fitted on top of strut (w) (for each wheel (a)) activates hydraulic damper (b) lifting arm (h) to inspect and examine for defects, distortion and rotation of each wheel (a) .
.13. Cameras (cam) can also be fitted on strut (w) to monitor terrain and mine detectors as they will be out of sight of drivers .
14. It may be worth stressing not to exceed speed limit as it could over-ride the IED.
15. The object of the device is to prevent foot soldiers from being fatally and seriously injured from hidden/unseen improvised explosive device - IEDs.
16. 'Treyser' a mine detecting and detonating device constructed by external arms (x)(y) pivots on point (z). The arms (h) that holds wheels (a) pivots on strut (w) , it also holds mine seeking detectors (t) that can be set in front of the device.
17. A mine detector/detonating device with respect to Claim para.
3, in which hydraulic/dampers (b)(c) integrated to give more added protective control, against an explosive blast that will stabilise and cushion the full force of IED, protecting the occupants inside the armoured vehicle.
18. The tie-rod (d) from one end of lever (e) to arm (h) can be positioned or adjusted to give wheels (a) a bigger lift when hydraulic/dampers (b) is activated.
19. The hydraulic/dampers (c) can be utilised to lift arm (y) when Treyser not in use.
20. Below a concise and definitive description function of device.
A mine clearing device, for attaching to a vehicle (Description para.3, Fig.3) comprising a plurality of wheels/rollers (3 depending on width of vehicle) for contacting a hidden explosive device (Description para. 1 and 6) in order to detonate the explosive device, the device further including a mine detection (Description para.3, Claim para.2) for detecting a hidden explosive device .
Alternatively, to elaborate and define feature and functions of device as illustrated above.
A mine clearing device attached to a vehicle (Claim para.l, Fig.3) designed to trace and detonate the improvised explosive device - IED, constructed round a structure combined on strut (w) integrated with plurality of wheels (a) (3, depending on width of vehicle) that has a tangible effect when making contact with an IED, such that it works in unison with sensors switch to activate the hydraulic/dampers (b) assistingt to raise and overcome weight of wheels (a) creating a large gap releasing explosive force to pass unimpeded; at the same time the hydraulic /damper (c) acts like a damper to cushion and stabilise the device. also. on strut (w) are mine detectors (t) ( Discription p ara.8, Claim para.4) ,with cameras (cam) fitted as an added feature to give a better and clear visual of terrain and observation as they are out of sight of drivers . (Discription para.13).
1. In Fig.3 the device is split into two sections (A) and (B) a n d are NOT interactive with each other, where hydraulic/dampers, (c) plays a crucial part to stabilise the device when contact is made with an IED,
Option: To improve, amend statement and drawing as appropriate.
