- EL spectra spectra before passing through the red color filter, the green color filter, the blue color filter, and the light control film.
- the emission spectrum Red EL emitted from the red light emitting layer 111 and the light emitted from the green light emitting layer 112 are shown.
- the emission spectrum Green EL and the emission spectrum Blue EL emitted from the blue light emitting layer 113 are shown.
- FIG. 8 is a graph showing the transmission characteristics of the red color filter, the green color filter, the blue color filter, and the light control film used in Examples 1 and 2 and Comparative Examples 1 and 2.
- the light control film transmission characteristic AR shown in this figure has a maximum visible light transmittance of 80% or more, a minimum value of 50% or less, wavelengths of 550 nm to 575 nm and wavelengths of 585 nm to 60%. It exists in the range of 620 nm, and it exists in the wavelength range of 570 nm to 600 nm indicating the minimum value of transmittance.
- FIG. 9 is a graph showing the fluorescent lamp spectrum used for calculating the external light reflectance in Examples 1 and 2 and Comparative Examples 1 and 2. In the figure, a spectrum indicating human visibility is also shown.
- the human visual sensitivity feels brightness around a wavelength of 555 nm. Therefore, reflection of light from the fluorescent lamp can be effectively suppressed by suppressing the spectrum in the wavelength range in which the human visibility is high in the incident fluorescent lamp spectrum.
- the organic EL display device 1 according to Example 1 has red chromaticity of (0.66, 0.34) and green chromaticity of (0.30, 0.65).
- 2 has a red chromaticity of (0.67, 0.33) and a green chromaticity of (0.28, 0.66). That is, compared with the red and green chromaticities of the organic EL display device 1, the red and green chromaticities of the organic EL display device 2 are improved.
- the transmittance is the transmittance between Examples 1 and 2 and Comparative Example 2 when the transmittance of Comparative Example 1 is 100%.
- the chromaticity was evaluated by the color filter (red color filter, blue color filter, green color filter) and spectrum after passing through the light control film. Good chromaticity means high color reproducibility.
- Example 1 compared to the number of steps of 4 in Comparative Example 1, the number of steps is halved twice.
- Example 1 and Example 2 can significantly reduce the manufacturing cost as compared with Comparative Example 1.
- Example 2 although the process of sticking a light control film is required, since this light control film is a solid film with substantially uniform thickness, patterning is unnecessary. Therefore, the increase in the manufacturing cost due to the provision of the light control film is very small compared to the increase in the manufacturing cost due to the provision of the color filter.
- Example 1 and Example 2 the black matrix is not provided at the position overlapping with the non-light emitting portion, and the material cost can be suppressed by substituting the red color filter and the blue color filter.
- the reflectance is low.
- the human visual sensitivity has a peak at 555 nm, and particularly has high sensitivity to light having a wavelength in the range of 500 nm to 630 nm.
- the light control film has a maximum visible light transmittance of 80% or more, a minimum value of 50% or less, wavelengths of 550 to 575 nm, and 585 to 60%.
- the wavelength that exists in the range of 620 nm and exhibits the minimum transmittance is in the range of 570 nm to 600 nm.
- the reflectance is expressed by (spectral intensity of incident light) ⁇ (transmittance) 2 , the reflectance can be greatly reduced by suppressing the transmittance. Therefore, by reducing the transmittance of light having a wavelength with high human visibility, the reflectance of light having the wavelength can be greatly reduced. In other words, the sensitivity of reflected light to the human eye can be effectively suppressed by making the transmittance of light having a wavelength high in human visibility lower than the transmittance of light of other wavelengths.
- the extraction efficiency of the emitted emission spectrum Red EL can be maintained in a high state.
- Example 1 Moreover, the following can be said by comparing Example 1 and Example 2.
- Example 2 the chromaticities of red and green are improved.
- the emission spectrum Green EL emitted from the green light emitting layer and the red light emitting layer shown in FIG. Suppresses light in the wavelength range where the emission spectrum Red EL is emitted.
- Example 1 and Example 2 the reflectance is greatly reduced. This is because in Comparative Example 2, since neither color filter nor black matrix is provided at a position overlapping the non-light emitting portion, reflection cannot be suppressed, whereas in Example 1 and Example 2, the red color filter and the blue color are not suppressed. This is because the color filter is provided so as to overlap.
- the combined transmittance of the red color filter and the blue color filter provided in the position overlapping with the non-light emitting portion in Example 1 and Example 2 will be described.
- the combined transmittance when a red color filter and a green color filter are stacked and the combined transmittance when a green color filter and a blue color filter are stacked are also described.
- the combined transmittance is the transmittance of light transmitted through a set in which a plurality of filters are stacked.
- FIG. 11 is a graph showing the combined transmittance of the red color filter and the blue color filter.
- the synthetic transmittance without the light control film which is the configuration of Example 1 and the synthetic transmittance with the light control film which is the configuration of Example 2 are shown.
- a dark background region indicates a wavelength range (500 to 630 nm) where human visibility is high.
- the combined transmittance of the red color filter and the blue color filter is 25% or less in the wavelength range of 500 to 630 nm regardless of the presence or absence of the light control film.
- the lamination of the red color filter and the green color filter and the lamination of the green color filter and the blue color filter sufficiently suppress reflection of external light because of the high combined transmittance.
- Example 1 and Example 2 the reflection of external light is sufficiently suppressed by overlapping the red color filter and the blue color filter at the position overlapping the non-light emitting portion.
- the reflectances of Examples 1 and 2 are comparable to those of Comparative Example 1 having a black matrix. That is, in the organic EL display devices of Examples 1 and 2, the red color filter and the blue color filter are overlapped on the position overlapping the non-light emitting portion, thereby sufficiently reflecting the reflected light in the non-light emitting portion without providing a black matrix. Can be suppressed.
- the bank 104 the first subbank 141, the second subbank 142, and the third subbank 143
- reflection of external light in the bank 104 can be suppressed. Therefore, compared with a configuration in which a black matrix is provided at a position corresponding to the bank 104, the contrast is comparable. Furthermore, since it is not necessary to provide a black matrix, the material cost can be reduced. Furthermore, since the manufacturing process for forming the black matrix is not necessary, the manufacturing cost can be reduced.
- the blue color filter 107 and the red color filter 108 are overlapped at positions corresponding to all of the first subbank 141, the second subbank 142, and the third subbank 143.
- the reflectance in the bank 104 can be made uniform in any region of the display unit. That is, the brightness of the bank 104 is uniform. As a result, uneven display contrast can be prevented.
- the organic EL display devices 1 and 2 according to the first and second embodiments of the present invention can realize high display quality at low cost.
- the organic EL display device of the present invention has been described based on the embodiment.
- the present invention is not limited to this embodiment. Unless it deviates from the meaning of this invention, what made the various deformation
