Definitions
- the present invention relates to a hybrid power supply system of a solar cell or a fuel cell and a secondary battery such as a lithium ion battery.
- the amount of power that can be generated by the solar cell is determined by the amount of light irradiation. For example, the amount of power generation when there is no light irradiation is zero.
- the power source that drives the electronic device is required to have electric power according to the operating state of the electronic device regardless of the amount of light irradiation. Therefore, it is obvious that a power source that stably drives an electronic device cannot be configured with only solar cells.
- a hybrid power source system that combines a solar cell and a secondary cell and uses the secondary cell as a power buffer is known.
- the solar cell when the power generation amount of the solar cell exceeds the electric power for driving the electronic device, the secondary battery is charged and the surplus power generated by the solar cell is stored in the secondary battery.
- the power generation amount of the solar battery is lower than the power for driving the electronic device, the secondary battery is discharged and the electronic device is driven by the solar battery and the secondary battery.
- a hybrid power supply system of a solar cell and a secondary battery can realize both stable power supply and downsizing of the solar cell, and is a very effective system for electronic devices aiming at downsizing and portability.
- portable electronic devices such as personal computers and mobile phones
- power consumption tends to increase with the increase in functionality and functionality, and next-generation power sources for portable electronic devices that can respond to this trend.
- fuel cells are expected. In a fuel cell, fuel is supplied to the negative electrode (anode) side to oxidize the fuel, air or oxygen is supplied to the positive electrode (cathode) side to reduce oxygen, and the fuel cell as a whole oxidizes the fuel and oxygen. A reduction reaction occurs.
- the fuel cell has a feature that it can continue to be used as a power source by replenishing fuel unless it fails.
- Various types of fuel cells have been proposed, but polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFC) that use hydrogen ion conducting polymer membranes as electrolytes are not subject to the possibility of electrolytes scattered in solids or other types. It can be operated at a temperature lower than that of a fuel cell, for example, a temperature of about 30 ° C. to 130 ° C., and is suitable as a portable power source because it has a short startup time.
- As the fuel for the fuel cell various combustible substances such as hydrogen and methanol can be used.
- gaseous fuel such as hydrogen is not suitable for miniaturization and weight reduction because a high-pressure container for storage or a hydrogen storage alloy is required.
- liquid fuel such as methanol has an advantage that it can be easily stored.
- a fuel cell that extracts hydrogen from liquid fuel by a reformer is not suitable for miniaturization because the structure is complicated.
- a direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) that is supplied directly to the anode and reacted without reforming methanol is easy to store fuel, has a simple structure, and is easy to downsize.
- DMFCs Conventionally, many DMFCs have been studied as a kind of PEFC in combination with PEFC, and are most highly expected as a power source for portable electronic devices.
- FIG. 4 is a graph for explaining the operation of the power supply system based on the current-voltage characteristics of the fuel cell and the secondary battery.
- the voltages of the fuel cell and the secondary battery shown in FIG. 4 are not those of a single cell, but are voltages of a battery stack in which a plurality of batteries are connected in series. Further, since the discharge current of the secondary battery Ir is positive (Ir> 0), the current Ir is negative (Ir ⁇ 0) when charging is performed. As shown in FIG. 4, the current-voltage curve of the fuel cell has a sigmoid shape, and the generated voltage decreases relatively greatly as the generated current increases. This is because in a fuel cell, activation polarization, resistance polarization, and diffusion polarization appear in order as the generated current increases.
- the current-voltage curve of a secondary battery such as a lithium ion battery has high linearity, and when the discharge current increases, the discharge voltage gradually decreases due to resistance polarization, but the slope is relatively small and the internal resistance is small. . The same is true at the time of charging. Although the charging voltage gradually increases as the charging current increases, the gradient is small.
- the open-circuit voltage Vr0 of the secondary battery varies depending on the state of charge of how much the secondary battery is charged. In this power supply system, when there is no external load, all the electric power generated by the fuel cell is used for charging the secondary battery.
- the voltage at this time is Vc
- the magnitude of the generated current of the fuel cell is Ifc
- the magnitude of the charging current of the secondary battery is -Irc
- Ifc -Irc Therefore, the voltage Vc is determined as a voltage (> Vr0) satisfying this relationship in FIG.
- the external load is not zero but small
- a part of the power generated by the fuel cell is used for driving the load, and the surplus power is used for charging the secondary battery.
- the voltage at this time is smaller than Vc and larger than Vr0.
- the load is larger and the voltage is smaller than Vr0, the secondary battery is discharged, and the load is driven by the fuel cell and the secondary battery.
- the current-voltage curves of the two batteries need to intersect in an appropriate region as shown in FIG.
- the current supplied from the fuel cell and the secondary battery is as shown in FIG. , If1 and Ir1, respectively. Since If1> Ir1, electric power is mainly supplied from the fuel cell.
- the currents supplied from the fuel cell and the secondary battery are If2 and Ir2, respectively, as shown in FIG. Since If2 ⁇ Ir2, in this case, the power supplied from the secondary battery exceeds the power supplied from the fuel cell.
- the generated current from the fuel cell only increases from If1 to If2, whereas from the secondary battery It can be seen that the discharge current greatly increases from Ir1 to Ir2, and most of the power consumption that increases during this period is supplied from the secondary battery. Further, if the increase in power consumption is paid only by the fuel cell, as can be seen from FIG. 4, the power generation voltage of the fuel cell decreases below the minimum voltage that can drive the load. As described above, in the case where the power source is configured by only the fuel cell, it is necessary to increase the size of the fuel cell so that the generated voltage exceeding the minimum drive voltage can be maintained.
- the fuel cell when a hybrid power source is configured by connecting a secondary battery having an excellent output density in parallel with the fuel cell, the fuel cell can be reduced in size, and thus the entire power supply system can be reduced in size.
- the current-voltage curves of the fuel cell and the secondary battery need to intersect in an appropriate region, and the system characteristics are completely determined by these current-voltage characteristics.
- the characteristics of the solar cell or fuel cell and the characteristics of the secondary cell are mutually constrained, Since the characteristics when charging the secondary battery and the characteristics when discharging are mutually constrained, there is a limit to the improvement in energy efficiency, stability, and convenience.
- the energy efficiency is governed by the characteristics of each battery and the state of charge of the secondary battery, and the stability is greatly influenced by changes over time in the characteristics of each battery.
- various charging methods such as high efficiency charging and rapid charging.
- prevention of secondary battery overcharging is a very important issue. For example, when a lithium ion battery is used as the secondary battery, there is a risk of smoke, fire, or in some cases explosion if overcharged. Since solar cells generate electric power when irradiated with light, some mechanism is required to always detect the state of charge of the secondary battery and stop charging when full charge is reached.
- FIG. 5A is a schematic diagram showing the configuration of the power supply device 100.
- a solar battery cell 101 that receives sunlight and generates power is connected to an electric double layer capacitor 103 via a backflow prevention diode 102.
- the electric power generated by 101 is temporarily stored in the capacitor 103.
- the electric power stored in the capacitor 103 is converted into an appropriate voltage by the DC / DC converter 105 and then supplied to the load 104 and the secondary battery 106.
- the power supply device 100 is characterized by a current control circuit 107 provided between the DC / DC converter 105, the secondary battery 106, and the load 104.
- the current control circuit 107 and the secondary battery 106 are connected to each other. Between them, an overcurrent prevention circuit 108 is provided.
- FIG. 5B is a schematic diagram of the current control circuit 107 exemplified in Patent Document 2.
- the current control circuit 107 is configured in the same manner as a general series regulator control circuit. That is, the dividing resistors 111 and 112 divide the output voltage to provide the reference voltage Vref1.
- the constant voltage diode 113 generates a reference voltage.
- the control transistor 114 and its load resistor 115 amplify the difference between the reference voltage (strictly, the sum of the reference voltage and the base-emitter voltage of the control transistor 114) and the reference voltage Vref1, and depending on the magnitude thereof
- the operation of the power transistor 116 is controlled.
- the power transistor 116 is inserted in series with the load 104, and its conductivity is controlled by the control transistor 114 so that its output voltage is constant.
- a specific configuration of the overcurrent prevention circuit 108 is not disclosed in Patent Document 2. In the power supply device 100, when the generated power of the solar battery cell 101 exceeds the power for driving the load 104, the secondary battery 106 is charged with the surplus power.
- the overcurrent prevention circuit 108 stops charging the secondary battery 106. Therefore, the secondary battery 106 is not overcharged. At this time, since the surplus power is accumulated in the electric double layer capacitor 103, the voltage of the capacitor 103 increases. As a result, even if the output voltage of the DC / DC converter 105 rises, the voltage applied to the load 104 is controlled to a predetermined voltage by the current control circuit 107, so that an excessive voltage is applied to the load 104. Absent. In this case, the surplus power generated by the solar battery cell 101 loses its place, so there is a concern that the voltage of the capacitor 103 will increase due to the accumulation of surplus power.
- Patent Document 2 describes that the surplus power is consumed by the control transistor 114 and its load resistor 115, so that the voltage increase of the capacitor 103 can be suppressed.
- Patent Document 3 described later, seven types of devices are shown as power supply devices that can make maximum use of electric power obtained from solar cells under any weather conditions.
- FIG. 6 is a schematic diagram showing the configuration of two types of power supply devices related to the present invention.
- the solar cell module 201 is connected to the load 203 and the secondary battery 204 via the backflow prevention diode 202.
- the power supply device 200 is characterized in that the sum of the voltage of the forward voltage drop of the backflow prevention diode 202 and the voltage of the secondary battery 204 is substantially equal to the optimum operating voltage of the solar cell module 201.
- the power supply device 200 when the generated power of the solar cell module 201 exceeds the power for driving the load 203, the secondary battery 204 is charged by the surplus power, but the configuration is as described above. Therefore, the electric power obtained from the solar cell module 201 can be utilized to the maximum extent.
- a shunt regulator 207 is connected in parallel with the load 203 and the secondary battery 204.
- the shunt regulator 207 is controlled by a reference voltage Vref1 obtained by dividing the output voltage by the dividing resistors 205 and 206, and the maximum value of the output voltage is smaller than a predetermined overcharge voltage that causes overcharge of the secondary battery 204. It is set to suppress the voltage. In the power supply device 200, while the secondary battery 204 is not fully charged and the secondary battery 204 is normally charged with surplus power, the output voltage is maintained at a voltage smaller than the overcharge voltage by charging. Therefore, the voltage limitation by the shunt regulator 207 is not performed.
- the power generated by the solar cell module 201 is converted into an appropriate voltage by the DC / DC converter 301 and then supplied to the load 203 and the secondary battery 204.
- the power supply device 300 is characterized in that dividing resistors 302 and 303 that divide the output voltage of the solar cell module 201 and provide the reference voltage Vref2 are provided on the input side of the DC / DC converter 301.
- the reference voltage Vref2 and the built-in reference The difference from the voltage is amplified by the error amplifier 304, and the operation of the DC / DC converter is controlled based on the magnitude thereof, so that the output voltage of the solar cell module 201 is maintained at the optimum operating voltage. .
- the dividing resistors 205 and 206 that divide the output voltage and give the reference voltage Vref1, and the reference voltage Vref1 and the reference voltage are compared to overcharge the secondary battery 204.
- a comparator 305 for detecting is provided, and an AND circuit for stopping the operation of the converter when an overcharge is detected by the comparator 305 is provided in the DC / DC converter. Therefore, the output voltage of the DC / DC converter 301 is kept at a predetermined voltage lower than the voltage causing the overcharge of the secondary battery 204, and the secondary battery 204 is not overcharged.
- Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 10-40931 pages 2 and 7, FIGS. 1 and 4) Japanese Patent Laying-Open No. 2005-210776 (5th page, especially paragraph 0031, FIGS. 1 and 3) Japanese Patent Laying-Open No. 2006-67759 (pages 5, 6 and 10-13, FIGS. 1-4 and 15-18)
- Patent Document 2 describes that surplus power is consumed by the control transistor 114 and its load resistor 115, but it is impossible to expect the current capacity of the control transistor 114 to be comparable to that of the power transistor 116. Assuming that a transistor having a current capacity comparable to that of the power transistor 116 is used as the control transistor 114, all surplus power is shunted (shunted) through the control transistor 114 and its load resistor 115, converted into heat and discarded.
- the surplus power will not be accumulated, but even when the secondary battery 106 is not fully charged, a large amount of power is consumed through the control transistor 114 and the load resistor 115, and the power supply performance is unacceptable. Worse. Therefore, in the power supply device 100, when the secondary battery 106 is in a fully charged state, surplus power generated by the solar battery cell 101 cannot be taken out, and the energy conversion efficiency of the solar battery cell 101 is effectively reduced. As a result, there arises a problem that the temperature of the solar battery cell 101 becomes too high.
- the power that is lost in the charging process of the secondary battery 204 increases.
- the energy efficiency of the system is reduced.
- the output voltage of the solar cell module 201 becomes lower than the voltage of the secondary battery 204 due to a change in operating conditions such as cloudy weather, the power for driving the load 203 is exclusively supplied from the secondary battery 204, and the solar cell module There may also be a situation where the power generated by 201 is not used at all.
- a hybrid power supply system that combines a solar cell or a fuel cell and a secondary battery and uses the secondary battery as a power buffer, and changes in the state of charge of the secondary battery, changes in operating conditions, and aging of members High energy efficiency can be maintained even if there is a change, and overcharge of the secondary battery is prevented, and thermal degradation of the solar cell due to generation of excess power that cannot be taken out or elution of the cathode catalyst in the fuel cell A hybrid power supply system that can be suppressed has not been proposed yet.
- the present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems, and an object of the present invention is to combine a solar cell or a fuel cell with a secondary battery, and use the secondary battery as a power buffer.
- an object of the present invention is to combine a solar cell or a fuel cell with a secondary battery, and use the secondary battery as a power buffer.
- it is possible to maintain high energy efficiency, and further prevent overcharge of the secondary battery, and
- the present invention A solar cell module or a fuel cell module; After the solar cell module or the fuel cell module is connected to the input side, the load and the secondary battery are connected to the output side, and the generated power generated by the solar cell module or the fuel cell module is converted to an appropriate voltage DC voltage conversion means for supplying the load and the secondary battery; The secondary battery connected in parallel with the load on the output side of the DC voltage conversion means; When the secondary battery is connected in parallel with the secondary battery on the output side of the DC voltage conversion means, and the secondary battery is substantially fully charged, surplus power that is not consumed by the load among the generated power
- the present invention relates to a hybrid power supply system having a shunt circuit that converts substantially all heat into heat and discards it.
- the “substantially fully charged state” of “the secondary battery is substantially fully charged” means almost the same as the fully charged state in addition to the fully charged state in a strict sense. It means that it also includes a charged state in which electric power is accumulated and the performance required for the hybrid power supply system can be realized in the same manner as a fully charged state, that is, a charged state that is considered to be almost equivalent to the fully charged state in terms of system performance .
- “substantially all surplus power” means “substantially all of the surplus power” is a circuit that is necessary for normal operation of the circuit, such as a resistance for short circuit prevention, a resistance for voltage detection, and a control circuit. It means “all except the power that is inevitably consumed”.
- the power generated by the solar cell module or the fuel cell module is supplied to the load and the secondary battery connected in parallel. And when the generated electric power exceeds the electric power which drives the said load, the said secondary battery is charged and surplus electric power is stored in the said secondary battery. On the other hand, when the generated power is lower than the power for driving the load, the secondary battery is discharged, and the load is driven by the solar cell module or the fuel cell module and the secondary battery. As a result, the solar cell module or the fuel cell module does not need to correspond to the maximum power consumption of the load, and it is only necessary to supply the power consumption of the load as an average. The size of the fuel cell module can be reduced.
- the hybrid power supply system of the present invention is characterized by having the DC voltage converting means, which converts the generated power into an appropriate voltage and then supplies it to the load and the secondary battery.
- the DC voltage converting means which converts the generated power into an appropriate voltage and then supplies it to the load and the secondary battery.
- the hybrid power supply system of the present invention is characterized in that, when connected to the output side of the DC voltage converting means in parallel with the secondary battery, and when the secondary battery is fully charged, Of these, the shunt circuit shunts the surplus power that is not consumed by the load by converting substantially all of it into heat. Therefore, the secondary battery is not overcharged. In addition, surplus power cannot be taken out from the solar cell module or the fuel cell module. As a result, when the solar cell module is used, the conversion efficiency into electric power is effectively reduced and the temperature is increased, so that the thermal deterioration of the solar cell module is not accelerated. In addition, when the fuel cell is used, the cathode potential of the fuel cell does not increase and deterioration due to elution of the cathode catalyst is not accelerated.

- FIG. 6 is a schematic diagram showing a configuration of a power supply device using a solar cell proposed in Patent Document 3. As shown in FIG.
- the output voltage of the DC voltage converting means is set slightly higher than the voltage of the secondary battery.
- the DC voltage conversion means may control the input side voltage to the optimum operating voltage of the solar cell module or the fuel cell module or the vicinity thereof.
- the shunt circuit is constituted by a constant voltage diode, and the Zener voltage has such a magnitude that the secondary battery can be substantially fully charged. The voltage should not be large enough to cause an overcharged state of the secondary battery.
- the shunt circuit is constituted by a plurality of diodes connected in series, and the sum of the forward voltage drops of each diode makes the secondary battery substantially fully charged.
- the voltage be such that the voltage is large enough not to cause an overcharged state of the secondary battery.
- the shunt circuit is constituted by a shunt regulator circuit having a shunt path composed of transistors, and the shunt regulator circuit allows the voltage applied between the terminals of the secondary battery.
- the maximum value should be limited to a voltage that is large enough to make the secondary battery fully charged and does not cause an overcharged state of the secondary battery. .
- the maximum value of the voltage limited by the shunt regulator circuit is set by comparing the reference voltage obtained by dividing the voltage with a dividing resistor and the internal reference voltage of the shunt regulator circuit. It is good to be.
- the solar cell may be a dye-sensitized solar cell.
- FIG. 1A is a schematic diagram showing a configuration of a hybrid power supply system 10 based on the first embodiment.
- the hybrid power supply system 10 includes a solar cell module 1, a DC / DC converter 2, which is the DC voltage conversion means, a secondary battery 4, a resistor 5, and a constant voltage diode 6.
- the solar cell module 1 is a DC / DC converter.
- the load 3 and the secondary battery 4 are connected in parallel to the output side of the DC / DC converter 2.
- the electric power generated by the solar cell module 1 is converted into an appropriate voltage by the DC / DC converter 2 and then supplied to the load 3 and the secondary battery 4.
- the secondary battery 4 is charged and surplus generated power is stored in the secondary battery 4.
- the secondary battery 4 is discharged, and the solar battery module 1 and the secondary battery 4 drive the load 3.
- the output voltage of the DC / DC converter 2 is preferably set slightly higher than the voltage of the secondary battery 4. In such a case, loss when charging the secondary battery 4 can be minimized. Moreover, when discharging the secondary battery 4, both the solar cell module 1 and the secondary battery 4 can be used effectively. Since the hybrid power supply system 10 includes the DC / DC converter 2, such fine control is possible and high energy efficiency can be realized.
- the hybrid power supply system 10 has a constant voltage diode 6 connected in parallel with the secondary battery 4 as the shunt circuit on the output side of the DC / DC converter 2 as a feature thereof.
- the zener voltage of the constant voltage diode 6 is such a voltage that the secondary battery 4 can be substantially fully charged and does not cause an overcharged state of the secondary battery 4. .
- the hybrid power supply system 10 performs two different operations depending on the state of charge of the secondary battery 4. That is, if the secondary battery 4 does not reach a substantially fully charged state, surplus power is consumed by charging the secondary battery 4, and therefore the voltage between the terminals of the secondary battery 4 is sufficiently smaller than the fully charged voltage. Is maintained and does not exceed the zener voltage. At this time, only a slight reverse leakage current flows through the constant voltage diode 6, and most of the surplus power is used for charging the secondary battery 4.
- the secondary battery 4 when the secondary battery 4 reaches a substantially fully charged state, the surplus power is not consumed and accumulated by charging, so the voltage between the terminals of the secondary battery 4 starts to increase rapidly, and the Zener voltage Try to exceed. At this time, a Zener current immediately flows through the constant voltage diode 6 and the current flowing through the resistor 5 increases. As a result, the voltage drop in the resistor 5 increases, so that the voltage between the terminals of the secondary battery 4 is kept at the Zener voltage. Due to the voltage limiting action of the constant voltage diode 6, the charging of the secondary battery 4 automatically stops when the voltage between the terminals reaches the Zener voltage, and the secondary battery 4 is not overcharged.
- the solar cell of the solar cell module 1 is preferably a dye-sensitized solar cell. As described above, since the dye-sensitized solar cell is likely to be thermally deteriorated and it is necessary to suppress the temperature rise, the present invention can be suitably applied. Further, in the present embodiment, an example in which the power source is a solar cell module has been described.
- the present invention is also applied to a passive fuel cell having no means for controlling the supply of fuel. It can be suitably applied.
- the fuel cell is not limited, but is particularly preferably a direct methanol fuel cell suitable as a power source for portable devices.
- the secondary battery may be a lithium ion battery. Lithium ion batteries are most preferred as secondary batteries used in this system because they have a higher output density and less loss due to the difference between the charge voltage and discharge voltage compared to nickel hydride batteries and nickel cadmium batteries.
- the full charge voltage of a lithium ion battery is approximately 4.0 to 4.2 V, although it varies depending on the composition of the electrode.
- the overcharge voltage is a level obtained by adding 0.1 to 0.2 V to the full charge voltage.
- the Zener voltage of the constant voltage diode 6 is preferably about 4.1 to 4.2 V.
- the Zener voltage is 4.2 V
- the lithium ion battery can be charged to a fully charged state.
- the zener voltage is 4.1 V or more and less than 4.2 V
- the lithium ion battery cannot be charged to a fully charged state in a strict sense, but accumulates almost the same power as the fully charged state, and the hybrid
- the performance required for the power supply system 10 can be realized in a substantially full charge state that can be realized in the same manner as the full charge state.
- FIG. 1B is a schematic diagram showing a configuration of a hybrid power supply system 11 based on a modification of the first embodiment.
- This example corresponds to claim 5 and is an example in which a plurality of diodes 7 connected in series in the forward direction are provided in place of the constant voltage diode 6 as the shunt circuit.
- the sum of the forward voltage drops of the respective diodes is such a voltage that the secondary battery 4 can be substantially fully charged and does not cause an overcharged state of the secondary battery 4. It is.
- the hybrid power supply system 11 when the secondary battery 4 is in a fully charged state and the output voltage of the DC / DC converter 2 tries to exceed the voltage causing overcharge, a forward current immediately flows through the diode array 7, and the hybrid power supply The same effect as the system 10 can be obtained.
- FIG. 2 is a schematic diagram showing a configuration of hybrid power supply system 20 based on the second embodiment.
- the hybrid power supply system 20 includes a solar cell module 1, a DC / DC converter 2 that is the DC voltage conversion means, a secondary battery 4, a resistor 5, divided resistors 21 and 22, and a shunt regulator circuit 23.
- a shunt regulator circuit 23 is used instead of the constant voltage diode 6 as the shunt circuit, and divided resistors 21 and 22 are provided. Since other than these are the same as the hybrid power supply system 10, differences will be mainly described.
- the shunt regulator circuit 23 includes a shunt path composed of a transistor 24 connected in parallel to the secondary battery 4, a reference voltage generator 25 that generates a reference voltage Vs, an error amplifier 26, and the like. It is constituted by.
- the dividing resistors 21 and 22 divide the voltage between the terminals of the secondary battery 4 and give a reference voltage Vref1 to be applied to the reference voltage terminal REF.
- Vref1 is smaller than Vs
- the difference is amplified by the error amplifier 26 and applied to the base terminal of the transistor 24, so that the transistor 24 is completely turned off.
- Vref1 is larger than Vs, the difference is amplified by the error amplifier 26 and applied to the base terminal of the transistor 24.
- Vmax can make the secondary battery 4 substantially fully charged, and the secondary battery 4 is overcharged. It is set to a size that will not be allowed.
- the hybrid power supply system 20 performs two different operations depending on the state of charge of the secondary battery 4. That is, if the secondary battery 4 does not reach a substantially fully charged state, surplus power is consumed by charging the secondary battery 4, and therefore the voltage between the terminals of the secondary battery 4 is sufficiently smaller than the fully charged voltage. Is maintained and never exceeds Vmax. At this time, Vref1 ⁇ Vs Therefore, the transistor 24 is in a completely off state.
- Vref1 Vs Is kept equal to Vmax, that is, Vmax. Due to the voltage limiting action by the shunt regulator circuit 23, the charging of the secondary battery 4 is automatically stopped when the voltage between the terminals reaches Vmax, and the secondary battery 4 is not overcharged. In addition, surplus power is shunted (shunted) through the transistor 24, converted into heat by the resistance of the transistor 24, and discarded.
- Vmax is preferably about 4.2 V.
- the transistor 24 may be a field effect transistor.
- the shunt regulator circuit 23 may be constituted by discrete components, but it is convenient to use a commercially available shunt regulator IC (integrated circuit) element. Alternatively, the resistor connected in series and the transistor 24 may be connected in parallel with the secondary battery 4 so that a part of the surplus power is changed to heat by the resistor. This is desirable because heat generation in the transistor 24 is reduced.
- the hybrid power supply system 20 can be configured as in the first embodiment.
- the system 20 using the shunt regulator circuit 23 is the most practical system in which Vmax can be set accurately and energy energy loss is small.
- FIG. 3A is a schematic diagram showing a configuration of a hybrid power supply system 30 based on the third embodiment of the present invention.
- the hybrid power supply system 30 includes a solar cell module 1, a DC / DC converter 31 that is the DC voltage conversion means, a secondary battery 4, divided resistors 21 and 22, and a shunt regulator circuit 23.
- a DC / DC converter 31 is used instead of the DC / DC converter 2 used in the hybrid power supply systems 10 and 20, and the resistor 5 is omitted. Since other than these are the same as the hybrid power supply system 20, differences will be mainly described.
- the output voltage of the DC / DC converter 2 is set slightly higher than the voltage of the secondary battery 4. In this case, the voltage on the input side of the DC / DC converter 2 can be controlled to some extent by limiting the output current, but cannot usually be determined accurately.
- the output voltage is kept constant by the DC / DC converter 2, but the input side voltage is indefinite.
- the DC / DC converter 31 used in the hybrid power supply system 30 has a function of controlling the input side voltage to which the solar cell module 1 is connected to the optimum operating voltage of the solar cell module 1 or in the vicinity thereof. .

- the DC / DC converter 31 Provided to amplify the difference between the reference voltage and the built-in reference voltage by an error amplifier, and control the operation of the DC / DC converter based on the magnitude to maintain the input side voltage at a predetermined level Has been.
- LT3652 trade name; manufactured by Linear Technology Corporation
- the resistor 5 provided in the hybrid power supply systems 10 and 20 can be omitted.
- the output side voltage of the DC / DC converter 31 is the voltage of the secondary battery 4. It is automatically adjusted by the open circuit voltage, the internal resistance of the secondary battery 4 and the output impedance of the DC / DC converter 31.
- the transistor 24 is immediately turned on, and the output side voltage of the DC / DC converter 31 is kept equal to Vmax. The secondary battery 4 is not overcharged by the voltage limiting action of the shunt regulator circuit 23.
- FIG. 3B is a graph showing an example of the power generation characteristics of the solar cell module 1. Since the solar cell does not have a function of storing energy, in order not to waste the irradiated light, it is preferable to continue to generate power at as high an output as possible regardless of the required power of the load 3. Therefore, in the solar cell module 1 having the power generation characteristics shown in FIG. 3B, it is preferable to operate so that the power generation voltage is always constant at about 4.1V.
- the solar cell module 1 is irradiated. Light can be converted to electric power with maximum efficiency.
- this invention was demonstrated based on embodiment, it cannot be overemphasized that the above-mentioned example can be suitably changed in the range which does not deviate from the main point of invention based on the technical idea of this invention.

Abstract
Description
Ifc=−Irc
Q0=(1−η0)W
Q=(1−η)W
太陽電池では、発電に伴う劣化や光劣化や熱劣化など、様々な劣化原因が考えられるが、色素増感太陽電池では、温度上昇によって熱劣化が早く進行することが報告されている(特開2005−158621号公報、および、P.M.Sommeling,M.Spath,H.J.P.Smit,N.J.Bakker,J.M.Kroon,“Long−term stability testing of dye−sensitized solar cells”,Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology.A.Chemistry,164(1−3),(2004),137−144参照。)。

Vref1=Vs
Vmax=(R21/R22+1)Vs
Vref1=Vs
