Definitions
- the invention relates to a catheter set comprising a catheter, in particular suitable for self-catheterization, having a hydrophilic surface, wherein the catheter together with a wetting fluid is ready for use in a liquid-tight, tube-like, use packaging.
- catheters or catheter sets are known in many different ways from the practice.
- the catheters in question are predominantly used for self-catheterization and are regularly used by people with limited or no longer existing bladder function, such as paraplegics.
- hydrophilic surface / coating catheters are either provided in the dry state and must be wetted or contacted with wetting liquid to effect the ready-to-use state. This can be done by adding wetting liquid into the use packaging or liberating wetting liquid from a container disposed within the use packaging. In both cases, an exposure time to activate the hydrophilic surface is required.
- Ready-to-use catheters are also already being offered insofar as they are provided within the use packaging in the hydrated state.
- the catheter is thus in a bath of wetting fluid.
- This requires a very special use packaging, namely a liquid and gas-tight use packaging, namely to avoid wetting liquid evaporated and the interior of the use of packaging - with the catheter - dries out. If the use packaging is not impermeable to gas, the durability or storability of the catheter set is considerably reduced.
- gas-impermeable consumer packaging requires very special design measures, namely with respect to the material of the use packaging. Nearly 100% gas-tightness can only be achieved by means of a suitably designed barrier, namely, for example, by use packaging made of plastic with an aluminum lamination.
- a suitably designed barrier namely, for example, by use packaging made of plastic with an aluminum lamination.
- use packages have the great disadvantage that they are extremely stiff in itself. Consequently, such a use packaging can be used only for packaging purposes and handle only with difficulty. Due to the complex structure, the manufacturing cost - any use packaging - significant.
- the present invention is based on the object, a catheter set of the generic type to design and further develop that the use of packaging little effort in the production, easy to handle and on top of that for other purposes, away from the actual provision, is available.
- the above object is achieved by a catheter set having the features of patent claim 1.
- the generic catheter set is characterized in that the use of packaging is designed to be permeable to gas and that at least two consumer packs are housed together with each wetting catheter together with wetting liquid together in a gas-impermeable storage package.
- the gas permeability of each use packaging is compensated by accommodating a plurality of use packages - together - with catheters therein and with the wetting liquid in a gas-impermeable storage package.
- the catheters thus packaged can be stored for a longer period of time, namely because of the gas-impermeable storage packaging.
- the individual use packaging ie the packaging required for each individual catheter, can be easily generated, namely by a liquid-tight, but gas-permeable material.
- the material of the tube-like use packaging as thin and flexible as possible, namely after the opening of the use packaging the catheter in a simple way, without touching it, from the use package deploy, namely the fact that the use of packaging along the catheter shaft accordion-like inverted or pulled back, so that first the catheter tip and gradually the entire catheter shaft is exposed.
- the catheter is in a sterile condition in the use package.
- This means that the catheter is actually in the ready-to-use state in the use packaging, without having to perform a Sterilmaschinesvorgang or a sterilization.
- the catheter has been sterilized before or after its placement in the use package, according to a conventional method. It is basically possible to sterilize the catheter by the action of gas, by the action of temperature or by irradiation.
- the catheter has been sterilized before or after the contacting with wetting liquid, likewise according to a conventional method as described above. Any conceivable method of sterilizing the catheter is applicable.
- the use packaging is opened in the front area and can be the catheter by gathering the material of the catheter packaging gradually lead out of the use packaging or can the use of packaging to the catheter tip end facing away, fauxraffen or push together, causing the Catheter is gradually freed from the use packaging.
- the use packaging is designed such that the catheter with the catheter tip ahead is at least partially Radioschiebar or pulled out of the opened or torn-up use packaging. If the catheter is equipped with an end fitting, it can essentially be pulled out of the use packaging up to the connection piece and clamped there with the fitting. The connecting piece could expand conically towards the free end.
- the use packaging has a correspondingly adapted inner wall in the apparent area, so that when the catheter is pushed out, the connection piece can slide into this area and be clamped there in a sealing manner.
- the connector comes in the pulled-out state of the catheter for at least largely sealing engagement or in the use of packaging, namely such that the use of packaging as a tubular extension of the catheter for direct urine discharge, for example, in a toilet.
- packaging has a dual function, namely on the one hand, the function of sterile provision in liquid-tight design and on the other hand, the function of further urine diversion, namely from the bladder through the catheter and finally through the extension of the catheter forming use packaging through into a toilet.
- the outer layer of the film could consist of polyamide (PA) and the inner layer of polyethylene (PE).
- the film is made thin and flexible, so that they can effortlessly push together or collapse to release the catheter.
- the further function of the tube-like use packaging is favored, namely to the extent that it can be handled easily as an extension of the catheter, namely in accordance with the preceding statements.
- the storage package is used for longer-term storage or provision of multiple use packages with catheters located therein together with wetting liquid.
- the provision of the storage package allows the long-term storage of the catheter in a gas-impermeable Umverpackung, the storage package can be designed in the form of an elongated letter, bag or the like. For initial opening at a predetermined location this is preferably rupturable along an edge. For this purpose, a predetermined breaking point, a notch, perforation or other measures may be provided to favor the opening.
- the storage package can be opened / closed reversibly, preferably via a pressure bar or the like, in order to be able to continue to guarantee the gas impermeability of the storage package even after it has been opened for the first time.
- the storage package is particularly suitable as a transport packaging with several therein use packaging along with catheter.
- the storage package is dimensioned in a further advantageous manner such that it is suitable for receiving a plurality of use packaging, each with a catheter in the use package.
- a plurality of use packaging each with a catheter in the use package.
- 5 to 20 consumer packs can be accommodated in the storage package, depending on the size or design of the storage package.
- the storage package it is essential for the storage package that it is not only liquid-tight but also gas-tight, ie gas-impermeable.
- the storage package is made of aluminum laminating Made of plastic, namely, to ensure the required gas-tightness.

- FIG. 1 shows, in a schematic view, a catheter 2 located in a use-packaging 1, wherein the catheter 2 is a catheter with a hydrophilic coating 3.
- Fig. 1 further reveals that the catheter 2 is equipped with a special catheter tip 5. At the opposite end of the catheter 2, a connector 6 is provided.
- packaging 1 it should be noted that this is liquid-tight, but gas-permeable. Accordingly, it is possible to make these extremely thin, for example, from a laminated film in order to ensure the highest possible flexibility of the use of packaging.
- FIG. 2 shows, as part of an embodiment of a catheter set according to the invention, a bearing pack 7 which, as indicated in FIG. 2, comprises three use packs 1 each having a catheter 2 therein.
- the present in the storage package 7 use packaging 1 together with catheter are merely indicated.
- the storage package 4 is made of aluminum-laminated plastic and has the shape of a letter or a flat bag, so that the therein use packages 1 are arranged more or less next to each other.
- the storage package 7 is made gas-impermeable, so that due to the storage package 7 long-term storage of the catheter 2 is possible without the wetting liquid 4 volatilizes and thus the hydrophilic coating 3 dries out on the surface of the catheter 2.
- Fig. 2 further shows that the storage package 7 is re-closable after tearing along the upper edge 8, namely by an integrated pressure bar 9, which - similar to a zipper - includes interlocking elements. By squeezing the pressure bar 9 can be closed.
- FIG. 3 shows the catheter 2 in the state pulled out of the use packaging 1, the conically configured connection piece 6 being clamped in a correspondingly conically equipped connection region 10 of the use packaging 1.
- the tubular packaging 1 is an extension of the catheter 2 and can be used for urine discharge into a toilet.
