Abstract

본 발명은 불연 발포성 폴리스티렌 입자 및 그 제조방법, 그리고 이 입자로 제조된 불연성 스티로폴에 관한 것으로, 본 발명의 발포성 폴리스티렌 입자의 제조방법은, 입경 1~70μm인 불연성 물질 분말 10~60중량%를 발포성 폴리스티렌 입자에 첨가하고 교반하면서, 폴리스티렌의 용해성이 있는 용제와 물의 혼합물을 용제를 기준으로 0.5~10중량% 분사하여 발포성 폴리스티렌 입자의 표면층이 용해직전의 연화상태가 되도록 하여 불연성 물질 분말들이 입자의 표면층에 침투, 코팅되도록 하는 것으로 구성된다. 본 발명에 의해서 불연성, 충격강도, 굴곡강도가 극히 우수하며, 흡수율이 0.7(g/100cm2) 이내인 스티로폴을 얻을 수 있게 되었으며, 또한 불연성 스티로폴의 대량생산이 가능하게 되었다.
