Definitions
- the present invention relates to a dividing wall distillation column, and more particularly, to a dividing wall distillation column including a main column provided with a dividing wall, wherein the main column comprises a pressure equalization means between the preliminary separation region and the main separation region divided into the dividing walls. It relates to a dividing wall distillation column, characterized in that provided.
- distillation column n-1
- n-1 one distillation column which is one less than the number n of components of the mixture to be separated. That is, in the conventional distillation industry, the process for separating the three-component mixture uses a continuous two distillation column structure.
- the conventional process is a two- tower method in which the lowest boiling point component (D) is separated from the first tower 11 and the middle boiling point component (S) and the high boiling point component (B) are separated from the second tower 21.
- remixing of the middle boiling point (S) component generally occurs in the lower region of the first column.
- a representative example of improving the separation efficiency by the heat integration structure is the Petlyuk distillation column structure as shown in FIG.
- the pre-separator 12 and the main separator 22 are arranged in a thermally integrated structure to separate low-boiling components and high-boiling components from the pre-separator first, and then the top and bottom portions of the pre-separator are mainly separated. It is introduced into the feed stage of the separator to separate the low boiling point, middle boiling point, and high boiling point components in the main separator, respectively.
- This structure makes the energy distillation curve in the Petlyuk distillation column similar to the equilibrium distillation curve.
- the design and operation of the process is not easy, and in particular, it is difficult to balance the pressure in the distillation column.
- a dividing wall column (DWC) has been proposed.
- the dividing wall distillation column is similar to the Petlyuk distillation column in terms of thermodynamics, but from the structural point of view, the dividing wall is installed in the tower to integrate the preliminary separator of the Petlyuk distillation column into the main separator.
- This structure facilitates operation by relieving the pressure balance between the preliminary and main separators of the Petlyuk distillation column and the operational difficulties, and also reduces the investment cost by integrating the two distillation columns into one. It has a big advantage.
- the dividing wall distillation column preferably maintains a liquid split ratio of 1: 1 in two areas divided into dividing walls in view of ease of operation.
- the wall position can be designed to be biased toward the side rather than the center, but there are difficulties in manufacturing and installation.
- the present invention is to provide a dividing wall distillation column that is easy to operate by smoothly flowing the liquid / gas through the equal maintenance of the pressure drop in the pre-separation zone and the main separation zone.
- the present invention has been made to solve the above problems of the prior art,
- the main column provides a dividing wall distillation column, characterized in that it comprises a pressure equalization means between the preliminary separation region divided into the dividing wall and the main separation region.
- the means provides a dividing wall distillation column, characterized in that at least one of the pressure drop adjustment collector tray, or the separation wall spaced apart from the lowermost tray of the top section.
- the pressure drop collector tray provides a dividing wall distillation column, characterized in that provided in at least one or more of the upper outlet section or the bottom section, or at least one of the lower end of the upper outlet section or the top end of the top section.
- the pressure drop collector tray provides a dividing wall distillation column, characterized in that it comprises a nozzle of the size 10 ⁇ 30mm.
- the pressure drop collector tray provides a dividing wall distillation column, characterized in that it has a rising area in the range of 10 to 30% of the tray cross-sectional area.
- the separation distance of the dividing wall provides a dividing wall distillation column, characterized in that 10 to 90% range, more preferably 30 to 60% range of the distance between the lowermost tray of the column top section and the next column internal.
- the total pressure drop difference between the preliminary separation zone and the main separation zone provides a dividing wall distillation column, characterized in that less than 1 mmHg.
- the pressure drop between two regions divided by the dividing wall is equal, and thus the operation can be made more easily.
- 1 is a schematic representation of a conventional distillation process for the separation of a three component mixture.
- FIG. 2 is a schematic view showing a Petlyuk distillation column structure.
- Figure 3 is a schematic diagram showing the structure of a dividing wall distillation column of the present invention.
- FIG. 4 is a schematic view showing a comparative example.
- FIG. 5 is a schematic view showing an embodiment of the present invention.
- dividing wall distillation column comprising a main column having a dividing wall
- the main column is characterized in that it comprises a pressure equalization means between the pre-separation zone and the main separation zone divided into the dividing wall.
- the pressure equalization does not mean a perfect pressure equality numerically but refers to actual pressure equality.
- Effective pressure equality means “the pressure difference between the two regions is the same so as not to significantly affect the process flow”, and preferably means that the pressure drop difference is 1 mmHg or less.
- FIG. 3 A schematic structure of a dividing wall distillation column according to an embodiment of the present invention is illustrated in FIG. 3, and a structure of a main column according to an embodiment of the present invention is illustrated in FIG. 5.
- FIG. 5 A schematic structure of a dividing wall distillation column according to an embodiment of the present invention is illustrated in FIG. 3, and a structure of a main column according to an embodiment of the present invention is illustrated in FIG. 5.
- the present invention will be described with reference to one embodiment.
- Distillation column of one embodiment of the present invention may include a condenser 31 or / and reboiler 41 in addition to the main column.
- the condenser is a device that takes away the heat of vaporization of the gaseous mixture to condense, and can be used without limitation the condenser used in the conventional chemical engineering device.
- the reboiler is a device for providing vaporization heat to the mixture in the liquid state to vaporize, it can be used without limitation the reboiler used in the conventional chemical engineering device.
- the main tower 1 can be largely divided into six sections.
- Top section 100 refers to the area of the top of the main tower without a partition wall.
- the upper feed zone 200 is a region where one side is partitioned by the dividing wall and is a subregion located above the influent (raw) flow.
- the upper outlet area 300 is an area where one surface is partitioned by the dividing wall, and is a sub area located above the effluent flow.
- the lower feed zone 400 is an area where one side is partitioned by the dividing wall and is a sub area located below the influent flow.
- the lower outlet area 500 is an area where one surface is partitioned by the dividing wall, and is a sub area located below the effluent flow.
- the tower bottom region 600 refers to the lower region of the main tower without the dividing wall.
- the pylon may be divided into two regions.
- the upper feed zone and the lower feed zone play a role similar to that of a preliminary separator of a conventional process (a process using two distillation columns continuously), the upper feed zone and the lower feed zone may be collectively referred to as a preliminary separation zone.
- the upper outflow zone and the lower outflow zone serve as a main separator of a conventional process (a process using two distillation columns in series), and thus, the upper outflow zone and the lower outflow zone may be collectively referred to as a main separation zone.
- the main tower may be a packing tower including a packing (packing).
- the packed column has a perforated plate or lattice supporting tray fixed to the tower body, and a packing bed is formed by filling a packing with a layer of a suitable height thereon, and a liquid bed is usually liquid. distributor) is located between the charging beds.
- the packing is a solid with a large surface area and breathable, and gas-liquid contact occurs in the packed bed to perform distillation operation.
- As the material of the filling ceramics, graphite, metal, and the like are used.
- the means for equalizing the pressure substantially between the pre-separation zone and the main separation zone bisected by the dividing wall is separated from the collector tray for pressure drop adjustment and / or the lowermost tray of the top zone. It can be used as a wall.
- the pressure drop adjusting collector tray is used for the configuration of the stage obtained by the distillation process theoretical stage calculation method (in the present invention, the distillation process theoretical stage calculation method can be used without limitation to conventional methods known in the art).
- the collector tray is additionally provided for the purpose of pressure drop adjustment (typically, the collector tray is used for collecting liquid for liquid distribution for the purpose of side-draw). Device that serves as a donor, which is well known in the art).
- the pressure drop adjustment tray may be provided in the upper outlet area.
- the upper outlet zone may have a lower pressure drop relative to the pre-separation zone because the intermediate outlet NR2 is at the bottom. That is, since the amount of liquid decreases in the outflow intermediate stage NR2, the degree of pressure drop may be weaker.
- an additional collector tray may be installed in this portion to cause an additional pressure drop.
- the pressure drop adjusting collector tray is preferably provided at the lowermost end of the upper outlet area (that is, just above the outlet middle end NR2) in view of predicting and controlling the degree of pressure drop.
- the pressure drop control collector tray may be provided in the bottom area. As illustrated in FIG. 3, gaseous substance exchange between the preliminary separation zone and the main separation zone occurs around the separation wall through the bottom zone, and the pressure drop adjustment tray may be installed in the bottom zone to adjust the degree of pressure drop. (See FIG. 5). In particular, it is preferable that the collector tray for adjusting the pressure drop is provided at the top of the column bottom region in view of predicting and controlling the degree of pressure drop.
- the pressure drop adjusting tray includes a nozzle having a size of 10 to 30 mm. If the flow rate is less than 10 mm, the pressure drop is increased so that it may be difficult to uniformly distribute the liquid supplied from the liquid distributor. On the other hand, if it exceeds 30mm the liquid level (liquid level) exceeds the appropriate level, this may cause the overall pressure control is impossible.
- the pressure drop control collector tray preferably has a rise area (rise area) in the range of 10 to 30% of the tray cross-sectional area. If applied below 10%, the pressure drop is greatly increased, and if it exceeds 30%, the pressure drop is reduced, making overall pressure control difficult.
- the dividing wall is characterized in that spaced apart from the lowermost tray of the top section.
- the separation wall is in contact with the lowermost tray of the top section to divide the preliminary separation zone and the main separation zone.
- the material exchange between the preliminary separation zone and the main separation zone is not smooth, which is undesirable in terms of pressure equality. not. Therefore, in one embodiment of the present invention is to promote pressure equality by separating the lowermost tray of the top section and the separation wall.
- the separation distance of the separation wall is preferably in the range of 10 to 90% of the distance (d) between the lowermost tray of the top section and the next column internal (column internal).
- the "bottom tray of the top section” refers to a collector tray, a packing bed, a plate, etc. constituting the bottom of the top section, and "the next column internal” is located directly below the bottom tray of the top section.
- it may be 10 to 90% of the distance between the bottom of the top charging bed and the top of the charging bed immediately below it.
- More preferred spacing is in the range of 30-60%.
- the pylon has at least one inlet point and at least three outlet points.
- Raw material (F) flows into the inflow intermediate stage (NR1) in which the upper feed zone and the lower feed zone of the main column is in contact, the low boiling point component (D) flows out of the tower zone, and the high boiling point component (B) is the bottom of the tower.
- Outflow from the zone, the middle boiling point component (S) flows out to the outflow intermediate stage (NR2) in contact with the upper outlet zone and the lower outlet zone.
- the reason why the dividing wall distillation process requires less energy than the conventional continuous two-stage distillation process can be interpreted as a structural difference.
- the space divided by the dividing wall acts as a preliminary separator, so that the liquid composition is almost in line with the equilibrium distillation curve due to the separation of the high boiling point component and the low boiling point component, and the remixing effect is suppressed. Thermodynamic efficiency is improved.
- the upper feed zone and the lower feed zone play a similar role to the preliminary separator of the conventional process (ie, the upper feed zone and the lower feed zone may be collectively referred to as the pre-separation zone).
- the three components introduced into the preliminary separation zone are separated into low boiling point components and high boiling point components. A part of the low boiling point component and the high boiling point component separated in the preliminary separation zone flows into the top and bottom zones, and part of the low boiling point component and the high boiling point component flows back into the upper outflow zone and the lower outflow zone to be redistilled.
- the upper outlet zone and the lower outlet zone serve as the main separator of the conventional process (ie, the upper outlet zone and the lower outlet zone collectively may be referred to as the main separator zone).
- the main separator zone In the upper portion of the separation wall of the main separation region, the low boiling point component and the middle boiling point component are mainly separated, and in the lower part, the middle boiling point component and the high boiling point component are mainly separated.
- the low boiling point component passes through the tower column and condenser of the main tower, and part of it is produced as a low boiling point product (D), and the rest is returned to the tower column of the main column at the liquid flow rate (LD). After reboiling, part is produced as a high boiling point product (B) and the rest is refluxed back to the column bottom section of the pylon at gas phase flow rate (VB).
- the design of the combined column distillation column system with the dividing wall is based on the design of the existing combined column distillation column and the minimum tower design.
- the efficiency of the distillation column is maximum when the liquid composition distribution of the column distillation stage is similar to the equilibrium distillation curve, so the first stage distillation system is designed assuming that the distillation column is operated by conversion flow operation.
- the upper feed zone and the lower feed zone are designed, and the upper outlet zone and the lower outlet zone are designed by the stepwise equilibrium design method starting from the concentration of the mid boiling point product.
- the liquid composition in the tower was calculated from the middle of the tower to the top, and the lower outflow zone serving as the main separator was sequentially calculated by calculating the equilibrium composition from the middle of the tower to the bottom of the tower starting from the concentration of the intermediate boiling point product. .
- the upper feed zone and the lower feed zone serving as preliminary separators, and the upper outlet zone and lower outlet zone serving as the main separator, respectively I can find out. Since the number of stages of the tower obtained here is the theoretical number of stages, and the ideal number of stages, the number of stages in the actual tower is preferably 80 to 145% of the number of theoretical stages according to the usual design criteria. If less than 80% of the calculated theoretical number of low boiling point and high boiling point components in the preliminary separation zone may not be well separated, if more than 145% is the minimum reflux ratio area, the energy saving effect does not increase any more, only investment costs increase This is undesirable.
- the length of the dividing wall installed inside the main column is determined according to the number of stages calculated according to the distillation curves of the upper supply section and the lower supply section or the upper outlet section and the lower outlet section, respectively.
- the length of the dividing wall is preferably within the range of 30 to 85% of the total theoretical stage of the top section, the upper feed section, the bottom outlet section and the bottom section calculated by the distillation curve. If it is less than 30%, a part of the low boiling point component may fall down in the preliminary separation zone and be included as a product of the main separator, and if it is more than 85%, the liquid / gas and medium / high boiling point components of the low boiling point / medium boiling point component are inside the column. Difficult to maintain a good equilibrium flow of liquid / gas phase may have a problem in column manufacturing.
- the specific surface area of the applied filler was 250 m 2 / m 3 or more, the porosity was 0.98 or more, and the material was metal.
- the HETP (Height Equivalent of a Theoretical Plate) of the packed column is less than 450mm (the tower height is usually calculated from the theoretical number of stages and the equivalent height of one theoretical stage).
- the height of the packed bed was manufactured and installed in the range of 1000 ⁇ 7000mm depending on the location and role.
- the collector tray for adjusting the pressure drop was installed at the bottom of the upper outflow zone and the top of the bottom zone, respectively (two in total).
- the pressure drop collector tray was a nozzle size of 25 mm, the rising area was 25% of the cross-sectional area.
- the two pressure drop collector trays had the same nozzle size and raised area.
- the dividing wall is designed to be spaced 50% of the distance d between the lowermost tray (collector tray) of the top section and the next column internal (charging bed).
- a distillation column was designed and manufactured under the same conditions as in Example 1. However, the nozzle size of the pressure drop adjusting collector tray provided at the bottom of the upper outlet area was 15 mm and the rising area was 20% . The nozzle size of the pressure drop adjusting collector tray provided at the top of the top bottom area was 10 mm and the rising area was 20. It was%.
- the comparative example did not have a separate pressure drop adjusting collector tray, and the separation walls were not spaced apart.

- the distillation column according to the present invention can be seen that the pressure difference between the pre-separation zone and the main separation zone is less than the comparative example. Through this, it can be seen that the distillation column of the present invention can be made easier to operate than the conventional distillation column.
