Abstract

본 발명은 왕복 피스톤 엔진 및 그 작동 방법에 관한 것으로서, 커넥팅 로드와 크랭크축의 직교 위치 또는 상기 직교 위치와 근접한 위치에 피스톤이 도달될 때 연료폭발장치를 작동시켜 피스톤의 직선 운동 에너지를 크랭크축의 회전 운동 에너지로 최대한 많이 전환할 수 있다. 그리고, 상기 연료폭발장치의 작동 시점까지 압력유지장치가 연소실 내의 최대 압축 압력을 일정하게 유지시키므로, 연료 가스의 불완전 연소 및 팽창 손실을 방지할 수 있다. 한편, 피스톤 승강장치가 실린더의 상부에 배치된 제2 피스톤의 동작을 적절히 제어하여 연소실의 최대 압축 시점 및 최대 압축 압력을 최적화시킬 수 있고, 뿐만 아니라 밸브조절장치가 밸브와 연결된 캠의 형상을 제어하여 밸브의 밸브 개폐 시점 및 밸브 개폐 시간 등을 간편하게 조절할 수 있다.
