Abstract

The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for compulsorily restricting idling of an automobile engine. Especially, the apparatus and method for compulsorily restricting idling of an automobile engine are capable of automatically stopping the engine when an automobile engine is idling for a long time. According to the present invention, the apparatus for compulsorily restricting idling of an automobile engine comprises: a speed sensor which measures the speed of an automobile, a transmission-position sensor which detects the position of the transmission, a brake detecting sensor which detects operation state of the brake, a tilt angle sensor which measures the degree of tilt of the automobile, and a control unit which compulsorily stops or restarts the engine, based on the data measured in the speed sensor, transmission-position sensor, brake detecting sensor, and tilt angle sensor. The control unit does not compulsorily stop the engine when the tilt angle data measured in the tilt angle sensor exceeds a preset angle.
