Definitions
- a method for manufacturing the patterned glass intended especially for building the solar collectors and batteries and glasshouses
- the invention subject-matter is a method of manufacturing a patterned glass intended especially for building solar collectors and batteries and glasshouses and also for the furniture and building industry, with the glass fulfilling both the decorative and practical functions.
- polish patent application no. P-359791 is the method of forming the rolled patterned glass, which method consists in two- stage-forming of the pane of glass, the pane of glass being hot-formed using two backward smooth rollers in the first stage and then, in the second stage, using two backward smooth rollers, one of which is smooth and the second one has on its surface an engraved patterned motif which has been impressed on the yet plastic surface of the pane of glass.
- a method of forming the patterned glass under the trade name ,,Albarino consisting in the fact that the pane of smooth glass, after having been heated to plasticity temperature, is being formed on its surface, using the rolling method, to achieve a required rolled patterned glass.
- the roller is provided on its outer surface with the same patterned motif which has been impressed on the glass.
- a method of forming rolled patterned glass according to an invention which method is known from the Polish patent application P- 359791, consists in two-stage production forming.
- the first stage embraces the forming of the pane of glass using two backward smooth- surface rollers, which are situated direct at the casting of the glass mass out of the tank, and then shifting it, with its physical properties retained as required especially in the temperature domain, in order to be formed in the second stage by two backward forming rollers from which the upper one is smooth and the lower one has its surface engraved to a required pattern.
- the patterned glass to be obtained by using the above methods can also have a use in building the solar collectors, the degree of transmission of this glass being not satisfactory because it is 91,4% in the case of the ,,Albarino" type glass.
- the aim of this invention is to develop a technology to manufacture patterned and practical products, with variable morphology, from flat glass using the chemical glass etching method.
- This morphology can be obtained by changing the depth and the grain /granularity/ size of the structure of the glass surface.
- This has a direct influence both on the design and the optical properties to make the latter have a significant increase of its light transmission i.e. 90,0% to 93.0% which means an increase of even up to 8% in comparison with the same parameters of the base glass, with the indicator of light dissipation in the full radiation range being controlled at the same time and the above indicator being freely changeable depending on the use.
- the essence of the invention consists in the fact that on one smooth surface of a typical pane of glass preferably 3-5 mm thick the places having no patterned motif are being painted with the serigrafy method and after when they have been dried, the second smooth surface of this pane of glass is being masked tightly and then the pane of glass prepared this way is put into a tank with an acidic compound and the places not covered with the paint are undergoing the pickling process during a time which depends on the required depth of the patterned motif to be achieved in the mass of glass.
- sour ammonium fluorides with addition of H 2 SC ⁇ or HCL or sour potassium fluoride with addition of H 2 S O 4 or HCL are used where also in some cases additions of sorbitol, barium sulfate are advisable. It is advantageous to carry out the operation of pickling the places not covered with the paint this way as to get the structure of porosity of the glass surface variable or homogenous depending on a future use thereof.
- the patterned glass made using the method according to the invention has a coefficient of light transmission as good as 90,0% till 93,0% which is of big importance when using it for building solar collectors and batteries because this reduces operating costs of other sources of energy. Further, this method of manufacturing provides the possibility of achieving structures what ever you like by printing a pattern on the surface of glass depending on the parameters of transmission and dissipation of light which are required.
- An additional advantage of the patterned glass made by this method according to the invention is the possibility it provides of employing a variable gradation of roughness to achieve decorative effects, and by using some more structures on one glass element we have access to this kind of design which is being looked for especially by the building and furniture industry.
- the glass achieved by using the method according to the invention allows us to have such a characteristic thereof as to improve both its optical qualities by increasing the degree of transmission and controlled dissipation of light in the full range of radiation and also the practical 80 and decorative ones depending on its use to be made.
- the possibility of having a variable depth, granularity of pickling on the decorative elements contributes to improving the decorative qualities because, due to the different refraction of dissipation and the different degree of light transmission amounting to over 91,4%, the changing structure of the
