Definitions
- the present invention relates to an X-ray imaging apparatus for observing the internal structure of a subject with high sensitivity using the phase of X-rays and an X-ray source used therefor.
- X-rays Since X-rays have high penetrating power, they are widely used in medical image diagnosis, non-destructive inspection, security check, etc. as a probe for seeing through the inside of an object.
- the contrast of an X-ray fluoroscopic image depends on the difference in X-ray attenuation rate, and an object that strongly absorbs X-rays is rendered as an X-ray shadow. X-ray absorption ability becomes stronger as more elements with larger atomic numbers are included. Conversely, it can be pointed out that a substance composed of an element with a small atomic number is difficult to contrast, and this is also a principle defect of an X-ray fluoroscopic image. Therefore, sufficient sensitivity cannot be obtained with respect to biological soft tissue or soft material.
- the size of the X-ray generation source must be small to some extent. Then, even if it is a compact X-ray source, an existing X-ray source that can be used in this method is substantially a microfocus X-ray source. This does not apply to normal focus X-ray sources.
- X-rays are generated by irradiating an electron beam 2 onto a minute region of the target 1 as shown in FIG.
- the power of the X-ray obtained by the microfocus X-ray source is insufficient for application to X-ray imaging.
- a normal focus X-ray source is used to avoid the problem of insufficient intensity.
- the configuration of the X-ray Talbot-Lau interferometer is a multi-slit added to the configuration of the X-ray Talbot interferometer. That is, in this technique, an X-ray is generated by irradiating a relatively large area of the target with an electron beam, and the generated X-ray is partially transmitted through a multi slit.
- a radiation source in which narrow and linear virtual X-ray sources are arranged at a predetermined pitch.
- such a radiation source having a plurality of micro lines may be referred to as a micro multi-line radiation source in this specification.
- ⁇ X-rays from each slit in the multi-slit individually operate the downstream X-ray Talbot interferometer.
- phase information detection based on the principle of the X-ray Talbot interferometer becomes possible.
- the multi-slit needs to have a sufficient thickness in order to guarantee the function of the portion where X-rays should be blocked. Moreover, the multi-slit needs to have a slit width of about 10 microns at intervals of several tens of microns. For this reason, the multi-slit has a high aspect ratio structure and is difficult to manufacture. Furthermore, since X-rays spread radially from the generation source, an X-ray multi-slit having a high aspect ratio should ideally be a cylindrical surface with the X-ray source as the center of curvature. This also makes it difficult to produce multi-slits. International Publication WO2004 / 058070 U.S. Pat. No. 5,821,629
- An object of the present invention is to provide an X-ray imaging apparatus capable of omitting the installation of a multi-slit in an X-ray Talbot-Lau interferometer and an X-ray source used therefor.
- the present invention can be expressed as an invention described in the following items.
- the X-ray source includes a substrate and a plurality of stripe portions, The plurality of stripe portions are disposed on a surface of the substrate; The plurality of stripe portions are arranged at intervals from each other, Furthermore, the arrangement interval of the plurality of stripe portions is substantially constant, Either one of the substrate or the stripe portion is made of a material that generates a necessary amount of X-rays by irradiation of an excitation beam from the beam source,

- the second grating is configured to diffract the X-ray diffracted by the first grating,
- the X-ray image detector is configured to detect X-rays
- the excitation beam is, for example, an electron beam.
- an X-ray source By irradiating an X-ray source with an electron beam, a necessary amount of X-rays can be generated from either the substrate or the stripe portion. Further, since the stripe portions are formed at a predetermined period, the generated X-ray is virtually equivalent to a micro multiline X-ray. That is, according to the present invention, it is possible to realize a micro multiline source without using a multi slit.
- the substrate is rotatable about a rotation axis, Furthermore, the surface of the substrate has a shape that is rotationally symmetric with respect to the rotation axis,
- the “shape that is rotationally symmetric with respect to the rotation axis” is, for example, a cylindrical shape, a truncated cone shape, or a spherical shape, but is not limited thereto.
- the rotating shaft is, for example, a shaft for supporting the substrate.
- the rotation axis does not necessarily have to exist, and only needs to be virtually considered as the rotation center. For example, by supporting the periphery of the substrate with a plurality of rotating bodies and rotating these rotating bodies, the substrate can be rotated around a virtual rotation axis.
- An X-ray source used in an X-ray imaging apparatus includes a substrate and a plurality of stripe portions, The plurality of stripe portions are disposed on a surface of the substrate; The plurality of stripe portions are arranged at intervals from each other, Furthermore, the arrangement interval of the plurality of stripe portions is substantially constant, One of the substrate and the stripe portion is made of a material that generates a necessary amount of X-rays when irradiated with an excitation beam.
- An X-ray imaging method using the X-ray imaging apparatus comprising the following steps: (1) generating X-rays from the X-ray source by irradiating the surface of the substrate with the excitation beam from the excitation beam source; (2) the first grating diffracts X-rays generated from the target; (3) the second grating diffracts the X-rays diffracted by the first grating; (4) A step in which the X-ray image detector detects X-rays diffracted by the second grating.

- the X-ray source 10 refers to an X-ray generation site.
- components such as a vacuum vessel, a vacuum pump, an X-ray extraction window, a shutter, a high-voltage power supply, a controller, and a water cooling mechanism are required. There are many cases. However, since these components may be the same as those of a general X-ray source device, description thereof is omitted.
- the plurality of stripe portions 12 are arranged at intervals.
- the arrangement interval of the plurality of stripe portions 12 is substantially constant. That is, the stripe part 12 is arrange
- molybdenum is used in this embodiment.
- other materials can be used as long as they can generate a necessary amount of X-rays by irradiation with an electron beam (excitation beam) 2.
- stripe portion 12 aluminum is used in this embodiment.
- a material other than aluminum can be used for the stripe portion 12.
- Aluminum used for the stripe portion 12 has a wavelength of characteristic X-rays (described later) generated by electron beam irradiation much longer than that of the metal used for the substrate 11. That is, in this embodiment, only the substrate 11 generates a necessary amount of X-rays by irradiation of the excitation beam in a wavelength range necessary for imaging.
- an existing technique such as a vacuum vapor deposition method or a plating method can be used, and a detailed description thereof will be omitted.
- the electron beam generated from the excitation beam source (electron source) 20 is irradiated toward the surface of the X-ray source 10. This irradiation is the same as in the prior art.
- X-rays are generated from the regions of the substrate 11 and the stripe portion 12 with X-ray spectra depending on the respective materials.
- the X-ray spectrum includes characteristic X-rays having specific energy and continuous X-ray components that are weaker than that but include various energy components (see FIG. 2).
- a wavelength region including characteristic X-rays from molybdenum is used in, for example, an X-ray imaging apparatus for breast cancer diagnosis.
- characteristic X-rays from aluminum are not included in the above wavelength range because of their low energy, and most of them are absorbed by air and are not observed.
- intense X-rays can be obtained only from the portion of the substrate 11 made of molybdenum and exposed on the surface.
- the surface (i.e., the interval between the stripe portion 12) of the substrate 11 disposed at a predetermined pitch d s it is possible to generate the desired X-ray.
- the X-ray generation site is arranged at every predetermined pitch d s .
