Abstract
本発明は、光学記録媒体に対するレーザー光の往路と復路との分離を行うビームスプリッタが、低コストでありながら発振波長の変動に適応可能な低い波長依存性により良好な光路分離を可能にし、しかも光学記録媒体への光量と信号検出用受光素子への光量とを共に大きくすることを可能にする光ピックアップ装置を提供する。レーザー光の透過順に第1面S1と第2面S2を有する透明媒質から成る板状のビームスプリッタ4は、所定のレーザー光を光ディスク10に向けて反射させ、光ディスク10で反射したレーザー光を透過させる。反射時のレーザー光がビームスプリッタ4に入射する際には第1面S1に対してS偏光の状態にあり、条件式:θMAX-10°≦θ≦θMAX+7°(θ:反射時のレーザー光の第1面S1に対する入射角度、θMAX:(Rs1×Tp1×Tp2)が最大となるときの第1面S1に対する入射角度)を満たす。
